Royal ally: The Rose Hanbury rumors will be ‘cruel & regrettable with hindsight’

We really should thank Stephen Colbert – his three-minute monologue last Tuesday on Rose Hanbury and Prince William has got everyone running scared. Colbert brought up the five-year-old rumors about William and Rose’s alleged affair, and now millions of people are learning everything they can about all of the people involved. Twitter sleuths have got everything: the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley’s alleged lavender marriage, the paternity rumors about Rose’s children, David Rocksavage’s friendship with a Francois Marie Banier, and on and on. All of these explainer pieces and TikToks are being churned out, all while the British media refuses to touch any of the gossip in print or anywhere else.

Hilariously, last week, the Telegraph noted in their coverage of Colbert’s monologue that the Late Show did not “warn” the palace about the Rose Hanbury jokes. This has caused some wonderfully patriotic tweets from Americans, pointing out that Americans don’t have to warn the Windsors about jack sh-t. It’s an open question if this can be sustained, or whether Kensington Palace will be able to successfully bury all of the affair stories yet again, like they sort of did in 2019. After reading a lot of palace-approved coverage in the British media over the weekend, it’s clear that KP is framing the whole “William has a wandering sceptre” issue as “this is so hurtful to William and Catherine, won’t anyone think of their poor children.” Speaking of, a notable royal ally has chimed in, and Piers Morgan backed her up:

“…Especially the Stephen Colbert material are going to seem cruel & regrettable with hindsight.” See, I actually do think that some of the more macabre jokes about Kate’s health will age poorly when all is said and done. But “the Colbert material” is fair game, especially given the lengthy history of what William has done to cover up his alleged affairs and bad behavior. And Piers Morgan quote-tweeting is particularly infuriating – this is a man who has spread all manner of lies, nastiness and racism on the Duchess of Sussex because Meghan was never a “real person” to him. The racist double-standards at play throughout this whole fiasco have really been something to witness.

Meghan and harry are real people and yet subject to hurtful comments by some in the media.yet no hand wringing over that

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

Exactly, Meghan and her children were not treated as real people at any point by these vipers.

Blah, blah, blah hurtful to W&K feelings, won’t someone think of their children, yet William has never denied the affair at any point.

    • Jais says:

The BM has behaved callously towards Meghan and her children for years. They’ve spoken cruelly when she’s done absolutely nothing. The BM has been modeling a lack of empathy for years, particularly towards women. Sticking up for one woman while burying another is not a good look. It makes jemima Khan and piers Morgan’s words mean nothing. Less than nothing.

    • Rapunzel says:

Current headline under royals in the Fail:

“Meghan Markle shares the same ‘narcissistic and controlling’ quality as Wallis Simpson and also married a similarly ‘weak’ man, Royal biographer claims”

They’re still using Meg as deflection. The hypocrisy is crazy obvious.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

I hope the Fail comments are calling this out on par with other social media platforms.

      • Elizabeth says:

That royal biographer is Sally Bedell-Smith. I saw her at the Meghan & Harry’s wedding viewing party that Facebook threw at a hotel in Windsor. She barely looked up at the TV screen. I could tell by the look on her face what her attitude towards Meghan would be even back then.

      • Babz says:

@Elizabeth, Bedell-Smith is such a toady. She wrote a book about Diana, wherein she diagnosed Diana as having borderline personality disorder, for one thing. The rest of the book showed her clearly to be a royalist. I’m not surprised she dislikes Meghan. Any woman who could trash Diana like she did would certainly have no qualms about doing the same to our biracial American Duchess.

    • Proud Mary says:

THIIS. It took this long for anyone in mainstream media to say anything about this issue; but all the abuse of Harry and Meghan (especially Meghan) originates with British mainstream media. I for one, believe that they did have any affair, but it ended a long time ago. I do believe that he’s since moved on other(s).

    • SussexWatcher says:

The racist double standards are so fcuking infuriating. All of those people (rota rats, royal allies, regular people) who are begging for peace and privacy for Keen, Pegs, and their children – but who didn’t say a word when a pregnant Meghan was almost driven to suicide, or the Sussex children were abused in the press, or articles written stirring up hate and violence toward Meghan, or when she had to suffer through countless articles about ‘we pay, you pose,’ or was abused HOURLY online, or was thrown to the wolves by her own husband’s powerful family – can all go to hell.

