Donald Trump was very concerned that Ghislaine Maxwell would name names

I remember when journalist Michael Wolff was on the Rupert Murdoch beat for Vanity Fair. He got some good scoops and he’s very plugged into that kind of world – conservative media, big business, fraud, Trumpism. He’s currently a contributor for a number of media outlets, and he’s written a few books about Donald Trump, including 2018’s Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House and 2019’s Siege: Trump Under Fire. His latest book is Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency. He’s already released some excerpts for publication, which is how we’re getting this gossip about how Donald Trump was pretty close to pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell and he was very concerned that Maxwell would name names.

Author Michael Wolff’s latest book Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency alleges that former President Donald Trump, fearing that Ghislaine Maxwell would link him to Jeffrey Epstein’s “sex-abuse scandal,” mulled pardoning the financier’s companion in the final weeks of his presidency. In excerpts from the book published Monday, Wolff, 67, alleges that Trump, 75, took “sudden interest” in Maxwell when discussing who to pardon near the end of his tenure. Maxwell, 59, the former companion of Epstein, is currently awaiting trial on multiple charges for her involvement with Epstein’s sex trafficking of minors.

An excerpt from Wolff’s book reads: “One ‘oh, s—‘ moment involved [Trump’s] sudden interest in Ghislaine Maxwell, the former girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein now facing years in prison over allegations of her role in the Epstein sex-abuse scandal. Trump had tried hard to downplay his own long relationship with Epstein.”

“‘Has she said anything about me?’ [Trump] openly wondered. ‘Is she going to talk? Will she roll on anybody?'” the excerpt continues.

Wolff further alleges that Trump ultimately didn’t issue a pardon to Maxwell, and was dissuaded from doing so when informed that the federal move could trigger individual states to pursue her prosecution.

While Maxwell was ultimately not pardoned, Trump did pardon a number of other close friends and associates, including retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former adviser Roger Stone, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner’s dad.

[From People]

Does anyone else remember the fact that the then-sitting Attorney General of the United States, William Barr, traveled to New York shortly after Maxwell’s arrest? Maxwell was moved from New Hampshire to a detention center in Brooklyn, and Barr was one of the first people to visit her. Around that same time, Trump made a point of wishing Maxwell well. Trump, Maxwell and Epstein were clearly social friends in New York and Palm Beach for decades, and of course Trump was tied to Epstein in a few different ways. Basically… yeah, I believe that Trump was probably nervous about what Maxwell could or would reveal. But I keep thinking back to the visit Barr made. What did he promise her? What happened there?

    Lock him up!

Along with all of his perjury pitiful children as well!! Can’t wait to see him fall from his gilded toilet to a steel one in prison!!!
Last night it was reported that he has filed lawsuits against Facebook, Twitter and some other tech giant. All claiming that he was barred from freedom of speech. All of the legal scholars came out and stated that this is lawsuit is already dead in the water, as none of them are government entities. I am certain he is looking to milk his base for more $$$$ as his loans are coming due. Add to the fact that no one will loan him money given the current federal investigations into his business/charity/tax dealings.

Also, how much work has a melania had? She doesn’t even look close to this version of herself anymore!!

If Barr has promised Maxwell a deal, can it be rescinded? I know very little about US law, I’m afraid. If he HAS made such a promise, can he be indicted if she is found guilty on all counts? What would be the best possible outcome? Consecutive life sentences, or her revealing the perpetrators of these horrific sex crimes she helped enable?

    • lucy2 says:

Thankfully Barr is no longer in that position and has no control over deals or any such thing.

My guess is his visit was either a warning (talk and you’re dead like Epstein) or a promise of a deal/pardon that they promised to keep her quiet and then never followed through on or lost out on when Biden won.

Bill Barr tried to replace Geoffrey Berman, the US Attorney for SDNY, with one of his own loyalists, presumably to quash a big case in the Southern District, likely Maxwell’s. Berman stepped down and deputy U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss assumed the acting position — she’s one tough lady and is certainly no Barr loyalist. Barr actually has connections to Epstein — his sleazy father hired him at Dalton, and Barr was in charge when Epstein “committed suicide.” My guess is Ghislaine has dirt on the Barr family. As for his alleged visit to her in jail, it hasn’t been proven that he actually met with her. Rumour has it he attempted to visit her in her jail cell, but was refused entry by her attorney. It would actually be unusual for the Attorney General to visit personally instead of just the case’s prosecutor so IMHO Barr was clearly trying to do some kind of deal with her to cover up her and Epstein’s relationship with Trump.

