“Amy Schumer clapped back at people criticizing her ‘puffy face'” links

Some people were criticizing Amy Schumer’s “puffy” face this week & she clapped back. Amy has had a lot of health issues in recent years, so I do not understand why that conversation even started. She wrote, on her IG, about having endometriosis. [Buzzfeed]

She’s not an Islamaphobe. She’s vocal about the current virulent antisemitism.

    • Amy Bee says:

      By spreading virulent islamophobia.

    • Kitten says:

Nope. She intentionally mischaracterized an entire movement, one that is rooted in both peace and the fight against oppression, as Hamas terrorists. It was a gross-ass cartoon and she deserved the backlash. This woman has a history of making stupid, racist “jokes” and ignorant comments and I will never understand why people insist on seeing her as something she is not. She’s constantly showing you–believe her.

    • Ameerah M says:

She literally referred to Palestinian children as r@pists and murderers. Miss me with your defense of that. And then let’s get into her comments about Black men and her jokes about Black women. She’s hot garbage. You should know who and what you’re defending Mary.

  2. TigerMcQueen says:

Wait, someone who is mean about other people and uses the “it was a joke!” crutch and doubles down in her half-a**ed apologies can’t take it when other people are mean about her?

    I’m shocked. /snark

    • TigerMcQueen says:

Replying to my own comment to say comments about other people’s looks are gross. I think what people said about Amy Schumer is gross. I also think she’s an incredibly mean, horrible person and giant hypocrite about many things, including body image.

  3. Kitten says:

100% this. Plenty to criticize her for without talking about her looks.

  4. L says:

    I absolutely agree with you.

  5. Flamingo says:

I will never understand the group up comics that came up with Chelsea Handler, Jo Koy, Whitney Cummings, Amy Schumer they are so unfunny. Their stand up is a snore and really made me think comedy is dead.

Her face is the least problematic thing about her.

    • Lucy says:

I can’t remember what I was watching, but CH and WC clips kept coming up. They weren’t funny, even a little bit, just mean. And I saw this first few minutes of a JK set, and he was mocking different Asian groups, which I get he’s at least partially asian decent (I assume, I don’t know) , but it felt mean too.

  6. Chaine says:

The Mostly Harmless doc was disappointing. I wanted to learn more about the guy and his life story and what drove him to this ending, and the doc just gave that very cursory coverage and no investigation and instead spent a lot of time rehashing people’s arguments in their Facebook group, which are absolutely the least interesting aspect of the wider story.

Anyone wanna chat about the new Fantastic Four? I grew up reading my dad’s old comics from the 60s. I loved FF, but I actually despised Mr. Fantastic who is a chauvinist jackass in the original comics. My partner insists that he hasn’t been that in decades, and I can’t keep judging him by his 1960s persona, but I still cringed so hard at the truly fabulous Pedro Pascal being cast in that role. I’m sure he’ll bring new life to the character, but the last cast was great too. IDK if a reboot was necessary. Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis were great, even with a silly script.

    • Lens says:

All the fantastic four movies are disappointing but they keep trying.

    • Mia4s says:

I’m just so indifferent. The cast is….fine. I’m not comforted by the fact that it sounds like Pedro Pascal was their fourth or fifth choice. He is great, but this casting feels off. Even dare I say a bit desperate? And that guy playing the Human Torch…uhhh…am I going to get yelled at if I say he’s not very attractive? Sorry, personal taste and all. I just don’t see it.

      Anyway, it will be….fine. 🤷‍♀️

    • tealily says:

I like to whole cast so I’m actually kind of interested in it, despite this not being my kind of thing at all. Maybe I’m the target audience? *shrug*

  8. DARK says:

Amy Schumer is a horrible person. Thats it. I couldn’t care less about what she looks like,

  9. NortherLala says:

How easy is it to say ‘My face is puffy because…’ 🙄 You’re on Tv! People are going to wonder- it’s human nature .

    • SamuelWhiskers says:

Absolutely no one owes the world access to their intimate medical history.

It’s extremely, extremely dangerous to try to normalise coercing women into disclosing their medical history and reproductive issues, especially considering how much discrimination is wrapped up in the history of female reproductive issues.

  10. nb says:

I don’t like Amy but I do feel for her that that she’s going through a health issue that’s altering her appearance so publicly. I was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Hashimoto’s (hypothyroidism) a few years ago and my chronic back pain has also gotten worse and it’s changed my face. My eyes are puffier and the bags underneath never go away, my skin isn’t as smooth and glowing as it was (hypothyroidism can cause very dry skin), and my forehead wrinkles and 11’s have deepened a lot in the past year from wincing in pain all the time. I know this and I can see it, and I’d be heartbroken if people started pointing it out very vocally because I’m admittedly a vain person. Also, it’s nobody’s business.

  11. TOPS says:

    You’re antisemitic

  12. TOPS says:

You’re antisemitic as well. She was talking about terrorists. Ugh.

    • Danbury says:

No she wasn’t. She was literally talking about children. Amy is racist trash and simply calling Gem anti Semitic because they call out Zionist ideology shows that you don’t know what the hell you are talking about, that you are also a racist, or probably both.