The very same people demanding privacy for Keen are the ones who created this rabid atmosphere by treating Meghan the way they did. By not recognizing her humanity. By not advocating for her peace and privacy, as a married in royal or a mother or a fucking human being. By making money off of her abuse by writing thousand and thousands of nasty articles about her, to this day! So, seriously, “you and your mother and your sister and your job, everybody but your dog, you can all fuck off.”

    • tamsin says:

Hope Morgan’s cruelty and vileness will be laid bare to a larger audience soon.

      • Jan says:

Larger audience, he is banish to YouTube, he cannot get on tv morning talk shows in the U S, he went on a radio show with a self hating black man.
Fox don’t even want him in the U S.

    • Maida says:

And to see PIERS MORGAN of all people whining about how “real people” are being hurt is to see a previously unimagined level of lack of self-awareness unlocked.

  2. jk says:

I dont believe at the time but one twitter account was right about kate dyeing her children hair. Look at the coronation photo above which was taken during june i guess and all of her kids hair looks brown but somehow it changes to lemon blond. what a fraud.

    • Possum Magic says:

She’s coloured the kids hair for years. She dyes or streaks blonde. It’s the height of narcissism.

      • Kathleen says:

        @Possum Magic
what does dying hair have to do with narcissism? She isn’t blonde herself, so I really don’t see it?

    • ML says:

Not to defend Kate, but I don’t think she dyes her kids’ hair. I live in the NLs and a lot of kids are blond. What I noticed is that the kids get progressively darker (in nursery school you have a lot of light blond kids, but they graduate high school dark blond to brown). During the summer it’s normal for Dutch people to travel to sunny places: the kids come back to school with hair sometimes much lighter, sometimes streaked than before vacation. If these kids are going to Jordan, Mustique, Spain or the like, their hair will lighten in the sun.

      • Shawna says:

I tend to agree here. My kid’s hair is wildly different when he’s in the sun a lot versus staying indoors. Goes from tow headed to medium brown and back again.

      • Tip says:

Those aren’t sun streaks that’s professional.

      • WiththeAmerican says:

Charlotte was born with dark brown hair. It never had streaks in it for years, until she was a certain age.

Can we please stop pretending this woman doesn’t dye her children’s hair. Look at their baby pictures, especially Charlotte.

      • Truthiness says:

Based on my childhood if the kids are outdoors in the summer, ALWAYS in the pool or in outdoor sports, the sun will lighten it like theirs. If they’re indoors, then it has to be professional. Being wealthy, they might be in the pool or outdoors that much.

      • Kathleen says:

        @WiththeAmerican

Nobody is “pretending”, but you have 0 proof, yet sound exasperated at people who are arriving at a different conclusion. Not sure what baby pictures prove, tons and tons of babies have blonde hair and then grow up with darker hair.

    • PRINCESSGONEAWOL says:

She wants to remind everyone that these are Diana’s grandchildren.

    • Sapphos says:

This is genetic and called photo bleaching, UV rays can break down melanin in our hair and lighten the hair. Most Europeans have this genetic marker.

  3. Seraphina says:

NO WHAT IS CRUEL and UNFORGIVABLE is what they said about Meghan and her children – CHILDREN. As well as how the Sussex family has been treated. Will, Kate and the Chumbawamaba couple – these are grown ass adults who have inherited money or live off public coffers – fair game.

    • ML says:

People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. I’m not sure this is fair to Rose. But considering the RR’s constant attacks on Meghan and her un/born children, this seems way too precious. Piers Morgan of all people is not the one who should be saying anything given his past actions.

      • SussexWatcher says:

ML – I get what you’re saying about Rose, but she did have an affair (allegedly) with a married man who is the next king! So she had to know what she was potentially getting into. How could that not come with publicity and scrutiny? And not only that, she seems – to this day – to be getting more protection by Pegs than his own wife. I know it’s different because Keen wasn’t a teenager when she got married, but it’s giving shades of C&C with the wife sacrificed to protect the mistress.

      • ML says:

SussexWatcher, That’s true. I’ve found myself defending K recently due to the fc*kery going on at KP. It’s true that an affair is gross and hurtful to her, too.

