Post-funeral, Duchess Kate is the ‘the rock the monarchy will depend on’

The Funeral Of Prince Philip, Duke Of Edinburgh Is Held In Windsor

The Duchess of Cambridge spoke to Prince Harry as they exited St. George’s Chapel on Saturday, then she and Harry and William walked together briefly, then Kate began to hang back to give the brothers space. And for this, Kate is being called the second coming, the most powerful diplomatic force that Britain has ever keened, and a true heir to the crown, basically. Kate needs to watch her step – the sycophantic press and her need to “take credit” for the reunion will not go down well with Prince William OR Prince Charles. Just further evidence that Kate and Camp Middleton are running their own (now-diverging) press operation.

It became obvious at Prince Philip’s funeral that the future of the Royal Family is safe — with Kate as their new rock. Immaculately-dressed and elegant in pearls, she looked like a regent-in-waiting. But by gently reuniting warring brothers William and Harry, the Duchess of Cambridge showed she has the quiet qualities of a Queen.

Support for her husband has been unswerving ever since, as Kate Middleton, she married Prince William ten years ago. And at the end of Saturday’s moving send-off, she consoled William’s visibly-upset father, Prince Charles, 73, with a kiss on the cheek and a comforting hand on his shoulder. Moments after that, Kate played peacekeeper between William, 38, and Prince Harry, 36. In the months and years ahead, the 39-year-old Duchess will be the person that not only Charles but also the Queen and their whole family will come to rely on as they feel the loss of the Duke of Edinburgh.

William’s biographer Brian Hoey said: “They say cometh the hour, cometh the man. But in the Royal Family’s case, it’s a woman. Thank God for Kate — she is the rock the monarchy will depend on. On Saturday, she behaved absolutely impeccably.”

Experts agree that in many ways Kate is just like the Queen Mum – a devoted mother who totally supported her husband, George VI, through the abdication crisis and the Second World War. Mr Hoey, who has interviewed both the Cambridges, said: “The Queen Mother had star quality, which Kate has in abundance. But unlike the Queen Mum, the Duchess has the ability, just like Princess Diana had, to get on with people from every walk of life. She will be the perfect Queen consort for William when he becomes King.”

Royal watcher Ingrid Seward said: “After the things that Meghan said to Oprah about the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate would have been quite entitled to also avoid Harry. She has just got beautiful manners — taught by her mum Carole — and when she sees an awkward situation, she steps in. That’s why she talked to Harry.”

Ms Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine said: “Harry must have felt awkward because he knew the hurt he had caused but Kate was charming to him. Kate is a mum of three, she has a husband she needs to support — and I don’t think there is enough time in her life to hold grudges.”

When Philip retired in 2017, he moved to Wood Farm on the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk, close to the Cambridges’ home at Amner Hall. It was there that Philip spent time with Kate talking to her about her role when William is King.

[From The Sun]

I wonder if any of these people get tired of being so over-the-top about Kate? Especially since it seemed like she had coordinated what she would do with other people, probably her mother and probably some people in Kensington Palace. The “keen peacemaker” story in the Telegraph last week was literally telegraphing her actions at the funeral. It’s also crazy to watch the British press act like Kate is A) a victim and B) a neutral party. She’s not a victim – it’s clear she victimized Meghan and Harry. She’s not a neutral party – a large part of her embiggening project involves throwing Harry, Meghan and the rest of the family under the bus.

“Perfect manners, as taught to her by mother Carole Middleton”. Hahahahaha!

    • erni says:

Whenever the word “manner” is mentioned near Kate, one can easily pointed out commonwealth service. Perfect manner, indeed.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

The more they embiggen her the more I am convinced that there is something rotten in Denmark. Sussexit can be traced back to her and Baldilocks’ dastardly ways. Sometimes it’s good to give people what they wish for. The stage is all theirs now and I wish them what they’ve done to others.

      • Liz version 700 says:

Oh yes yes yes. “May you get everything you want” can be the worst curse of all.

      • Gabby says:

I agree. How is William ever going to divorce the “rock” supporting the family? Trapped indeed.

      • GRUEY says:

For better or for worse, Kate is now the brightest star in the BRF and they are stuck with her. For the following reasons:

        1) of the remaining members, her PR is…actually the best of the three. What, you say?? Yep, it’s true. At least Carole talks a consistent game and no one on her team thinks it’s a good idea to put out story after story about what a petty rage monster she is. Charles is widely disliked at worst, and ignored at best.

        2) by virtue of the fact that she’s the youngest, gets the most outfit changes, and is most closely associated with the Cambridge children, she is de facto now the “most interesting” royal. Not a hell of a lot to go on. But still the most.

The bottom line is Carole and Kate have the RF over a bit of a barrel. She’s their brightest star and indispensable because, well, there is absolutely NO ONE else. Sophie may be a Fiesta but at least Kates a…Toyota Avalon?

      • Harper says:

@Gabby that is a very good point. Does anyone remember the rumor that one of the downsides of Sussexit was that it foiled Will’s plan to get his breakup with Kate underway? The Cambridges are at the ten-year mark this month and if the ten-year/two kids contract really exists then we know why the PR is diverging and why CarolE is going overboard with the Kate embiggening. CarolE may really regret going ahead and signing that thing thinking it was better than nothing and but now needs Will to change his mind and give Kate an extension.

      • Bettyrose says:

After a lifetime of large American cars, my grandmother spent the last decade of her driving years in an Avalon. It’s a very sensible, low key elegant car.

      • Becks1 says:

@Bettyrose your response is cracking me up.

@Harper I buy that rumor, maybe I even started it, lol. But it would explain why William seems to be taking Sussexit so personally, even now, a year later. Why? The queen doesnt seem to be taking it personally. Charles is, well, charles, and behaved horribly, but he and the Queen both at least showed up for the lunch at Sandringham – William refused. You would think the Queen would be the most upset at Harry walking away, but it feels like its William. Why is it so personal to him? Well its personal if it means he can’t divorce Kate right now. Throw in the 2 kids/10 year agreement (obviously also a rumor) and that could explain the divergent PRs.

@Gabby – you make good points and a few other posters here for the past few days (maybe even just today) have made similar ones – Kate is what’s left. Kate is what the royals are stuck with. She’s the glamorous one (relatively, compared to the other royals), she’s the mother who can connect with women (I think sophie is better at it but don’t mind me), she’s young, she’s considered elegant and a role model (by some) – again, this is all relative. You have a workforce, so to speak, that is aging and most people don’t know who they are (like if you asked the average person in Britain to pick the Duke of Gloucester out of a lineup, or even just who he was in terms of the royal family, I’m guessing most wouldnt know?) , and so at this point, Kate and William are what’s left and Kate gets more press and interest than William.

She’s not a Lamborghini, but she’s the closest thing they have at this point.

The downside to that is that she is going to get the most attention, and if she doesn’t show up more, work more, etc, people are going to notice.

      • swirlmamad says:

“Have the day you deserve” is one of my favorite clapbacks. May these two have the LIFE they so richly deserve.

      • Me says:

The desperation and the caucasity—it’s really a lot. They are all so contemptible and weak—given every advantage to no avail.

      • GRUEY says:

@betty rose lol I actually felt guilty using Avalon because my old beat up one was so reliable all through grad school. So what’s above a fiesta but below an Audi, probably below even a CRV cuz Honda’s are workhorses?

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

I find this hysterically funny. Kant simply put CANNOT live up to this press. She will now retire to Anmer for the next 10 years safe with the knowledge that she’s the rock? Seriously? I would say she’s set herself up for a humongous fall–I can’t wait. Also, let’s not underestimate PC–the cameras are not always watching and he’s going to be doing some serious damage control soon. We all need lots of popcorn, because when the sh*t hits the fan, it’s going to be entertaining.

      • Nic919 says:

Kate hid away for about a month so she could be botoxed and ready for her glamour shots at Phil’s funeral. There is no way she can maintain this for long. She already looks excessively thin and William may have even barked at her on the way out of the funeral.

      • Jais says:

        @bettyrose and @gruey- would a Camry work?

    • Myra says:

As was self-evident during the Commonwealth service and during that polo day outing when Meghan and little baby Archie was standing next to her. Clearly perfect manners. I’m sure the York sisters would also vouch for that.

    • Sue says:

Is there a term for the royal equivalent to a stage mom? Because that’s what Carole Middleton is.

      • kelleybelle says:

        Hence the nickname: Carole Kardashian.

      • Nic919 says:

Carole Middleton was selling out her daughters to titled men well before the Kardashians were known for profiting from Kim’s tape. Carole is actually the OG here when it comes to being a momager.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Ah those ‘perfect manners’ include flashing a war memorial and god knows how many paps over the years.

    • Ginger says:

That’s funny because there are many stories of Carole being horrible to staff. She is known to be very rude. I definitely see where Kate’s it.

    • Moxylady says:

If by rock, you mean default because they are the only female younger generation “working Royal” left. Yeah. So if that’s the bar. She’s not so much the rock as just …. looks like they are stuck with her mean, petty, lazy self.

      • Lady D says:

In about 5 years Lady Louise will be 21 or so. She will be a working royal and the one Kate will use to throw under a bus for distraction. I wonder if Sophie is reading the writing on the wall?

  2. aquarius64 says:

A rock? More like a pebble.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

They are trying to make fetch happen. Yes she’s the perfect consort. It’s only taken her nearly 20 years of proximity to the RF, her mother, many stylists, groomers, courtiers, the whole of the British media and the British establishment. Being propped up must be so exhausting.

    • Size Does Matter says:

If Kate is the foundation of the British monarchy it is already over. Hope everyone enjoys their commemorative teapots.

    • Pix says:

Well, I don’t know that she’s a rock. But she and her mum are building a pedestal — perhaps made of rock? The taller the pedestal the harder the fall. Each story is building her so high I don’t think they can see the ground. (Unfortunately, I don’t/won’t feel badly for her at all.)

    • Yes she’s more like a pebble William can kick around . She has zero appeal really. No zest in life. She’s not inspirational and aspirational. She’s monotonous and stodgy.

  3. Mia4s says:

HAHAHAHA!!!! Princess Anne and her eight million patronages says “Bitch what?”.

  4. stkarolina says:

I don’t get it, all the medical masks I get go up to my eyes and way further up the cheek towards the ears. Hers always look like child-size masks to me. Or am I crazy?

Do they make her custom masks so she can show off her awful contouring???

    • CindyP says:

You’re not; bugs the hell out of me too.

    • FHMom says:

Really good call. I needed the laugh after reading the piece about Helen McCrory

    • Zaya says:

You’re not crazy. Look at everyone else’s masks, they’re normal. At least this one isn’t digging into her cheeks like her normal floral ones. But yeah, they’re smaller than normal.