    • LaraW” says:

Any plea deal has to be presented before the judge, who decides whether to follow the prosecution’s recommendation (barring some exceptions, most of which involve the defendant pleading guilty). Maxwell’s trial is still going forward and if I recall correctly, she pled not guilty on all counts.

Keeping in mind that my wheelhouse is 100% civil litigation, for Barr, my guess would be if he were to be charged for anything, it would be something along the lines of conspiracy to conceal/obstruction of justice. But those have their own standards of proof that must be met and without further details, I doubt he’d be charged with anything.

Anyone with more criminal experience, please correct me if I’m totally off the mark.

    • pottymouth pup says:

didn’t Barr also travel to visit Epstein in jail? the visit may not have been for an offer but a threat

  3. Darla says:

A full pardon during his second term, after the election I would imagine. Or, behind door number two a bullet in the head? I’m sure there was a carrot and there was a stick.

    • Lizzie Bathory says:

Yes. Plus if he won a second term, I’m sure he & Barr were confident they’d be able to lean on the states to make sure she never faced charges there. Sweep the whole thing under the rug. Let’s not forget that Barr has his own unique connection to Epstein via his father. So many secrets….

  4. Kat says:

I bet many A-list figures in Hollywood and in politics are sh*tting themselves over possible leaks. This isn’t a partisan issue, there are pervs and creeps all over this mess, like flies on hot trash.

    • TeamMeg says:

For sure the Donald is not alone in being “very concerned”. I remember the minute Epstein was arrested, the FBI went in and removed all evidence from his island enclave. I would not be surprised if most or all of that evidence was destroyed. We know a lot of major players are involved. The question is, are they powerful enough to ensure the (full) truth never comes out?

    • Mac says:

Epstein laundered money for powerful and corrupt heads of state. Maxwell is never going to talk because she doesn’t want to be suicide-ed.

  5. Merricat says:

I want to know all the names. I want all of those people dragged into the light. Let the chips fall. Trump was friendly with Epstein for years.

  6. Becks1 says:

Spill all the beans Ghislaine. Take them all down with you.

    • Lizzie Bathory says:

This is what I’m very curious about. If you’re Ghislaine (shudder), what is they play now? She knows so much. She basically inherited an international spy operation from her father. Then she partnered with Epstein, who was schooled by Trump in the business of sex trafficking & money laundering. They made connections with powerful people in basically every industry. They could take down governments, which is why the operation was *almost* too big to fail.

But what it couldn’t withstand was scrutiny. I’m guessing that she will be allowed to live, will not take a plea (because she’d have to come clean about everything) & that some of the people involved will have to be taken down to make a good show of things. Since we don’t know which ones, there are lots of people shaking in their boots right now.

    • BothSidesNow says:

Yes Ghislane, sing like a canary!!! We want names, dates and all of it!! Everyone of Epstein’s pedophiles need to be named and arrested!!

      • lucy2 says:

I want her to sing like a canary, and then still face the maximum punishment for what she did.
The Alison Mack sentencing recently is way to low, because she cut a deal.

  7. If the truth ever sees the light of day, we will find Trump joined at the hip with Maxwell and Epstein, in my opinion. Epstein is dead for a reason….there were just too many super rich, powerful white boys sweating his rolling on them. Maxwell, I’m sure got the message of Epstein’s death, while in maximum security. Trump didn’t need to pardon her as she knows she’ll end up dead if she opens her mouth. It’s all so sick and corrupt.

  8. Seraphina says:

I don’t understand, I can be a bit thick sometimes, but I could have sworn Donnie stated he didn’t know Epstein only met him at social gatherings a couple of times – and now he was scared his partner in crime would name names??? Hmmmmmm……………………………..

  9. Birdmad Girl says:

Don’t forget: William Barr’s father Donald Barr employed Epstein as a math teacher at his private school, Dalton, even though Epstein was quite unqualified for the job.

    • Seraphina says:

The documentary on Epstein pointed that fact out as well and the whole thing left me feeling sick to my stomach.

  10. olliesmom says:

I’m quite frankly surprised that Ghislaine Maxwell is still alIve.

    LOCK HIM UP!

    • olliesmom says:

Oh, and keep her locked up too because she was the one that did the recruiting of the girls for Epstein.

  11. Valerie says:

    Sounds super innocent! /s

  12. The Recluse says:

Check out Melania’s eyes in that top photo. Her pupils are HUGE. Noel Casler has said she was high AF.

  13. pamspam says:

I hate to be negative and pessimistic, but honestly – why would he be concerned? There are just never any repercussions for any of the sh*t he does, and his cult members don’t care. No matter how terrible he is, he never pays the price. Ever. It’s disgusting.