    • Proud Mary says:

That spelling/pronunciation gave me a good chuckle. Thank you. I love that Americans don’t seem to give a rat’s tail about their precious titles.

      • Seraphina says:

Colbert deserves the accolades on that one, and I too love it. And that is how I will forever refer to them: Marching Band of Chambawamba. LOL.

  4. Scooby Gang says:

So what do they know about Kate to think these jokes will be cruel in hindsight?

    • Molly says:

Jemima Khan was one of Princess Diana’s closest friends so I believe she is a solid source. I don’t know what she knows, but I’m pretty sure she has pretty good info and would not tweet that if it was not the case…

      • TigerMcQueen says:

If that’s the case, I’m wondering what about Kate’s real condition would make the jokes cruel (and it’s obviously not simple “abdominal surgery” in that case). I can think of a number of things.

But, in hindsight, if I’m honest, no matter what’s up with Kate (stroke/severe mental health eating disorder issues/etc.), I likely still wouldn’t consider the jokes cruel given the very active part Kate played in spreading lies about Meghan and bullying her.

      • Jais says:

Khan being a late friend of Diana’s does not mean she knows anything about what’s going on now. That said, if it comes out that Kate has been having mental health issues then some jokes will look bad in hindsight. Even though most of the jokes are more about an opaque and secret institution than they are about Kate. If it comes out that it was a mental health issue then I’d guess that people will defend the white princess in a way they never did Meghan. Least of all Piers Morgan.

  5. Social media works both ways. They put a crap ton of hurtful stuff out about the Sussexes so to bad so sad if your Rose rumors got out.

  6. Smart&Messy says:

Mary Pester got me all worked up yesterday with her Lucy reference. Now I’m thinking KP lowkey doesn’t mind that the Rose roumors keep surfacing because they distract from the current mistress/es.

    • Sunday says:

100%, I think it’s important to remember that the entire reason Rose (and her husband) is in Will’s orbit is because of the Cholmondeley family’s close ties with the crown – it’s literally their family duty to support the monarchy, and taking the fall for an unsavory news story is potentially what that looks like in the modern era.

    • Harper says:

I read the entire list of Coronation attendees on Wikipedia last night and I still can’t figure out whom Mary Pester is referring to. Two Lucys and neither seemed his type. Sigh.

      • mollyf says:

@DianeatheArcher got it I think: Lucy Orr Ewing
go read the comments on yesterday’s post about Kate editing

      • Jaded says:

@mollyf — BINGO. She’s got quite the professional profile with the NHS, she’s an aristo, gorgeous and single. I think you’ve nailed it. She could have been the mystery blonde in the photo of William leaving a posh London club a year or so ago. https://www.commonwealthfund.org/person/lucy-orr-ewing

      • Lady Digby says:

That particular Lucy is far too intelligent and educated to look at an oafish, stupid boor like Willy.

      • Harper says:

@Jaded very interesting. She gives me Cressida Bonas vibes which would add to his attraction since he wants everything Harry has/had. But I don’t think she is the woman captured in the limo coming out of the private club where William looks like a gopher. That woman had a huge forehead.

      • KnowNothing says:

Googling tells me that Lucy is teaching at Stanford this year and lives in SanFrancisco. William’s arms can’t squeeze that far, nor can helicopters fly that far. Not a quick trip home for her either. I’m inclined toward the Lucy married to William’s family friend, who has stayed his close friend since childhood and could be MaryP’s “odd one.” But I know nothing!

      • MollyF says:

@Jaded not me, @DianaTheArcher got it yesterday, I was just referencing her but didn’t word it clearly enough, sorry
I think it’s her because she fits all the clues to a T. And sure if I were Kate (not having anything in my life but peggy) I *would* go mad knowing Lucy OE is the third wheel. Not so much for the others.
Moreover, making a new FQ acceptable, in a very short time because probably KC hasn’t got much left, isn’t an easy task; but if LOE were to be that FQ, then they would sell her hard, and anyone would buy it. Not so much for the others. She would be untouchable from every angle.

  7. Shawna says:

That tweet about dumping tea is hilarious.

You know what’s cruel? Actually having an affair.

