Sam Altman is one of the AI people. He’s the CEO of OpenAI, which launched ChatGPT four years ago. He’s already a billionaire. He recently made headlines for saying that parents could and should use AI to help them raise their children. Well, you know how AI companies have been lobbying (and perhaps paying) Hollywood stars to say nice things about AI? It looks like Gwyneth Paltrow was lobbied and/or paid too. According to Puck News, Gwyneth is hosting a private dinner for Sam Altman at her Hamptons home. Puck even published the invitation.
I guess summers in the Hamptons just aren’t complete these days without sucking up to our new A.I. overlords.
Luckily, Gwyneth Paltrow has you covered. Invites are going out this week for a “private, off-the-record al fresco dinner at her home in honor of Sam Altman.” Yeah…
Is this expert-level tastemaker-ingratiation stunt the handiwork of Charles Porch, the former Instagram celebrity whisperer who recently took his talents to OpenAI as its V.P. of global creative partnerships? Sure seems so, but at least the Goop stationery is pleasant enough to relieve some of that urge to vomit. I wonder if they used A.I. to make it…
The invitation is wild, and given the Goop email address, I would assume that Gwyneth is getting into bed with Altman at a business level. Which is bizarre, because Goop is such a personal venture for her – AI cannot recreate Gwyneth’s goat-milk cleanses, nor will AI be able to personally recommend jade eggs for one’s bajingo. AI cannot administer an IV in Gwyneth’s arm when she’s too rich to swallow vitamins. AI cannot create disordered eating from whole cloth. I would assume, as Puck notes, that this is all part of OpenAI’s move to get celebrity endorsers and that Gwyneth is absolutely being paid.

Her home? Isn’t she married? Sounds like her hubby has or wants nothing to do with this.
He’s just a Goop accessory. But this feels more like Goop business event. Not a party for friends and family.
Probably. I remember her saying a few months back that her husband was more left wing and “idealistic” than she was. She talked about him “wanting to help everybody” like she thought he was a fool.
when you send an invitation you rarely list your spouse unless they are hosting as well, particularly a business invitation, it would imply Brad was part of this business deal.
This may also be a home Gwyneth owns herself and not a joint property. I think she did own a Hampton’s place well before the marriage. They also had separate homes in L.A. for a long time..
The important question is: What’s up with Altman’s eyebrows?
@cws
Oh, come on—none of the guests are going to go digging through documents to check whose name is on the deed to the house 🤣
It makes absolutely no difference. Nor does it matter if it happens to be a business-related event. It’s being held in their private home; Patrow has a husband, so the natural and obvious way to word the invitation is to list both hosts. If Patrow had rented a venue—like a house or a function room—for the occasion, she could have just listed herself.
When a reception is hosted by one spouse in their own home, it calls for both of them to be named, and both of them welcome the guests.
Unless, of course, Patrow plans to get rid of her husband for the duration of the party…
@kasztanka: No, both homeowners/spouses are not required to be listed, check Emily Post.
m
An example: Invitations to a bridal shower, you write something like “Mrs. X invites you to celebrate…” “…at the home of Mrs. X”
And why would guests need to check home ownership when… a homeowner knows it for themselves?
She bought her Amagansett house with Chris. Everyone knows the address FFS.
cws
As I mentioned, the guests aren’t concerned with the legal ownership status of the spouses’ property—that is a private matter; they are hosting a party at home, so they act as a host couple and welcome guests together. That is the standard practice.
If the gathering is professional in nature, that aspect is reflected in the organization of the event itself—for instance, preparing a study or another room for business discussions (if any are planned), while the other spouse entertains the rest of the guests.
The bachelorette party example is wide of the mark; that is a personal celebration, so the individual hosts it themselves.
In this case, we are dealing with a private party held at home to honor a guest. Regardless of which spouse is closer to the guest, the hosts issue the invitation together.
If their parents lived there, they too would need to be listed and would join in welcoming the guests. A party of this kind is like an invitation to the family table; omitting one of the hosts would be disrespectful.