    • tolly says:

This. Everyone else looks like they’re at a funeral. Kate looks like she’s shooting a funeral scene for an episode of Dynasty.

      • Talia says:

I was just thinking that. Very Joan Collins (in character, not the actress personally) about to be arrested for the murder of her ninth husband.

      • TeamMeg says:

        LOL Spot on!

      • My Two Cents says:

it’s her eye make-up, she’s gone all out with her cat-eye. Since when? and especially at a funeral? and of course staring straight at the cameras, each time, she couldn’t get more obvious.

      • Paige Cummings says:

        😂

      • Mac says:

A pap took a flattering photo of Kate at a funeral and now she is the family rock. Sometimes I wonder if the tabs are satire.

      • Deering24 says:

        🤣🤣🤣

      • Tiffany :) says:

The photo in the car has been heavily edited.
Her under-eye area has been cleaned up sooooooo much! This is a glamour shot.

      • LittlePenguin says:

You nailed it. I was trying to place it this weekend and couldn’t!

      • dj says:

I noticed the glamour shot as well. Also, so Dynasty with that giant bow! Yikes. Just missing some bugle beads (Bob Mackie style) or sequins.

      • Elizabeth Phillips says:

I was thinking Falcon Crest with Jane Wyman looking out the car window. But, yeah, definitely nighttime soap opera widow looking for the next victim.

    • Cait says:

I cannot understand why her masks fit like that.

Also I am shocked by the direct eye contact in Kate’s photos. I read others commenting on it but wow seeing is believing. It’s actually quite creepy.

    • GreenEyes says:

Those photos of her in the hat and mask w/ that hairdo just give me Scarlet O’Hara vibes.. all theatrics.

      • Harper says:

OMG. That’s who it’s reminding me of! When Scarlett goes to the lumberyard dressed in her finest to offer herself to Rhett in exchange for money for Tara.

    • MsDiMeanOur says:

I came to complain about the mask too
I am asthmatic and I wear hijab
So this is just a mockery to the common people who don’t have privilege.
We know what you look like Kate Keenbridge
      Mask it up.

      • Kelly says:

PEOPLE, you can buy more flattering masks made by seamstresses. They are all over Etsy and not expensive.

  5. Cecilia says:

The whole thing outside of the church was so obviously staged it actually makes me uncomfortable. Trust the windsors (and apparently middletons) to even use a funeral to score pr points. Does anybody (outside of royalists) actually believe this drivel? They are being so sugary with kate surely some people must be sick of it by now.

    • Belli says:

It was very scripted, especially since the “Kate The Peacemaker” stories broadcast in the week BEFORE the funeral, setting the stage for the “Kate the Peacemaker” stories AFTER the funeral. Say a thing enough times and people will start to believe it.

Her stage directions were planned out beforehand and she did them and made nice eye contact with the photographer in the meantime. I can picture Carole punching the air when she saw Harry talking to Kate on the TV after she hung back for him.

      • Red Snapper says:

Why do I feel like I saw something nobody else did? Kate was walking with Will and Harry, the camera panned ahead, something happened that made other people (Edward, Beatrice) turn around, then we see Sophie rubbing Kate’s shoulder consolingly, and Kate is wiping her eyes with a white handkerchief.

Someone made Kate cry. Why aren’t we talking about that?

      • equality says:

You aren’t reading about Kate crying because Meghan wasn’t there.

      • KW says:

Red snapper, I also noticed it and there was a moment that Sophie’s daughter scurried away from being in front of them. Something was defo said, you could tell by how fast Harry and WillyNilly took off after that. There is a shot above of Kate with her white handkerchief

      • Becks1 says:

I don’t think anyone “made” Kate cry. It was a funeral, she was probably just sad. I rewatched the video again and don’t feel like there was any huge drama, it’s definitely obvious that Kate waited for Harry, so maybe William snapped at her for that or something? but like I said, maybe she just got a little teary-eyed due to the circumstances.

      • Alexandria says:

@Redsnapper, also possible nobody made her cry except herself. Since that’s the time when a lot of cameras are on the royals who are walking, she could stage shedding a tear for Phillip since she is now the anointed sad saviour of the BRF and oh, is sad he is dead. Then Sophie is there to console future saviour cos of course she has to suck up to the Saint Katherine right?

      • Red Snapper says:

Becks this was after the funeral while they were walking away. Something happened that caused Edward and Beatrice to turn and look back towards the brothers, then we see Kate walking beside Sophie wiping her eyes.

      • Becks1 says:

@Redsnapper – I know, I watched the video. But it was edited in such a way that it was hard to tell how close in time events were. Regardless, i dont think someone wiping their eyes after a funeral is a sign that “someone made them cry” – maybe she was just emotional.

      • ShazBot says:

She’d just taken off her mask, so I think she was just wiping her nose. I know wearing a mask for a while makes my nose run.

      • Red Snapper says:

Fine, I’ll be the Lone Ranger Funeral Truther. My guess is that Kate was trying to be the peacemaker for the press, and either Will or Harry or both said something so loud and unpleasant that others turned around shocked, and Kate slunk back to Sophie teary eyed.

      • Becks1 says:

@Red Snapper – lol at “Lone Ranger Funeral Truther.”

Like I said, I think IF she was crying because of something that happened at that moment (not the funeral) then my guess is that William snapped at her. Even if what he said wasn’t that rude, if it was a “snap” then it just could have been embarrassing for her. It’s hard to tell without sound.

      • Ginger says:

Red Snapper, I see what you mean regarding the video and I thought it was interesting.
I would LOVE for it to be Harry telling her off and she got upset but it’s probably her “wiping a tear because she brought the brothers together”

      • Red Snapper says:

Either she united the brothers in their shared disrespect of her or she made things *more* difficult. Some peacemaker.

    • erni says:

I mean, FWIW, Kate maybe said, “Hey, how’s Meghan?”. To which Harry replied, “As free as you’ll never be.”

Kate then stepped back, cried a little and comforted by Sophie.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

She is trying to live down what we saw last year at the CW service. Her shamelessness is astounding. Is there no death she will not use to her advantage? It was meant to be all about the Queen and Prince Philip but no, madam had to centre herself. I am so glad Harry was his civil self.

  6. Chartreuse says:

A bit of copy paste from my comment on outfit article :
Kate’s being lauded for her perfection, beauty, modesty, rock of all royals, and consort perfection etc all over the tabs and other media. She really made this about herself. Weird no one says that! Especially with those ‘look at me’ pics. Imagine if that were meghan!

But hang on… ‘REGENT IN WAITING’ ? Regent for whom? Has she just had a massive promotion?

Funny I picked an article from 2015 (I love the links to old articles) and in the Fail, she’s plain, boring, lazy, spends too much, overdresses. My, how times have changed.

    • CuriousCole says:

Chartreuse, I’ve also got printouts of old articles and it is quite a trip to see how often Kate was dragged in the press and comments sections prior to Meghan’s arrival. It really did flip almost overnight. I wonder, if W&K had been slightly happier, or at least stable, would Kate have been more civil to Meg?? (And by civil I mean fake smiles in person and restraint in her media bullying campaigns.)

    • Isabella says:

Kate won’t be queen consort until she’s an old lady. Camilla will come first. I don’t know why Kate needs to jump the gun. It’s creepy and weird.

    • My Two Cents says:

Absolutely, Kate has profited the most by Meghan coming onto the scene. She was really quite disliked beforehand. But to be fair, her criticism was honest – she was lazy, check, she spent a lot on clothes, check and she DID wait 9 years for the ring, so Waity Katie is also not a lie. The only real shame is that she hasn’t actually changed at all yet you wouldn’t know it by reading the current articles.

  7. josephine says:

The English press is falling over themselves trying to make her happen, I guess to deflect from her husband’s obvious lack of charm. So many stories about how she’s getting the brothers back together and how she’s there for the queen and for charles, etc. It’s really embarassing that they have to try so hard for someone who is so bland, unlikeable, and lazy. It feels like her claim to fame these days is starving herself into disappearing. Too bad they had to hound the only royals with any sort of personality and life out of the country.

    • HyacinthBucket says:

I can’t help it, but I think William has another sidepiece going. The Middleton PR is so over the top. It feels as if they try to firmly establish Queen Kate in the public‘s minds, so it’s more difficult for William to stray too far. What if Rose Hanbury is William‘s Camilla or Penelope?

      • Elizabeth Regina says:

If Rose Hanbury is truly his Camilla, William will find a way to get rid of Kate. The British public may not like Camilla but they’ve accepted her and some factions of the press even praise her. Kate and her mama should watch it. She is nowhere near Diana in beauty, presence and charisma and she is not irreplaceable. As she knows by now the crown always wins.

      • Cecilia says:

I was literally just about to say this. That marriage is not going to well. This over the top pr proves it. But its obviously Kp approved or it wouldn’t have happened.

      • Seraphina says:

Yes, I was about to write I am nauseated by the sugar sweet stories I hear in regards to Waity Katie Not So Great-ey.
Kate also is lazy – unlike Diana. And what endeared Diana to many was her empathy, work ethic and emotional intelligence, Of which Kate does not have.

      • Chartreuse says:

For sure. Middleton pr is in overdrive. Something is afoot for sure. Kate is not beloved, she’s accepted. The bots love her but once the rotas flip on her, She’ll be back to 2015 Lazy Kate. There’s plenty of Middleton dirt to shovel.

      • Sofia says:

I just think Kate in general knows her marriage and position is completely dependent on William deciding to stay married to her so she and her mother push these stories to try and make sure William can’t walk away because she’s so “important” to the monarchy. And perhaps to boost public opinion of Kate.

Kate may think Rose is his Camilla (Camilla didn’t even want to be Camilla) but I doubt Rose wants to be HRH The Duchess of Cambridge. She’s already got a title, social standing, 2 homes, invitation to the “glamorous” royal events, no scrutiny and freedom and privacy. Why give that up to be the wife of a man who’s constantly angry and for public scrutiny whenever she says, does and wears anything?

      • HeatherC says:

IMO if Kate manages to hold on long enough to become Princess of Wales, she’s set. I really don’t think the Firm will “allow” a divorce of that magnitude again (especially financial). They may not approve a divorce at all, knowing full well if they cut Kate loose, she’ll spill to anyone listening (through “sources” of course) what she knows about how the sausage is made in that family.

Camilla seems to be accepted now as part of the Charles package, but it wasn’t automatic and PWT doesn’t have the time Charles had to fix his image, we already know he’s so bad at PR to start with.

