King Charles wants to stop the Sussexes from visiting commonwealth countries

There have been a few stories over the years about Buckingham Palace and the UK’s Tory government using their “political capital” to throw tantrums about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to various foreign governments. One of the biggest examples of this is that various Tory lackeys were sent to President Biden’s staff in 2022, and those lackeys begged President Biden to not allow the Sussexes on Air Force One. Additionally, it was said the palace leaned on First Lady Jill Biden’s office pretty hard to get her to skip the Invictus Games in The Hague and Dusseldorf. Now that the Sussexes have pulled off a massively successful non-royal tour of Nigeria – without any input or assistance from the British government – it’s safe to say that royal feathers are ruffled. Nigeria is part of the British commonwealth, King Charles is the head of the commonwealth, and as we’ve seen in the past week, he’s absolutely furious that the Sussexes are still popular and they had such a great tour. So now Charles is trying to bully commonwealth countries into snubbing the Sussexes.

King Charles has got a new “priority” as he works to stop Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visiting Commonwealth countries, claims a royal expert. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have just wrapped up their three-day tour of Nigeria. The couple were visiting the African country to promote the Invictus Games and they met with a number of key figures during the trip.

Royal author Tom Quinn claims the monarch was angered by Harry and Meghan’s trip and is doing everything in his power to stop it happening again. He suggested to The Mirror: “King Charles is in a terrible bind – he would love to strip Meghan and Harry of their royal titles, but fears this will look vindictive. On the other hand, he has to find a way to put a stop to any future trips by Harry and Meghan to other commonwealth countries. That has now become his number one priority.”

Tom suggested the King might use “back channels” in order to “try to block any further invitations to the wayward couple”. However, he admitted that will “prove very difficult”.

The royal expert explained why Charles might be unnerved by Harry and Meghan’s visit to Nigeria. He said: “The ultimate fear for King Charles and William is that Meghan’s rebelliousness actually ends up making her more appealing than the understated members of official team royal. That’s why she always makes a point of holding Harry’s hand for the cameras, something she knows Willam and Kate would never do.”

Tom suggested the monarch will now be making some changes to the Royal Family. He said: “After Nigeria one thing is certain: huge efforts will go into changing the way the Royal Family deals with its role in the Commonwealth. Steps have already been taken via official channels to try to lessen the chance that other Commonwealth countries invite Meghan and Harry to visit.”

[From The Daily Mirror]

Charles and QEII did the same thing to Diana after the divorce – instead of recognizing that she could still be an asset to the monarchy, they feared her power. They used their influence to clip her wings and block any potential ambassadorships or larger charitable positions. With the Windsors, it’s never “live and let live” – it’s always “how dare anyone try to thrive and do good work while not part of this twisted royal system?”

So, I have no doubt that Charles will try to bully and beg commonwealth countries to snub the Sussexes. Will it work? I mean, given that all of these countries want to host the Invictus games and expand their Invictus programs, probably not? Even beyond Invictus, the Sussexes just bring a lot of eyeballs wherever they go. Even I’m like “wow, Nigeria looks like a nice place to visit.” I bet Nigeria sees a significant tourism bump, in addition to everything else the Sussexes’ brought with this visit. Imagine being a world leader or a foreign government and getting a call from a whiny, spiteful, tantrum-prone king, begging you to snub his son.

Yep, a few more years of stories just like this. Charles and eventually Huevo thinking they look like “leaders” by acting like jealous, petulant children. I hope every Commonwealth country they try this on responds by firing them on live TV again. Let’s see how much these countries like being told what to do by the UK in 2024 and beyond.

It’s cute to see how threatened they feel by the more popular and successful son and daughter in law, though!

    • rosa mwemaid says:

William has already said, according to the media that he is not interested in the Commonwealth so he is not in a position to play the King’s game.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

CHOGM 2024 is going to be a bonfire of Cluck’s vanity istg

He REALLY thinks he still has sway!
Like, dude. Recognize your own irrelevance, bide in your wee Balmoral/Windsor/Sandringham hole, & let the rest of the world get on with being useful & sh-t.

He’s mad because he’s been called out as being too racist to visit African Commonwealth nations, and that H&M rode in quietly and were treated like rock stars. They were feted. Adored. Embraced. Beloved. The DIL he tried to break, destroy, and jettison from the family was welcomed to her ancestral home and MADE ONE OF THEM. LIFTED UP. Meghan has the rank of Princess Anne now. And Harry got new honors from Nigerian military that negate the whole “here’s a regiment of helicopters you don’t know how to fly Huevo, let’s make this handoff look flash so Haz gets jealous” nonsense.

Being petty, peevish, and a perennial malcontent does not make people love you, Chuck. That’s the sort of behaviour that gets you fired on TV by a Jamaican PM before you’ve had a chance to sit down. You’ve had 70yrs to learn this lesson.

      • TRex says:

I couldn’t help but look at all the beautiful photos from H&M interacting with children, dignitaries, and royalty during their trip to Nigeria this past weekend in comparison and contrast to W&C’s disastrous previous “white colonialist tour” photos. Seriously.. Like OMG.

Does anyone within the firm have any EQ?

      • Proud Mary says:

Maria deranger you are lying. Provide evidence or be gone!

    • TheFarmer'sWife says:

Chuckles finally gets the crown…and this is how he behaves? It’s 2024, Chuck, not 1724! Good gosh! The Windsors’ education seems sloppy, but I assume they know how to read or need glasses because this story is not complimentary! Any decent human would be ashamed of this article written on their behalf. Chuckles has been outed, again, as the mean-spirited, jealous, out-of-touch, known cheater, and racist he is, who continually wears a chest full of medals he doesn’t deserve. The rest of you so-called “royals” just stay home; you cost Canada money we’d rather spend on people who do something other than wave badly. We can’t wait to see Harry and Meghan at the first Winter Invictus Games!!!

      • Surly Gale says:

Dear Farmer’s Wife…yes, yes and yes!! Princess Anne was here in BC to christen a new ship (one that will patrol the Artic) and I came across only two mentions of her being here. One on CBC and the other was the front page of the North Shore News. She was in full naval uniform, and everything. Full on royal, and so very little excitement, if any at all. The excitement for H&M and Invictus coming to BC (Squamish & Whistler) is over the moon! My son lives in Squamish, so I’ll be hanging w/him for sure we’ll be lined on the street to cheer!
Charles trying to stop H&M from coming to Canada? Get outta here, Chuck!

      • TheFarmer'sWife says:

Dear SurlyGirl, the PR shouldn’t have worn that uniform. Chuckles, FYI, commonwealth countries are lining up to leave you! You’ve shown your hand; it’s gross. Harry and Meghan outshine you because they are the real deal; you only think you are. SurlyGirl, I’ll be watching on TV. Lucky you, give H&M a wave from all us CBers. I think Harry reaches for Meghan’s hand to keep her safe. God only knows what people have threatened.

      • Debbie says:

I feel Chuck’s pain though, as Bill Clinton would say. I mean, it’s not every former senior royal who would be able to command the respect, the interest in their works, and the attention that the Sussexes can. Even now, Chuck and his wife, or Sophie and her “plus one” can go somewhere and it’s only afterward that people remark, “Gee, it’s been a while since they’ve been seen.” No one knows what they’re doing internationally, and no one cares (perhaps in England they do, but…). And William and Kate’s tours garner attention from those who want to point and laugh, let’s face it. So, I understand the desperation on their part to turn things around, but they only have one solution: revenge and rage, and that’s never worked before.

I guess the BM, BRF and all their supporters really thought that without the UK government’s blessings and the backing of the royal family, that H and M would never be heard of again. Go figure.

    • yupyup says:

      Can you just picture it?

King Charles: Hey I know I haven’t visited since I became King. But I would love to ask for a little favor. Please ban all visits from H&M until the end of time.

      Commonwealth: Why?

KC3: They will outshine my workshywilly. I know it may help the country but we must stick together.

      Commonwealth: *brings out receipts*

KC3: Why yes I was on of the racist that talked about my mix race grandchild skin color. I did snub my mixed race relatives on the global stage during the coronation. Yes that Meghan almost unalive herself during my smear campaign ……..hello….. hello

      • Snrub says:

So KFC III has time to petulantly call up Commonwealth countries and complain about representatives of a nonprofit veteran-serving organization and ask the countries to not welcome them? Not a good look. I’m in the US, but I hope the British public is asking why they’re funding someone so vindictive with so much free time on his hands.

    • Barb Mill says:

Yes. Apparently just Meghan and Harry holding hands is threatening to them. Could they be more pathetic than that.

