DM: Prince Harry is ‘not expected’ to attend his grandfather’s memorial service

The British media’s coverage of Prince Harry’s Judicial Review court hearing last week has been especially tortured. It’s really infuriating to see how the press is tying itself in knots to make Harry look… evil for caring about his safety, and the safety of his wife and children? They’re mocking him for being concerned, even as they add to the menace around him. It’s a really dangerous game they’re playing. Anyway, as part of the Daily Mail’s ongoing coverage of Harry’s security situation, they obviously have “royal sources” chiming in, and those royal sources are now saying that they don’t believe Harry will come to the UK in March for his grandfather’s memorial service.

Prince Harry is not expected to attend the memorial service for the Duke of Edinburgh next month as he continues his legal battle over security. On Friday, a court heard that Harry did not ‘feel safe’ in Britain without the protection of Scotland Yard officers, who he believes offer superior protection to privately hired bodyguards.

Members of the Royal Family now believe that his latest comments rule out a return for the March 29 service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey. Harry returned without his wife Meghan and children Lilibet, aged eight months, and Archie, two, in April to attend his grandfather’s funeral, which was restricted to close family and friends at Windsor due to Covid restrictions. But a source close to the Royal Family said: ‘They don’t think it’s likely he’ll come back because it would undermine his position that it’s too much of a threat.’

It is believed to be even more unlikely that Meghan and their children would return.

Harry’s grandmother still hasn’t met the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes’ daughter, who was born last June in California and named Lilibet after the Queen’s childhood nickname.

A no-show from Harry at such an important event, particularly one which will honour his beloved grandfather, will no doubt add further tension to the strained relationship with his family.

When the Queen recently announced that it was her ‘sincere wish’ that Camilla would become Queen when her husband Charles is King, Harry made no publicly supportive comment to his step-mother in response to the news.

As I said, infuriating: “They don’t think it’s likely he’ll come back because it would undermine his position that it’s too much of a threat.” As opposed to: Harry is not planning to come back because he knows the security situation would be an absolute sh-tshow without full Royal Protection, especially with the British media ginning up anger against Harry with their targeted harassment. Again, Harry has not confirmed whether he’s coming to the memorial service or any of the fakakta Jubbly sh-t. These are “royal sources” trying to read Sussex tea leaves.

Good. I hope he never steps foot in that country.

  2. matthew says:

    what a shithole country

    • JanetDR says:

@Matthew Let’s not pile on the whole country! I’d hate to be lumped in with Faux “news”, republican’ts and tRumpers myself.
Attending the family service was important, this isn’t.

  3. Mai B says:

Love Meghan’s dress, kate on the other hand, oh poor sausage. I am sure when Kate saw Meghan she felt like a poor sausage kikikiki

  4. Harper says:

Sorry, but I don’t think a death anniversary memorial rates as a must-do. Lots of folks died in the past few years and people weren’t able to gather at the funerals, much less the one-year mark. But this event will give Kate another chance to delve into her funeral look book and borrow some more royal jewels to make it all about her. Or, on second thought, will she even bother if Harry isn’t there?

    • Couch potato says:

Of course she’ll bother. It would make for weeks of “Keen the piece maker” stories again. And she’d have a handsom man to look at.

    • Amy Bee says:

@Harper: This event is really for the press who were restricted in how they covered the funeral. I also think it was a tactic to try to get Harry and Meghan to go to the UK. I agree that a memorial doesn’t have the same importance as the funeral so it wouldn’t surprise if they don’t come.

  5. Cessily says:

Is this all the firm will allow them to write about? It sure seems like if doesn’t include the Sussex’s names it’s not allowed to be published. It’s exhausting.. no wonder all those RR look so old and haggard.

    • L4Frimaire says:

This right here. The Sussexes are the only royals the press are allowed to criticize and attack without restraint. If they write anything critical about the other royals, the story disappears. This memorial seems like it was created to generate sympathy or more publicity. All this noise about Harry’s security is pure spite and the press wanting access to him when he’s there. This is just to teach him a lesson and make him look like the bad guy at the same time. They can’t even respect the judicial process and are so angry. Every time there are problems with the royals, and right now there are a lot, they start going in on the Sussexes and trying to link them to things that have nothing to do with them. It’s just getting old.

  6. Lucy Lee says:

The funeral was the most critical service to attend to show love and respect. This event in March is just another distraction to keep the subjects from paying attention to their real problems. Honoring a dead man does not rank up there in importance with food on the table, COVID relief, higher taxes, Russia and Ukraine, lousy weather, Andrew, cash for honors, racism, gender phobias——————————.
The manipulation of the subjects by the British Media and the Royal Family is painful to watch.

    • Chergui says:

In reality ALL of those other things are what’s making headlines. The royals aren’t. They’re just background gossip. The general population in the UK is more focused on the ending of all the Covid rescrictions this week, the situation in Ukraine, the insane cost of living and the fact that several storms have caused so much disruption.

      • Lucy Lee says:

Glad to know some of the people focus on real issues.

      • StellainNH says:

They claim that Meghan, Archie, and Lillibet didn’t travel in April for the funeral, then say Lillibet was born in June. Do they have editors that edit their text?

  7. Merricat says:

They do not deserve him, and never have.
Their loss is gain for the rest of the world.

  8. The Duchess says:

Good. Let them all spread covid amongst themselves. They deserve it.

  9. Jan says:

    Harry is a working man.
He is going to be in The Hague in April for the Invictus Games.
What more can the BRF do to Harry? He is not going to bend to them, all their nastiness did not work, it just opened more people eyes to their performative behavior, as shitty humans.

  10. Over it says:

Everyday these people keep offering me more reasons to despise them. Philip already lived a full long life, why should Harry put his and his young family ones in danger for a service that isn’t even necessary

    • Jasper says:

It seems as if they are really trying to rile up the masses to get someone to act against Harry should he visit the UK. Then they could milk that story for years, same as they do with Diana.
I really hope he avoids that country as far as humanly possible. Visit every other European country BUT the UK.

      • Robert Phillips says:

Their problem is they didn’t learn from Diana’s death. Because she died she will always be young and beautiful in everyones’ eyes. She will also always be the slited party because of Camilla. I don’t even want to say it, but think of what would happen if Harry and Meaghan were in an accident and died. Do you know how crappy that would make the rest of the family look. Especially now with him coming out and saying he doesn’t feel safe there. And the RF saying they don’t care. They really aren’t very smart when it comes to public relations.

  11. aquarius64 says:

The Sussexes can release a dedication video to Philip on the same day, but airs it after the service. Mainstream US media will pick it up, along with the silly security drama.

  12. Fabricated stories after fabricated stories day in and day out. The British media have no authentic royal sources. Harry and Meghan said from the start that they’ will not engage with the rota rats.

  13. Mooney says:

I still can’t get over how gorgeous Meghan looked in that black dress 😍 she was trying to hide but effortlessly outshone them all 😂 keen looked so boring next to her even with that big brooch 😁

    • BothSidesNow says:

Meghan has an aura about her that is absolutely stunning!! Meghan has such confidence and carries herself with such poise and elegance.

Unlike other BRF, they are such a disgrace.

  14. Amy Bee says:

Harry’s concern is not about royal events. He knows he will get police protection to attend the Thanksgiving Service. He wants to be able to have private visits to the UK, which at this point, the Home Office says he can’t get police protection for. I think the more interesting part is Harry still hasn’t confirmed whether he will attend the memorial. If he had it would have been leaked to the press already.

    • Princessk says:

I only believe what comes directly from Harry or whoever he gives instructions to make a statement.