      • Bess says:

If William and Kate divorce, she’s not going to be left out in the cold. Kate is still the mother of the future king. That gives the Middletons some leverage.

      • Sofia says:

@Bess Maybe it’ll be the same leverage Diana got as the mother of the future King?

      • Gabby says:

HeatherC, today’s Firm may not permit a W&K divorce, but the Charles Firm might, and the Wills Firm means all bets are off. Unless the Courtiers are so powerful that they cannot be fired, and they might very well be. I think that Coutiers will want to keep Kate, because it is just so much trouble to start over with someone else. I am so grateful M&H escaped.

      • Beach Dreams says:

Rose would be more a Penelope than a Camilla. She has the perfect lifestyle and arrangement with her husband; she’ll never leave that for the gilded cage of royal life. Whoever might become William’s Camilla is someone who’s either unknown to the public or a known person who hasn’t been linked to him (yet).

      • Nic919 says:

George IV treated his wife Caroline of Brunswick quite poorly so there is no guarantee of anything even being consort, especially as the system is set up to protect the monarch at all costs.

And Diana was only lifted to sainthood after her death. The tabloids treated her quite poorly up until the news of the accident was made public. There are even covers of articles attacking her the day after the accident because they went to press before the news of the accident was made public.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

        Heatherc
If William divorces Kate it will not be a huge financial hit to him as it stands now. His personal wealth is what Diana left him. It will be HUGE once the queen passes and he takes over the ducky of Cornwall which Charles has built up.

It’s in Kate’s best interest to hang on until after the queen passes. It’s in William’s best to cut the cord before he becomes the prince of Wales.

Side not to everyone talking about rose threatening Kate’s marriage. William has been linked to so many side pieces and apparently got very heavy with one when he was said to be doing his bespoke certificate program. Kate lived with her parents mostly and William lived in a private residence. And silly to think he lived alone. He also never found the time to visit Kate or his infant, but was never showing up to his classes either.

We know this from the pity Kate articles that came out with Middleton praises.

      • Donna B. says:

@Cecilia, you know, I think you’re right because there was a retweet of a picture posted on twitter after the funeral showing those three in the church; kate was standing next to Harry, leaning into him; Harry was in the middle between kate & William; & William was on the other side of Harry looking off to the side at whatever was taking place in the front. William was standing off with not a care in the world. It was as though he couldn’t care less if kate was standing next to him. The original poster wrote in a foreign language describing the picture & then the person who retweeted the picture wrote in english how creepy kate looked leaning into Harry–like a stalker.

  8. Summerlover says:

This morning the headlines on The Fail was how it was all Prince Charles play …he dismissed the cars and made everyone walk and this the brothers reunited. The Kate story became a footnote. Clearly someone isn’t happy with this embiggening. Aren’t they embarrassed that people can see through this game? Do they take everyone to be idiots to fall for this obvious sham?

    • Becks1 says:

The cars were weird, bc then we saw these empty cars driving past the people walking. If I was in those heels I would have been like “hey please stop I’m not walking up this hill” lol.

So if that’s what the Mail is saying now, its clear that Kate’s PR went a step too far and Charles is trying to claim credit.

      • JT says:

If Charles was so bothered by Kate’s bulls*t, than he should have put the kibosh on it a long time ago. Kate has been taking swipes at Charles for years now, and up until last week. They have allowed her to be to comfortable for too long. She has no problem leaking against everyone in that family, including her own husband, as well as Charles. She’s even using Philip’s death and the queen’s grief to embiggen herself. Too little, too late.

      • Becks1 says:

He absolutely should have – I think he tries somewhat at times (like right now, less than 24 hours after Kate is labeled a peacemaker and the rock of the monarchy, we’re hearing that it was Charles, not Kate) but for some reason he is a little “softer” than he should be. I think if he had pushed back hard on the Middleton PR at the beginning things would look different now.

      • windyriver says:

The other item and photo that got some play was Kate throwing her arm around Charles’ shoulder outside the church, with reports on how she was comforting him. Maybe that piece of theater by Kate was a step too far.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

I noticed that. Kate and her ma trying to edge out the first in line will not be tolerated. The drama and in fighting and briefing will be beyond compare when the queen goes.

      • Seraphina says:

THIS. Ma Middleton may be able to ply Wills and get away with what she wants, but Charles lays his head in Cam’s lap and will come out fighting Ma Middleton. She better watch out. He did not answer his own son’s phone calls, he can do a lot worse to those he does not care for.

    • equality says:

If I were Charles I would be getting sick of this embiggening. Or even any of the other royals who put in far more time and effort than Kate does should be getting sick of it. The trend in royal articles seems to be that the men can’t speak or move without a woman to tell them what to do.

      • Courtney B says:

The Gloucesters do as much or more than these two. The number of the Duke’s patronages are three times William’s. And he was always supposed to be an actual working Royal—an architect. His brother’s death in a plane crash ended that soon after Richard married. He and his wife have done their duties for forty years. I’d be so pissed if I were them given this was never supposed to be their role. I’d love it (in an immature but I don’t care way) if they leaked anti Cambridge stories.

    • Asking for a friend says:

I agree – I think they want people to believe she’s too perfect for William to cast aside.

      • Merricat says:

Lol. Nobody who has been paying attention thinks that Kate Middleton is perfect, or even in the same neighborhood as perfect.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

        Merricat
And everyone paying attention knows William cannot do any better.

    • Dilettante says:

Maybe now that his father has passed, Charles will put on his big boy pants and act like the leader of the family.

      • Jaded says:

I sure hope so. He’s been a waffling, hand-wringing wimp for far too long and allowed his family to devolve into the Hatfields and the McCoys. Well done Charles. You’ve condoned the belittlement, racism and hatred of your own son and DIL by your complete lack of support in bringing the BM to heel and defending your family publicly. This is the elephant in the room and it’s not going away.

  9. Harper says:

I called this yesterday that the press this week was going to be about Kate being cordial and welcoming to Harry despite Mean Meghan having drawn Kate into the Oprah mess. This is Kate and CarolE correcting the Commonwealth Service BitchFace Last Impression. It’s not about anything other than Kate unable to withstand even a minuscule percentage of the bad press that she and her jealous husband and mother threw at Meghan for several years.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Precisely. However, you can’t unring a bell. Kate is liked by royalists because she is white but she is not loved and adored. I was actually shocked that even the BBC’s excessive coverage of the death of Prince Philip drew the highest number of complaints from viewers despite him being consort for 73 years. Most of the public see the RF for the farce that it is.

    • bamaborn says:

This just seems to be a continuation of something larger going on behind the scenes of these two camps. Don’t think Ma Middleton would be so brazenly hoisting Kate on top of the heap if they didn’t feel threatened. Something is amiss that only time will reveal.

  10. Blues clues says:

I like Kate. To me the whole media and gossip that surrounds any family or celebrity is crazy. They are all humans and will make mistakes. Being that I find some manipulative and obsessed with themselves and are atrocious.
The amount of pressure and invasion into these people lives can make them react in ways we will never know.

    • Kalana says:

Nah. Kate is still racist and a shameless opportunist. A Top CEO at that at least and still actively running to the press to use other people and praise herself.

People really fall all over themselves to make excuses for white women.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Kate is a mean girl pure and simple. We saw her at last year’s CW service. She was cold, unwelcoming and blatantly rude. We saw her maskless taking advantage of a dead girl’s vigil. We’ve seen her true colours. We’ve also seen her at the funeral staging conversations and look at me photos. So no. Mistakes are one thing but her machinations, leaks and embiggening campaigns are on a different level.

    • Haylie says:

Pushing a pregnant woman into suicidal ideation because of envy is not a mistake. It’s a coordinated plan to take out the competition.

That’s who Kate is. A monster.

    • WithTheAmerican says:

“ I find some manipulative and obsessed with themselves and are atrocious.” you mean the person who posed at a funeral and arranged flattering, photoshopped photos of herself at said funeral?

Or the person who arranged photos of herself at a vigil for another dead person. Oh, wait. Same person.

    • Melissa says:

I don’t mind her either — I like checking out the clothes and the jewels though that has been sorely lacking in royal watching over the last year. I guess it depends on whether or not you buy into the intricate stories we weave to explain the simplest of gestures or photos.

I am not British though so the whole idea of a Monarchy is just weird to me…they DO get on with the pomp and circumstance though which is part of the fascination folks have I guess.

    • equality says:

A lot of stuff is made up but if Kate can be defended for miniscule things in the Tatler article and for botox use, she could put out a release about the “Meghan made her cry” deal. It would actually make her seem more of a decent person.

    • Lila says:

I just love how a white woman can get away with EVERYTHING. We saw Kate go after Tatler for daring to say she was a top CEO and was exhausted for having to work more and NOT once attempted to correct the record on Meghan. No amount of media pressure and invasion would cause me to throw my pregnant, suicidal sister in law under the bus.

    • Amy Bee says:

Nah, she sought to assassinate Meghan’s character and made attempt to correct the record when she had the chance. That wasn’t a mistake.

    • Alexandria says:

For me, I will never like Kate. She may look nice sometimes and I won’t talk about her weight or face here BUT I will not like her at all. Her bullying Meghan and taking advantage of a dead woman are unforgivable. She is really a piece of work and TOB and BRF 100% deserves her.

    • Gabby says:

BAH! All we were told during Mexit is that Meghan “knew what she was signing up for”, and should have “adjusted”.

You know who REALLY knew what she was signing up for? Kate. Kate who changed her university, took a gap year, and chose her major solely to place herself in front of William. Kate who had what, 10 years of dating him to find out how the palace works? So she was ready. She just wanted it to be easy.

    • Jaded says:

Kate is as cold as ice. She’s in a dead marriage to a horrible man and her one and only goal is to make it to Princess of Wales status. She is just as responsible for the horrific treatment of Meghan and, by association, Harry, as William is. She’s a lazy, jealous and vacuous excuse of a human being who will throw anyone, including her own father-in-law, brother-in-law and his wife, under the bus to embiggen her bony ass.

    • Sid says:

There is no amount of pressure or invasion in the world that will allow me to sit back while my pregnant sister-in-law is attacked for something I did. Kate is a nasty person like her husband, plain and simple.

      • Nic919 says:

I agree. It is cruelty to let your own sister in law be attacked over a lie. You have to be a real bitch to keep silent over something like that, especially when you know your sister in law was struggling during her pregnancy.

Prior to Meghan confirming what really happened and the video of the commonwealth day service, perhaps you could be a “both duchesses” person, but after that, you are openly supporting a truly cruel person and it says so much about the love of white supremacy that you would still “like” a person who has done such monstrous actions.