      • Lux says:

Clearly they hold hands to illustrate how Kate and William do not. Clearly, it’s all about making them look bad, as opposed to H&M actually wanting to do it?

Everyone has their own love language and I’m not super touchy-feeling with my husband (sweaty palms) but they need to realize that not everything is done to spite someone else. The things that they think is okay to put out there….

      • SIde Eye says:

Right? What planet do these people live on? Notice the wording of it “she insists on holding his hand” WTF. Like Harry has no agency or say in the matter lol.

Meghan: we must hold hands to show Will and Kate do not!

Harry: but I don’t want to hold hands!

Meghan: I’m in charge!!! You’re holding my hand!

Harry: Ok fine! But I won’t like it!

WTF is wrong with these people? I’m stunned how idiotic they sound even for them.

    • Cara says:

This is beyond pathetic. The UK citizens pays actual money to keep these whiney little bitches … but why??? Are they a good value for the money?? Does anyone need them trotting out in their fake military uniforms plastered with fake medals? It’s embarrassing. If I were British, I would also be horribly embarrassed by the way the royals spend so much time sniping at Harry and Meghan as if they have nothing else to do. Could it be because they actually do have nothing real to do with their time other than working to create the appearance that they are worth paying for? Why isn’t that a harder sell than it is when the evidence is right there in front of you?? I hope the Commonwealth nations rise up and dump these lazy freaks. The rest of the world is cheering for them to do so as soon as possible. Are they really going to allow Chuck and Willy to tell them who is and who is not allowed to visit their countries? The UK does not OWN Harry or Meghan or me or you. We can go where we want for the most part. We can certainly go where we are invited. The British royals have no actual power. They are air/ghosts/smoke/nothing. I pray the Commonwealth countries tell the Prime Minister to back off and that they will remain in the Commonwealth only if the monarchy is dissolved. Tell them those clowns do not represent you and they certainly don’t call the shots anymore.

    • MelodyM says:

This! I imagine any CW country told who they can and cannot invite will uninvite themselves from the CW. Go for it, Chuckle Putz, let’s see how well that works for you, lol!

      • Whyforthelove says:

Seeing these folks in action I cannot imagine how their ancestors convinced actual countries to bow to them. Chuck and Willy are the two least impressive whiny little pathetic jackasses

      • Bad Janet says:

The answer mostly lies somewhere on the continuum of pressure to extortion.

  2. Sue says:

Does Tom Quinn sound like a double agent secretly working for Republicans to anyone else? Because HOW ON EARTH could anyone who truly is supportive of Charles and the BRF think this story is a good look for him? It’s pathetic.

    • Mia4s says:

I know right?! What’s the threat? If these two visit your country “official” royals won’t? Hahahahaha!!! Bitch don’t threaten us with a good time.

    • swaz says:

BUT CHARLES IS STUPID ANYWAY, HE STILL THINKS THERE’S A BRITISH EMPIRE 🤣🤣🤣

      • Get Real says:

Tell that to the people of the six occupied counties in Northern Ireland.

      • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

i’d like to see this backfire on them big time, asking the commonwealth to blocking his own son is fcking crazy. Unless the Uk is providing major funds to these countries, i could see the block happening. But I hope they get the narrative out that they were to invite the sussexes but the king threaten to cancel some funds transfer for important causes to the country. Make the world see how fckng ridiculous clowns they are. Gang of royal mafia bandits

And please, to non commonwealth countries: please make a point to invite them and have a great time with them

    • Tina says:

I honestly think many of these reporters hate them and hate that they have to generate this shit on a regular basis.

    • Bad Janet says:

I have seriously been wondering this too. It seems almost too absurd that they are this bad at making the royal family look good, but then, they are shackled by what the palace tells them to say.

    • yupyup says:

So they don’t want to be appealing and they also don’t want any help from royalty to go to the commonwealth? Did he just write that ? That he is ordering AFRICAN countries and some white ones about what they can and can’t do ? Notice that they aren’t saying he or Bill will go to the Commonwealth countries. They just don’t want H&M there. Meg and her hussy ways of HAND HOLDING.

    • bisynaptic says:

      🎯

  3. Chaine says:

Novel idea: Meghan holds Harry’s hand because they love each other and want to be physically close?

ITA on the tourism angle, I am now interested in going to Nigeria!

    • CatMum says:

“Meghan holds Harry’s hand” yes and Harry holds Meghan’s hand! Like normal couples do. These psychos are trying to infantilize Harry. Not going to fly. (See what I did there?)

      • Moniquep says:

Yes, and I also firmly believe that it’s a message to everyone that they are a team that will not be separated, no matter what is thrown at them.

Did you guys catch the tender kiss at “coronation ” of our Princess??

        That man loves his Queen!!

    • Josephine says:

and the suggestion that hand-holding will bring down the institution is awesome — apparently the whole royal thing is soooooo fragile that a “rebellious” act of hand-holding can lead to its demise!

      • Couch Potato says:

Strange how the Norwegian RF is still going strong. The Crown prince and princess often hold hands and are even spotted kissing on a ski event. The same can be said about his sister Princess Martha Louise, who is marrying an American self proclaimed shaman, of African descendant.

      • Brassy Rebel says:

That Meghan is so rebellious. She holds her husband’s hand! In public!

    • Ciotog says:

And to support someone who has PTSD symptoms from being in front of the cameras.

    • Harper says:

For a minute there I thought he was going to say that, after Nigeria, huge efforts would go into making Huevo and Bones hold hands too.

But no doubt they are going to do whatever they can to make sure H&M don’t repeat the weekend’s success. Remember, they started the smear campaign after the Fiji triumph and that was back when things were tamer by comparison.

      • Debbie says:

Apparently, there were efforts to make Huevo and Bones hold hand too or just, stop sneering at each other, but I’m told that William balked at those suggestions. He was quoted as saying, “Make me!”

    • SarahLee says:

Because Kant’s ass-grabbing is so royally dignified. These racist twits need to STFU.

    • Becks1 says:

Also, Harry is reaching for her CONSTANTLY. The BM likes to act like its all initiated by Meghan, but Harry is the one who can’t keep his hands off her in public, LOL.

    • Boxy Lady says:

A cisgender heterosexual couple holding hands is an act of rebellion. TIL, I guess.
      The BRF is insane.

      • GoodWitchGlenda says:

But you forgot the important part (to them): Meghan is black. The only function of monarchy in 2024 is the uphold white supremacy.

    • Debbie says:

Wait a minute, the “understated” members of the official royal team? Does he mean people like Kate who grabs William’s @ss in public, on stage whenever she manages to get close enough to him? “Understated” people who have flashed their biscuits across several continents and who turn a funereal into a fashion shoot? That’s “understated”? I don’t know, I guess that word must have a different meaning in England too.

      • Chrissy says:

        LOL! Well said, Debbie.

      • Jais says:

Come on now. It was an understated ass grab for god’s sake. It is the epitome of British class and dignity to ass grab while white in a church.

  4. Beverley says:

So keeping his son out of commonwealth countries has become Chuckles’ Number One Priority?

That must be some kinda news to his subjects who are trying to navigate difficult waters in the current economy.

    • swaz says:

And here I am thinking that Charles’ number one priority is his health 😒😒😒

      • Beverley says:

IKR??? Makes one wonder about the “cancer” diagnosis. One would think that he’s laser-focused on recovering his health. But here we are.🤷🏾‍♀️

  5. Feeshalori says:

Charles should give David Beckham this assignment, make him work for that knighthood.

  6. Sara says:

That’s one way to speed up the disintegration of the Commonwealth

    • Royal Downfall Watcher says:

That is my thought exactly. Thoughts and prayers that these commonwealth countries give the BRF one finger salute and start working on a plan to be free of it. What exactly are they gaining by being in the commonwealth? Maybe it is more than I think? I just think having Charles and Will as your King/Prince is not exactly a winning proposition.

    • Agnes says:

Yep! Do Australia and Canada count, or will they only be not allowed to go to “Black” commonwealth countries? Don’t make us all die of laughter, Chuckles.

      • rosa mwemaid says:

From my Husband’s experience in Australia, they aren’t going to want Meghan anyway.

      • Debbie says:

That’s quite alright because Meghan isn’t giving a thought to Australia anyway.

      • Esquire says:

The written Australian Constitution bars Harry and Meghan from visiting Australia in any official capacity since they do not represent the monarch. So it would be unconstitutional. They are welcome to visit unofficially, but no invite can be forthcoming from any government or related entity.

      • Sydneygirl says:

Australia would love to have them here. Did everyone forgot how wildly popular their tour here was? It was the beginning of the perceived threat of their popularity to that of the rest of them.

