Will the Queen pay off Prince Andrew’s £6.7 million Swiss chalet debt?

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family enjoy a flypast by the RAF at Trooping the Colour on Saturday 8 June 2019

As I write this, several British tabloids are still obsessed with auditing every single little thing regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The British papers are just obsessed with the idea that Harry and Meghan might be spending THEIR OWN MONEY on much-needed security to protect themselves from all of the unhinged people agitated by the British media’s ginned-up fake scandals. I bring up the press’s obsession with the Sussex finances because I would love for those same media outlets to bring a similar energy to the Duke of York and his *extremely* shady financial situation. Years ago, Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson purchased a Swiss chalet on some kind of payment plan, where every few years they would make a multi-million lump payment. They missed the 2019 payment of £6.7 million because, mysteriously, Andrew’s finances took a hit after Jeffrey Epstein’s death (coughcough). So the original owner of the Swiss chalet is currently suing Andrew and Fergie. But the Queen might pay to make it all go away for her favorite son:

The Queen is to pay off Prince Andrew’s £6.7million ski chalet debt to save her son further embarrassment, it is claimed. Her Majesty will step in to end the Duke and Duchess of York’s feud with a French socialite over the luxury home in Swiss resort Verbier. Isabelle de Rouvre sold the Yorks the huge seven-bedroom lodge for £18million in 2014 but she is now pursuing them through the courts, alleging they still owe her £6.7million.

An insider told US jet set mag Air Mail that the Queen will pay the debt herself — to avoid another scandal engulfing her son following the Jeffrey Epstein affair. The source said: “Otherwise it’s going to court and things will get really bad.”

Madame de Rouvre, 74, had become a friend of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, both 60, when they repeatedly rented the chalet. It is said to boast a 60sq metre indoor pool, a sauna, bar and entertaining area. Madame de Rouvre employed six full-time staff and let it for more than £22,000-a-week. After selling it to the Yorks, who remained pals after their 1996 divorce, she claims they missed a December 31 deadline to pay the outstanding amount. Speaking this month, she said the case was “really difficult”, while a source added it had “severely tarnished” her friendship with Andrew and Fergie.

Air Mail also claims Andrew had gone to his US billionaire paedo pal Epstein’s New York home in 2010 to beg him to help his ex-wife out of debt. The mag says Fergie had owed a £3.2million bank overdraft. A source said: “He went with his begging bowl to scrounge for her. Everyone in the Royal Family knows this is why he was there.”

[From The Sun]

The fact that this is happening at the very same time that the Windsors and the British media are nickel-and-diming Harry and Meghan to “repay” the costs of Frogmore Cottage’s renovation… well, it’s not a good look. And it’s weird that the Queen magically has £6.7million to blow on her fave’s Swiss chalet, right? It’s totally strange that the Queen can find that kind of money to rescue Andrew from embarrassment. This is what has set my teeth on edge for the past year and a half: the very direct comparison between how the Windsors have treated Andrew versus the Sussexes’ treatment within the same damn time frame. It’s startling and shocking to see how tone-deaf they are.

Update: after I wrote this up, Andrew’s spokesperson (how does he still have a spokesperson??) told the Evening Standard: “The Queen will not be stepping in to settle the debt owed on the Swiss chalet. The chalet is currently on the market and it is expected that its sale will enable all outstanding debts to be met.” Wait, what? He still owes about $8 million on the chalet, so he doesn’t really OWN it, and he’s selling it and that will settle the debt? Hm.

Of course she will. It’ll go through a few hands and orgs first I bet to be just legal and far enough away from her. Or it will come out if her “personal” wealth 🙄

I tweeted this, in Omid Scoobie’s feed, after he posted about it:

“The fact that her son was besties with a pedophile, and he *allegedly* (ha!) raped/groped underage girls doesn’t faze her. She continues to subsidize HIM (to the tune of £6M), but is making Harry & Meghan repay millions on a wedding “gift” of a home. DONE!”

The House of Petty seems to be pretty forgiving…IF you’re mummy’s favorite boy, that is.

I just googled QE2 net worth and it is an estimated 530 million American dollars. She could comfortably pay PA’s debt to avoid the embarrassment. Why won’t she I wonder. Perhaps she wants to avoid looking heavily in favor of her youngest son.

I watched the Epstein docu-series this weekend – and my disgust and anger at the BRF grew exponentially… I hate them all esp to see them continually support Andrew and deny and silence his victims. Eff them all.

    • (TheOG) jan90067 says:

I couldn’t bring myself to watch it. Just don’t think I could stomach it.

      • OriginalLala says:

I didn’t think I could get through it either to be honest, but so much of the series is the survivors telling their stories, so I watched it to support them.

It’s a mortgage with a different payment structure. Instead of monthly payments over 15/30 years, it seems they were making a lump sum payment every year. Since they’ve been paying up till 2019, they have some equity. If they sell before the mortgage is paid off, they use the profits to pay off the lender.
Doesn’t explain why anyone would do business with these two.

    • clomo says:

That’s what many “normal ” people do when they see financial trouble on the horizon. Andy and Fergie must make the younger royals cringe so bad, the dark aura around F&A is so apparent as they get older and the obvious disfunction in the WHOLE family is so blaring with social media these days.

  4. S808 says:

Yeah she’s gonna pay it off and the bm will still cry about frogmore and security for the Sussexes. They had no problem being claws out with Andrew, I don’t get why they’re backing off now. Between him and the Cambridge mess I know they’re itching to spill. They can only regurgitate the same bullshit about H&M for so long.

    • Ruby_Woo says:

I don’t think the BM really care. They are so used to wealthy powerful men being sleazy. When the Andrew’s accuser was going to give an interview after his car-crash one. The ITV Royal correspondent was very quick to say that she would be getting paid and making a lot of money from these interviews; completely minimising and dismissing her – the absolute cheek!