You are kind of assuming that the husband is even going to be there for the dinner party. If he’s not going to be there it would be weird to pretend he’s hosting too, and let’s not pretend that he HAS to be there because it’s at one of their homes. Paltrow is part of a generation and social circle for whom the idea of requiring both spouses to be involved in hosting anything at their small mansion in the Hamptons would be laughable. She would call you regressive and probably anti-woman for suggesting it, and then recommend a $157 pack of stickers to ‘raise your vibrational frequency’ and ‘lift you out of that toxic mindset’. And probably some gummy supplements for improving your sleep.
More to the point, this isn’t a private event in the sense that it is PERSONAL. The invitation calls it “private” but it also calls it “off-the-record”, which means it is business-related. In crazy rich people lingo private and off-the-record means “business talk that is probably illegal and will DEFINITELY cause a scandal so let’s not leave a paper trail or risk someone overhearing at a restaurant”.
Also, the invitation tells the invitee to RSVP to a business e-mail, events @ goop .com. Gwyneth Paltrow is EXACTLY the kind of Crazy rich American who would have a separate events RSVP e-mail for personal events ONLY and who would lose her shit over her PA accidentally putting the personal events RSVP e-mail on a business invitation or the business events RSVP e-mail on a personal invitation.
I think Gwyneth had suggested their Montecito home is their joint property, but they also have separate domiciles for convenience.
For a year after their marriage, they still had separate residences. It was because they thought merging their children’s lives would take time and so he had his children, on the days he had custody, at his home, etc. She has now stated that looking back she regrets doing that and they should have combined households and created a family unit of all of them together as she is now close to her stepchildren. So they only had two households for about a year before he and his family all moved into Gwyneth’s home.
If we’re really going to invoke Emily Post it would be “ Mrs Brad Whatever-the hell- his name is”.
I think we can rightly surmise that E Post would have nothing to do with this shameless money-grab!
It’s funny, the italicized font of her name is always how I hear her name in my head. The fact that her name is also a larger typeface just comes across as smug. Which I get is her vibe but I just find her obnoxious across the board.
You’re absolutely right. Her hubby obviously doesn’t want to be part of this, or she doesn’t want him to be, so he’s not on the list. Using the goop email implies this is at least partly a business venture. (I wonder if she can write it off then?)
Looking up home records has nothing to do with your comment. You merely noted she may have her own home where it’s being held.
Wow, he’s trouble but again she’s showing who she really is
When are they switching on Cern so the timeline can switch again. i understand why a lot of celebs are keeping their mouths closed because we are living in strange times. Has critical thinking left the building, common goop girl think before you jump.
She’s trash and always has been.
Heh. It’s private and off the record, which is why we’re getting a shot of the invite.
Yep.
I was always in awe that her father presumably had so much money. Then they said her mother comes from money. I think it was all a lie and gwen fooled everyone. She made start bets but she isnt doing these things for joy. She needs a lot of money for bills.
According to Henry Gates Jr Blythe Danner descended from European housekeepers living in Barbados
I find it ironic that Gwyneth blasts these “rich white tech dudes” on her IG but invites them to her home to celebrate them
Gwyneth is not friend shaped, as the youth says. That woman is about her money and image only
Those were some of Blythe’s ancestors, she had others. That said, doesn’t mean those other relatives were more fancy.
And Blythe’s parents could have had lots of money regardless of their background, money is hard to come by but it ain’t particular 😉
Gwyneth kept saying her mother was Main Line Philadelphian (like Grace Kelly?)
I’m just reporting her claim, not really making an observation about it.
Whatever the truth is, it seems she doesn’t have as much money as I thought she did or she has a difficult mortgage….
For me that was one of the most interesting take aways from the Gwyneth book. Her mother Blythe Danner, was motivated by creating art. She coyld have been a movie star, but ahe was an artiat, playing Shakespear festivals every summer. Gwyneth has always been motivated by money. Maybe some by fame, but acting was a means to an end for her.
Agreed.
Whether it’s controversial ads or dodgy sponsorships, Gwyneth is moving like someone who owes back taxes.
If Brad, her hubby, is smart he’s keeping their finances separate. He’s a writer and Ryan Murphy’s producing partner.
I always wondered how much money Bruce Paltrow made because his/their New York brownstone was spectacular. If I saw the correct owner photos, their interior design was on point
Wasn’t she recently complaining about the billionaires?