  8. Eloise says:

Can we just get a post with the best tweets you saw while writing this story lol that would be amazing

  9. Water Lilly says:

The Celebitchy motto: “not warning you people that we’ll be dumpin your tea is like our whole thing” 🤣

  10. Maxine Branch says:

As time rambles on what will be remembered is how untrustworthy KP and William are. The sympathy for Kate is vanishing daily as more doctored vengeful pictures are exposed. In addition, double standards are being examined more carefully and the whole of the British establishment and reporters are being outed as mean and vindictive without and ounce of integrity. The royals are getting what they craved publicity but of the worst kind. It will be harder to take them seriously.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Agreed. It is William’s reign that will be viewed as cruel and regrettable. His legacy is already being written, and its not pretty. I’ve said before when the royal family allowed the racist attacks on Meghan and her son that the royals will be judged harshly by history.

  11. Smart&Messy says:

I know it’s not the point now, but Francois Marie Banier is still welcome in rich people circles??? Let’s crowdfund a netflix subscription for Rocksavage. And Rose should count the vases in Houghton Hall, because that man has been proven to steal anything that moves.

    • equality says:

I would bet that all this exposure is leading more people to Rose’s SM and to visit and tour their house. She may be making good money off of this.

  12. Becks1 says:

Nah. The Rose Hanbury story is such a perfect encapsulation of royal reporter hypocrisy and how the palaces circled the wagons 5 years ago to protect William – while throwing H&M under the bus.

That’s the “value” in the rose rumors – not whether William actually had an affair, but how the palace and the press protected him. I’ve seen the clip from the docuseries so many times now, where Harry says “they were willing to lie to protect my brother, but wouldn’t tell the truth to protect us.” That’s what people are taking away from this fiasco – how KP protects W&K and uses privacy as a sword to strike down any legitimate questions about what is actually going on in their taxpayer funded lives, but was happy to use that same privacy sword to encourage and enable attacks on H&M (attacks that are still ongoing.)

    • Jais says:

“That’s the value in the rose rumors not whether William actually had an affair, but how the palace and the press protected him” 💯 all of this @becks1.

  13. equality says:

If their latest PR is true and Kate is being seen out and looking healthy, what will people be regretting? Are they going to drop some big news as to what everything was about and say she was suicidal? Will the media all mock her and claim she is lying like they did Meghan? If they have no proof, they are certainly setting themselves up for anything to be viewed with skepticism.

    • Harper says:

She’s up late at night photoshopping, hitching a ride with Will to a private appointment with her hair up, she’s at Lambrook and the Windsor farm shop. Unless those are, gasp, lies?

Piers can’t help himself; he keeps giving away the real story.

  14. Interested Gawker says:

How has it turned so quickly from

‘Kate is fine, how dare you question this’ to

‘Clearly everything is fine, here is her sister in a bikini!’ to

‘Happy Mother’s Day, no wait…’ to

‘Kate’s situation is serious, how very dare you’ to

‘Yay! She’s browsing a farm store! Trust us!’

When will some grownups straighten KP out?

  15. Rapunzel says:

    Lol…. current Fail story:

“Prince William is ‘hurt’ after seeing ‘Kate Middleton hounded like his mother Princess Diana was’, royal expert claims” subheading:
    “Protective of his wife”

    They are trying sooooo hard.

    • Midnight@theOasis says:

But Harry isn’t hurt by the hounding of Meghan? The double standards are infuriating.

    • Laura D says:

Nope! She is nowhere near the level of press intrusion piled onto Diana. Diana was hounded to the point where she was killed. The nearest any member of the BRF have been to Diana levels of intrusion were H&M in NYC. Even though the BM tried to laugh it off, the incident was so serious the police in NYC have strengthened their security when they visit.

Kate could stop all this nonsense by releasing the original photo or sending out a brief (uncensored) video message. It doesn’t have to be a 15 minute monologue, just a few words of thanks for the well wishers would be enough. Most people will respect her wishes about wanting to keep her medical details quiet but, this complete news black out is absolutely ridiculous. As the RRs kept reminding us when talking about another duchess “We pay, you pose.”

