Zoe Kravitz told Channing Tatum to stop wearing Crocs and so he did

ZoeChanning
Although there were rumors earlier this year Zoe Kravitz was hooking up with Channing Tatum, it would seem that their bonding was more innocent than that. Zoe and Channing have been working together on Pussy Island. Pussy Island is Zoe’s directing debut, she co-wrote the script with her High Fidelity co-writer, E.T. Feigenbaum, and Channing will star.

Zoe and Channing were profiled by Deadline and a lot of fun facts came to light. When Zoe began writing the script for Pussy Island in 2017, she felt Channing should play the main character, Slater King, a tech billionaire. Channing said that he was up for the challenge but was afraid to step out of the comfort zone of his normal characters (hot stripper and military man?). Channing stated that when he and Zoe met for the first time to talk about the project, he walked away fully understanding the vision she had. He also promised to never wear Crocs again. Below are a few more highlights from Deadline:

[Channing] also came away from their first meeting with the confidence she had in her vision, and, well, other things.

“When someone can just come out and tell me I should not be wearing Crocs, and is so adamant about it, she completely convinced me and I never wear Crocs anymore,” Tatum said.

“I was just trying to be a good friend, Chan,” she said.

“I get it, but I totally loved Crocs for a hot second, and in one hang she was like, you can’t ever do that again. And I said, ‘OK, fine.’ “

Said Kravitz: “Just to be clear, there are people out there who can pull off the Crocs thing; I just wasn’t sure you were one of them.”

Tatum allowed that since he stopped rocking the Crocs, “I feel cooler, and her point of view on me and Crocs was legit. She had a good argument. The one thing I can pull off, is listening.”

I love how Zoe was like, “Bruh, I was just trying to be a good friend by letting you know that Crocs ain’t it.” And Channing took it like a champ. Also, Crocs are not sexy at all. So thanks Zoe. I really like Zoe’s spunk. Zoe is definitely her parents’ child.

I am looking forward to this movie because I actually liked High Fidelity. I also like that Zoe is not satisfied with just an acting career and is already on the other side of the camera. I am not sure how I feel about Channing playing a tech billionaire, I don’t feel he has the range. Then again this is probably because I have only seen him play action heroes and strippers. Maybe it would be a good thing to see him stretch his ability in this role. I also like that Zoe is not leading with her ego. The fact that she tried to write the role for herself but found that someone else would be better suited is remarkable. I hope that the writing and acting are solid. I need this generation’s Fatal Attraction.

Pussy Island will begin filming in January 2022 on an undisclosed tropical island. I look forward to the set photos.

The ads that popped up with this article are for tropical island crocs. I am laughing so hard!

Eh but why him? What does he bring to the table? Is she trying to make him be the movie representation of Elon Musk? Can we have a look at other tech billionaires that are not the US ones? I’ve already seen so many movies about US tech billionaires – I want to check out the rest of the world.

  3. faithmobile says:

I think of tech millionaires and billionaires as douche bros, so it doesn’t seem a stretch for Channing Tatum who leans into the toxic masculinity roles. I’m not saying this is who Channing is, just roles he embodies.

    Thank you Zoe!

While people are free to wear anything they want, I admit to judging any adult who wears crocs in public, like just as street wear.

Tromping around your garden, hanging at home or at the beach, maybe working in a restaurant kitchen or some other job where you’re on your feet all day if you personally find them comfortable for whatever reason. Or if you’re going for a particular, purposeful aesthetic, sure, fine.

But out and about? nope! Too me it’s like when people were wearing those shower shoes (like the addias ones) a few years back, particularly grown men. It just seems like a lazy sloppy choice from someone who can’t be arsed to put on actual non-plastic hose-downable footwear.

And yeah, I find it a really un-sexy look.

This is hilarious… I have to agree with Zoe.

if you have to change someone right away? I dunno. Maybe he needed some ego abrasion, but if a man told me not to wear berks….?

I said at one point I just could not see them together….but I also said her soon to be ex-husband seemed a totally match for her, and that marriage lasted about a minute and a half. So what do I know!? 😂

I’m thinking about getting a pair to go with my clown pants. So help me god.

I like Channing Tatum as an actor. Yes his range is limited but frankly I find that with most U.S. actors — most American actors are not trained the way Brits and Australian actors are, they are less technically good, and the ones that break through usually do it on the backs of a combo of charisma, looks, and being able to play one kind of role well. And that’s what Tatum is. But I hate tech billionaires, so I really hope this is a satire that is harsh and critical on the Tatum character. I don’t want to sympathize with a tech billionaire even in fiction. I have a lot of problems with Tony Stark, for example!!! #notechbillionaires #theyshouldnotexist

Hahaha I am so embarrassed to admit I just bought some Crocs – but they are those sandals ones that just look like normal shoes. My husband was like, “You did WHAT?!” We all need someone in our lives to tell us Crocs (regular ones at least) are not it.

    I want the Diplo crocs

My favorite thing about Zoe is how she got the HELL outta of a marriage that didn’t work with a QUICKNESS! I 💘 THAT ABOUT HER…or anyone! I DESPISE Crocs…however as I’ve gotten older with my back issues I find I have to wear them cause they DO make a difference…but NEVA at work or when I’m being cute!

  12. Thirtynine says:

I think Channing has more range than we usually see. He was fabulous in the Eagle, which yeah, he played a centurion, but was injured almost immediately, and the rest of the movie was unpacking the imperial invader/invaded relationship between him and Jamie Bell. He was really believable and brought a sensitivity to the role. Became one of my favourite movies, to watch them go from enemies to friends.

  13. jferber says:

If Zoe Kravitz tells him to do something, he damn well had better do it. She is royalty, for God’s sake. And she is Fashion.

  14. Jezebeelzebub says:

I wish she’d come to my house and make my own child – my only child- to knock it off with the Crocs already. I’m powerless to stop her, to my great shame.