Recession indicator?
It must be. I would think has more than enough money already. Something ain’t right in her finances…
First Reece, now Gwyneth… next.
Gwyneth has shown in recent months what an absolute capitalist ghoul she is, who will do anything for the paycheck so…this tracks. And don’t let her husband fool you. He is absolutely the same.
Ole Gweni is such a ghoul. That man has also been accused by his younger sister of sexually assaulting her for years and I believe her.
I’m surprised, because I didn’t think he went that way.
kasztanka:
I answered your point above in two posts. ClearBrad isn’t a host. And this is also clearly a business invitation held at the business owners home.
When I have received work or business invitations to a colleague or business owners home, the male spouse is not listed as a host and he’s usually absent with his own work.
Kendra Scott sends her own invitations and doesn’t list her current husband as a host – and she doesn’t list it as “their” home as it’s hers
Sam’s sister has accused him of horrifically abusing her. Would never want him in my home.
She is just an awful person who continues to get worse. I once read an article comparing her to Trump (because of all of her lies related to her bogus wellness products and how her fans don’t care about her lies) and she is becoming almost as big a grifter as he is.
Is it wrong to say she now has the face she deserves? Hypothetically.
I despise this woman! That is all I have to say.
She must be such a genuinely awful person, otherwise how could she so proudly host in her home this execrable man? One day, everyone will view his collaborators the same way we now look at those who hosted dinners for Epstein or visited him on the island.
so like an MLM for the very rich. but instead of your cousin Rhonda selling Tupperware, it is some dude with ra*e allegations trying to destroy the environment while eliminating your job.
Gwennie bounces from grift to grift. People assume because of her background that she is a liberal democrat who cozies up to that element of the Hollywood elite. She has no true character and follows the money, money, money and can never have enough $$$$$. She has shown who she actually is cozying up to ai/tech billionaires, using goop to promote fringe nut fruitcakery and gleefully taking appearance fee money from evil folk. Given the allegations Sam’s sister has made against him and the horrifying statements he has made about his intentions with ai tech, he shouldn’t be welcome in anyone’s home. The uber wealthy get their wealth because they have no morals or character. Eat the rich.
well said
She’s like an old timey snake oil salesman
That’s Paltrow for you.
For years, she benefited immensely from her association with Weinstein, but once he was completely disgraced, she suddenly claimed he had harassed her too—simply because he had suggested dinner or an outing. Weinstein himself addressed her words, laughing and saying she must be crazy; he had invited her, she declined, and that was the end of it. He added, “We were on good terms; you cared a lot about the relationship—especially when we were campaigning for your Oscar—back then it was fine and I was a friend.”
I know Weinstein is a pig and a sex addict, but right now my focus isn’t on him—it’s on Paltrow. She stayed close to him because it served her interests; when the tide turned, she cast herself as a victim—which she wasn’t—to extricate herself from that close association and their shared business dealings. Weinstein wasn’t the type of man known as a sweetheart who only turned abusive behind closed doors.
He would drool at the sight of anything that moved; many women had trouble with him, and everyone knew it.. Paltrow didn’t care about those other women; she stuck with him for profit.
She was never a good actress, and I suspect that without Weinstein—who bribed anyone and everyone—she never would have won an Oscar. Now that Weinstein has no power left, Paltrow can join the ranks of his victims, badmouth him, and look for a new source of profit. Why shouldn’t that be Sam?
Still a killer body, but her face, yikes, getting a little scary.
I agree that she’s slim, but looking at the whole package, she never had a killer body. Short legs, a poor bust, and a sunken chest. Maybe the last two were down to her posture—I don’t know—but it was never a killer figure. Now she’s had work done on her bust and straightened out her back and shoulders, so it’s definitely better. It’s just a shame she’s butchered her face like that (not to mention her daughter’s lips). Unfortunately, her nasty personality hasn’t changed. You can’t fix that with surgery.
Sorry, but what’s “a poor bust”? Do you mean she had small breasts?
Is anyone with money a good person?
I have always never liked GP who rubs me raw… woof
Her face looks different again, but I don’t care about her or anything she does because I’m so frigging angry about Trump running this country by “royal” command.
Hard times at goop?
