Sarah Ferguson is still missing as her daughters are being scapegoated

Last week, one of the royal offices fed a particularly gross story to Becky English at the Daily Mail. A well-placed “royal insider” bitterly complained about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s planned April trip to Australia, and specifically complained about Meghan headlining a “girls’ weekend” retreat in Sydney. The insider sniffed that Meghan is “basically Fergie” now. While the insider came across as typically incandescent and stupid, I found that quote to be particularly insidious given the timeline. The timeline being… Sarah Ferguson has been in the wind for months now, and since her ex-husband’s arrest, absolutely no one has any idea where Sarah is. Instead of headline after headline about Sarah’s (bombshell) emails to Jeffrey Epstein or the mystery over her whereabouts, the British media made sure that every single story (for days) about Sarah involved that dumb quote. Well, this weekend, People Magazine at least tried to remind everyone that Sarah is still missing.

Sarah Ferguson’s whereabouts remain unknown following the arrest of her ex-husband, the former Prince Andrew, even as her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, retain their palace homes — raising questions about where the former Duchess of York will live when she returns to the U.K.

Ferguson, 66, has not been seen in public since December 2025, when she attended the christening of her granddaughter, Princess Beatrice’s now-1-year-old daughter Athena, and is believed to be abroad as her ex-husband’s dramatic fall from grace takes another turn. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, also 66, was arrested on Feb. 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office and as of late January, PEOPLE understood that the former Duchess of York planned to spend time overseas as she mulled her next moves.

Ferguson has reportedly spent time at wellness centers in Switzerland and Ireland in recent months. The Daily Mail previously reported that she checked into Paracelsus Recovery, a Swiss rehabilitation clinic, from just after Christmas until the end of January. In February, the outlet reported that she jetted to Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa, a remote wellness retreat in Donegal, Ireland, returning to the coast she previously praised as a refuge in a 2024 TikTok.

While both Andrew and Ferguson have been forced out of their longtime home at Royal Lodge — with Andrew now living on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk and Ferguson believed to have been house hunting in Windsor — their daughters still hold the keys to royal residences of their own. Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, are not full-time working royals and pursue private careers, but they retain homes at royal palaces in London. Tech executive Beatrice has an apartment at St. James’s Palace, while Eugenie, an art gallery director, has Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace.

The royal residences serve as second homes for the princesses, who are primarily based elsewhere. Andrew is widely reported to have pushed for his daughters to retain the properties, which they rent through a private arrangement with King Charles.

“The [rental] deal was made with their father as he wanted them to have a foothold in the royal palaces,” a source told The Times in the U.K. about the arrangement. The Times further reported that while Andrew “was initially responsible for covering his daughters’ rent, it is not clear if they are now responsible for covering their own costs.” The costs of the rent for each residence also remain unclear.

As I said last week, I’m not going to argue that Beatrice and Eugenie need to be included everywhere or that they need to keep their royal homes, especially when both women have other, non-royal homes. It is what it is, and the sooner B&E come to terms with their new reality, the better. Still, several things are crazy to me: in their mother’s absence, B&E are absolutely being thrown under the bus by the monarchy/institution Their uncle, King Charles, would happily draw this out for months if it meant that people would stop asking HIM what he knew and when about Andrew’s dealings with Jeffrey Epstein. Prince William is simply a hateful person who wants to alienate as much of his family as possible. Two, it’s more than possible that if Charles continues to renege on his “deal” with Prince Andrew, Andrew might be the one to start talking about what Charles knew and when. This is all a house of cards for the monarchy and I don’t know how much longer they can continue to scapegoat B&E. Also: where the f–k is Fergie?? It’s crazy that no one can find her and/or the British media isn’t devoting any energy to looking for her. They’re all too busy doing the palace’s dirty work.

  1. Yes where in the world is Fergie lol! I suppose she is probably continuing with her wellness spa hopping. She must see that her daughters are being thrown under the bus but she continues to hide.

    • Harla says:

Both parents have left their daughters out to dry.

    • DouchesOfCambridge says:

Why doesn’t Fergie take the waileses strategy and send a fake Fergie for all to see and hope everybody shuts ups on her whereabouts . That’s what they did with lazy Kate. Or maybe she was too lazy to go out herself that time

    • Adventure says:

Isn’t Fergie hiding out at Kirstie Alley’s house in the US right now? There was a quick blurb about it in the restaurant gossip blogs, but it was taken down before I could screenshot it.

