Jamie Foxx and his daughter are going to host a musical celebrity game show

In my last post about Jamie Foxx, we learned from his daughter Corinne that he is now home from the hospital after a serious health scare. This came after rampant speculation that he was still in the hospital and in a very bad way. She also said that an exciting work announcement was in the pipeline, and I wondered what that announcement could be. Turns out I didn’t have to wait long to find out! Jamie and Corinne are making another musical game show together for Fox:

Jamie Foxx is returning to TV alongside his daughter Corinne Foxx.

FOX announced Monday that the father-daughter duo will host a new musical game show called We Are Family. The series is expected to debut in 2024.

We Are Family is a music guessing game that will feature one celebrity every episode alongside a non-famous relative. But there’s a twist: the featured star will be hidden until their identity can be guessed.
Similar to The Masked Singer, clues will be given to help identify each celebrity.

For correctly guessing the star, there’s up to $100,000 on the line for the studio audience, whose job is to sniff out the celeb based on the clues.

“We are thrilled to be developing We Are Family with Jeff Apploff and our friends at FOX Entertainment after so much success with six seasons of Beat Shazam,” Jamie, 55, and Corinne, 29, said in a joint statement. “We hope this show brings as much fun to audiences at home as we’ve had creating it when it premieres next year.”

I’m trying to make sense of the concept of this new show because the announcement was a little vague. CNN reports that the celebrity duets with their non-famous family member, who remains in hiding. Family harmonies are often quite close but maybe the blend of the two voices together is enough to throw people off. It seems a little gimmicky but then again, that’s kind of what game shows are all about.

Something else that’s unclear: Are Jamie and Corinne going to continue making Beat Shazam too or is We Are Family taking its place after this summer? Nick Cannon and Kelly Osborne are temporarily filling in for the Foxxes right now, but will that be how Beat Shazam ends? The logical thing would be to pick just one game show. Anyway I hope that Jamie continues to make a rapid recovery and gets all the support and care he needs. We’re all curious about what happened, but even celebrities have the right to keep their health information private if they want to. Chadwick Boseman kept his cancer diagnosis secret for years, and that was his choice

I hope he really is okay and that this sickness is behind him. His daughter is gorgeous and it is heartwarming to see them being so close.

Agreed. I really enjoy watching both of them individually, but especially as a duo on Beat Shazam. I hope they both return to Beat Shazam because it’s one of my favorite guilty pleasures, but I will silently boycott the hell out of it while Nick Cannon and Kelly Osborne are filling in.
