Olivia Munn & Aaron Rodgers have broken up after three years

88th Annual Academy Awards - Red Carpet Arrivals

Olivia Munn and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers got together in 2014, back when Olivia’s face hadn’t changed so dramatically from “potatoes.” I actually thought they were a really weird couple from the start but I never thought that they would end up dating for nearly three years. Here we are though – they lived together, they faced down tons of drama together, and now they’re done.

Olivia Munn and Aaron Rodgers have split.

“They have amicably ended their relationship of three years,” a source close to the situation confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. The source says the couple “remains close friends and wish nothing but the best for each other moving forward.”

The actress, 36, and Green Bay Packers quarterback, 33, began dating at the end of 2014. Munn and Rodgers’ breakup comes two months after the couple fueled engagement rumors in January when she was spotted wearing a diamond sparkler on her left-hand ring finger. Throughout their romance, Munn had often supported and cheered on Rodgers’ NFL career. And while the athlete rarely addressed his relationship in public, he did defend her after it was speculated that she contributed to his strained relationship with his father and younger brother Jordan, who competed on JoJo Fletcher’s season of the Bachelorette.

“Olivia doesn’t really have anything to do with it,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “This is not her issue; this is the Rodgers family issue. Aaron has never wanted want to air this out in a public forum. He will deal with his family issues privately.”

[From People]

Yes, they apparently dealt with a lot of sh-t from his family and Olivia absolutely got “blamed” for the Rodgers’ family estrangement. I can buy that his family was iffy on Olivia and that she was part of the reason for the estrangement, but I always thought there was a lot of other stuff going on too. Which is probably one of the reasons why Olivia and Aaron are breaking up now – he has some stuff he needs to work on. Maybe she does too. In any case, they made it a lot longer than I thought they would, so let’s count that as a win.

I honestly wonder what role extensive plastic surgery plays in breakups like these. When one partner has their original face and the other can barely move it, surely that has to take a toll on commutation? Physical attraction?

    • jinni says:

I was thinking he was tired of her new “Japanese purple potato” ( still side eye that explanation for her new face) face too. But then again it could have just been that being with him was no longer giving her the attention level she needs and she wants to get with a bigger media persona to elevate her own standing in the public/media.

Either way I never thought they were a real relationship.

      • Jessica says:

Exactly. Three years with the guy and she still isn’t a star. Hopefully this means she will never become one. And many of us never believed the “relationship”.

    • Redgrl says:

Yeah, her new face is awful.

    • kibbles says:

It’s the combination of extreme weight loss and plastic surgery that really mess up so many female celebrities’ faces. One thing Jennifer Aniston got right is to know when to stop with the Botox and fillers and gain a bit of weight as she aged to make her face fill out naturally.

  2. MeeMow says:

I’m bummed about this. I liked them together. She seemed to help him show his goofy side. They seemed like a fun couple.

    • Erinn says:

I’m weirdly bummed about it and I don’t really care about either of them. But because of all the family drama, I guess I got a tiny bit invested in them as a couple after all.

  3. Ashley Nate says:

All that shit talking regarding the family was all in vain I guess. Not like I believed that pr relationship #Aaronisgay

  4. Bridget says:

I also wonder how much professional frustration fits in there.

    • Esmom says:

      Hers or his? Or both?

    • Kitten says:

      Professional frustration or sexual frustration?

      • Bridget says:

I know the rumors (like, the detailed, whole picture rumors) and I feel incredibly uncomfortable speculating like that. I think that either way you slices it he has big issues with his family; the Pack made it far last year but we hear about infighting and discontent; and Munn is an actress and i hear that the opportunities aren’t big for acting in Green Bay.

  5. ellieohara says:

    He is gay.

    • HeidiM says:

IKR? I thought everyone figured this was a contract relationship to give him a straight image.

      • Wellsie says:

I often wonder what the beard does in a long term contract. Do you date someone secretly? Three years is a long time to not go out to dinner with your real man/men. SEEms like a drag. Or do you just bang someone casually? Or…. go celibate?! Ugh, terrible.

