Kelly Osbourne doesn’t talk to her sister, Aimee: ‘we’re just really different’

Kelly Osbourne took a break from white-privledgesplaining cancel culture to speak to Dax Shepard on his podcast, Armchair Expert. During their discussion, Kelly spoke about her relationship with older sister Aimée. Or rather, lack of relationship. Ever since Aimée opted out of the family reality show, there’s been speculation about her connection with various members of the family. Aimée herself maintains she gets along fine with her parents, Ozzy and Sharon, but her relationship with younger siblings Jack and Kelly has been off and on. Last year, when Aimée was getting ready to release her first album, she admitted that she and her younger siblings hadn’t spoken for a while but at that time, she’d said they were fine. However, on Monday’s podcast, Kelly said that’s not so. She said she and Aimée are not on speaking terms, mainly because they don’t understand each other.

Kelly Osbourne is opening up about her relationship with her sister.

During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast Monday, Kelly revealed that she and her older sister Aimee aren’t on speaking terms.

“We don’t talk,” Kelly, 36, said. “We’re just really different. She doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand her.”

Aimee, 37, has opened up in the past about her relationship with her siblings Kelly and Jack, 35.

“I wouldn’t say there is an ease between us, but there is an acceptance. Do we socialise? No.” she told The Independent back in 2015.

[From People]

Am I jerk if I say that Kelly’s condemnation her of automatically raises Aimée in my estimation? It doesn’t surprise me that Kelly explains their chasm as a lack of understanding. I truly don’t think Kelly is capable of looking past the end of her own nose, a trait she seems to have inherited from her mother. It is possible that each sister is equally at fault for this rift because I really don’t know much about Aimée. Jack seems to have been left out of the conversation. Whereas he was once very much as volatile as Kelly, he seems to have calmed down, focused on his health and family, co-parenting his daughters amicably with his ex, Lisa Stelly.

Something nice: Kelly doesn’t go out of her way to smear Aimée as the villain. I assume she was asked about their relationship on the podcast, that’s why it came up. Plenty of family don’t see eye-to-eye and distance is usually best for all involved. So for all the times Kelly runs her mouth when she shouldn’t, I appreciate her respecting her sister enough to leave it at this.

    Aimee, the only decent Osbourne

    • Noki says:

Whether she is decent or not who knows, but atleast she has the smarts not to spew nonsensical views like her mother and sister.

      • tealily says:

Exactly. Is she likable? Who knows. But she seems smarter than the rest of the family.

I do agree about Jack though. It seems like he’s calmed down and settled into the life of a Discovery Channel paranormal investigator. I’ve actually grown to like him too.

      • insertpunhere says:

@tealily, I haven’t followed the family since they stopped their reality show, but the fact that he is a Discovery Channel paranormal investigator makes me so happy. It sounds like a job that people say they have when they buy houses on television (I run a circus staffed entirely by hamsters, and my husband is a Discovery Channel paranormal investigator). It’s not a job that I’d expect anyone to have in real life, but I’m jealous now.

    • Maida says:

I know hardly anything about Aimee, but if my family were on a reality show I would 100 percent opt out, so she has my sympathy for that. Perhaps she’s just more private / more of an introvert.

  2. Case says:

“ Am I jerk if I say that Kelly’s condemnation her of automatically raises Aimée in my estimation?”

I thought the same thing! ‘Hmm, if she’s nothing like Kelly, I bet I’d like her.’

  3. goofpuff says:

Her opting out of the reality show already raised my opinion of her.

    • smcollins says:

Exactly my thought, too. I remember hearing about her when the show first aired and thought “good for her for not wanting to be involved, smart girl.” For all we know she could be just as terrible but more private about it, but I get the distinct feeling that’s not really the case (at least I hope so).

  4. Sandra says:

I had no idea the Osborn siblings were so close in age. I think it’s been wise of Aimee to keep herself separate from all the stupid family drama through the years.

  5. Lauren says:

“Am I a jerk if I say that Kelly’s condemnation of her automatically raises Aimée in my estimation?” Nope! I don’t know who Aimée is, but if Kelly disapproves of her we know that Aimée might be a decent person.

  6. Lucy says:

It does speak really well of Aimee, actually.

  7. Jayna says:

Aimee may also be very entitled, living off of mommy and daddy’s money, just not abrasive and mouthy like sis, or who knows? She may be a real sweetheart.

Jack is the one Osbourne child I’ve come to really like and root for. He’s out there hustling to support his family and has handled his MS diagnosis with a lot of grace and honesty.

    • February-Pisces says:

I read jack has celebrated 18 years sobriety. That’s pretty incredible.

  8. Ally says:

I just can’t believe that Sharon let Aimee move out at 16 rather than not film the damn reality show. That’s how bad the girl didn’t want to be on tv. She moved out. And Sharon let her go rather than just not film the show. That really tells me all I need to know about the family.