  11. Lily P says:

I mean she’s the epitome of all that the Crown stands for so sure she can be the rock. Wouldn’t personally want to uphold a racist institution whose very premise is based on class hierarchy.

  12. (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Did anyone else pick up on the point that said Kate “spent time with Phil at Wood Farm *going over what her future role would be* when William is king” ?????????

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH *breath* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Pull the other one.

    • Lemons says:

They may have had that conversation, but Kate will be an old bird that doesn’t do any work IF she makes it that far. If William is smart, he’ll be looking for an actress, environmental scientist, a physicist, botanist, artist etc. ANYONE who will actually hit the ground running while Kate continues to mother her children. Philip knew this.

If I were William, that would be the reason for divorce. I need to start working, my wife doesn’t have the same work ethic, and I need someone who is willing to work for the country, not just our kids and the jewelry.

    • Elvie says:

I barked when I read this. They maybe took the kids over to visit a handful of times for a few minutes.

  13. Lauren says:

When Carole goes for the PR she certainly goes heavy handed. This piece again has her fingerprints all over it. Why are we getting so many Keen Guevara is the rock of the monarchy, the lynchpin, the king maker articles? Is everything so rotten in house Keenbridge? Does Baldingham have a live in companion with him, while he lives separate from his give? Is this Carole trying to remind him that she knows were the bodies are? I really don’t get this PR campaign. About Keen being the conciliatory chief of the brothers I will say this: if when Harry gets back to California it comes out that nothing was resolved during his stay in the UK, it will be Meghan’s fault because she certainly brainwashed him as soon as he got back.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

Carole needs to give the obvious BS PR a rest. This story is next level ridiculous!

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Kate is a shallow slippery rock and someone needs to tell her Hyacinth Bucket mom that Kate being the FF Queen consort doesn’t make her the FF Queen Mother.

      • Nic919 says:

The Queen Mum was many things but she wasn’t lazy like Kate. She also didn’t hide away during a national disaster like Kate did. Carole needs to stop smoking her neighbouring farm’s supply before she sends these articles to her press buddies.

    • Belli says:

      To quote Game of Thrones..

Any Top CEO who must say, “I am the lynchpin” is no true lynchpin.

      • JT says:

This is not a good look and I don’t know why the Firm is allowing this narrative to continue. Really? Kate is what’s keeping the monarchy together and not the queen? Or Charles? Or William? This makes the royals look incredibly weak to seem dependent on a 40 year old woman who can barely show up once a week for a zoom call without collapsing from exhaustion.

      • Chrissy (The Original) says:

        @JT
Never mind that the Top CEO can’t string five words together.

  14. MattyLove says:

Sometimes I think of this all as though it’s happening back in the 1500s and wait for Kate/William to order someone banished to a dungeon or…worse.

    • My3cents says:

They would have loved to be living then. Baldimort could rage all day with no one keeping him in check (off with their heads) and Keenot could emotionally terrorize all those around her, and not pretend to give a shit about duties.

      • CuriousCole says:

I’m glad I’m not the only one who suspects W&K long for ye olden days of unchallenged royal power. But I’m not sure if Kate grasps that living in such a time would undoubtedly end with her losing her beloved wiglet, along with the rest of her head. William would absolutely pull a Henry VIII on her.

    • Stacy Dresden says:

    • Stacy Dresden says:

Can Harry assemble an army and take the crown? Let’s make this interesting 16th C style

  15. Nic919 says:

I am still trying to figure out where that white wall is located because no one else is around her which is pretty bizarre considering that there was staff, security and even the other family members. And clearly a photographer was waiting for her right by the car, which did not happen for anyone else in attendance.

And pretending Carole Middleton taught her manners is hilarious. She was caught on camera freezing out Harry and Meghan last year. She’s a pathetic mean girl who is clearly desperate to counteract the truth Meghan revealed of her complicity in using white Karen tears against Meghan.

    • Kalana says:

Carole is pretty much universally known as pushy which is fine in some contexts. There was that article about Michael Middleton being the one to smooth things over at Party Pieces.

      • Belli says:

There was an article about how Carole would send 71 emails a day to employees.

Which when you consider that palace Staff were complaining about Meghan sending 5…

    • TeamMeg says:

I wonder if this pic was taken when she first got into the car?

      • Robin says:

I wondered that, too. It was very staged looking, as if the intent wasn’t to get somewhere but to capture a shot.

    • Tessa says:

Carole apparently approved of her brother Gary slamming Harry and Meghan. Of all people to pick to slam anyone else! Uncle Gary and all his bad behavior.

  16. Sofia says:

    Give it a rest Carole.

  17. Becks1 says:

I’m nauseous from all the sugar in this article. This is just ridiculous.

First – no, Harry doesnt feel guilty for “causing Kate hurt.” Why would he? KATE is the one who was mean to Meghan leading up to her wedding, KATE is the one who leaked the story to Camilla Tominey to begin with (or her mother did), KATE is the one who refused to correct the story for years. KATE should be the one apologizing.

Second – no, she didnt play peacemaker or have diplomatic skills or anything. she just walked away from the church.

This – yes, Carole and Kate are wading into dangerous territory. It’s Charles and William whose reputations took the biggest hit in the interview (rightfully so, I’m not arguing that point) so THEY need to be the ones to rehab their images by reconciling with Harry. Kate can’t take credit for that in the PR war.

  18. MerlinsMom1018 says:

I may be in the minority here, but I actually thought she looked really appropriate in that outfit. (I didn’t even have a problem with the buttons).
My bigger thought is, exactly HOW much more weight can the child lose before she disappears entirely???
As I have said before, I’m no fan of hers, but the mama and grandma in me just wants to feed her.

    • Cessily says:

She is extremely underweight and it is very reminiscent of Lady Di, makes you wonder if the price of being a Princess is anxiety and eating disorders along with Tabloid abuse (whoever is the decided target of the week, month or year..)
I hope that her first words to PH were, “I apologized to Meghan now I want to apologize to you..” but that seems unlikely since they waited so long after the interview and had to many targeted leaks and articles.

      • MerlinsMom1018 says:

        @Cessily
Yeah I got those same vibes. I remember Princess Diana looking extremely underweight for her height (IIRC she was about 5’10″?)
I don’t know how tall Kate is, but she just doesn’t look healthy.

    • cassandra says:

I remember how she looked during the girlfriend days and always thought she had a great athletic figure. I remember wanting to look as good as she did. Now she looks frail.

      • Andrea says:

If this was a gielfirend of ours, I would have to state my concern for her well being. She looks frail and unhealthy.

  19. Abby says:

wowwwwww. Such fawning. I on’t know why I am so shocked. They’re really trying to make her happen, huh?

This sounds like Middleton camp for sure. I dont think William or Charles would be happy about this narrative.

ETA I do think she looked beautiful, but she did not do anything but act appropriately at this very public funeral. Nothing to get a gold star for.

  20. Lightpurple says:

In that car picture, she looks like the villainess in a 1930s film.

Queen Elizabeth is not going to rely on that silly woman for anything. Neither will Anne, who’s probably laughing at this attempt to portray Kate as a rock.

    • Kalana says:

But Kate picks out her own clothes sometimes! And she borrows and wears the Queen’s stuff! She is a rock!

  21. Jais says:

Williams biographer Matt Hoey is quoted in the article. Is he writing a book about William or did he already? Not a source I recall.

  22. S808 says:

    1. I’m sorry but she is sooo skinny I’m actually worried.
    2. We shouldn’t have to be told she’s the rock. We knew Philip kept everyone in line via action. Actually BE the rock Kate and then maybe you’ll convince the rest of us.

    • February-Pisces says:

Her waist looks so tiny in comparison to her shoulders and she’s in a thick winter coat. I wonder if she still gets her period? Why aren’t her stans worried? they would rather believe she lives in a fairytale than believe something is wrong.

      • Jaded says:

Something is very wrong and it’s been wrong for a long time. She’s clearly wayyyyy out of her depth and being manipulated by her mother, William, the courtiers and the BM who slavishly elevate her from a vapid Doolittle to the saviour of the royal family. My guess is she’s going to crack at some point, maybe even hospitalized or undergo therapy in secret for an eating disorder and other anxiety-related problems.

  23. Kalana says:

Win at Prince Philip’s funeral? But it’s not about her?

Kate won for over a year by staying silent about making Meghan cry or her crappy comment about the Lindo wing photocall. Or the Flybe stunt etc.

The horse is out of the barn on this one. There’s no more insisting that Kate is some fragile victim with no agency.

  24. kyliegirl says:

She is such the rock that her loving husband wasn’t concerned where she was and made her walk in the street as he and Harry walked on the sidewalk. All is not well in court Cambridge.

    • LaurenMichelle says:

William seems very dismissive of Kate, as if he resents her. Although, Will is a miserable cad, and Kate must be incredibly strong willed to tolerate him. Calculating Kate is how I see her. She is very much like her mother.

  25. line says:

We have to deduce from this considering that she is Kate the Peacemaker, Kingmaker, the boulder of the whole royal family ”is the reason to explain why why she is the laziest royal member since
    9 years.

  26. Mina_Esq says:

Hahahah this is hilarious. Rocks can also sink you to the bottom of the lake, Kate.

    • Sarah says:

That part. Paper beats rock…divorce papers even moreso. If they got rid of Diana, they’ll get rid of you, Kate.

  27. heygingersnaps says:

They really are going over the top in making her happen. *barf

  28. JT says:

I know Kate’s look was a hit here, but I think it does her no favors. She looks like Camilla’s contemporary. That outfit ages her considerably. And my goodness is she looking slim.

    • Nic919 says:

I do find it weird that so many stans are calling the look stunning. Is that really the goal when you attend a funeral? A wedding perhaps, or some kind of other event sure, but this was a funeral.

      • Becks1 says:

I think its weird that they say – “she’s stunning, she’ll be the perfect queen.” I guess looks are all that matter in their view?

    • Ann says:

I mean, she looks good aside from being too thin (but to some people there is no such thing as too thin). I think the outfit is slightly overkill. The big diagonal bow thing is dated and too dramatic , and might be fun on a party dress for a more light-hearted occasion but here it’s distracting. Pearls are appropriate, but pearls with a big flashy centerpiece are not. She’s wearing too much eye makeup, it’s too glam a look for a funeral. I like the hat.

  29. Alexandria says:

So rota rats, stop covering Harry and Meghan!

