Princess Beatrice is ‘completely head over heels’ in love with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

The Portrait Gala 2019

I’ve been increasingly suspicious about People Magazine’s recent exclusives on the York princesses, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie. They’ve been out and about during the British social season, with Trooping the Colour, Royal Ascot and tons of high-profile events in London. But that’s not anything new – Beatrice and Eugenie attend those events every year. Why the flurry of gossip around the princesses? Why are we being told that they’ve had a hard time dealing with the criticism about their jobs, their weight, their style? Why are we, like, comparing their childhoods to Prince William and Harry’s childhoods? It’s strange. But maybe it’s because People Magazine is doing some advanced hype for when Beatrice eventually announces her engagement to that guy she’s been dating for less than a year, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

It may not be long before another royal wedding is announced, this time with Princess Beatrice as the princess bride! The Queen’s granddaughter, 30, served as maid of honor to sister Princess Eugenie when she tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank in October. Soon after, Beatrice was stepping out with a new love of her own: 34-year-old multi-millionaire property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

“She’s completely head over heels,” an insider says of Princess Beatrice’s feelings for her boyfriend in this week’s issue of PEOPLE.

Edoardo is a friend of Beatrice’s family, a source previously told PEOPLE, and they have known each other for years — however, the relationship didn’t turn romantic until recently. The pair made their first public appearance in March, hitting the red carpet together for an elegant gala event at the National Portrait Gallery. Since then, they’ve been spotted everywhere from New York City to Bahrain.

[From People]

Beatrice split from Dave Clark in 2016, after a decade together, a decade in which he never proposed and she really wanted to marry him. Then he got married last year and honestly, I really felt for Beatrice. This thing with Edoardo feels like she’s just desperate to settle down and be with someone, but maybe I’m being unfair to both of them – I hope they really care about each other, and I hope he’s not scared off by all of this proposal pressure after less than a year of dating. So, is that what all of the York gossip is about these days? They’re hyping Beatrice and another royal wedding? Or is it something else?

Wait, these are all separate stories? I thought People just did one big story on the Yorks and we were just discussing it in pieces.

Huh. The onslaught seems….odd. I feel like something is coming but what? Maybe a pregnancy announcement from Eugenie, or the wedding announcement from Beatrice? (and these articles are to keep their names out there, so when the announcement comes, people don’t go, “who?”)

    • jennifer says:

right, why all of a sudden and why so many stories?!

      • Lorelei says:

I think Kaiser is right and People is trying to generate excitement around Beatrice in the hopes that the public will care about another royal wedding. They had a big year with H&M’s wedding and then the baby, so they probably just want to try and continue that so they can keep making $$. But I don’t think the interest in Beatrice is really there. I like her, but the York sisters will never be anywhere near as popular as Diana’s boys, at least not with the People magazine crowd.

Is he really that rich? I mean he is way more good looking than her. He looks out of her league unless it’s compensated by smth

    • alice says:

“I mean he is way more good looking than her…”

      *Thor voice* Is he though?

    • MrsBanjo says:

@LANA86 Ew, your comment is disgusting.

      • aenflex says:

It’s completely natural for people to assume something’s amiss when they see a very conventionally attractive person coupling up with someone who isn’t. A sexy 25 year old dating a 68 year old rich guy? Or a sexy 25 year old dating a 65 year old rich lady? Parallels can be drawn here. She’s unfortunate looking. Doesn’t mean she’s a bad person, or holds no value, it’s just a fact. Many of us are.

We have not yet evolved past our evolutionary traits.

    • Blue Orange says:

@lana86 Wow, well that’d very much a matter of opinion.

    • maisiei says:

Marriages between European royalty, the aristocracy and the very wealthy are still usually not “love matches” in the conventional American sense (except for Harry & Meghan). They’re to improve one’s social and economic standing, or because they’re “overdue” (Charles, Edward, Albert of Monaco, Beatrice) or because the line must be continued (ie grandchildren). By these standards, Beatrice and Edoardo are very well matched.