      • esquire says:

@Sydneygirl: I don’t deny that at all. Though the right-wing MSM has not been supportive of H&M at all, quite the opposite.

The written constitutional law as it stands does not afford M&H to visit Australia in an official capacity, as they did in Nigeria. I ought to clarify that Harry is still Charles’ legitimate heir, in that he hasn’t been removed from the line of succession (never going to happen).

But QEII made it clear that, from the date of the Sandringham Summit, the Sussexes no longer represent the monarch. So, no invitation would be forthcoming on a formal basis. That would be trespassing the monarch’s express mandate.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

esquire, so what you’re saying is that if the military asks them to visit for IG they can’t go? IG doesn’t have anything to do with the brf. They went to Nigeria as private citizens. How could that be unconstitutional?

Meghan is now a Nigerian Princess. They would bar her, too?

    • Hypocrisy says:

If this is true, he is stepping very heavily into an international political issue. Meghan is not his subject, she travels under a USA passport she is a citizen of the United States and has rights of her own the King of England interfering with that is cause for serious alarm.

      • GoodWitchGlenda says:

I got the impression that he was more trying to stop these commonwealths from inviting them and doing whole tours, versus trying to stop them just traveling wherever they want for leisure. Either way it’s bad and immature.

  7. seaflower says:

Cue countries starting to line up and leave the commonwealth at a faster pace. The Brits might not realise it, but commonwealth countries have long memories, and remember when we were dumped for the EU, only to suddenly be useful again after Brexit. We did all decided to stop hosting the commonwealth games.

    • OliviaOne says:

Came to write exactly that and “Let’s see which Caribbean commonwealth country bends themselves backwards to get M&H in asap for an official visit in 3… 2…. 1……”

      • Oh come on. says:

Yep. Cue a flood of invitations for M&H to visit English-speaking Caribbean and African countries.

Probably days after they receive a call from the office of King Snubby trying to tell these free countries what to do.

    • Moniquep says:

Most of these countries are independent nations anyway, and they get no real benefit from being a member of the commonwealth. If Chuckles is going to try and bend them to his will, it won’t bode well for him or continuation of the commonwealth.

And by the way, Meghan being more appealing than the left behinds, that ship sailed several years ago. Horse already left the barn!!

    • Esquire says:

Retaining or not the British monarch as head of state is a separate matter to remaining in the Commonwealth of Nations.

  8. Jais says:

Umm, well I think Charles’ ultimate fear has already been realized. Megan is more appealing than the understated royals. And it’s not bc she holds her husband’s hand, omg. She’s a photographer’s dream whether she’s in a shot with Harry or on her own. She exudes warmth and intelligence and kindness, which can’t be faked. That she’s more appealing has already come to pass, dude. Let it go.

  9. What the Putz seems to forget is these commonwealth countries are asking themselves why are we apart of a commonwealth which does nothing for us but belittles them every chance they get. They see in real time what they did to a biracial women who married their Prince. So they see just how racist they are and the don’t believe the bullsh*t they tell the commonwealth that they are a modern monarchy who include and welcome all.

  10. Mel says:

I think this has to be his dumbest idea yet. Half the commonwealth, especially countries with people of color wants to dump you already, so yeah, this will play well. I can see lots of invites coming H&M’s way now. They get butts in seats and the commonwealth countries can give a big old middle finger to Chuckles. I also think this is a whole lot of empty bluster from the palace. People are firing you live on air, read the room.

    • aquarius64 says:

There are 19 African nations in the Commonwealth, making up a third of all countries in the Commonwealth.

      • seaflower says:

And you can be sure the rest of the nations in the commonwealth are watching, esp the Caribbean and Pacific islands. China has been courting a number of these countries for years with huge infrastructure investments. It’s already slipping out under the UK’s nose.

      • harpervalleypta says:

All the African nations in the commonwealth are commonwealth nations, so it’s a completely voluntary association and Charles is not their king in any way.

Compare that with commonwealth realms, like Australia and Canada and Barbados, which have the British monarch as their own head of state.

Supposedly Charles has no power in the realms, but he has at least symbolic ties. He has no ties to any of the African commonwealth nations so they can go “That’s nice, buzz off” to him whenever.

      • Midnight@theOasis says:

@harpervalleypta. Barbados is now a republic having removed the British sovereign as their head of state.

      • esquire says:

Actually, Charles does have power in Australia if he so chooses. Born from the Empire, Australia is a convict/penal colony. He is head of state and, absent a referendum passing, can’t be removed and nor can his power. There are statutory powers under the Constitution and reserve powers (rarely used). The last time was the so-called “Dismissal” of the Whitlam government in 1975. It was the cause of action in a recent case in the High Court of Australia, the so-terms “palace letters” case.

In reality, the monarch’s powers are exercised by the Governor-General, traditionally an Australian appointed by the government of the day. Any and all power by the British parliament over Australian law was removed as late as 1986 (the dual “Australia Acts”). There was some debate as to the constitutionality of these Acts, but, in Australia’s quest for independence, it went no further.

As I said above, membership of the Commonwealth of Nations is not inextricably linked to having the British monarch as head of state. Any nation can join.

As for Australia, there are other alliances that are more relevant today, such as the US-alliances AUKUS and to a lesser extent, ANZUS. Those are security/defence treaties, whereas the Commonwealth is more about trade, economics and soft diplomacy.

  11. amy says:

It must be awful to be King of England and head of the Commonwealth and realize you literally have no power at all. No ability to stop the peasants from voting for elected leaders or welcoming wayward family members as honored guests.

Charles is lucky more countries haven’t left the Commonwealth yet. It’s coming and it’s going to be humiliating.

    • aftershocks says:

FWIW, these countries did not ‘leave’ the Commonwealth of Nations, they have just removed the British monarch as their Head of State. It is beneficial, in terms of global cooperation and economic trade, to remain a Commonwealth nation, while it is socio-economically worthwhile domestically to be a Republic with your own Head of State and political independence.

  12. MsIam says:

Seems like a big ask from countries that you looted and plundered and now don’t give a damn about to help you mistreat your son. But keep letting the royal experts write your legacy for you Charles. Plus I don’t believe there is any truth about the Air Force One story or even the story about Jill Biden and Invictus. The White House sent a delegation to both games and Harry has had no problem interacting with high level US military involving Invictus and veterans. And the plane story never made sense because the Sussexes weren’t going to DC.

    • WithTheAmerican says:

The Biden administration ignored the Tory U.K. government pressure to appoint that right wing hack to NATO (who is now involved in a scandal, because of course).

Biden does not take orders or even suggestions from Charles. The U.S. has the military might the U.K. doesn’t. So unless they want to end democracy in the U.K., they need President Biden and he would not, under any circumstances, be crappy to an Afghanistan veteran because King Charles is mad.

The Bidens have always supported the military, Dr Jill did Joining Forces with Michelle Obama and now she leads it as FLOTUS. Biden has his own combat vet son, Beau, who died of brain cancer.

They really do not want to mess with President Biden on the subject of veterans. It won’t go well.

      • Oh come on. says:

Right? Biden was “too busy” to attend the coronation but spent a week having fun in Ireland the week before 😁

      • WithTheAmerican says:

@oh come on : lol exactly! The burn.

      • Blubb says:

Not to forget they are harassing US citizens, two of them toddlers. On the contrary, I would wish the US government would tell the king he has to stop or else…

      • WithTheAmerican says:

@Blubb I feel you on that but of course the U.S. probably won’t do that, especially right now. I’d love to see it though!

    • Rachel Sun says:

      💯

  13. Chloe says:

I do hope that charles understands that literally anyone can visit Commonwealth countries if it’s to help out with charity. I know so many that went volunteering in Africa or South America during a gap year

Exactly. Even his own sons did gap year projects in S. Africa (Harry, which led to Sentebale) and in S. America (William, which led to naff all, predictably).

  14. Lisa says:

People are starting to notice how petty Charles and his crew are. They are becoming more and more irrelevant! There is a change coming and it won’t be in the Royals favour! Oh by the way where are Kate and the Children?

  15. Lynwall says:

Sorry but maybe Quin doesn’t know that QEII had to twist some arms to get Charles to be head of the Commonwealth. It is not a given and I expect that he will have an even harder time next time.
So preventing commonwealth countries from inviting Harry and Meghan maybe a tad bit difficult.
Of course, that does not include the white countries in which he is interested, like Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

  16. Afken says:

Tom Quinn is everywhere now and talking absolute rubbish. Nigeria is a republic and in the commonwealth by CHOICE. Charles is not their king. He can stop the countries he is king of but not the others and even in doing so he will display his neo-colonialism.

Oh and Tom, Harry holds Meghan’s hand too but I guess that doesn’t fit your warped agenda. Cretin.