    • Emm1 says:

      Some mother she is!

What a contemptible and despicable woman, leaving her daughters undefended while she protects her own lardy arse.

  2. Maja says:

A patriarchal, misogynistic and right-wing press will always protect the parents (bosses, the aristocracy, white people, men, the old systems that perpetuate all this injustice…) and condemn the ‘disobedience’, the blame for all conflicts and harm, and the ‘rebellion’ of the adult children.

    • Maja says:

Ferguson should be tracked down and questioned internationally. She was a very close friend of Epstein’s. If Mrs Clinton, who has nothing to do with Epstein, is being publicly questioned, how much more so should this apply to Ferguson. She is certainly also a victim of the Windsors, but she has been part of the system for decades and had close links to a human trafficker and sex offender. She is certainly also a victim of misogyny and classism, but she is also a beneficiary of the entire network surrounding Epstein.

  3. Harla says:

Well, it’s so time consuming to churn out article after article slamming Meghan, that journalists just don’t have the time to do actual reporting. I saw recently that since the release of the Epstein files, negative articles about Meghan has risen by 70%. I can’t think of any other person who receives so much unwarranted criticism, I really don’t know how she copes, she’s a much stronger person than I. Lastly, does the author of that witty quote hope to win a Pulitzer? *wonders sarcastically*

    • Brassy Rebel says:

Yes, the York sisters are not the only ones being scapegoated.

    • BeanieBean says:

I agree. Can you imagine how much money that one photographer will make who finally photographs Fergie, wherever she is? Like the guy who got the ‘money shot’ of Andrew leaving the police station? Why aren’t any of those dumbo reporters (and I use the term ‘reporters’ generously) actively seeking Sarah?

  4. Hypocrisy says:

She and her ex are both evil and both horrible parents who created an illusion that they were wonderful and loving co-parents for decades, no parent who loves their children would allow them to be publicly vilified for their parents crimes.. Fergie running away while AMW hides still protected by his brother and the royal security during all of this says everything..

    • Christine says:

Yeah, I really hope Beatrice and Eugenie are paying attention to which members of their family are supporting them.

  5. Amy Bee says:

I’m sure if the British press wanted to find Fergie they would. There doesn’t seem much interest in finding out where she is. I’m not encouraging the press to look for her but this is press that has no qualms sending out reporters to Montecito to stalk Harry and Meghan.

    • Chica says:

William needs to stay out of it. He keeps poking a dangerous bear- Fergie. She knows stuff and Andrew does, too. If not, William might find his business on the front pages of the same papers when Andrew throws Charles under the bus. Andrew has a lifetime of dirt on Charles and Sarah knows too- marriage and post marriage. There are no clean hands. William needs to stay out of grown folks business

      • Mac says:

Fergie is a terrible person, but she also knows how to survive in a lion’s den. She’ll do whatever it takes to keep on keeping on.

  6. Mightymolly says:

The chance that Andrew might talk, might go cornered animal and start naming names is everything here. Just one person needs to break the code of silence and it will all domino. Here’s hoping!

  7. Talie says:

The campaign against Beatrice and Eugenie is absolutely ruthless and relentless. I almost can’t believe how harsh it’s been. They were literally ensconced in the family at Christmas and now they are OUT.

    • Christine says:

It still pales in comparison to what was done to Harry and Meghan. They still have their homes, despite all the wailing that Frogmore Cottage had to be taken away from Harry and Meghan because they weren’t “working royals” anymore. It was their wedding gift from QEII. These two are being told to completely withdraw from public life, but they’ve still got their homes, so it’s basically all lip service, per usual.

  8. Eurydice says:

With the resources of the intelligence community, I’m sure BP and the UK government know exactly where Sarah is.

    • Brassy Rebel says:

Excellent point. The British establishment evidently wants Ferguson in the wind as they try to save the monarchy. They may be financing her global spa hopping.

    • BeanieBean says:

Yeah, they’ll no doubt have her passport number & know exactly what country she’s in. It’s the press that doesn’t know where she is; she’s not missing, she’s in hiding. Big difference.