  3. TheOriginalMia says:

As far as the hype, I think that’s Fergie and Andy not wanting their daughters to be overshadowed or forgotten. I do think Beatrice is happy. She waited awhile to get back into the dating game. Dave strung her along, then dumped her and got a wife/baby within 6 months of their breakup. Bea was hurt. Edoardo and his family are also friends of the Yorks. They’ve probably spent more time together than we actually know. I think the tabs are desperate to see another royal wedding and are hedging their bets because rumor on the street is they are living together at St James Palace. No word on where his son lives, but he had physical custody while Wolfie’s mother was working as a photographer.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I do feel for B but she has a terrible picker, rumour is there was cross over with the ex and his now wife. He used her for her connections and I get the same vibe from this guy, there is something about him (not to mention the rumour that he dumped the mother of his child to get with B).

Eugenie made a great choice, I get nothing but good vibes from Jack.

      • Fluffy Princess says:

I agree @Digital Unicorn, Bea has a terrible picker–but look who her father is. He’s not a very good role model for being upstanding and a quality man. Both of her parents are grifters of the first order, and let’s face it, many of the men in the royal family are not good examples of what a nice man is.

Plus, the tell tale sign for me is his family is friends with/have known the Yorks for years? Birds of a feather–grifters, users, manipulators always find each other. Look at who our ogre of a president surrounds himself with–people just like him.

I wish Bea the best and maybe he’s not cut from the same cloth, but I’m not getting good vibes.

The Yorks can drop stories how Bea and “Genie” have had a more solid upbringing, but both William and Harry picked good women to be married to. Yes, Kate is lazy and dresses like the Queens granny, and Meghan’s close family are all trashy nightmares, but both Kate and Meghan are nice women overall.

      • olive says:

eugenie made the better choice simply for choosing a man who doesn’t already have an ex and a young child under his belt. they can just focus on each other as newlyweds and not deal with the type of drama that will inevitably follow if beatrice and this guy do indeed get engaged.

      • TheOriginalMia says:

Dave was a user. Ugh. Anyway, as far as the new guy and his ex there are too many contradicting stories from the ex and her father for me to know the truth of that relationship. I hope he isn’t a user and manipulator and truth is, I’ve seen nothing to say he is.

      • Tourmaline says:

@Fluffy Princess – I love your point of the red flag that his family has been friends with the Yorks for years—that’s NOT really a good thing given the people that the Yorks generally consort with!!!

Jack seems like a solid and unflashy guy, despite his job working for Casamigos, but this guy just seems too slick by far.

Also my theory is this publicity drive is somehow traced back to Fergie. I get the vibe that Fergie was disappointed that Eugenie’s engagement and wedding did not get the attention she felt it merited. For one thing I’m sure Fergie perceives that the engagement was overshadowed by Meghan and Harry’s engagement that came before and then the wedding, the same overshadowing, plus the stories of Meghan’s pregnancy that came out right after the wedding.

So now Beatrice is the last chance at a “Princess Bride” scenario for the Yorks and I’m sure they (Fergie and maybe Andrew–I don’t get the feeling the girls themselves are ultra attention hungry) want to really tee it up and then milk it for all they can…

      • duchesschicana says:

i dont see what wrong dateing a man with a child? Dara is very often away in Hong kong on buissness so Edo has wolfe most of the time and they seem like on good terms

There is conflicting stories with Dara, heck in one article her own mother doesnt exactly trust what she says , id say the truth is they probably were already broken up when he got with bea. lets be honest a headline that says a princess stole my man will sell more compared to a princess is dating my ex

      • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

Olive, this guy DOES have an ex… and a child. He left them when his son was 3 mos. old to take up with Bea. He is just as shady in his motives as Dave Clark: he’s a user…big time.

      • Kylie says:

        @duchesschicana

It is not that he has a child, it is that he is believed to have cheated on his ex with Bea and then dumped her to be with Bea because he saw the chance to upgrade.

    • duchesschicana says:

@TheOG Wolfe was not three months old when they broke up. When ‘Dara’s family’ realsed photos he was already walking and playing on cell phones.

and there are too many conflicting stories of when they broke up to say for certain. i will say this a story that says a princess stole my man vs a princesss is dating my ex will sell more

  4. Kim says:

I definitely felt bad for her after the whole Dave Clark thing.
I don’t trust this guy though. He was married and had a toddler when he jumped ship for the now single Beatrice.