    • Noki says:

She really didnt go far though..she moved to the pool house. I was a huge fan of the Osbournes and Newlyweds.

    • NiqGee says:

They were teenagers in high school at the time, I believe, so she couldn’t really go anywhere. She was just in the pool house to avoid being on camera. A few times she was there for family dinners and her face got blurred but mostly the cameras didn’t have her in the shot. I used to watch the show religiously and didn’t even know they had a third kid.

    • K-Peace says:

I remember reading that same thing, but Aimee was actually 18 or 19 when “The Osbornes” show began in 2002. She was born in 1983.

  9. Sassafras says:

This does not look like Kelly Osborne. What happened to her? She has been tweaked beyond recognition.

    • equality says:

Every time I see her “new” face it makes me think of the old movie “Death Becomes Her’.

    • Desert Lizard says:

She’s gone nuts with filters in addition to the work she’s had one. I think she wants to be a Kardashian. I’m pretty sure the Kardashians wouldn’t want her.

    • cassandra says:

I’m in the minority here, but I think her new work looks pretty good?

Some people use plastic surgery to maintain their face and some people want to change their face entirely and Kelly obviously went for the latter. That being said, I think she’s at an excellent ‘stopping point’ and shouldn’t fxxk with her face any further….but that seems pretty unlikely unfortunately.

    • Gobo says:

There’s filters… but I also think she has had significant reductive surgery on her jaw bone.

  10. Jezebeelzebub says:

I mean, it’s decent that Kelly didnt smear her sister. But “decent” behavior is kind of the least that any human owes another. But seeing as how this is Kelly, I guess I’ll say that even a broken clock is right twice a day.

  11. ThatgirlThere says:

Imagine having a racist, obnoxious self absorbed douche of a sister like Kelly?

  12. lisa says:

I remember Sharon calling Aimee her normal child like they didnt understand her. I guess she’s their Marilyn Munster.

  13. H says:

I said yesterday on the Kelly Osbourne post that Aimee was the only Osbourne that seems not to be a racist drama queen. If I were her, I’d stay away from Kelly too.

  14. SurvivalIsTheGame says:

Isn’t that always the case, the only family member you actually want to hear from refuses to speak to the public. If Aimee doesn’t speak to Kelly that’s a good enough personality endorsement for me! It would be so horrible to have the world’s oldest teenage living bratz doll as a blood relative. I remember when I was back in my late teens/early twenties Kelly moved into my neighborhood and let me tell you the entire place hated her. So I guess not much has changed but the plastic surgery about her. Bless her heart.

    • Meg says:

‘Isn’t that always the case, the only family member you actually want to hear from refuses to speak’
Reminds me of classmates in college

  15. Quincytoo says:

    Aimee for the win
No one ever mentions Ozzie first family
He was married and had 3 children when he and racist S got together
Ozzie left his family for her
First children have said he wasn’t a big part of their lives after that
Sad but it looks like they dodged a bullet

  16. Millie says:

But isn’t it Aimee’s job to help Kelly understand? Educate her, Aimee.

    • Anna says:

She’s 36. She should have been able to educate herself by now. It’s not Aimée’s job to educate her grown ass sister

      • Millie says:

Which is exactly the point I was making ironically.

Kelly thinks it’s up to POC to educate racists rather than “cancel” them. And yet when it comes to her own sister she choses not to speak to her rather than work at understanding her.

  17. Mindless says:

I always forget about Ozzys older children. I think his eldest son was adopted and the interesting part of that is he looks to be mixed race which is only interesting because of Sharon and her recent racism problems. I wonder if she even has a relationship with the older kids.

  18. February-Pisces says:

I don’t know anything about Aimee at all, but from what I can gather of her she seems to be the smart, level headed one. I think most 17 year olds would have easily jumped at the chance to be apart of a tv show, even if it’s just for the money. The fact she turned it down and completely stayed off of the gravy train the Osbournes were riding at the time, tells me she must have been very wise for someone so young. It’s very weird that she and kelly are only a year apart and don’t talk. Two sisters that close in age would have been brought up together almost like twins. But like they have both said, they are just very different people.

Also I was just thinking how awful Sharon is. I remember on the X factor years ago she was so awful to Dannii Minogue. She was literally going on talk shows bad mouthing her. I think it was because dannii and Simon Cowell were banging, and Sharon was just acting like a jealous old witch. It was so unnecessary.

  19. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Aimee has always been, imo, the mature Osbourne. The very fact that she opted out of the reality series, and that 36yo whiny baby sister says they don’t see eye to eye proves it. Anybody seeing eye to eye with Kelly isn’t standing up.

  20. Melanie P says:

Aimee live your best life,, ignore the toxicity..

  21. The Recluse says:

Jack is the most interesting one of the bunch. And he seems to be pretty nice too.