    • Oh come on. says:

I don’t think he can even stop countries he IS the king of. Canada just hosted H&M for an Invictus thing in Vancouver. He doesn’t have any political power over Canada whatsoever, and Meghan used to live here, so nfw is the Canadian govt going to somehow ban them from visiting.

      • Magdalena says:

Remember what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote on Twitter when their location on Vancouver Island was leaked? “Welcome to Harry, Meghan and Archie… *You are among friends, and are welcome here.*” He knew.

Charles does not stand a chance in his one-sided “battle”.

    • Sheri says:

A lot of the times It’s Harry reaching for Meghan’s hand.

    • Joanne says:

Charles holds no real power in Canada, he’s only symbolically king. The Canadian government don’t follow instructions from Charles. Harry and Meghan have always been welcome in Canada and the count Is on to 2025 Invictus Games. Charles can go kick rocks.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

Pretty sure there will easily be a line of Quebecois outside Rideau Hall waiting to tell Chuck to get f*cked.

  17. Lili says:

Well the commonweatlh are being petitioned to remove him from the head, so we are at a stalemate, lets see who blinks first. Besides your Mum lobbied to get you that job and now you are abusing your power Tut! tut Crex

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Lili, I wasn’t aware that the Commonwealth was being petitioned to remove KFC as it’s head. Now, that’s very interesting. I’ll start paying more attention to this.

    • wolfmamma says:

What a difference a monarch makes.
I had real hopes for Charles but these headlines and actions are not what I had in mind.

Live your best lives Harry and Meghan. Many will benefit

  18. aquarius64 says:

IG 25 is in Canada, a Commonwealth country. Charles is going to get that cancelled? Of all the stupid stunts to look like big shots. Charles is lifting Harry and Meghan into Diana status. And putting it in the paper.

    • goofpuff says:

I guess Charles is telling everyone that the UK does NOT want Invictus and to give it to DC.

    • rosa mwemaid says:

      Even he isn’t that stupid.

      • aftershocks says:

^^ I think @GoodPuff rightly means that C-Rex-III is saying this via his current reported actions. Not that he’s literally announcing he doesn’t want Invictus returning to the U.K. His actions, though, leaves nothing to our imaginations.

  19. MsIam says:

Btw Charles, the next Invictus Games is in a Commonwealth country, lol. Enjoy!

ETA Sorry, @aquarius64 your comment got in ahead of mine.

    • Midnight@theOasis says:

They’re all probably pissed that Commonwealth countries are more interested in hosting the Invictus Games rather than the Commonwealth Games😂

  20. Sue says:

His number one priority is trying to bully Commonwealth countries into not doing something no one, so far, has actually even asked them to do? Good for you, Charles. Nevermind having your number one priority be world peace or saving the environment or making sure children don’t go to bed hungry. Your legacy will be, um, being a bitter, bullying bastard?

    • paintybox says:

He’s not what I’d call sane if this is his top priority now. Take a look at his new official portrait and I think the artist captured his real state – he’s being consumed in the flames of his own petty jealousies.

  21. Amy Bee says:

Harry and Meghan don’t represent the UK so how is the Foreign Office going to get countries to stop these visits? Plus if this is true, then I guess the next IG will be in the US instead of the UK.

  22. Tina says:

This is why they go after any company or organization that works with Harry and Meghan. Its freaking vile. I’m glad that many are simply ignoring the noise.

Also the Uk is definitely not getting Invictus 2027 after the last week right? I’m going to be worried now til July but I don’t trust anything in the UK including the Board of Invictus. Sorry Uk Celebitchies.

    • Tina says:

Ok I’m back because this story might be what actually breaks me lol. Imagine telling a country that you brutally colonized and spent hundreds of years bleeding dry that you can’t work with an organization because you hate their Patron and his wife. Countries are tripping over themselves to host because it is now big that it gets global attention because its a heartwarming good news story, its patrons are global philanthropists who can’t walk down the street without getting covered and its small scaled enough that its easy for a location to host (unlike the Olympics or you know….the Commonwealth Games). Official royal tours bring nothing to a country as they aren’t covered except by the toxic British press. It ends up costing a country as they have to eat all the costs. This man truly thinks its 1724 not 2024. I hope we get an announcement soon of another country that is removing this loser as its head of state.

    • therese says:

I know. During all the coverage, I began saying to myself “I need to visit Nigeria”.

  23. Tuesday says:

That tourism boost is real. I was already interested in visiting Africa, but had no idea where. Nigeria just soared to the top of the list.

    • Joyful Liluri says:

I have so many friends who don’t follow the royals but know of – somewhat vaguely – Harry and Meghan. They don’t follow H&M or anything.

But the amount of texts I got this past weekend asking if we should plan a trip to Nigeria asap…. It says a lot. Nigeria is gonna have a huge tourist boom.

  24. OriginalMich says:

Fun fact: More than one of the countries Charles is allegedly trying to strongarm and lord over waged yeas-long struggles for independence. This spite-driven neo-colonialist bs is a poor choice.

Those Nigerian kings knew exactly what they were doing when they came together to welcome Meghan.

    • Is that so? says:

They knew exactly what they were doing.

They armed her against the BRF racistBS. PRINCESS Meghan, Ada Mazi, whether Harry is present or not.

      • Moniquep says:

I’m hoping ,really wishing that the Kings and or the Nigerian government would send some form of communication to the British government about the way the BM has been insulting their country. Demanding they back off or start something. Including laying off harassing a Princess of their realm.
        That would be awesome!!

  25. Jks says:

I’m sure commonwealth countries are well aware of how every country that welcomes Harry and Meghan, is insulted by the British press as dangerous, uncivilised and backwards dump.

Will Baldilocks dare step foot in Africa to compete with HM?

  26. swaz says:

GOOD LUCK, EVERY COMMONWEALTH COUNTRY WANTS OUT 🤣🤣🤣

    • Oh come on. says:

@ Swaz I wish every Commonwealth country wanted out! Sadly Canada lacks the will and backbone that Barbados, Jamaica, and so many other Caribbean and African countries have to send the colonizers packing.

      • Joanne says:

It’s not that Canada lacks will. The biggest problem is that treaties with First Nations were negotiated with the Crown. If Canada withdraws from the Commonwealth, each treaty would have to be renegotiated and there are many overlapping claims by First Nations. It would be a nightmare to figure out how to do it. It’s not a matter of backbone but of the logistics of starting over with First Nations.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Joanne, it sounds like someone should be talking to the First Nations about the treaties and where the overlaps are. It’s not something that would happen tomorrow, so there is plenty of time to actually start working together to figure it out. If it’s of importance, they would start this knowing it’s going to take years.

  27. Monica says:

It’s actually Harry who always reaches out to hold Meghan’s hand. He’s very protective of her (and rightly so, given all that’s constantly thrown at her in the scummy British media).

If Harry & Meghan are ‘private citizens’ aka ‘non-working royals’ – at least not working for the BRF – then they are free and entitled to go where the hell they like and visit who they like, and accept invitations from whomever invites them. And some of those commonwealth countries are not so keen on colonial old Britain any more and would like to break away. Charles isn’t QEII and doesn’t command the same respect – because he hasn’t earned it from those countries – so I suspect if push comes to shove, they’ll opt for the caring, energetic and charismatic couple rather than a dowdy old pair, workshy Willy or Kate Missington, or any of the rest of the dependants.

  28. goofpuff says:

So this tactic worked out so well for Charles with Diana (sarcasm) that he thinks he’ll try it a second time? He is a complete fool along with everyone who works for him in any capacity as an advisor.

    • Blithe says:

Yup. I was imagining a meeting where someone proposed this truly messed up strategy — and everyone in the room signed off on it:

      – “Well, we COULD up our game! “
      – “Nah”
      – “Or we could break all kinds of alliances and protocols by trying to force independent nations to refuse entry to Harry and Meghan — one of whom is not even a UK citizen. That way none of their sparkle or their support of a near universally acclaimed group like veterans with health issues renewing their warrior spirits through sports will rub off on us.”
      — “Yes!! That one!”

      Just: wow.

    • MelodyM says:

Hay Chuckles, don’t start nutin, won’t be nutin, lol.

  29. Jay says:

The next Invictus games are due to be held in Canada, another country which is part of the Commonwealth, so I can understand the urgency. However, trying to make Canada a pawn in his petty revenge games on his son has a high probability of backfiring.

I can’t speak for all Canadians of course, but I think generally the view of the Sussexes is quite positive, while opinions on Charles range from “ambivalent” to “disapproving”. The surest way to get more of the population to disapprove is to seem to dictate what Canada can and can’t do with their own guests!