  16. sevenblue says:

Almost 5 years ago, they sold H&M to the tabloids (specifically to Dan Wooten) to bury this affair story with Rose, now the truth is finally known to the public in a strange turn of events. I never thought this is how the all the lies will come to the surface. Will dropped from his godfather’s memorial and the dam burst. I always thought how no one is seeing what we all are seeing for years. Apparently the answer is because no one cared to look before. Now, when you look at it, the palace, the british media, everyone is seeing the lies, the cruelty of these people.

  17. Brassy Rebel says:

But I thought their whole thing is that they’re not “real people”. They’re not just like us and never can be. They have those special superior genes which make them so much better than us and impervious to trivial things like a comedian’s jokes. It’s why we can never question them or hold them accountable for anything. They are God-like beings, not human beings. Yet, suddenly, when the train goes off the rails, we’re supposed to stop and consider that they are, in fact, “real people” who have real feelings which can be hurt. And think of the poor children!

The royals need to pick a lane. Are they “superior beings” who are our betters? Or are they “real people”? Because right now they’re working overtime at having it both ways.

  18. Amy Bee says:

My only question is where was this compassion and concern when Meghan was being smeared by the press?

    • BlueNailsBetty says:

Compassion and concern didn’t exist back then. It wasn’t invented until January 17, 2024.

    • Jaded says:

Biracial American women who marry into the BaRF are not allowed to get compassion and concern.

  19. BlueNailsBetty says:

Fun fact: the rota, royal allies, and “sources” kicked off 2024 with a WEEK LONG DEBATE about Lili’s name.

But sure, we’re supposed to shut up and “be respectful” of the secret shenanigans of the white aristocrats especially the shenanigans that involve the future king of England.

Cool, good to know. Also, fuck off with that nonsense.

  20. mary Pester says:

Soooo, Megan deserved all the sht, lies and downright fking bullying, but please spare the white, photo shopping, racist, show pony! NO, why the hell should we, see the thing here Morgan, is your reputation is as bad if not worse than keens is now. You Morgan are a liar like keen, a fantasist like keen, and a racist just like keen. The only difference is t
that you oversaw the hacking of Harry’s phone (and lied about it, then ran away you coward) you oversaw the hacking of a dead child’s phone, you disgusting little man. And we have keen, who tried to use her children to deflect again. So get lost and I wish to god someone would publish Tiffins article that he wrote at the height of the rose affair, because it was THE UNVARNISHED TRUTH, even with quotes from other people who knew about it, but as usual, all the papers bowed to the Palace

    • Liz says:

In a corrupt system everyone is bought. There’s no such thing as a true ‘free’ press.

You’ll get more truth and insight on a sub like this.

Where no one is bribed and there’s no agenda.

Thank you kaiser, the wonderful Mary P and every commenter

  21. QuiteContrary says:

Colbert went easy on Kate and mostly kept his mockery to the Britishness of it all.

Kate couldn’t handle anything like the hate that was heaped on Meghan (no one should have to bear it, really).

  22. Heather says:

The tea on US TikTok is INSANE. They are not only upset that allll the Peg/Rose stuff was hidden for years—and they talk about it all, Rocksavage’s French BF, his financials, allll of it, but they are dangerously close to realizing that the British press are not, well, journalists, but toadies.

The other tea they claim is that KC’s condition is quite dire, and also that Cowmilla has Parkinson’s.

For the cherry on top, they claim that Harry found out about Rose back in the day, was furious with Will after what cheating had done to their mother, and threatened to blow the lid hence no options at the Sandringham Summit.

    Whew. LOL

    • Truthiness says:

I’m not on tiktok but I would believe Harry got mad at Will for cheating. It hits too close to home.

I got silently mad at my husband’s office party once, it was for a small litigation cluster where everyone worked 80-100 hrs a week. Seeing the body language of a married guy with toddlers at home with a single attractive overworked litigator set me off. Mentioned it at home and my husband said “why wld you think that? Oh they do have lunch together all the time.”

    • Berkeleyfarm says:

I’ve been thinking for a long time that Harry knew about the affair, was mad about it (family history), and got fed to the wolves as cover.

Because the way the BRF reacted to a mention of Rose was swift and telling. There was absolutely something there. I don’t know if Rose was the beard, the babe, or somewhere in between (to quote something I saw, I think, on CB but may have been elsenet).

