T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are engaged, three years after their cheating scandal

It’s been almost three years since Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes blew up their lives and careers thanks to their affair. Since then, they’ve been hustling to maintain their status as newscasters and to stay relevant. They have two podcasts, their weekly flagship pod, “Amy & T.J.” and a daily news podcast called “Morning Run.” They’re also doing a weekly relationship advice column for Yahoo, where they dole out some solid advice.

A big part of T.J. and Amy’s public persona has been talking about their personal life. We’ve heard about their drinking habits, their “emotional affair,” how they can’t stand to be apart, and more. There’s also been a long-running “Will we or won’t we?” story arc involving their hesitation to get engaged. Well, it’s happening, y’all! Amy and T.J. are finally engaged. They announced the news on this week’s episode of “Amy & T.J.” They’ve actually been engaged for a month.

“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged,” Amy said on the Oct. 14 episode of their Amy & T.J. podcast. “We’ve been engaged for just about a month now.”

And T.J. joked that they were announcing the news on their podcast so it could be on their terms—a privilege they weren’t afforded when their romance was first made public back in 2022, when they were photographed packing on the PDA during a New York outing.

“We wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to,” he quipped. “We’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship.”

However, that doesn’t mean the couple have been hiding.

“I was in three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row, wearing my engagement ring very proudly, very excitedly, and kept waiting for somebody to point it out or ask me, ‘Hey, what’s that?’” Amy shared. “And it never happened.”

And while the duo promised to share details about how T.J. popped the question, they said they were currently just “celebrating with family.”

I’m dying of laughter that no one noticed Amy’s engagement ring for weeks. She speculated that people were “just being polite,” but, in the words of Gob Bluth, “Come on!” After years of pulling stunts like wearing a big, blingin’ rock on her left ring finger or telling random stories about how her mom thought they were engaged because they were wearing Oura rings, people either didn’t want a “fool me twice” situation or they just didn’t GAF. I went through Amy’s Instagram and in all of her recent pictures, including ones from a Georgia Bulldogs game, her left hand is not visible! As of Wednesday evening, I couldn’t find a picture of her ring anywhere online. Amy, girl, we have tolerated the PR stunts for two+ years. You better give us a picture of that rock.

Anyway, congrats to Amy and T.J. I wonder how long of an engagement they’ll have and whether or not they’ll document their wedding planning process via their podcasts. I’m actually not that surprised that they kept their engagement quiet for a month. I’ve long speculated that they would just quietly elope, and I still stand by this. I think they’ll have a ceremony with just their kids and a People photographer as their witnesses, and we’ll get months of content about it.

Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig have moved in together and made their red carpet debut as a couple. I’m happy for them.