    • Oh come on. says:

I kinda hope King Snubby tries. Maybe his efforts to tell our elected government what to do might backfire, and jump-start a rejection of the monarchy here?

A girl can dream, anyway …

      • Jay says:

It’s understandable that Charles might mistake our inertia and complacency for affection, but it’s not. In my own view, the more people think about the British monarchy, the less they want anything to do with it.

Charles should be careful what he wishes for – if he makes us choose sides, he may not like the results.

    • Oh come on. says:

@ Jay totally agree. Ime Canadians overwhelmingly dgaf about the monarchy. If they care about royals at all, I think there are more fans of M&H than of Big Lizzy. And no one likes Chucky.

I do think a lot of Gen X and older have muscle memory of the constitutional crises of the 1990s and have no desire to reopen that can of worms. Also, a Celebitchie above noted that all the First Nations treaties are with the Crown, so a Republic of Canada might have to renegotiate. And the First Nations would not do that unless they could negotiate a better deal than the promises the Crown made and broke, eg Land Back.

Still, if there were an anti-monarchist movement here, I would support it. There’s gotta be a better way.

  30. Chrissie T says:

This story has gone from Harry & Meghan to KC3 having a major temper tantrum and setting his reign alight. Two year olds have more self control

  31. Bluenoser says:

Charles is going a great job “leading” the Commonwealth. Hopefully he leads it to the complete dissolution of the Commonwealth:

Not sure if this link will work. Start at 3:23:

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2lmjf8vv1NI

  32. Ciotog says:

If this is really going to happen then Rishi Sunak needs to intervene and tell these idiots to knock it off. This could harm British financial interests in Africa, where China is already eating Europe’s lunch. Not that I think anyone should be exploiting Africa’s natural resources, but if Britain wants to keep trading partners in Africa they shouldn’t be interfering with Nigerian affairs in this way.

    • Joyful Liluri says:

China moving into nations that were decimated by colonialism for centuries with promises of aid in exchange for xyz breaks my heart.

Former colonies deserve restitution and the chance to stabilize and rebuild. Which they have not gotten. A huge reason that so many countries are dangerous for their citizens and visitors is due entirely to outside interference and colonialism.

  33. Lilly (with the double-L) says:

“Rebellious,” “wayward,”? We know you mean who you thought of as your slave got away. Playing up to their true RF audience, racists. But, I do have hope that people can learn, not these people from Windsor, but others, yes. I doubt it’ll work with many Commonwealth countries, though, and is likely to trigger Opposite Day. It really highlights that being a Commonwealth country is seen as an underling to the realm by the British establishment.

  34. aquarius64 says:

Charles and William, the royal stunt queens, are ruining the UK’s chances to get IG in 2027. Nigeria, a Commonwealth country, rolled out the red carpet for the Sussexes hoping to be able to bid to host IG. Other Commonwealth countries may want to bid. Remember Chuck, you are head of the Commonwealth by a vote. They may vote to sack you this October.

    • Joyful Liluri says:

I’m pretty sure that they were furious once they learned the UK had put a bid in to host the IG. As if Harry wasn’t theirs to boss around and demand things from as they saw fit.

They had to put in a bid???? To HIS organization??? The umbrage was too much for their over loaded and underused brains.

They set out to tank the bid.

Because if they don’t get it – it looks like Harry is being punitive to his fellow UK veterans and to the whole nation.

If they do get it- they will do every thing they can to wreck it. And blame the missing equipment shipments, the lack of accommodations for athletes etc etc etc on Harry.

It’s giving Trump during the pandemic vibes.

Think the Russian Olympics with a hand picked scapegoat.

    • Renae says:

Can they vote Harry or Princess Meghan head of Commonwealth?

  35. QuiteContrary says:

Quinn’s ravings are terrible, but I did LOL at this: “That’s why she always makes a point of holding Harry’s hand for the cameras, something she knows Willam (sic) and Kate would never do.”

Ask yourself why William and Kate never hold hands, dude — it’s not because of royal protocol. It’s because William loathes Kate (also, ask why William has disappeared Kate).

And it’s Harry who reaches for Meghan every chance he gets. That man adores his wife, the Nigerian princess.

I imagine that other Commonwealth countries now are clamoring for some of H&M’s magic and Charles’ ineffectual pettiness isn’t going to stop them.

    • lanne says:

Um…Charles and the ho-horse hold hands all the time.

    • Elizabeth Kerri Mahon says:

No, William and Kate rarely, if ever, hold hands. Kate spends her time trying to grab Huevo’s ass instead.

      • Joyful Liluri says:

        Don’t forget the “festive” glances!

The repression of all things in this family is a feature – not a bug. And it’s giving more repressed than Queen Victoria, who frequently wore gowns that showed her shoulders. (The horror!)

Those non existent festive glances – which always makes me think of accidentally catching a strangers eye during a walk about Christmas festival – are more repressed than using a fan to have a discussion with a man across the crowded room.

I don’t understand how continuing to claim that shows of physical affection and unity and support are gauche and classless are working on a generation of people that did drugs, protested nude, had orgies and key parties to the current generation that’s engaging in hook up culture and eating a$$.

How is being sexually repulsed by your spouse a desirable trait?

    • RoseFox says:

Let’s be fair we are quite reasonably wondering whether famously incandescent with rage is responsible for his wife’s disappearance.

      This is apples and oranges.

    • Tessa says:

At that polo match after Kate kissed William as she presented the trophy he bolted away fast.

  36. therese says:

What I wish is that Charles would be invited to go on a Commonwealth, African tour, and in every country given the official news that each country is leaving the Commonwealth, while it is televised. Oh yes, Cowmilla too. That graceful cow. Might as well complete the macabre optics.
These people never cease to amaze me. And I’m willing to bet Charles hasn’t stated his wishes to Harry: and that he is passive/aggressively going to other agents to air his grievances in his dysfunctional, circuitous way. Meghan is rebellious? Isn’t that what one says about a runaway slave? I mean, there wasn’t anything subtle about the way Nigeria embraced and put their protective arms around Meghan, and Harry. Go ahead, Charles, I want to see this.

  37. OliviaOne says:

Charlie may have the monies and the title.. what he doesn’t have is the gravitas and backroom wielding and dealing that Phillip had which was instilled in him by Mountbatten who was the last big royal puppeteer.

    • Joyful Liluri says:

Mountbatten was also a well known pedophile. The man raped children. ESP Irish children.

That needs to be said every single time his foul name is uttered or written.

  38. Chantale says:

I believe the royal family is going to hurt UK’s business dealings. I think it time for the tories minding businesses to step in. Their overseas companies might suffer. It is not going to end well. Between brexit and the banana republic monarchy things are looking dire. Arrogance will always be the end of all.

    • OliviaOne says:

These Tories give a funk and a toss about business. They only care to become part of the crusty establishment and dream about titles given to them by the firm and getting into the over bloated and overpaid lords

  39. Elizabeth Kerri Mahon says:

Given that the Invictus Winter Games are going to be in Canada, I can’t imagine that the Canadian government is going to tell the founder of the Invictus Games that he can’t come.

  40. Lady Digby says:

KC may be confident that David Beckham is at his beck and call but he does NOT own the Commonwealth and order them about. He needs to focus on his health and not imagine that he’s King Canute who can repel the tide!

  41. Kim says:

Yeah this would backfire on them spectacularly. If they make the commonwealth countries choose between the royal family and the Sussexes, it’s not going to go well for the royal family. Nigeria just made Meghan an actual princess.

  42. Daisy says:

I think the Nigeria Trip was done very well by Harry and Meghan.
One thing she is a great speaker and she can hold the audiences attention.
Think it’s all very sad the family cannot just get together around a table and talk about what went wrong..
Think Harry &Meghan do show when visiting a country that they are interested in the people they see…
There is jealousy from William and Kate towards Harry and Meghan… which is terrible .as they act so childish with the non speaking like in a school playground.

  43. therese says:

I’m so very touched by how close H&M are, including the hand and double hand-holding. It is so sweet. I always notice, as well, that Harry is ALWAYS looking at Meghan’s feet when they are going up or down stairs to make sure she is landing each step safely. He’s done this forever. She is precious to him. I feel by contrast that Charles doesn’t have any concept of appreciation for what is precious in this life: witness throwing away the love that a beautiful girl/then woman had for him. I feel that he only views people as how they may serve or impact him. That is so sad. And not at all inspirational like the Sussexes. No matter what anyone thinks about the Sussexes, their love story is inspirational.

    • QuiteContrary says:

In sharp contrast, Tom Cruise had to help Kate up the steps at that movie gala, because William just thoughtlessly walked ahead of her.