  30. lanne says:

Kate is who they are stuck with. She’s the only younger royal who has any vestige of the projected glamour the royal family needs. She bought into the patriarchy survivalist notion that “there can be only one of us” instead of realizing what the possibilities of partnership with Meghan could bring to her. Ironically, Meghan was Kates only chance to make something of herself and build a separate role for herself: a role independent of William, her mother, and the courtiers. Two women working together, instead of 2 women competing against each other, would have created new space for both women—they could have supported and helped each other for mutual benefit. They wouldn’t have even needed to like each other to do it. Many of us said here how the world would have eaten up pictures of Kate and the kids making food from meghans cookbook, or Kate wearing smart works clothes. Meghan could have helped Kate learn to be a better public speaker, Kate could have helped Meghan navigate the courtiers. That would have been the true 21st century royal story.

But here we are with Kate at the forefront. The future future Queen with no interests, no charisma, no curiosity, no charm. She really belongs in a regency romance novel. Her only preoccupation seems to be her looks and status and trying to “win” the tabloid game. I don’t think she, nor her mother, realize that for the tabloids, no one is above scrutiny forever. What coin will she have to trade on when, not if, the tabloids turn on her?
Unlike Meghan, Kate has no powerful friends. What friends she has are Williams friends. I hope it’s all worth it to her. I hope she’ll be able to find her own discrete side piece in time, but that would be dangerous as well. Maybe William will be kind enough to arrange one for her. I’m not even being snide here. I believe that’s what it would take to keep it from becoming public.

    • Mina_Esq says:

Imagine if they had modelled their relationship after that of Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden during the Obama administration. They could have had joint projects and shown a united front. Their respective profiles would have been elevated even more, and all of that success would have reflected well on their husbands. But no, Kate is too insecure for any kind of partnership outside of William. Meghan came ready to play ball for the team, while Kate forgot that they were on the same team.

    • Sofia says:

“Unlike Meghan, Kate has no powerful friends.”

Reminds me when the Duke of Northumberland’s daughter Melissa Percy divorced Thomas Van Straubenzee (sp?) and she basically said she lost pretty much all her friends (save a few). And this is the daughter of a Duke and so a fully fledged aristo in her own right. If that happened to her, it would happen to Kate.

      • Sid says:

You don’t get much grander or older than the Percy line. Yet Melissa was still frozen out. Yeah, this would be a battle Kate would not win.

      • Kalana says:

That’s very true. Kate does seem to lack powerful friends even after 10 years. And seeing how George Percy and Pippa were/are friends, it’s not because of her middle-class roots.

Was Melissa frozen out just because she left Thomas Van Straubenzee? I wonder what the story was behind that.

    • equality says:

I have to wonder if Will and Kate both actually thought Harry would be the third wheel and be Kate’s side piece so Will could go his own way. Will, at the least, let Harry pick up the slack at escorting her and being a gentleman while he ignored her.

      • Chrissy (The Original) says:

If PWT thought that scenario was possible, he truly is delusional and doesn’t know Harry at all. Kate, given her overt flirting with Harry over the years, might be game though. Sick! To think that Harry has no say in how choosing his own path in life is unbelievable.

      • Gabby says:

It’s funny how your theory would be completely disturbing to normal people, but for this family It’s actually within the realm of the possible.

  31. ABritGuest says:

Yeah being an on camera mean girl at the CW day service & then being exposed as letting a lie about the wedding rehearsal stand has Kate’s camp shook & they are working with the press to rehab her image. The press signalled she would be the peacemaker earlier last week & she played her part. That invisible contract… Also suggests that Kate has a lot of power over her image.

But clearly Clarence House isn’t feeling it as they have put out stories about Charles being the peacemaker between the brothers 🍿

There’s something up though. There’s been lots of pieces about how integral Kate is to Will& the future of the monarchy but at the same time people like Robert Lacey & Arthur Edward’s have said it’s constitutionally important for the brothers to resolve their feud. Then this weekend royal commentators were saying it again. CNN had article that whilst Bill has his wife, Bill needs Harry as only one that really understands him& knows the royal role. Makes me wonder why these commentators feel Bill needs Harry so much & why top CEO who has been in the role for a decade isn’t enough. But also wonder if Kate is feeling dispensable & these puff pieces are to counter that.

    • JT says:

This right here. Why isn’t Kate the Philip to William’s Elizabeth? It seems like the only people who think William needs Kate are Kate and CarolE. It’s the consort’s job to support the monarch, not the sixth in line. And the way William is acting he’s definitely not getting the support from Harry that he desperately needs according to literally everyone else. Things about to get interesting.

    • ArtHistorian says:

It is not constitutionally important for Harry and William to resolve their feud. That is a ridiculous thing to say – the only person that actually has constitutional duties is the Monarch (and there’s only one person that can inhabit that office). Unless they are implying that William is incapable of doing his future constitutional duties as a monarch in a couple of decades time, which would be actually the really worrisome for the entire institution.

I can see why Lacy might present this kind of overly dramatic argument – after all, he has a book out about the brother’s and their rift. He’d like it to sell.

      • JT says:

The press seems to be implying or downright saying that William cannot do the job alone. He either needs Kate (sure Jan) or Harry to do his duties. William’s incandescence might also be due to the fact that nobody, except for the bots, thinks he up to the task of being monarch. If they had any faith in him, Harry leaving would’ve been a blip in their radar.

      • ABritGuest says:

ArtHistorian it seems like hyperbole for sure & I assumed the press were pushing for the brothers to reconcile so they have access to Sussex leaks again. But a few William profiles have talked about how his reign won’t be as he envisaged without Harry alongside him.

I wonder if BTS people think William needs Harry’s support for his reign. Which is odd as I assumed by time William was king, Harry’s role would naturally reduce as George & his siblings stepped into prominence& Harry had talked about his limited opportunity to make an impact.

However this CNN piece said William would need Harry for advice even if Harry didn’t return for royal duties. But these same people have always said William is the smarter one and isn’t that where top CEO or the gold plated advisors come in? I’m intrigued by this idea William needs Harry so much.

      • Jaded says:

William can’t do the job – he’s made that abundantly clear. Kate can barely string 5 words together without sounding like an utter dunce. Harry was always meant to be the one to do the heavy lifting while William took the credit but fortunately he came to his senses and finally realized what a horrible person TOB was, along with his viper of a wife. Jealousy and narcissism is a lethal combination that will completely fukc up a sibling relationship, I know first hand.

      • ArtHistorian says:

“I’m intrigued by this idea William needs Harry so much.” – so am I because that is a MUCH larger issue that the deep rift between the brothers. However, I don’t know whether these commentators actually know anything significant that the public doesn’t know – or whether they themselves are invested in this image of Diana’s sons shoulder-to-shoulder that has been built by the press for a very very long time.

One would think that the Windsors would quash this particular narrative (William is dependent on Harry’s support and advice) quickly because the underlying implication is that William is unable and unfit for the top job. If the narrative that the brothers need to reconcile because William needs Harry to help him being king is allowed to be repeated too much and for too long, then people just might raise the question WHY? And that is not a question that any of the Palaces want raised because it really puts the entire institution on a very slippery ground.

      • Becks1 says:

@ArtHistorian – that’s what makes it so weird, right? It’s a narrative being pushed by people like Lacey (who was obviously promoting a book about the rift, so he needed to make it act like they had to reconcile OR ELSE) but RRs have pushed it as well and there have been a few random comments here and there by non RR journalists/reporters. It’s something that they all seem to accept as fact – that William needs Harry in order to survive as king – and its weird because as you said, constitutionally there is no need for Harry.

Maybe it’s as simple as PR, the public likes Harry so they want him front and center; maybe it’s as simple as William’s laziness, he wants Harry to do the heavy lifting while he parades around in his flashy uniforms.

But whatever the reason, it’s become a constant refrain and I cant tell if KP is trying to quash it and failing or not even trying, but its problematic because the question then becomes – why on earth isn’t William capable of carrying out his duties on his own?

  32. Sue Denim says:

ugh, and on a shallow note, I love every piece she’s wearing separately but all together, the more I look at it, the more I just see a total mess, so much going on up top w the bow and the necklace and the drop earrings and the fascinator. Especially for a funeral. Kind of ridiculous actually.

    • Chrissy (The Original) says:

I think she should have chosen to wear only one of those four items you mentioned. Traditionally, clothing should be modest and jewelry should be low-key for a funeral so the focus stays on the deceased. I think the bow on the dress was too flashy IMO. A plain neckline would have been more apropo. The necklace and earrings was her showing off that she has access to HM’s jewelry IMO. Simple pearl studs would have have been more modest and together with the hat and veil, it would have looked fine. Also, her 6 inch heels were ridiculous. Overall, I agree with you, her look was overdone and definitely not a solemn look for a funeral. I think she knew she’d be seen by millions and wanted to stand out but she looked completely inappropriately over-accessorized and even matronly.

      • ArtHistorian says:

Kate has never known how to accessorize properly. Either she choses the wrong accessories or the piles on too many.

In this case she should most definitely have ditched the necklace, kept the earrings and the coat (I don’t find the detailing inappropriate) and gone with an understated hat. Then the detailing on the coat would have carried the ensemble with the earrings as an elegant accent.

When you wear a piece of clothing with a prominent design element (like the neckline/front of the coat) then you make that single element the focus of the entire ensemble. That veiled hat and the large necklace compete with the coat. Not to mention that such a large statement necklace is completely inappropriate at a funeral.

      • Amy Too says:

I wonder if the mask does something to how we perceive the outfit? Without it, there would be more space between the necklace and the earrings/hat, and maybe that would’ve helped? But even then, I still don’t think the necklace goes with the coat or the earrings. Maybe if she had at least turned it around so the bejeweled clasp was in the back, it might’ve been better? I liked the hat with the veil and I liked the bow on the coat. I wish the buttons were either much smaller and less noticeable, or gone altogether. Have the coat close with hook and eye type clasps on the inside so that we don’t see any type of closure. Or concealed snaps. The bow is enough detail. I also didn’t really think the earrings went with the necklace, which is weird because pearls and diamonds should go with pearls, but the choker seemed like a big gaudy piece you’d see on a 90 year old Victorian woman, and the earrings seemed more timeless, daintier (or at least not as oversized like the necklace), and younger. They’re a little Art Deco and more fun that a lot of the queens jewels. Like the earrings could be worn to dinner by a rich aristo flapper girl in the 1920s, and her 90 year old grandma would be wearing that choker that she’s been holding onto since 1840.

  33. Amy Bee says:

The embiggening in this piece is over the top. It’s clear she tipped off the Telegraph about what she was going to do at the funeral. I don’t think it was very successful but it looked good for the cameras and it gave the press something to talk about. The waving off the cars by Charles was to give the press some pictures of the family in grief and to get the shot of William and Harry walking together.