And when the accusers lawyers said that Andrew was not (when he promised he would), the same ITV guy completely minimised it saying that it up to Andrew’s lawyers to sort out and it wasn’t Andrew’s problem!

    • molly says:

Harry and Meghan get way more clicks than scuzzy Andrew. British media doesn’t care about the content. They just focus on whatever is more profitable.

  5. Ruby_Woo says:

It’s easy to get angry about the treatment about Andrew, but in some ways, it’s good cos it really shows the disparity of how they cover for him vs how they cover for the Sussexes.

I love how they throw Fergie under the bus. He HAD to spend time with a peado to beg money for Sarah, what a gent! Obviously, there was no ‘massages’ from under-aged girls and money and social climbing for himself.

I always thought that it was in fact Andrew who was paying Epstien off to not disclose his deviancy, but it turns out Epstien was actually paying him. I don’t know which way is worse!

The RRs are really something, they won’t go near it; probably because they know any criticism of Andrew, is a criticism of the Queen, is criticism of the monarchy, which brings about their whole careers in question,

Apparently in Australia, a motion has been granted to release previously confidential royal papers (I wasn’t paying much attention to it). It’ll be interesting see if anything juicy comes out of that.

    • WilliamJoelene says:

The royal papers are letters between the Australian Governor General and the Queen when the Australian Prime Minister was dismissed (1970s). Sorry – probably not the juice you were hoping for.

I wish someone would explain the Sarah/Andrew post-separation relationship to me. It finally dawned on me, they’ve been hiding in plain sight all these years. Married in all senses of the word, except not. Or is it a case of keeping your enemies closer? If she’s under A’s nose, she’s controlled.

      • Ruby_Woo says:

I think they genuinely care about eachother in their own dysfunctional gross way. And in their eyes, their daughters are the absolute everything blood princesses, which bonds them.

I think they are both incredibly greedy and Andrew uses Fergie as front for his own financial scamming. All this talk about begging for money to cover Fergie’s debt. Is it really her debt (or his)?

Even if it is her debt, why is she in so much debt when she lives rent free in Andrew’s home. The costs of the daughters were taken care of by Andrew/ Queen and she must have had money and free stuff thrown at her from endorsements and access to Andrew. Maybe she got in debt by doing his dodgy dealings on his behalf. And when these deals go wrong, she takes the flack.

He seems to like them very young, so I don’t think she’s her type anymore. I wouldn’t be suprised if he keeps her around as insurance, so she doesn’t spill any of their secrets. And she hangs around for association with royalty.

Everyone is complaining about Harry and Meghan’s book. I would love a book about Sarah and Andrew.

    • Seraphina says:

I hope they release it all. Why should one family has so much protection? It absolutely crazy that they play God and decide who gets thrown under the bus and they destroy people psychologically. And for what? To protect their livelihood which we all know is like a welfare system.

    • MsIam says:

I wonder if Andrew was helping connect Epstein with other wealthy clients. If you think about it his trade ambassador “ job” gave him all kinds of access to rich people and it would all be confidential. Maybe Epstein gave him a finders fee of sorts. At any rate, it looks like Epstein was a diligent record keeper and he certainly named names. Interesting times ahead.

      • Anon says:

Pedo Andy could be also selling Epstein classified intel that his “mom wrote this on a dirty napkin” clearence as Trade embassador afforded him to access…

  6. Seraphina says:

    🤣. Oh yes she will.

  7. Emily says:

Just here to make a job about an older person having that much debt to Swiss Chalet restaurants.

    • Jumpingthesnark says:

Emily, I’m here for the joke! Guess the York’s are banned for life from rotisserie chicken family packs!

    • Lizzieb says:

@emily. They must have ordered the ribs with their quarter chicken meal. They seem extravagant like that.

  8. Yoyo says:

I can’t understand Fergie, how can she be in debt for going on thirty years, I know she lives above her means.
The Queen bailed her out a few times, she got paid for her weight watchers Ads, borrowed from Epstein and numerous Arab Sheiks.

    • MsIam says:

Doesn’t she have a skin care line she’s trying to get going? Maybe that’s where she’s sinking all her money. It does seem strange for someone who doesn’t have to worry about paying for housing etc and is probably grifting all sorts of freebies to always be broke. Her kids are grown so no money spent there. ‘Tis a puzzle for sure.

  9. indiesr says:

    absolutely!!!!

  10. RoyalBlue says:

and the queen can’t cover the frogmore upgrades? it’s her property and it needed structural updates.

oh so it’s going on the open market? let’s see if we ever find out who the anonymous buyer will be and the beneficiary of the trust in whose hands it will ultimately reside. don’t trust them.

    • Harla says:

And now that Andrew’s no longer a working royal I imagine that he’ll start paying back the $7 million spent on refurbishing Royal Lodge and he’ll start paying rent and maintenance too. **when pigs fly**

  11. lizardqueen says:

This family is rotten from the inside out and the top down.

  12. Lowrider says:

    The sources always blame Sarah…

    • MsIam says:

Maybe they’ll hand HER over to the FBI, lol. It wouldn’t surprise me if they try to pin something on her. Not that she wouldn’t deserve it. She should have gotten as far away from Andrew as she could once those girls were grown. Now she’s probably trapped.

  13. Harla says:

As I keep saying, I hope H&M say here’s your 2.4 million and we’re done, no more “renting” Frogmore, no more maintenance fees, just no more!

  14. Lizzie says:

Fall out and possible charges from perv son being interviewed by the FBI are huge and a threat to the continuation of the monarchy. I think TQ has self and crown interest at heart more than her love of her perv son.