  9. abritdebbie says:

If Beatrice and Eugenie are clever this is the safest way they can leave the royal family. Being kicked out rather than leaving means that William won’t hold it against them. They will be free.

    • Mightymolly says:

Are they clever, though? But yeah someone in their sphere should explain that to them. Maybe even pay off could be negotiated?

      • JT says:

If I were B&E I would start singing like a canary. I would not allow the palace to scapegoat me, while everyone in that damn family has secrets of their own. The press are going after B&E as if they were the ones trafficking women with Epstein. I would start tea like I have nothing else to lose.

      • mightymolly says:

@JT – I 100% agree with you, but they also know how scary this family is about disappearing inconvenient people. They can probably do better by taking payoffs to just go away.

I agree with the posters who think BP is probably funding Fergie’s absence. She can be bought cheap, that’s no secret.

Can you imagine if ANY ONE of these people decided to do the right thing and spill tea like it’s revolutionary Boston?

      • BeanieBean says:

Yep, @JT. Each should get a lawyer–not Harbottle & Whozis, the Windsor family firm, but somebody else–make statements about everything they know, send that to the… well, in ordinary circumstances I’d say FBI but we don’t live in ordinary circumstances, so maybe send it to Reps. Massie & Khanna for their investigation.

  10. Cathy says:

Where is Sarah? If the British media can’t find her now was she ever in either spa? Was that just a red herring to entertain the masses while they waited for more Epstein files to be produced? Consider that the tabloids do like to go after a woman, like a pack of hounds after a fox? There’s a vibe coming off from the likes of Eden, Morgan, Wooten etc that they want to see how far they can push someone until it’s too far? Thinking of Caroline Flack here. I’m hoping that Sarah is somewhere with lawyers compiling what she knows about the Epstein organization.

I don’t agree with everything Beatrice and Eugenie have done but think that they have 2 very forceful parents who were mostly interested in their own agenda and it would be hard to say no to either?

    • Gail says:

Could be another red herring, along the lines of ‘where’s Kate’ a couple of years ago. She has become a very inconvenient woman, so is maybe stashed on one of the extraordinarily many properties they control. Let’s face it, someone has to house her as I imagine she’s incapable of housing herself. Even finding a job as a behind the counter server is hard right now. Restaurants aren’t hiring. So many stores turning to self-checkout. It’s hard to find a job now for someone who knows how to work. I imagine it’s virtually impossible for someone who has no understanding of the word, surrounded by rings and rings of people who also have no concept of self-support. It’s a dilemma for them, no question. She is kryptonite to the Royal Family and must be contained somehow. They have other, more sinister options that I don’t even want to think about, but so many deaths surround that clan, in my mind it isn’t inconceivable. So for now, I expect the BaRF have her stashed somewhere. Kate went what, 4 months sight unseen? Maybe more? I consider this a plausible explanation for Sarah’s disappearance.

  11. therese says:

Where is Sarah? Why, she is up in the mountains somewhere ensconced in comfort and writing. At least I wish she was. I hope one of them is. I actually don’t know if Andrew is angry at Charles, because I think Charles bent over backwards protecting, paying for and taking care of Andrew. Until things became public, and he kept having to do things to protect the image. I don’t think William gave a damn about anything until it touched him, then he got noisy about it. Charles extended himself to Andrew because he was faithful to the firm. Didn’t matter what he did, as long as Charles wasn’t touched. Actually, I don’t think the girls would turn against their mom; Sarah is probably tucked away with one of them, hiding and strategizing. I think she is too wily to spill secrets.

  12. Gabby says:

Strange how the BTM has the resources to send their, eh….heh – “reporters”, to stalk the grounds of Montecito, but they can’t send people to look for Fergie.

  13. QuiteContrary says:

Fergie should be sitting at a table spilling the beans to a police interrogator.

  14. Henny Penny says:

I’ve never cared much for Fergie one way or the other. A girl’s got to make a living. But now that I see how she and Andrew thought and the company they kept, I can’t help but think these two would traffic two princesses to the highest bidder on a heartbeat. I’m not saying the York girls are innocent exactly, but they didn’t initiate their involvement with that world, their father and their mother did that while everybody else in the family, including their own grandmother, knew about it.