The writing has been on the wall for years with those two.

  44. Quara says:

I’m just waiting for Ireland to troll the BRF by hosting H&M, showing that leaving the commonwealth and not looking back is a great option.

  45. s808 says:

“King Charles is in a terrible bind – he would love to strip Meghan and Harry of their royal titles”

And when they keep doing their work without a hitch, then what?

“After Nigeria one thing is certain: huge efforts will go into changing the way the Royal Family deals with its role in the Commonwealth.”

So…..they don’t wanna do better because they owe it Commonwealth countries but to compete with H&M? Alrighty.

    • Tina says:

Its honestly so insulting. What have they done for the Commonwealth or with it since QEII passed? And haven’t William’s team been leaking that he has no interest in the Commonwealth. Oh but now its something like an Apache helicopter that belongs to Harry. Such losers.

      • MelodyM says:

Actually, H&M have become part of the CW communities they visit because they treat everyone like equals, and they are obviously happy to be there and to meet them all. So, if the CW belongs to Harry and Meghan, H&M belong to the CW. 🙂

      • esquire says:

In a figurative sense … all nations are sovereign.

  46. Alice B. Tokeless says:

My goodness, these people are aggressively stupid. So, after viewing the extraordinary warmth and genuine affection and respect Nigeria had for the Princess and Prince, the response is to attempt to strong-arm CW countries to snub the superstars. Do I have that right? A “subtle” campaign to ostracize the globally popular philanthropists from countries looted and colonized by the white relatives/in-laws? That’s the plan? Really?

And I’m sure we’ve but picoseconds for the belittling of Princess Meghan’s new royal status as “less than.” Oh, it’s coming, but how in the world can it be phrased not to seem to diminish African royalty while exalting the European royalty, BRF in particular? It can’t. However, if four Kings would leave their Kingdoms and travel to her to bestow the status of Daughter, then her title weighs the same as any other, in any country. Royalty is a manmade concept, but the African Kings can trace their ancestry back tens of thousands of years. The Germans can’t do the same. Hell, not even the Spencers go that far back. So who’s the real royalty here?

Henceforth, I will always use her title, as she’s earned it.

    • bisynaptic says:

      🎯

    • Magdalena says:

Thank you for stating this, I quite agree. I noticed that several news reports described the Kings as “tribal leaders”, “territorial leaders”, “regional leaders”, etc., anything to belittle and downgrade what is a significant honour and despite the explanations from actual Nigerians. They are recognised as kings in the country, and indeed, in many other countries. Queen Elizabeth bestowed the Sussex title and everyone uses it without question. FOUR legitimate kings left their kingdoms (I believe at least one of them is addressed by the English language style “His Majesty”) to meet and bestow the title of Princess upon Meghan and people are actively making the case, by their words and deeds, that only the titles granted by white royals matter, while pretending that this is not what they are doing. It has really been interesting, eye-opening, to witness.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

One of the things cheesing off the palaces and rota rats about that:

Queen Elizabeth II visited Nigeria in the 1950s.

The Kings did not come to her, she went to THEM.

The Kings came to Meghan. That was a diplomatic shot right through Buckingham and Whitehall.

Over and over the lesson is being taught to Cluck, from Tyler Perry to Nigeria’s oldest monarchies: “this couple you reviled is beloved *everywhere else*, and we are prepared to step up and protect them.”

  47. Hypocrisy says:

King Chuck is literally the monarch of an isle floating in 💩 metaphorically and literally. I hope these countries call them out publicly if they truly do this.

  48. Myeh says:

What an awful way to spend possibly your last year of life. I know cancer patients get a lot of leeway and sympathy but this idiot as a so called king is going to exhaust any and all built up goodwill by using the Ole white supremacy playbook and just doubling down on his cruelty for the world to see. What a waste of what he could’ve been and accomplished if he wasn’t such an out and proud racist a-hole, an absent and terrible father.

  49. MrsH says:

There is a cost of living crises in his country yet the “king”’s top priority is blocking the travel of a free, American citizen. I have no words to truly express the levels of disgust i feel. Abolish the Monarchy! Commonwealth countries fire these racist, petty pigs!

  50. CM says:

This is so despicable. So unkingly. Yuck. There is something really wrong with these people if they truly believe this is a good idea, or that it will work. This is why Spare had to be written. Truth will out.

  51. Kit says:

Yes, well given how poorly the British media, on behalf of Chuck and little Willy, treated Nigeria and its people with their rampant racism, condescension, and lack of respect, you can bet every Commonwealth country has taken note.

These are independent countries, not some conquered vassal states whose existences are to serve at the feet of the British crown.

These nations don’t exist as mere photo opportunities for the royals and talentless British royal propagandists to pen some imaginary greatness of British empire to the world.

Hopefully, the next government can rein in this fabulous fantasy of Chuck and company. And tell them to grow up and get to work serving the people instead of moping and hanging onto petty grudges. It’s frigging embarrassing.

  52. Kelsey says:

Okay, so let’s say “We’Re StRiPpInG yOuR tItLeSsS” really became a thing and the UK parliament managed to do that.

Okay…and? Sooooo when private citizens Prince & Princess Henry continue to travel (because stripped titles is different than “restricted passport) what you got to say then? Do they realize how dumb they sound? Like they’re really going to go “Ohhhhh we can’t travel to that country, it’s a member of the commonwealth and we don’t have titles” lmaooooo TF?!

I don’t know who takes worse L’s at this point: UK royals, UK media, or Drake.

    • Beverley says:

That’s a tough question. Normally I might say Drake, but the UK left-behind royals are giving that loser a run for his money.

    • bisynaptic says:

They’re no longer just Prince and Princess Henry: they’re Princess Meghan and Prince Harry.

  53. Lulu says:

Same old tune, the Sussexes only are invited because of their titles which I guess they have to say because they can’t admit H&M are superstars and IG has requests to host from many countries. If titles were the draw, every CW would invite the Wails. Except we see how that went. LOL, I’m sure William and Kate will not be seen in the Carribean again in their lifetimes.

  54. Laura D says:

Well good luck with that KCIII! A clip from his mouthpiece; Tom Bower has been all over Twitter saying he doesn’t like visiting the non-white countries in the Commonwealth because they lack culture! However, he say he didn’t mind visiting India and the white countries in the Commonwealth so, maybe theyll “comply.” If I were the head of a non-white Caribbean/African country I would be inviting Harry and Meghan just to spite him.

As for the crape about hand-holding. Did KCIII not see the pictures of Zara and Mike Tindal at the conanation? Where’s his melt-down over them? This really is a nonsense article because if KCIII has so much influence over the Commonwealth nations how come none of them are falling over themselves to host the Commonwealth Games?

  55. Lulu says:

I think many of the CW countries are currently working against Chuck due the racism thrown and Nigeria. Maybe they will oust him as Head of the Commonwealth.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

CHOGM: Commonwealth Heads of Government, have their meeting in Samoa this year. Cluck pledged to come after Huevo telegraphed his distaste for… well, work…

I am investing in popcorn futures because I’m sanguine they will drag him for filth, *at minimum*.

  56. Over it says:

Well let’s see, Barbados already quit that B . Jamaica fired pegs and buttons live on national television. And then a couple years later someone in the Jamaican media called them bitter , bitter bitter and told the truth that people just like Harry and Meghan more . Nigeria made Meghan a princess in her own right so i would say the chances of Charles the tampon king thinking he can bully black commonwealth countries are as deluded as him thinking anyone respects him or his neighing wife . I don’t know about the white ones like Canada, or Australia or néw Zealand, but I feel confident saying that the black ones are over Charles and his racist band of left behind asses . F chuck

  57. Brassy Rebel says:

Does this Bozo 🤡 actually think that H&M are invited by governments because they have royal titles? And does he really believe that Charles does not strip them of their titles because it would make him look vindictive? Everything he is doing and briefing now makes him look vindictive and super petty. Not to mention childish and surly. I can’t believe anyone wrote this horse 💩 with a straight face.

  58. Saucy&Sassy says:

I can’t decide if this is just Bower talking–and in the process making King Snubby look incredibly bad, or if this is really the ‘official’ talking point. Either way, why can’t someone see how damaging this is? I don’t know if it’s Bower and cohorts or if it’s King Snubby that is trying to again diminish the UK. I guess I’ll just say: Good job!

Nigeria made a very clear statement with the way H&M were treated and its hope for the IG in future. The four Kings made a power play that King Snubby could learn something from. Meghan is a real, genuine Royal Princess. That’s a fact. The UK better get over its trantrums and acknowledge and deal with that fact. Otherwise, the damage will probably not be fixable. The world is watching.

