Margaret Qualley’s rep denied the speculation about ‘trust issues, infidelity’

Everybody’s got some speculation about Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley’s split. Married for just shy of three years, many believed they were solid, if not a multi-hyphenate power couple. Then the rumors started circulating several months ago and everything hit a fever pitch around Margaret’s absence from Taylor Swift’s wedding. Some say that Margaret was cheating. Some speculate that Jack was cheating. Some say he’s controlling and there were age-gap issues. Us Weekly said that Qualley initiated the separation because of “busy schedules” and “trust issues.”. Us Weekly’s sources also said that “At some point, the rose-colored glasses came off for Margaret, and she felt she needed to take a step back.” Well, on the heels of all of this speculative gossip, Qualley’s rep issued a full-on statement about everything:

Margaret Qualley’s team is speaking out on her split from Jack Antonoff. On Friday, July 10, a rep for Qualley released a statement acknowledging their recent separation after nearly three years of marriage.

“The narratives running in the press about Margaret and Jack are categorically untrue. There are no trust issues. There was no infidelity or anything outside of respect and partnership in this relationship,” Qualley’s rep said in the statement obtained by PEOPLE.

The statement continued: “They have deep love and care for one another. There are only two people in this marriage, and the sources who are talking to the press and commenting on their relationship are not people who know them. Please respect their privacy.”

A rep for Antonoff did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Gossip, like nature, abhors a vacuum. I mean, she has every right to come out and deny the stories and shut down the speculation about infidelity and trust issues and what have you. But people are going to keep trying to figure out what happened, you know? Plus, a lot of us have gossip radars and those radars are pinging like crazy. *Something* happened, clearly. And why is Jack’s side staying silent? Or IS his side staying silent? Hm.

  1. Sue says:

I think Margaret just wants to move forward and not let her personal life evolve into a dramatic story in the news cycle.

  2. Jferber says:

However she wants to play it is fine with me. Her story, her life.

  3. Lucy says:

I can buy there’s not trust issues, or infidelity, I guess, but to sell it with they have a deep love and care for each other, while divorcing after less than 3 years is a little too far. It makes the whole statement suspect. Something happened. Just say you got the ick from reading Lena Dunhams book, we’ll believe you, and move on 😂