Since the Oprah interview, Kate has been trying to recover from the revelation that she was the one that made Meghan cry and this act on Saturday was another attempt at repairing her image. As for her impeccable manners, we saw them on displace at the Commonwealth Day Service.

  34. Eating Popcorn says:

I want to comment on her dress – I think it is lovely from the waist up but when you see the entire line of the dress on her it is very unflattering. She looks as if her torso is 5′ long. I don’t think it is that great a look. It was all just too much hat, mourner’s veil, earrings, choker, bow, but the full monty – nope. I see it as mourner’s cosplay.

  35. Merricat says:

The necklace AND the bow? Vulgar af.

    • Sue Denim says:

plus drop earrings and the hat, way too too much…

    • Eating Popcorn says:

      @merricat – Yes, too much!

    • AnneSurely says:

Right? That necklace is so tacky for a funeral. Bots yesterday were like bUt PeArLs ArE mOuRnInG jEwElS. Ok.

      • CuriousCole says:

@AnneSurely, two things can be true at once; pearls are mourning jewels and Kate really overdid them. Kate’s never understood how to accessorize. I think the necklace is beautiful on its own but at the funeral, with all the other competing elements of her look, it was waaaaay too much.

        (I love your name btw!)

    • Sid says:

Whoever said it was a very Alexis Carrington at a funeral sort of ensemble nailed it. I rather like the full look but it just feels like too much for this sort of funeral and like it was meant to grab attention. Which I’m sure it was.

  36. Brielle says:

So It was ok that Harry was cordial with everybody cause it was a funeral but other like Charles and Kate can use this occasion to embiggen themselves…I’m just baffled like is this the real world?

    • Merricat says:

Harry doesn’t brag to the press that he’s saving the monarchy with his cordial behavior.

    • Guestwho says:

Did Harry go to the royal rota to make himself look better for having conversations with family members at a funeral?

No. He did not. That’s the difference.

    • Kkat says:

Harry didn’t put out a press statement saying he was saving the monarchy, by being polite.

      Like Keen and Charles did

  37. Phoenix says:

Kate doesn’t have powerful friends!? She does- the royal rats. Take a good look at Kate at that funeral- it represents everything that Kate is- an aristocratic wanna be, social climber, attention seeker. Just like her Ma Carole from whom she learnt those her perfect manners.
And she gets away with all this because of her RR friends.

    • Sofia says:

They’re not /really/ her friends. She’s a means to an end for them i.e sell papers. And for Kate. it’s the same thing (push her as the greatest future future queen) Look back at the pre 2016 coverage to see what her “friends” were writing about her.

    • Becks1 says:

The royal rota would turn on Kate in a heartbeat if/when it is profitable for them to do so. There is no loyalty there. They are only embiggening Kate now because they have Meghan to attack.

    • lanne says:

The ratchet rotas are paid hacks. They do as they’re told. Kate might think they are her friends, but she should read the story about the toad and the scorpion for insight

    • February-Pisces says:

They rota rats might be the only friends she actually has lol, considering no one else in her real life actually likes her. The ratchet rota is what is keeping up her image, and that’s the only thing she lives for. It’s probably why she does whatever it takes to please them.

  38. Courtney B says:

It all still makes me wonder if it was Kate who made the infamous comment . It would still cause serious issues between Harry and William. And Harry said it could cause damage. This could be especially true since the spin now is she’s the ‘rock’, the future, etc. And why Middleton PR is in overdrive in a way we aren’t seeing even with William. Meghan was kind about her but it was also in the context of setting the crying story straight. Just PR wise it was better to go easy on her otherwise the story would be spun that Meghan was trying to make her look bad because (insert reason here). She might have been good enough to apologize but doesn’t mean she didn’t show nastier colors later. My money is still on William though.

  39. carryrose says:

Lol this is from carol jenner pr. Something weird going on. Why would the catherine the great would worry and send out these puff pieces if her position is secure.

My spidey sense says that William is planning something. That’s why Kate is worried. Lol if rose decide she wont be like camilla because Kate was not liked diana. Most of Kate fans are maga and brexit ones.

Also the thing about rose working and she is comfortable in her position etc. Rose loves to work with her charity and she truns out for her charity fundraising.

Recently william talking to miniszing the enagement made me thing about rose. If William ditch Kate and marry her rose have to work in few months for her charity. I think rose wont have problem to work like other european royal where they turn up once in a while.

I think that’s why William is making that decision less exposure.

These two different from William and kate proves that they are not in alignment with each other.

The palace also said there will be no divorce but Peter had one. They even go after autumn. If I were Kate I will be worried too. Her position is not secure.

Within two years queen wont live and William will be over 40 where most men divorce their wife because of midlife crisis.

    • bamaborn says:

Something keeps telling me 🌹 isn’t the paramour, but, Bill’s foil. Again, time will tell.

      • Beach Dreams says:

He may be like his dad and grandpa in that he has multiple ‘companions’ he cares about. Rose is likely one of several. I also feel like there might be someone else that’s making Kate and Carole so panicked.

      • Nic919 says:

When the news first broke out many on social media said they were aware of William cheating, but with a woman that wasn’t Rose. There was some talk of a lawyer in London, others mentioned a banker in London. In any case, it is very likely there is more than just one and it’s possible rose isn’t any of them.

    • Amy Too says:

We keep assuming that Will would marry Rose or whomever his affair partner is if he divorced Kate, and that he would only divorce her so that he could marry someone else but… does he have to? Can’t he just divorce Kate and be “single”? That way Rose, or whoever he wants to date and sleep with, wouldn’t have to give up their old life (and Rose has a great life right now) and jump into the spotlight of being harassed by the British media and join that toxic waste heap of a “family” that is the Windsors.

Will has 3 heirs, that was the only reason he had to get married in the first place. It wasn’t because he had to have a wife/consort if he wanted to be King. He can still be a good dad, and he can coparent and set Kate up nicely somewhere, and can maybe even still spin a family man image by being involved with his kids and saying that he divorced Kate because he didn’t think the marriage was setting a good example for the kids of what a healthy partnership is supposed to be like. Divorcing her BEFORE she and her mom or the press out him as a cheater with a current mistress might make any allegations they do make seem like retaliation from a spiteful ex-wife and her vindictive family.

And Kate is hardly a help to him in any way anyways right now, so if he ditches her and doesn’t replace her, it’s not like he’s losing a hard worker who did 300+ engagements a year, or even someone who helped him socially/politically a lot. And divorcing her and NOT immediately remarrying or introducing a girlfriend would help to smooth over the negative divorce PR. If it was known that he was divorcing her bc he got caught cheating and now he wanted to marry his mistress, that’s going to make him look bad like Charles, and that was a hard thing for Charles to get over and to rehab his image from. But if Will divorces Kate for some other reason—she’s lazy or incompetent and can’t keep up with the job, she’s frail and sickly and the spotlight has proven too much for her, he’s fallen out of love with her, it wasn’t a good idea to marry his college GF just because they’d been together a long time, he maybe feels like the Middletons entrapped him, the Middletons and uncle Gary are horrible people who leak and have drug farms and shady financial issues, Kate was the one who drove Meghan and Harry away, mix and match or whatever—he might look okay. He could be a bachelor who just dates on the side forever, couldn’t he? He gets what he wants, the people sleeping with him get what they want, and they don’t have to give up their current lives and privacy, and he doesn’t have to come out as a cheater who wants to marry his mistress. Win(Will)-win(Rose)-loose(Kate).

      • Beach Dreams says:

Good points. He certainly could stay “single” for a while, but I think that eventually he’d be pushed to marry again because he “needs” a consort. The BRF has already shown that they are hostile to meaningful modernization, and having a King without a consort would likely be a step too far. I’m sure William would love to be a playboy prince/King for the rest of his life, but the palace might actually bear down on him and tell him to find another woman to marry. If, IF he and Kate ever do divorce, it would probably be best for his image if he stayed publicly “single” for a few years afterward.

  40. nutella toast says:

If I knew absolutely nothing about the royal system, I’d think Kate was running for Queen and head monarch of the UK. Seriously – taken at face value, it does nothing to encourage faith in Charles, William, the current Queen, Camilla, or anyone else. It makes everyone look weak except her, and I just can’t understand how Charles in particular isn’t frustrated about this. I know M&H interviews and books probably hurt the confidence in Charles to some degree (if he can’t keep his house in order, how will keep an entire Commonwealth in order) but I think his decreasing favor is as much the fault of Kate and Carol as anyone. It’s a constant drivel of “Charles and/or William are weak”. The first sentence that took great pains to mention her maiden name – set her apart is very telling to me. It’s not William & Kate as the future – it’s just Kate.

  41. Krista says:

Ugh, I almost threw up in my mouth reading this….then had to take a dose of insulin for the sugar shock. Blech….

  42. Phoenix says:

    @Sofia
Ok, you are right. I don’t think that Kate is able to have any real friends, but she definitely has strong allies.

  43. Digital Unicorn says:

Oh Carole you really are the Queen of fan fic – I wonder how long Cain will put up with these stories. Stories that are designed to make him look weak.

  44. Beach Dreams says:

Something is definitely amiss in the Cambridge household. Usually Kate’s PR efforts have *some* kind of inclusion of William, as unflattering as his portrayal might sometimes be in such moments. But this tackiness at the funeral was basically all about her and her alone: ‘Forget the brothers talking, Kate is such an amazing peacemaker; look at how she’s consoling her FIL, how wonderful; she gave such a lovely tribute to Philip and the Queen with her jewelry.’ Seriously???

The whole display by Kate was so blatant and desperately attention seeking. It just feels like she and Carole are obsessed with building herself up to be a pivotal member of the monarchy. I wonder how William feels about this. As their press efforts continue to diverge, *something* has to give…at least one would think so. I’ll be shocked if he/KP doesn’t eventually step in to rein in Kate and Carole.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

It feels to me that Ma is setting Kate up to be the poor martyr that was sacrificed to protect William – there is def serious trouble with that marriage and all these stories do is show that Ma has lost what influence she had over Cain.

William has been making the same mistakes Chuck did – the Cambridge marriage will blow up the same way the Wales marriage did. Top CEO is not going to walk away with the same type of PR that Diana did. Ma and Top CEO have always cosplayed Diana and this narrative is part of that.

    • Jaded says:

Totally agree Beach Dreams and Digital Unicorn. William’s very obvious lack of interest in and respect for her publicly is shameful and Ma Midd is trying desperately to bolster Kate’s image to compensate for his disdain and disinterest. It’s clear that for the most part the Cambridges are living separate lives and Kate is walking on thin ice. Ever since the Rose Hanbury debacle their marriage has spiraled down into a complete sham. I think Kate’s just trying desperately to hang in and suck up to Charles until TQ falls off her perch and she gets the Princess of Wales title, but I don’t see the marriage lasting.

