Heather Mills’ divorce settlement is reportedly $50 million plus (update)

If you are a woman who is lucky or conniving enough to snare a billionaire, the key to ensuring your future wealth is to get knocked up as soon as possible. Heather Mills married billionaire musician and widower Sir Paul McCartney, who is reported to be worth £825 million, $1.65 billion USD, in June, 2002. Their daughter Beatrice was born in October, 2003. In May, 2006 they announced their official separation. Reports put Heather Mills’ lump sum divorce settlement at £25 million, or $50 million USD, an amount that was determined by the judge and is expected to be officially announced on Monday.

That makes around $17,000 a day for every day Mills was with McCartney. She will also receive a “maintenance” payment, or child support, every year until Beatrice is 18. The exact amount Mills will receive in child support may be kept private by the courts, but it could be £1.5 a year, or $3 million USD, which would bring her final settlement up to around $93 million USD.

Heather Mills is to receive a divorce settlement of up to £46million from Sir Paul McCartney.

The former model will get an immediate lump sum payment of £25million from the ex-Beatle.

But she has told friends she also hopes to be given maintenance of up to £1.5million a year as the main carer of the couple’s four-year-old daughter, Beatrice, until the girl turns 18.

Since it is directly related to Beatrice however, the maintenance figure may never be made public in the settlement handed down by High Court judge Mr Justice Bennett.

Miss Mills, 40, had been fighting for £2.5million a year from 65-year-old Sir Paul to cover such costs as security for her and her daughter.

But she is understood to be expecting much less in the final agreement, which is also linked to a confidentiality clause.

Mr Justice Bennett is yet to officially tell either party his decision on the level of any annual payment – if indeed any is given.

Details of the settlement were reportedly contained in a preliminary High Court judgment sent to the estranged couple and their legal advisers this week.

The official verdict will be handed down on Monday, bringing an end to one of the most costly and acrimonious divorce battles in British history. Legal bills alone could be as high as £10million.

The judge sent each team of lawyers his preliminary judgment on the lump sum this week under strict orders not to reveal the contents.

Neither party is likely to object to the basic details being divulged.

A source said: “On an analysis of the case law, Mills was always going to receive around £25million. I think it’s fair to say the judge has not erred from that.

[From The Daily Mail]

We’ll have to see on Monday if this is true, as the Daily Mail has been incorrect with previous scoops on the Mills-McCartney divorce.

If this story is accurate, the woman that quickly became one of England’s most hated will be walking away with about 3% of her ex husband’s net worth along with substantial ongoing child support, and more than enough to live on for the rest of her life. The real test now is how much Mills, an ardent animal rights activist, will give to charity and if she will start her own charity with this windfall.

Whatever she does, I think I speak for a lot of people by wishing that she would keep a low profile. The public is fed up with seeing her sneering mug all over the papers. She’s said that she might move to Poland or the Czech Republic, but it’s doubtful she’ll be happy living out of the spotlight. She’ll want us to watch her spend that money. Look for a trip to LA in Mills’ immediate future.

Heather Mills is shown outside of court on 2/18/08. Paul McCartney is shown outside of court on 2/14/08, thanks to PRPhotos.

Update: The official settlement in the Mills McCartney divorce was $33 million plus $15.6 million in assets.

  1. Well, more power to her. What do this rich old men expect when young beautiful women show interest in them, this men fully know that the only thing they have doing for them is their wealth and they use it and play around with it to get this women in the first place, so when it comes to a divorce settlement they should pay up.

  2. oh come on anon. these women do everything within their power to convince the talented old men that it’s for theirself alone that they love them. that they deeply passionately love them and will forever. and the talented old men believe it because we all crave love.

  3. These rich old men are just as shallow, valuing women only for their youth and looks. No wonder they wind up with shallow marriage partners, just as shallow as they are.

  4. Exactly. look at Donald Trump, no young and beautiful women would give him the time of day if he was not as wealthy as he is and he knows it and plays with it and in return he uses his wealth to impress a woman and then when he is done satisfying his ego, he movies on to the next one. Although it is easy to judge the women for going after old (gross) men for their money and call them gold diggers, I criticize this old men who dare to think that they are something special to go around with women half their age when in reality they are old fools with too much ego and self important. I do not mind an little age difference when a couple are really in love but as Cindy Kennedy said this men who only value women only for their youth and looks should stop whiny and bitch about when its time to pay their wives a much earned settlement. So good for Heather, she might have used him for money but he used her as a young trophy wife to parade around in order to fuel his own ego.

  5. I still think she would have been perfectly happy staying married to him. I’m not at all certain her goal when she said I do was to turn around and divorce him and take him for all he is worth.

Not that it excuses her for being a moneygrubbing hobag but I think the marriage made her bitter. It sounds like his family hated the piss out of her and Paul didn’t like confrontation and allowed them to treat her as they pleased.

There are two sides to every break up and I think there is more to this than the golddigger angle.

  6. I’d have an easier time buying the “trophy wife” and “young beautiful woman” if she were even slightly attractive.

  8. Much as I dislike Heather (and I really do dislike her and have said so here many times and for very valid reasons), she may be a scheming gold digger now but I don’t believe she was at the outset.

Never thought I’d say this but I am in agreement with headache about the contributing factors to this divorce. She’s still delusional and all the rest but in retrospect, I’m not sure this marriage ever had much chance of succeeding.

  9. The guy marries a woman who bears a slight resembelance to his ex-wife. She is a gold-digging ex-prostitute. He not only marries her after many fights (including one where the engagement was hurled off the balcony of a hotel room) he marries her without a pre-nup.

what an idiot. he gets what he deserves. Marry someone your own age who shares your beliefs and has something in common with you.

I can’t stand heather mills, but she played this old man like a violin.

  11. He may have been going by his first marriage and the success it was. Head in the clouds, gullible, trusting, putting far too much faith in thinking Heather would be there forever. Meanwhile, she obviously had a game plan with a child thrown in to cement her financial windfall and ensure a good settlement. Who’s the stupid one here? Not her if she can live with the Universal hate against her obvious ploy.

  16. she also tried to scam Paul of 500,000 pounds–She called his accountant saying she needed it to pay the mortgages of houses she bought with his money—his office asked for statements which she was never able to produced as Paul already paid it all. Now, these houses are part of the 7 mil pounds assets mentioned in this divorce.

her blood relatives stil live in some of his properties paying. minimal rent.

Paul just had enough– she spent 3plus mil pounds in a 15 mos period during their marriage.

by the way– as the records showed– she never gave a sou to charity before they married– any amounts she gave came from Paul’s pocket.

nice,no? why Stella was deathly furious.