  6. Div says:

Some sports blogger apparently said the rumor was that the brother stole from Aaron (after being kind of a leech for years) and he finally had enough of it….but his parents blamed Olivia & Aaron instead of the brother. I can imagine there was a lot of drama though…his family is super right wing/hardcore Christians apparently and he is pro gay rights. Not to mention apparently she exposed his brother as a cheater because he cheated on a good friend of Olivia’s before he went on reality TV (and I can understand outing someone as a cheater tbh in certain situations).

    • Bridget says:

It’s a really big deal to cut off family the way Aaron did, and I just have such a hard time believing that t would be over something as mild as “they don’t like Olivia”. And he cut them off HARD. Like, didn’t even go to his grandfather’s funeral.

      • Div says:

        @Bridget

Agree. I also suspect it’s more on his family, since they are the ones who ran to the press and blabbed his personal business on a reality tv show.. The younger brother had one brief job and basically rides off Aaron’s coattails….So I’m kind of Team Aaron right now.

  7. QQ says:

I Have so Many Snarky thoughts, none of them is going to win me any awards today but also I find them too boring to go on in about contracts, surgery, attention and such the like but… the bore me ( also I look at him throught slits cause he looks like a guy I used to sans ropas with which was amazing in the sack but otherwise a massive F*ck up

    • GingerCrunch says:

I’d say that last little bit was darn good QQ commentary!
p.s. would love a QQ dictionary to elevate my vocabulary 😉

      • antipodean says:

QQ, you are a constant education to me. You just made me look up ‘Sans Ropas”, and I was directed to a charming site called “the rantings of a creole princess”. She sounded like some-one who I would love to have as a friend, and who knows whereof she speaks. I should add, I am not in any way a creeper, I just love your entertaining elucidations on many and various subjects…… you School, me, you might say. Rock on!

    • mia girl says:

      “Sans ropa” LOVE THIS.
I am totally stealing this Spanglish euphemism from you QQ!

  8. Birdie says:

Oh please, that hanger-on “friend” that he had a fall-out with and that rumor spread. No one knows if he is gay. I once saw a youtube clip of AR before he was drafted and that one blonde Victoria Secret model was interviewing him and he was so damn flirty, he even lowkey asked her out. Well if he is, that’s his thing, but I actually believe he’s straight.

  9. Valois says:

As long as she stays away from my beloved Boyd Holbrook during the film they’re doing together, I will continue to not care about her one way or the other.

    • KB says:

      Boyd is so hot

      • Valois says:

He is! He reminds me of Garrett Hedlund, only that I’m afraid that what I suspect to be Garrett’s view on politics are a huge turn-off while Boyd seems rather smart and aware.

  10. Tiffany says:

Three years seems like the right time frame for talking about the future. Olivia could have asked where this is going and Aaron said to men.

  11. k37744 says:

    They’re both so gorgeous.

    and boring.

Would do. Especially in a suit. Holy mackerel.

    • Wellsie says:

Co-sign. Espesh the pic of them with her in the white dress. That’s a lot of gorgeous.

    • Esmom says:

I agree that they are both so good looking. I was kinda rooting for them, oh well.

  12. Singtress says:

She is actually super-quick witted and funny.
Very smart person. Except where her relationships and careeer mix, it seems.

  13. Green Is Good says:

I wonder how much money Aaron had to pay Olivia to get the hell out.

  14. Rocio says:

    Japanese potatoes!!!

  15. smh says:

Real or fake I liked them together

  16. RuddyZooKeeper says:

Wait, he’s only 33? Geez, my age radar needs a tune up.

  17. Loo says:

Why do people always assume gay or straight when bisexuality exists?

  18. KC says:

She looks like what Megan Fox might look like if she’d quit messing with her face just before she went overboard and started to look messed up. Olivia, Megan and that Heidi chick look so different post-surgery I only recognize their new faces.

  19. Who says says:

He lives half the year in Greenbay Wisconsin and she spends a lot of time in Hollywood California. Somebody was going to have to give up something eventually.

  20. BobaFelty says:

I wanted them to marry so I could call them Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.

  21. deevia says:

If the aim of getting her face done to look fully caucasian then I guess I still see hints of the Asian facial structure.