  59. Kit says:

This piece was penned with Charles’ blessing. It’s a bad piece not for all the pettiness and childish tantrum unbecoming of a king, but for the bad diplomacy involving the UK government and the Crown in its dealings with other nations.

Back channel isn’t meant to be used or exploited for personal gains. We know it happens. It’s belies the constitutional monarchy contract. If this piece (or even sentiment) is true, it’s a serious political move by Chuck for petty personal revenge and oversteps the constitutional checks and balances. Perhaps, given the Tory many years in power, that guardrail has bent and Charles is empowered to feel he can behave thusly.

Not a good outcome for British democracy. Perhaps that’s the point. Having a monarchy was always an anathema to democracy. In the UK, it’s clear, the monarchy was never comfortable with the idea of democracy. And power to the people. The monarchy wants its power back. One OBE and knighthood at a time.

  60. tamsin says:

Does any one remember C&C’s “royal tour” of Kenya? Who can forget the picture of Camilla sitting in the car, looking like a dog’s breakfast, while Charles did an event. I can’t remember what that event was, because details about it were completely overtaken by the picture of Camilla sitting in the car. The other recent royal tours to the Commonwealth are William and Kate’s and Sophie and Edward’s tours of the Caribbean and the stunning pictures of people behind fences, colonial cosplay, being fired on camera, presenting pictures of themselves (the prime minister’s expression was priceless) and of Edward saying he wasn’t really paying attention to what the prime minister was saying. Such disrespect, such gaucheness, such inattention to the realities of the twenty-first century and Britain’s place in it. On the other hand, Harry and Meghan came bearing support for Invictus and two Archewell collaborations, Giants o Africa and Geanco. They were welcomed because their presence was uplifting to charities and communities. They were showered with warmth and gifts, because they are warm, and came bearing gifts.

This article makes Charles look like a mean middle-schooler, plotting revenge in a little world of existing in his own head, bringing his family dysfunction and petty jealousy onto the world stage, asking entire countries to be “mean” to his son. Being a petty and vindictive husband and parent while being Camilla’s tampon will be part of his inescapable legacy.

  61. Mina_Esq says:

Well, Canada is already hosting, Australia is looking for an excuse to leave commonwealth, and most other CW countries have significant POC populations that see right through their racism. So this is basically the worst move Charles could make if he hopes to hold the commonwealth together, which means that he will probably take it. Only the worst moves for the BRF lol

  62. NotSoSocialB says:

    Oh, hahahahahahaha
You go ahead and do just that, chucklefk- see how much faster the commonwealth shrinks as more countries decide to become republics.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

  63. Bklne says:

So, inspiration struck again this morning: not exactly an addition to “Wiglet Christ Superstar”, the pieces have shifted around a bit, but I think it captures a little bit of what’s going on at Buckingham Palace …

    Lyrics:

🎼King Chuck the Turd, Prince William waits for you
The Fly, the Bee and Wasp are here for you

Chuck: 🎵Ah gentlemen, you know why we are here
We’ve not much time, and quite a problem here

    The Sussex Superstars!
    The Sussex Superstars!
    The Sussex Superstars!
    The Sussex Superstars!

William: 🎶Listen to that howling mob of blockheads in the street!
A pic or two with veterans, and the whole town’s on its feet

    They are dangerous!
    Haz and Megs! Superstars!
    They are dangerous!
Tell us that you’re who they say you are

🎶That man was in town last week to whip up some support
A rabble rousing mission that I think we must abort!

    They are dangerous!
    Haz and Megs! Superstars!
    They are dangerous!

🎵Look, Majesty, they’re right outside our yard
Quick Bee, Wasp, Fly, go call the Tower guard

    No, wait!
We need a more permanent solution to our problem

🎶What then to do about Harry and Meghan?
    Miracle partnership, heroes of fools
No royal protection, no Frogmore, no uniform!
Still, in all the photos they’re so f*€king cool!

🎶We dare not leave them to their own devices
Their devoted fans will get out of control
But how can we stop them?
    Their glamour increases
By leaps every moment; they’re top of the poll

    🎵I see bad things arising
The crowd crown him king; which Camilla would ban
I see the end of the Windsors,
Our elimination because of one man!
The end of the Windsors because of one man

🎵Because, because, because of one man
Our elimination because of one man!
Because, because, because of one, ’cause of one, ’cause of one man

🎶What then to do about this Sussex-mania?
And How do we deal with the crises of health?
Our greatest weapon is missing in action!
We’re losing our grip on the whole Commonwealth!

    🎶Fools, you have no perception!
The stakes we are gambling are frighteningly high!
    We must crush them completely
Like Diana before them, House Sussex must die
For the sake of my ego, House Sussex must die
Must die, must die, House Sussex must die!

🎵Like Diana before them, House Sussex must die!
Must die, must die, House Sussex must, Sussex must, Sussex must die!

(NB: they will NOT be successful. This musical will have a happy ending!)

Sorry, I found this a bit disturbing, especially the last line. You’re expressing what haters are probably thinking.

      • Bklne says:

@Tamsin: Yes, exactly. This is the antagonists’ song – it belongs to Chucky and a chorus of Derangers. It does end on a dark note – that’s why I included the parenthetical. I promise it isn’t expressing MY feelings! Apologies if that wasn’t clear. In this imaginary Broadway / West End smash hit musical the heroes – the Sussexes – will triumph in the end.

  64. Ana Maria says:

…even if King Charles successfully bans H&M from visiting other Commowealth countries, H&M will go on to other countries, thriving, being happy and free

  65. EasternViolet says:

I can’t believe Charles he thinks is has any actual power to prevent a country to invite whoever the Hell they want, when they want. Its so colonialist I can’t believe its even fit to print.

  66. Kathaela says:

I’d like to see him try and succeed

  67. Lau says:

If only the countries part of the Commonwealth had a king who would actually care enough to visit them.

  68. B says:

LMAO Charles’ OWN government is bidding to host the next Invictus games. He doesn’t even have enough power to keep the Invictus Games out of the UK but he thinks he can lean on other nations?

How hilariously deluded. What will they say next? He’s going to review IG contracts?

  69. Dora says:

So, basically. Charles is jealous Meghan and Harry were so well accepted in a country william and Kate weren’t , and it’s making them all look bad so instead of saying looking, let’s look at the half in out thing even if it’s only the commonwealth countries. But he’s too petty and mean spirited. He needs to punish Harry for leaving and for saying the woman that destroyed his mother life tried to destroy his. Charles over estimates how powerful he really is.;every time he does this it makes him look petty it’s not a good look for a man who is supposedly fighting cancer but feels good enough to snub , gaslight and try and humiliate him son that dared to marry a non white women then tke her away when they abused her.

  70. CherBear says:

Quinn is writing foolishness. He and the bunch of them are hopelessly in denial. What they fail to understand is that the Commonwealth – mostly composed of black and brown skinned people – have watched; heard and monitored the racism and hatred KC, William and the British press, have displayed time and time and unrepentant time again towards Meghan and by extension , Harry. Why did the Caribbean tour fail so abominably? I am a Jamaican/Belizean and I can tell you, KC better watch it. It is one thing to remove the monarchy as one ‘s head of state as they intend to do in Jamaica, Belize and other Caribbean countries where several have already done so. It is another to dump the Commonwealth – and it can and will happen if this racism and hatred is not stopped..AND APOLOGIES NEED TO BE GIVEN. We the countries of the Caribbean want APOLOGIES AND REPARATION FOR SLAVERY. So, the monarchy is already of very thin ice. Nigeria is much aware and that is why they honored Meghan so abundantly.

    • Kit says:

Racism is an ongoing problem that British Media, even its more liberal press, has a hard time acknowledging and accepting responsibility for perpetuating it. Many of the white writers, even in the Guardian, just don’t get it. They never will because they don’t have to worry about proving they are British and have a right to exist. Being black or brown in Britain means you and your credentials are always questioned. Similarly, if you don’t have the poshness or the money to buy your way into acceptance, you are left behind.

For Charles and his Tampax Queen, little Willy and his MIA Princess consort, their racism is in the way they used black and brown people as props. The minute a country like Nigeria has power and agency, it’s a threat to the BRF, and out come the British media determined to remind black and brown people of what they owe to the British Empire.