      • CuriousCole says:

@Jaded, ITA but I wonder if would William have taken pains to include Kate references in his stilted remembrance note for Philip if he was actively contemplating divorce?

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Yeah I think she’s hanging on to get Diana’s title but the thing is that’s its not automatic – it has to be conferred on William by his father. Chuck could make him wait a few years before giving it to him – esp if he thinks the marriage won’t last. No way Chuck is going to want another PoW divorce – that title is Kate and Carole’s ultimate cosplay prize.

      • Beach Dreams says:

William used Kate and their kids to not so subtly jab at Harry and Meghan in that awful “tribute.” There wasn’t anything sincere in him boasting about how long his wife got to know Philip compared to Harry’s wife, or how he and his wife would continue to be super dutiful unlike Harry and his wife. I wouldn’t read too much into his inclusion of her in his statement beyond his clear intention to insult his brother and his SIL.

  45. kelleybelle says:

The necklace was too much, way too much. The bow on the dress was enough and the earrings were sufficient. The necklace looks awkward and it’s meant more for wear with a large open neckline, not funeral garb. But it’s Kate …

    • Julia K says:

As was mentioned yesterday, she is wearing evening jewelry to a day event. Overdone. Also, I love the comment ” going to a Dynasty funeral”.

      • Robin says:

Exactly. She often does the evening jewellery at day events, at which point her dangling earrings are bashing into and lying badly on her overcoat collars.

    • CuriousCole says:

I think someone mentioned yesterday that Kate was initially photographed arriving in a different, lower cut ensemble, then realized it was too low-cut to be worn. If she switched last minute, that could explain *some* of the over-doneness but, as Kelley said, it’s Kate. She’s never known how to wear jewelry.

      • Nic919 says:

I saw a picture of Kate wearing a different dress when leaving KP for the service. It was from the Daily Mail and could still be there. But it was the black dress she wore at a Remembrance Day evening event and there was a low cut in the dress but it did display the same necklace.

      • Amy Too says:

I think that’s the dress she’s wearing under the bow coat. You can see in certain full length pictures that she has a black dress under the coat, she has 2 distinct hemlines.

    • Monica says:

She looks like Reba McEntire in the video for “Fancy.” I can excuse Reba because, hey, it was the 80s.

      • HeatherC says:

1990, close enough for me. And let’s not forget Reba played an aging prostitute in that video.

  46. Over it says:

All I have to say is Kate is a devious B . Ain’t no amount of puff pieces will ever make me forget how she can only play nice to Harry when his wife isn’t around or that she let that story Megs made her cry sit unchecked for years. So yeah no Kate is a straight up real life Villain

  47. Tess says:

Someone send Kate to the Middle East and the South China Sea! Much peacemaker, very wow! I mean the bar is ground level for her as long as she continues to play along and toe the line. All she has to do is show up and act decent, outfits do not matter so long as she keeps looking impossibly thin of course, and will keep getting all the flowers as long as it serves William and “the firm”.
The outfit was fine, nothing above and beyond spectacular imo but tasteful, classic. The earrings are cute but I don’t like that “clit shaped choker” even if it is an heirloom diamond piece.

  48. Over it says:

Apparently I have more to say, 1 why is the queen suddenly in need of Kate for guidance and leadership? She seems to have been managing just fine all these years. Of course she would have to drag Kate from her life of vacation and very little work to get said guidance. Second, Charles has a wife, so he is definitely not looking to Kate for anything. Her own husband looks to his garden of roses and Carole Jenner before Kate. The only thing people look to Kate for is Botox, buttons wiglets and bows.

  49. MsIam says:

Sorry but I hate that coat or dress or whatever its supposed to be, that giant bow makes it look cheap. Otherwise, its the usual self promotion from Kate, she’s nothing if not consistent, gotta give her that.

  50. Julia K says:

Just an opinion here but I strongly suspect that the above top photo was set up, posed and staged. Looking straight into the camera without any apparent attempt to move away or show displeasure at the intrusion?

    • Nan says:

I was just going to comment on that. Especially in the car. It’s as she wanted to model her sad look for the day.

    • Beach Dreams says:

It was. The photographer who took that shot was Chris Jackson, husband of Kate’s stylist. He also edits all of the photos he takes of Kate.

      • Robin says:

Yes, I thought it was so picture perfect. Lots of flash and bleaching out of her under eye skin, plus finishing afterwards. It was her “I can look better than Meghan” moment. When things return to meetings in the flesh, and photos in the fresh air, we’ll see how different she looks. Masks and zoom are doing wonders for Kate’s image makers. What the photos were all about, of course, is the power play on the new monarchy. Kate really is enjoying the crest of a wave. What they’ll do with Edward et al is less interesting and worrying than what the royal family intends to do with Andrew. I’ve heard it suggested that Charles is unwell. It is a rumour, of course, but so was Rose…

    • Nic919 says:

It was definitely staged. And before the service was over Camilla Tominey, the Middleton mouthpiece, was already sharing that photo on Twitter. It was very coordinated.

Also… that white wall where she’s standing alone… where is that? No one else is even near a background like that. It looks like a other staged photo.

  51. L4frimaire says:

I don’t know why her saying a few words before retreating is getting so much play. It reminds me from that scene in Marie Antoinette where Kirsten Dunst was positioned to say yes to some statement by the Kings mistress after refusing to acknowledge her for years, and a big deal is made about it at court, and seen as a major thawing. That’s how they amplify even the slightest gesture with these people.

    • IRMAVEP says:

L4 Well said! Love that film and Marie Antoinette’s chill greeting of the King’s mistress only just met the gesture required of her – not a fraction more. I can picture a similar scene playing out if Meghan had attended Philip’s funeral. Thank heavens she didn’t have to go back to the Castle of White Entitlement. I fear she would have been the first sacrificial victim to the new Cult of Prince Philip.

  52. February-Pisces says:

When keen is praised to the heavens, the things people say the most are “she’s so classy, she’s so elegant”. What actions did she actually do for this praise? Nothing, she stood still, walked a little bit, sat down, made small talk, all whilst wearing a nice and expensive outfit. THATS IT.

Body language experts praise the ways she stands saying “she’s saving the monarchy”. When Meghan had success with smart works kate was praised. When women were beaten at the Sarah Everard vigil, she left them to it, only to walk off with more praise as an ‘activist’.

She is praised based on literally no action other than being a human ornament. Of course she is ‘perfect’ she has all the time in the world doing absolutely nothing. How perfect do women look after a 12 hour shift at a hospital, or after they’ve been running around free their kids lol day. Most women are just trying to get through their busy day to worry about being ‘perfect’. She is coddled and spoilt and had never had to work for anything in her life (besides keeping her husband from dumping her). Her life has been made to be absolutely effortless, where she doesn’t even have to lift a damn finger.

Watching people talk about prince Phillips life, his work, his achievements etc, what are they gonna say about Kate? She has achieved nothing.

    • Jaded says:

The praise comes from herself and her meddling Middleton mother feeding the tabloids so it’s nothing more than self-created and empty blandishments.

  53. IRMAVEP says:

Is it just me, or is the Duchess of Cambridge’s image beginning to resemble that of the Duchess of Windsor’s ? Both favoured tight-as-a-tick pristine tailored clothes, severe grooming and lacquered not-a-hair-out-of-place-chignon? Everything about Kate here screams ‘control’ to me – elegant, hard, touch-me-not. She exudes a sort of cold glamour that one might expect to see on a dominatrix in a French film.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Kate in this styling and coat looks very much like Wallis-Simpson, yes!
      Painfully thin too.
Both women have been said to spend wastefully and often. Both have private agendas. Both said to be more grand than the BRF.

    • Lizzie says:

I think you hit the nail n the head

    • swirlmamad says:

Yet the Rats and Bots love to constantly claim Meghan is Wallis 2.0. Projection, projection, projection.

  54. Jay says:

The phrase “when William is King” gets used so many times, it’s uncomfortable. I’m all for displaying ambition, but especially right after a funeral, this seems…crass.

And as for Kate’s “beautiful manners” (which apparently come direct from Carole, nobody else lol), god, comforting Charles and making small talk with Harry is the absolute LEAST she could do! What did this royal expert expect, she was going to trip Harry in the procession and stomp on his fingers or throw eggs at her grieving father in law? Talk about low expectations, that’s embarrassing.

I mean, if we’re just giving out participation trophies today, I’ll have you guys know that not only did I brush my hair before my zoom call this morning, I also made sure my kid had breakfast AND it wasn’t just a half frozen hot dog either. Thank you, yes, I don’t know how I do it. Must be my exceptional upbringing.

  55. IRMAVEP says:

There’s something disturbing emerging in the BM about the Queen which makes me increasingly uncomfortable. It’s evident in The Sun article appearing here, but elsewhere also. That is the Queen’s sudden lack of ‘agency’. If she wishes to have Charles take over a ‘soft regency’, it is for HM to say so, not for The Sun journo, or Richard Kay at the DM to make that announcement. These articles in the BM can be interpreted as other senior royals deciding they are going to control the ageing Queen. She’s going to be escorted everywhere by a member of the RF, for instance. Words or phrases – e.g. ‘soft regency’ are being put in her mouth. I fear that, like many elderly people, she is going to be ‘managed’ for ‘her own good’. She is clearly compus, so she doesn’t need someone – Kate, William or Charles – to treat her otherwise. Am I over – reading? Or is some plan afoot here?

    • Lizzie says:

Am have been uncomfortable with this also.

    • Carolind says:

The British press are writing a load of rubbish about the Queen. OK, maybe some of the female members of the RF are going to be available if she needs someone but she is a tough old bird. She did two engagements last week, she wore the right type of hat so no-one could see her face. She will miss Philip terribly and she has seen a lot more of him the last year but theirs except maybe at the very beginning was never a usual marriage.

She was Queen though primarily, a wife second and a mother third. Being Queen will always be first with her.