If the rumors about W allegedly swinging both ways are true and became public, it would probably blow over in the UK (the boarding-school elite are definitely familiar with Upper Class Poofs) but might put a crimp in those suitcases o’ cash that get collected from the Gulf states.

  23. Lau says:

The affair rumours are way more advanced than in 2019 and we are really close to people finding out other mistresses. They’ll never manage to bury all of that as well as they did before, they will try though.

  24. VilleRose says:

I do wonder what made Stephen Colbert dive back into the Rose Hanbury stories. While I love him for it, I’m just confused as to why he decided to bring it up now. It doesn’t seem like that story blew back up until he mentioned it in his monologue. I can’t remember any American publication even talking about the affair story in 2019, or maybe they did briefly until William sold out his brother and SIL to the British tabloids. Did he just have his writers do a ton of background research and the affair stories came up? And maybe Stephen was like huh I’ve never heard of that before, I’m going to talk about it! At any rate, all it took was an American late night comedian to make that story global news in a way it never really has before.

    • BlueNailsBetty says:

He did it because one of the tabloids ran a get-to-know-Rose-Hanbury piece out of nowhere. That triggered all of the sudden interest in her and the cheating story.

Before Kate’s disappearance only royal watchers knew about Rose. After Kate went missing now everyone is getting interested in the current royal fuckery.

      • VilleRose says:

Really? Which tabloid was that? It just seems like Rose was everywhere after Stephen talked about her. Clearly not keeping up with the British tabs but I was also traveling for work last week and not paying as much attention as I do usually. But it’s also impossible to keep track of everything, it’s been information overload ever since that photoshop pic came out!

    • Liz says:

I’ve wondered if the Middleton’s are behind it. Showing Wills as a less than stellar husband (not that he needs much help)

      • VilleRose says:

That’s a good theory! Payback for the doctored photo controversy and making Kate take the fall? But now I can’t remember if the photoshop pic came out first or if Colbert’s monologue about Rose came first. It’s been tooo insane!!

    • sevenblue says:

@VilleRose, I watch Colbert’s show all the time. He has a lot of young writers. They always add some silly content to the monologue. Usually, the monologue includes 2-3 serious political subjects, one silly gossip. He even did Hiddleswift section at the time, which was one of my favorites. Rose rumors were everywhere online, no doubt his team read all of the gossip. They referenced the magazine reports while talking about it. I don’t think there is more to it.

    • Truthiness says:

Colbert read ALL of Spare before his Harry interview. I’d bet money he and Evie watched the Netflix documentary. He consumes culture voraciously. He knows what’s up and is of irish blood.

  25. Schrodinger's Kate says:

Piers, shut it. Meghan and Harry were probably the only people in that orbit besides the children who deserve any respect and consideration.

Everyone else…hah! Go ahead and get it out there that Rocksavage, as high in position as he is, is “super duper bestest friends” with someone as evil as Banier. It’s not a matter of immorality, it’s complete amorality. What kind of person is Rocksavage to associate himself with a person like Banier? What kind of person is Rose to let this all happen under her nose? I guess being lady of a grand manor house makes it worth it to her.

What kind of people are royalty that they exhalt Rocksavage to the position he holds and don’t pressure him to give up such an unsavory associate? (That’s rhetorical, with Andrew standing right there we know the answer).

What kind of people cheer on and celebrate Rose for “putting a woman in her place” because that woman is a commoner who got the “lofty idea” that she should come first in her own husband’s regard?

Granted, I see a lot of that attitude here for some reason. I know Kate and the Middletons are eminently unlikable and downright vile, but as bad as they are, look at who and what the toffs really are and what they’re really up to, thinking they’re above scrutiny because of “breeding” and “social standing”.

Kate’s mistake was ever wanting to be among them and be one of them. I think she knows that on some level now. I don’t know what her mother thinks. I think she’s incapable of having an epiphany of that sort and will continue to push her daughter into places she isn’t suited for. Regardless, this is what they wanted, this is what they schemed and maneuvered for, and so let them reap the headlines.

Meghan had a private investigator comb through her life and he found NOTHING. Not a single creditable verifiable bad thing to use against her. So the press made up lies and passed it off as royal expert analysis and commentary.