Look this played into the UK xenophobia which has a strong political grip in the country and why Brexit is the status quo. Charles and little Willy know this. British media barons know this. Politicians know this. I laughed when the British media loves to throw shade at Americans for having Trump, but in truth if Trump and his clan weren’t so tacky and obviously corrupt, these Oxbridge trained and royal blessed writers/courtiers would happily embrace the wannabe dictator. The predominately right wing Media and the ecosystem that supports it are in line with Trump and his MAGA supporters’ message. They oppose real democracy, and its checks and balances. They particularly hate rule of law and will support laws that gut the democratic process. The Tories have passed such laws BTW. This is why monarchy is in sync with these anti-democratic actions. It’s why Charles can accept millions from dubious foreign entities without accountability. They all want the bags of cash.

That’s why Meghan can never be a royal. Nor can her children. They are of the wrong sort to these people. Their presence makes racists uncomfortable because they are equal, and if anything, they have higher stature. Of course, UK demographics is changing, but it’ll take several generations to undo such built in systemic racism. The royals can’t apologize sincerely so don’t expect them to go beyond exploiting black and brown faces for photo ops.

    • bisynaptic says:

…or, they can simply kick the UK out of the Commonwealth. 😂

  71. Amy T says:

Is Charles being advised by the same person who told Kristi Noem that the Cricket sequence in her book would be a good call?

It’s the only explanation I can imagine for this level of ignorant arrogance.

  72. KT says:

Just want to remind everyone that there’s no qualifications required to be a ‘royal expert’: they do and can just make shit up.

I doubt very much anyone at The Palace would be stupid enough to try and interfere with countries inviting private philanthropists for a visit. They’d get told where to go, and the Commonwealth only exists because members want it to.

    • Sue says:

I agree that a lot of the crap being spewed by so called royal experts is probably not coming from Charles or his courtiers. That said he is in a position to push back and go on the record to officially, once and for all, end this ridiculous pretense that he has any authority in this area.

Had he wanted to he could have attended the Invictus ceremony and he certainly could come out and say how proud he was of the way Harry and Meghan were received in Nigeria. Nothing stops him from doing that.

That he has never publicly praised, defended or supported Harry or Meghan tells me that these stories aren’t all made up out of whole cloth. There is truth there. Which is pathetic.

    • Kit says:

I disagree. Charles is selfish enough to let his propagandists run wild.

These royals are so thin skinned, they absolutely don’t want anyone to rule the Commonwealth nations except them as long as the Commonwealth benefits them. (Once the Commonwealth gig gets tiresome, they’ll dump it.) That’s why QE2 pressured the Commonwealth nations to make Charles its head. Many countries wanted one of their own to be the head. Not another royal.

The stuff these writers put out is propaganda and has a purpose. It’s pointed with targets in sight. None of this is coincidental and let’s not pretend it’s some kind of unsanctioned works by royal reporters.

So let’s put to rest this idea that the royals don’t have a hand in these stupid shenanigans involving the government. The royals scrambled to rope in MoD when it needs a quickie photo ops for Chuck and little Willy in front of troops. They make use of the Mets and other governmental departments all the time. They butt in parliamentary work by crafting bills that exempt the royals from all kinds of laws and regulations. The royals use their royal authority to benefit themselves. Not the country nor its people. Trump has nothing on these people.

      • KT says:

Don’t get sucked info conspiracy theories. Of course a lot of this stuff is coincidental. It’s a a bunch of people publishing click-bait because they have page view targets to hit.

The Palace only have a certain amount of influence over major outlets – they are not planting every story the self-proclaimed ‘experts’ pull out of their backsides. There’s way too many of them and way too many internet-outlets for them to organise that.

It’s like horoscopes – you churn out enough stuff and some of it will seem to be true enough even when it is made up entirely.

      • Kit says:

@KT, These royals have power to control the press. That’s not conspiracy theory speaking. It’s a fact. Where else do you see such unified slanted coverage? Maybe Russia, Saudi Arabia, and CCP. Where else do you get multiple days of wall to wall coverage of a ridiculously expensive OTT coronation in the midst of a recession? People were fed up and wanted their telly back since they can’t afford the royal celebratory quiche.

There are ample proofs of the royals demanding parliamentary compliance to pass laws with exemptions benefiting the royals. Other people would be sued, thrown in jail or would pay a fine for doing the things these royals are allowed to get away with. They don’t even have to pay taxes. It’s voluntary and nowhere it’s at a tax rate that it should be. They don’t have to respond to a sex trafficking criminal investigation. Or a traffic accident that injured people. The really dirty stuff gets hushed.

So British media is very much complicit. Otherwise CB wouldn’t have so much meat to chew on.

      • Kit says:

@KT, Show me where’s the “conspiracy theory” in what I stated?

      • GTWiecz says:

Kit, I really appreciate your contribution here. Very clear and sensible writing.

  73. Just Chelle says:

It’s astonishing that Charles and Huevo (and their handlers) don’t understand that showing kindness toward and even expressing admiration for the work Harry and Megan are doing, is a sure-fire way to demonstrate leadership.

Their insipid pettiness and constant changing of their reasons for said pettiness, is definitely *not* the way to inspire confidence or gain respect.

More and more, they seem to be operating from trump’s playbook. Sad!

  74. QuiteContrary says:

It doesn’t matter if Charles takes Meghan’s duchess title. She’s now Princess Meghan, Ada Mazi.

    • Sue says:

If he ever went there she’d be officially Princess Henry in terms of British royalty. She might prefer not to use it, but she would be entitled to do so and there’s not a damn thing Daddy Dearest could do about it.

  75. kris says:

Charles’s jealousy and pettiness towards Harry make it obvious that he did have a hand in killing Diana. If he is like this to his son, imagine all that he has done to a woman he couldn’t stand.

  76. Elisa says:

King Charles might be jealous but it sounds like they are starting to admit the truth i.e. William is equally responsable in the situation!

  78. NikkiK says:

More than likely the Commonwealth won’t even be around in 25 years. This just shows how stupid and unnecessary Royal families are in modern society. Not society at all. They really bring no be fit to society and just serve as a reminder of the ridiculous of bestowing importance upon people based on their ancestry.

  79. bisynaptic says:

These people are seriously bonkers. THIS is Charles’s first priority as monarch of the UK and head of the Commonwealth?

    • bisynaptic says:

And why on earth would Charles want any of this to get out? It makes him look so bad!

    • bisynaptic says:

Just based on this, alone, I predict that the Sussexx will become unofficial ambassadors to the Commonwealth of Nations.

      • Kit says:

I hope not. Commonwealth was QE2’s baby. It’s a leftover vestige of the British Empire and it’s hard to shake that part of its creation off. It’d be smarter for the Sussexes to stay out of the Commonwealth fracas. You can tell, neither Chuck and little Willy are eager to do the work to sustain it or modernize it to shed its empire ghosts. It doesn’t get much funding either and the royals certainly aren’t willing to fund anything here. They’ll happily take and take of course.

So better for Harry and Meghan to focus on their projects. Stay away from this minefield.

      • bisynaptic says:

@Kit, I should clarify: I mean that I see many Commonwealth countries’ inviting the Sussexes to visit; and I see the Sussexes’ obliging. This will all be done without the imprimatur of BRF or UK sanction—and will, in fact, drive the them batty.

  80. DetachedObserver says:

This is late in the comment queue, so doubt anyone would see it – but for those who recall the Nostradamus prediction:

“King of the Isles driven out by force… replaced by one who will have no mark of a king.”

There’s a UK psychic named Helen Jacobs who put out a podcast in early May titled “True Predictions for the British Royal Family.” It’s an interesting 19 minutes. She says:

–In October something will occur that changes how the British monarchy works, something also possibly related to Charles’ health.
–She sees William as ambivalent about becoming King and perhaps declining to accept the full duties of king, which would make George an underage king
–She doesn’t see Kate anywhere in the picture
–She thinks Harry might come back as regent to George.

  81. JB says:

Maybe Meghan holds her husband’s hand BECAUSE SHE ACTUALLY LIKES HIM

    • CB says:

I agree with that statement. But I also think that Harry wants to know her location at all times on these tours, in case there any trouble. It’s a protective thing. It’s like my man always walk on the side walk near the road, he also holds my hand in a crowded area, sit facing the restaurant door. So like Harry, he doesn’t want anything to happen to me, his wife and mother of his children.

  82. JB says:

    Also:

“On the other hand, he has to find a way to put a stop to any future trips by Harry and Meghan to other commonwealth countries. That has now become his number one priority.”

Has to? Why “has to”? That’s the problem with these silly royals: they create a problem that never existed and then spend energy that could be put to better use, (such as maybe working to improve the country?) trying to solve it. Why must a father stop his son and son’s wife from taking successful trips to countries of which the father is nominally the head?

  83. CB says:

I guess the Invictus Games will be in Washington DC.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

  84. AC says:

Someone should tell C that the Brits don’t have an empire anymore. Even the state of California has a larger economy than them.