      • IRMAVEP says:

Carolind. Of course the BM live and breathe on writing a load of rubbish, so I agree. But this is something akin to an orchestrated campaign IMO. To make the Queen appear as a frail widow in need of support – rather as an experienced monarch with 3/4 of a century of perceived wisdom under her belt and a ruthless pragmatism. Disempower her- by persuade the general public that she is a spent force in need to ‘assistance’, ‘support’, ‘advise’, and controlling.
Think of the Battle of the Palaces which has been playing out for a couple of years or more – involving William at KP, Charles at Clarence House and HM at BP – all with avid courtiers and paid PR consultants pushing their candidate for more influence and for the top job, sooner rather than later. William’s team is particularly keen. He’s removed his more popular, sincere and not-workshy brother Harry. Now he’s campaigning to undermine Charles – that photo of him with his father in a ‘headlock’ spoke volumes, and William is constantly leaking anti-Charles and ‘poor Queen’ snippets to Kay at DM. Only the Queen holds this in stasis so far. If she too is undermined [too 'old', too 'frail', too grief-stricken' ]‘ then William [with Kate's collusion] is positioning himself to be King, sooner rather than later. Yes HM will remain Queen first, BUT only if she is perceived as Monarch, not as merely an’ old, frail lady’.
Something stinks in the state of Denmark. I believe Harry, who loves her most, and Meghan who is intelligent and strategic – might have attempted to block Will’s push for power – and stood by the Queen -were they to hand and not exiled by KP.
As for HM missing Phil, Phil made his choices four years ago when he retired solo to Wood farm to enjoy time with his ‘companion’ Penny B. I believe that the ever pragmatic HM said her goodbyes to him then, not on Saturday last, and once he was gone she embraced a renewed lease of life, wore brighter coloured. joyful clothes, enjoyed more autonomy without Phil’s bullying and interfering, and exhibited, more genuine smiles.

    • Beach Dreams says:

Harry kind of hinted that there’s already an unofficial regency in the interview. He mentioned how the queen’s calendar got filled with appointments she didn’t realize she had, as well as how her staff kept blocking him from securing a meeting with her. Then there’s all those comments he made about Charles, and altogether it seems to paint the picture of Charles unofficially being regent. It seems like he has more power and influence over palace operations than expected. If that IS the case, then this recent talk of a ‘soft regency’ is probably the Firm slowly introducing the changes to the public.

      • IRMAVEP says:

Beach Dreams. Yes you’re right and it’s fine that Chas is operating a ‘soft regency’ on behalf of the Queen and increasing his workload in anticipation of becoming King. My concern is that members of the RF or their minions – at KP, BP or Clarence House – are deliberately peddling a narrative to the Sun and DM and other BM which is aimed at disempowering the Queen – making her appear elderly, frail, incapable – a ‘poor, fragile, little old lady’ rather than the still competent Queen she is. In the days since Phil’s funeral she has already undertaken two solo official engagements, so she’d hardly in a bathchair, needing care. This is not just about a regency – soft or otherwise – it’s about the image of the Queen vis-a-vis the images of Willy’s and/or Charles’s. Someone is ‘white-anting’ the Queen, IMO. The mawkish fuss which has been made about the Queen sitting alone in St George’s Chapel during Phil’s funeral has been the headlines in every British newspaper for days. The tone of these stories robs the Queen of agency, make her look pitiable, incompetent. Some journos have said she cried – though there is no evidence of this. It’s all designed IMO to make either Charles, or Wills, or both look manful, strong, capable monarchs by comparison. I believe it is a strategy, an attempt at a power displacement from the current monarch to one of her successors. And it’s being peddled consistently, especially by R. Kay.

  56. intheknow says:

The BM criticized Meghan for looking at the camera, now Keen Kate is single white femaling Meg and she’s the second coming.

    Vile.

  57. Shawna says:

She didn’t “step in” to the “awkward situation” and fix it … she literally stepped OUT of the situation. Like I said yesterday, imagine how nice it must be if all you have to do to get praise is to *walk away.*

  58. Monica says:

Wow, the British press could publish a book of fairy tales based on their blather about the Keen One. Try hard much?

« and I don’t think there is enough time in her life to hold grudges. »

So we won’t be hearing any more stories about how awful Meghan was to Kate? Mark this day!

  59. Beech says:

    Angling for a Vogue cover?

  60. Cheslsea says:

Ma Middleton has been at it again. She even had to put a pat on the back to herself in her fairy tail.

  61. Margaret says:

Noone is talking about the sun article of kate staring harry down during the funeral. Why?. Some baloney about it being maternal. Kate, weather we talk about it or not, has displayed feeling for harry, and it is over the top. She was dressed for harry. Plus if meghan was there, she would not have been in Harry’s face like that. She did everything she could to get his attention.

    • TigerMcQueen says:

There’s also a Sun tweet today about how it was Charles’s idea for the walk from the funeral so that Harry and Baldemort might talk. So much for Keen Guevara, Peacemaker Extraordinaire. Looks like Clarence House is pushing back on the Kensington/Bucklebury nonsense.

    • February-Pisces says:

She is definitely into him sexually, even obsessively. She can’t stand any woman he has been with, cos she knows he will never be sexually interested in her. It must have killed her watching him be so crazy hot for Meghan. It’s probably why she has always tried to ruin his relationships.

    • swirlmamad says:

Are there photos of/links to this anywhere easily accessible?

  62. Lizzie says:

Is there anywhere she doesn’t bring her own pap? Phipps funeral and a murdered young woman’s memorial. She is disgusting, there is literally no dead body she won’t climb over to get her pic taken. The funeral was not about you Waity, leave the bling, bows and photoshopping paps for an appropriate time.
The rest of the ladies got it right, Waity will always be a social climber who doesn’t fit in no matter what her mother plants in the tabloids. We all know Rose would have nailed it.

  63. A says:

You know what…Waity, you can have this one. Go ahead, please, and continue to write such cringeworthy drivel for the tabloids. It’s pretty clear that you need it, desperately. It’s pretty clear from the absolutely gracious interview Meghan gave about you that you’re a dumb, petty b-tch, and there’s plenty more of that behaviour out there for people to find out and shine a light on. There’s probably enough to write 10 Tatler articles about it.

So you know, go ahead and embiggen yourself. Like I said, you and your bald husband clearly are going to need it.

  64. MerryGirl says:

Keen Kate couldn’t be more ‘in your face’ if she tried at this funeral. She knew exactly where to look for the camera in that car shot. She was staring directly at Harry in the church and inserting herself in his path after the service. Never mind the over the top pearls borrowed from the Queen’s vault. Everything screamed look at me, me, me. She got the headlines she wanted so now she’s the peace maker and rock the monarchy depends on. Steups.

    • Carolind says:

Kate is only the rock in the press that supports her and with the royal fanatics. Most ordinary people could not give a darn. I talk about the Queen and her children a bit with my mother but that is all. My 27 year old daughter is not really interested, although in a programme, before Meghan’s wedding about British royal brides, she thought the Quern the most beautiful by a mile and she and Philip a really glam couple.

I have always been interested in the royals although I do believe all people are equal but my life would be duller without them!

  65. Valerie says:

I think of her as the reincarnation of Anne Boleyn. Family and all.

  66. nostromo says:

kate will hold this monarchy together with blood magic and hatred which is a cooler headline IMO

  67. Margaret says:

It hard not to comment, when you see kate shamelessly, throwing herself in another woman’s husband’s face, and in front of her husband. Trashy is not good looking, more desperation is theook. I truly believe there was a personal affair between them. That she can’t let go of. Imo I hope harry doesn’t succumb to her desperate plans.

    • Tessa says:

She is decidedly not Harry’s type. He would know better and she is upset that he married someone else and she can’t be the center of attention of two princes anymore.

    • swirlmamad says:

Nothing ever happened between Kate and Harry. She’s clearly got a crush but anything more is wishful conjecture by Keen’s stans. He might have felt friendship towards her before he met Meghan and he was always stuck doing engagements with her and his brother (and before he became “enlightened”), but that ship has long since sailed now.

  68. Carolind says:

Absolute tripe that Kate is like the Queen Mother. The Queen Mother did not even want to be part of the BRF. Although she was a member of the British aristocracy and as a member of the RF hugely extravagant she had huge charisma and could get on with people in a way Kate could not. She also really knew how to “work” the nervous, hot tempered George VI.

    • Tessa says:

THe Queen Mother had a work ethic that Kate sorely lacks.

    • A says:

The Queen Mother was as thirsty as they could come. The biggest PR propaganda coup that the RF ever managed to accomplish was convince people of this idea that the QM was reluctant to join the RF, but she graciously stepped up to the plate to do her duty. She was controlling, manipulative, and very reluctant to give up the spotlight to anyone. If Keen wants to emulate the QM, then that doesn’t bode well for anyone.

    • CapeTownGIrl says:

I think it’s quite funny that she’s being compared to the queen mother; by all accounts, she was mean, spoiled, a snob and well known for her predilection for racism and antisemitism.

      • Lyra says:

” she adored a game where Eton boys were chased by a pack of hounds for her pleasure. ”

This is beyond sick. I read a lot of similar accounts in which very wealthy people and royalty do such games: like children being chased, even killed by dogs and even more bizarre things told by victims of trafficking or that were “lucky” enough to take part in the most private events of royalty. I really believe that this family is sociopathic and those accounts are real, Andrew being pedophile is just the tip. The Belgian royal family also has a weird background in the affair of Dutroux in the 70′s in which the same style of dog chasing children event was bought.

Kate is no good. I don’t think that she is a victim, and I believe that Meghan and Harry didn’t tell everything in their interview because they couldn’t.

  69. Tessa says:

That photo was obviously posed. The Kate stans are about putting up all the super flattery.

  70. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

That is one hollow pebble the monarchy has there.

I have legitimate doubts that Kate knows why she is there, what day of the week it is, what month it is…there’s something in the eyes that just says vacant.

Also can Carole not mention herself and give away the source in the article. I feel nauseous after reading that.

  71. Ashton says:

The headlines about her are soooooo over the top it’s hilarious and very obvious. They’re trying to make her out to be a perfect saint. So beloved and perfect compared to that horrible Meghan. But she better watch out, Charles and Charles Jr. do not like to be outshined. I actually can’t wait until all of the spotlight are on them. No more blaming everything on Harry and Meghan. Sooner or later their time will come and don’t think the tabloids won’t turn on them if they need new headlines.

  72. Genie says:

Omg TOLLY! You nailed it with Katey Keen being at a dynasty funeral. That pearl necklace that Phil would have wanted her to wear too LMAO

  73. pasdesmots says:

    Totally off topic, dunno why…
But I feel jealous seeing her perfectly tailored coat, the length of her sleeves….for me, it is and always has been since I grew up, a massive pain in the a*** to find a coat with sleeves that actually fits, because of my extremly long arms…thanks dad….lol
    Yeah, off topic :D :D :D

  74. Chartreuse says:

Still don’t we need to acknowledge the term ‘regency’? That’s not consort, they are totally different and the article said regency. Why is that not being acknowledged? Why would Kate be regency when two fully formed adults are Kings in waiting

  75. I agree with the poster who said that she looks like a Disney villainess. So apt.

  76. Becks1 says:

    How have they treated her?