    • Elizabeth says:

He was engaged to one woman and had the baby with a second woman. I don’t trust this guy. At all.

      • Giddy says:

Yikes! Sounds like he’s a bit of an alley cat. (no offense to alley cats) 🐈🐈🐈

      • duchesschicana says:

he was never engaged there would have been papper trails the society papers would have announced any marriage/or engangement like when his sister was married or engaged it was annonced in the papers

i dont see whats so bad about dating a guy with a child? He seems ok. bea is 30 and dating it would be impossible to find someone without a history

      • Nic919 says:

Any guy with a young child has a lot of baggage because unless he is a dead beat dad he will have to interact with the mother a fair bit. Add in the break up and the obvious famewhore vibes and there is a messy situation.

And it’s not the Victorian era so there are plenty of guys in their thirties without a young baby and mother they just dumped.

  5. Enough S Enough says:

Wasn’t he with another woman when he suddenly was introduced as Bea’s Squeeze?

  6. Citresse says:

I wish them well but i think it will end in tears.
Also, the CB photo of Bea in the blue dress…she looks really good there!

  7. MaryContrary says:

He’s run in her circles for years-their parents are friends. He is a total bounder-marriage (and then tears) are inevitable.

  8. Robinda says:

He’s a mistake. It might take a while, but his general sketchiness is not a short term issue.

  9. minx says:

    He seems completely shady.

  10. Lululu says:

I think KP wanted to draw attention from the royal foundation split this week. I also kind of think it worked.

  11. Other Renee says:

I don’t see what the problem is. He’s clearly as trustworthy and loyal as Miranda Lambert’s new man toy… I mean husband. What could possibly go wrong?

  12. Chica71 says:

They both seem thirsty for different things from each other. Not good.

  13. Athyrmose says:

The blinds are saying that she, or Kate Swarzznager (sorry), are unexpectedly pregnant. Perhaps it’s the princess after all.

    • Becks1 says:

Huh. Interesting. How big a scandal would that be in the UK this day and age?

      • Skylark says:

It would probably be Meghan’s fault. 😉

Joking apart, this guy reeks of dodginess and it all has a bit of an air of last chance desperation about it. Which is sad for Bea who seems really nice albeit a bit aimless and gormless. I hope this ‘head-over-heels’ fades and she takes a step back and away from her awful parents’ circle of greedy self-servers.

  14. Molly says:

Well, someone of that generation is due for a spectacular breakup and very messy divorce, and these two seems like the most likely candidates.

  15. Lowrider says:

meh, two adults are into each and want to get married.

  16. Wellsie says:

Didn’t read the post (I will, of course) but do these have to two have to stock up on eye drops or what? OMG, take it easy with the open eyes.

  17. celialarson12 says:

The above comments are hilarious. Poor Mozzi. On another note, I think Beatrice would make a very nice Queen. She seems so dignified. She would also look stunning with right clothes. She has beautiful skin, nice hair and she is quite slim although one does not realise this because of the clothes she wears. F.eks. Why was she dressed like the mother of the bride at Eugenie`s wedding? It cannot be that hard to find girlish clothes.

    • minx says:

B and E are young, they need to dress young—in clothes that fit.

    • JanetDR says:

She looks good in the header photo -it seems that she knows how to dress for more casual events.

  18. Suzieq359 says:

I think Andrew us jealous of all the attention Charles kids have received and is hyping his girls up. Maybe part of it is related to an impending engagement but Andrew has never liked playing second fiddle to Charles or his kids. After his one daughter’s wedding got hijacked by Archie’s news they are probably even more determined to get attention fir the Tork girls. Plus his daughter managed to get a US deal for her wedding so they are eyeing another. Plus they know Meghan is going to People ao they figured why not us, too

  19. Flying fish says:

Slow your roll Bea, slow your roll.

  20. oddly says:

You only have to look at his history to know what type of person he is…….Bea is being used again.

  21. Camille says:

Maybe this is all part of laying the groundwork for when Prince Phillip dies probably soonish and Fergie and Andrew want to remarry.

  22. Maria says:

The guy seems very creepy to me. I really hope Bea doesn’t get hurt again. She is still young, but all those weddings/babies are getting to her.