That’s the difference. Meghan never deserved the beating she took in the press. And Harry answered for everything wrong or misguided he did himself.

But the rest of them? Actions…meet consequences.

    • Liz says:

      Really good points SK

“Granted, I see a lot of that attitude here for some reason. I know Kate and the Middletons are eminently unlikable and downright vile, but as bad as they are, look at who and what the toffs really are and what they’re really up to, thinking they’re above scrutiny because of “breeding” and “social standing”.”

Yup. Like, people…you might admire Rose’s apparent interest in the arts and whatnot, but she’s still a dyed in the wool Tory. She interned for Michael Gove and is close to Sarah Vile (pun intended). I always cringe when posters wax poetic about her, because it’s practically guaranteed that she holds the same nasty views as the Tories. Her sister Marina certainly does, judging by her likes on Twitter.

So I think the reason a lot of people overly praise Rose is because she’s pretty much exactly who Kate wishes she was or the kind of person that Kate has spent decades trying to fit in with, so there is certainly a mean spirited reaction to her I think. Like with Camilla, it was hard to see her appeal over Diana. With rose, its pretty easy to see the appeal and you know that has to sting. And the whole “the toffs thinking they’re above scrutiny” is kind of the funny part here because of that – because Kate so desperately wants to be accepted by this group and not only are they never going to accept her, they’re going to sleep with her husband.

I think for all the toffs and the wealthy aristo class their politics pretty much go without saying so its kind of a level playing field if that makes sense. Like Kate’s political leanings are probably also pretty awful, you know?

I think if Kate hadn’t been so awful to Meghan and hadn’t used Meghan to hide this affair we actually would be a lot less “pro Rose” and more sympathetic to Kate.

and I will say that people on here still call Camilla the Mistress and hate her for having an affair with charles but also will write paragraphs praising Rose – and while some may say “well Camilla actively tried to ruin Diana’s life” etc…..at this point we have no proof that Rose hasn’t tried the same, especially if she’s the one who leaked the affair initially.

People call Camilla “the Mistress” while ignoring the fact that she wasn’t the only one. Likewise, William may have multiple sidepieces.

      • Truthiness says:

Agreed. I really like Rose’s hard work on Houghton Hall, especially the art installations but I don’t know her as a person and it ends there.

      • Jais says:

Interesting points. The whole Rose turnip toff debacle is essentially such a story of classicism. And how people who want to move up in station are derided by the upper classes. Which is grotesque. For Americans, we’re gonna root for the ones who say eff this and burn it all down. It’s just funny bc in another world, Kate could have been the hero of this story. But she she took all that vile racist classism and turned it against another woman. Personally, I could care less about a discussion about who is the prettiest out of the two. What a silly and insipid conversation. They are both attractive women in their 40s with money. The most I’ll say about appearance is that they both have terrible posture although I do think Kate’s was getting better! Idk i just have a weird thing about posture bc it’s painful to see. If physically able, try to work on it little by little! However, Rose does have style and has done really cool things with Houghton Hall. But the fact that she’s friendly with Sarah Vine is a big no no no no no.

Anybody know why Goldsmith’s have sided with Willy over Harry? I only ask because a while back was it Ben Goldsmith who was calling Meghan a liar on twitter?

    • equality says:

Well, hopefully, all those who sided with Willy are having a big “oh, no” moment. Especially, those who want to call H&M liars while ignoring the real liars.

Catherine the Great maybe is about to set sail into the sunset. So much for Kingmaker.

  28. Kelly says:

Forget about Kate and William. If he and Rose have not had an affair, how do you think she, her children and husband feel. By nature of their position, the adults have to follow the “never explain, never complain” BS while their children are probably bullied at school.

    • equality says:

Why would Rose and Rocksavage have to follow the “never complain” BS? I feel for all the children involved whether the affair is real or not.

Wah Wah! Just watch one day you’ll be sorry you ever joked about perfect princess kate!! – royal rota

That genie is definitely out of the bottle. My husband, who couldn’t name a Kardashian to save his life, asked me “Which one is William, and who is his side piece?” If he’s hearing about it, it’s no longer buried.

I live in Australia and they had a whole segment the other night on a very popular radio station about the Rose Hanbury affair and how one of her kids might be William’s. Thank you Colbert.
