I really hope Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s breakup/makeup drama isn’t all for attention and headlines. That was not my impression when the breakup story broke on Friday – it felt like a real breakup, about real grown-up sh-t like money and infidelity. But as they got back together on Saturday, it started to feel like a stunt. I don’t know… maybe it started as real and now they’re just milking it for attention? Perhaps. We do know – because they’re telling us so – that Alex flew to the Dominican Republic to be with Jennifer while she films a movie.
J-Rod has reunited. On Sunday, Alex Rodriguez flew to the Dominican Republic to reunite with fiancée Jennifer Lopez after the two announced that they are “working through some things” over the weekend.
“Alex flew to the Dominican Republic yesterday,” a source close to Lopez, 51, tells PEOPLE. “Jennifer was excited to see him in person. They are really trying to figure things out.”
“It was a happy reunion,” the source adds.
On Monday morning, Rodriguez, 45, shared a video of his trip to paradise, sharing a video of the ocean and the Caribbean resort on his Instagram Story. He also posted photos of himself signing baseball cards during his flight. “Happy Monday. New week. New day,” he wrote, tagging Lopez in the post. “Onward. Upward.”
The two “are working on their relationship,” a source close to the situation tells PEOPLE.
Over the weekend — after multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Lopez and Rodriguez had called it quits — Rodriguez told photographers “I’m not single.” Rodriguez’s public appearance came after the couple told PEOPLE in a statement, “We are working through some things.”
“They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up,” a source close to the pair told PEOPLE on Saturday. The source added that the speculation that arose last month that Rodriguez had had an affair after Southern Charm’s Madison LeCroy “had no bearing on the rough patch at all. She’s working in the Dominican Republic and he’s in Miami so it’s tough seeing each other especially with quarantining and COVID,” the source added of Lopez and Rodriguez, “but they want to try to stay together.”
Alternate theory: Jennifer wanted him to beg. I think that’s very likely! As much as we talk about how Jennifer can’t be alone and how she’s in love with love and her relationships are always so messy, I feel like Jennifer does demand to be treated a certain way (as she should, frankly). It’s more than possible that Jennifer was done with his sh-t, she dumped him to get his attention and she’s getting him to modify his behavior and come running to her. If that’s what it is… I mean, a lot of women do that. I’m not judging.

Not the regular, human, you have to work at keeping a long term relationship going.
This is just- really- is the relationship itself really worth all of this drama?
I guess it comes down to, you know he is going to cheat.

Sometimes people get hooked on that post-drama euphoria. Things are awful, you’re fighting, you think it’s over, you feel like sh*t, then someone softens and says let’s work this out, I’ll do better, and that feeling of relief and love and hope for a better tomorrow feels like a high. Those types of relationships just have to go through that cycle umpteen times until one of you recognizes the pattern isn’t changing.

and, for JLo, if the benefits outweigh the feelings of hurt, it’s okay with her.
I suspect that this reunion won’t last. he’ll tell her what she wants to hear, he’ll be “a good boy” for a while, and then he’ll (re)start up with a few side pieces. she’ll find out and it’ll be even messier. dude can’t help himself, he’s cheated repeatedly on EVERY women he’s been with, wife and GF.
People are either cheaters or their not.

Maybe Alex will modify his behaviour for a short while, and they will stay in the headlines. I feel this is a PR relationship, and I don’t sense any deep love between them. Two egomaniacs, and one is prolific cheater. I cannot see this working out long term. I feel badly for their children and the stress they have to endure, hoping their selfish parents failing relationship will stay intact.

Geezus Jen, get a grip, dump,his cheating ass and get into therapy and stay single for a year. Her best pick was Marc Anthony, she should have stayed with him. He seemed to make a good husband/father.
A Rod is another Prince William,he was so good looking then he drastically went down in the looks department over night.

But he’s not going to modify his behavior….there will always be a next time. Demanding to be treated a certain way means you do not tolerate the infidelity and disrespect. I disagree that she is demanding more from him. She is forgiving him until next time……
Are they trying to keep this relationship going for the kids? Jennifer needs to stay single, for a long time. I know she loves to be in a relationship ALL THE TIME but my God why put yourself through this sh*t?

The break up is inevitable. He’s begging to be taken back, she’s having her finance people try and de-tangle all of their financial interests. She’s not getting back together with him long term.

It was a “happy reunion” but no pictures that they were in the same room together. JLo appears to likes drama. I remember when she cheated on one of her husbands to get with Ben and I remember when she got with Drake for a quick minute which broke up her friendship with RiRi because RiRi was seeing Drake at that time.
The men she has chosen are so douchy. Although I kinda liked Marc. A-Rod just seem so plastic, and try-hard.

I don’t know about you guys over there in the US (western EU here) but aren’t we all supposed to stay at home and only travel if it’s really necessary- with the deadly pandemic and all? Most European countries still have very strict lockdown rules at the moment as covid cases are once again skyrocketing.

Americans are traveling. I’m vaccinated and was in DR last weekend for a long weekend. We just have to covid “test out ” to leave quarantine when we return. I took a covid test in the immigration area of the DR airport on arrival, took another test at the hotel the day before I left DR, and then a final test on day 4 after returning to NYC.
I live in DR and just returned back from the US after spending time w a dying relative- really grateful for in home hospice right now.
DR has no covid test requirement to enter but you might get flagged for screening at the airport.
You must have a test to get on a plane to leave DR.
Tho I suspect Arod did not holler at JetBlue more space seats like I do to make the flight less tedious…
I could totally see her dumping him to make him shape up. But if that’s the case, it’s only temporary, and he’ll only disappoint her again.

JLo & ARod will do ANYTHING for publicity. She is filming a movie, Armie Hammer is out, Lenny is in – she’s afraid it will all hit the fan. This is so much for the publicity. Nothing else. She cheats, he cheats. Also, when she said she wanted kids with ARod, who is 45 years old and she is 52 years old. Yes, yes – a surrogacy is an option but it seems really unfair to the (future?) child. Of course that could all be for attention & to make JLow seem young and fresh. ?!?!?!!
