Jennifer Hudson shows off her size 6 figure on the cover of People

peoplejenniferhudson
Jennifer Hudson, 28, looks amazing after losing her baby weight and then some to emerge a healthy and thin size six. Hudson is on the cover of People Magazine this week showing over her svelte form, whittled down from a size 16 after she had her first baby, David Daniel Otunga Jr., in August. Weight Watchers couldn’t ask for a better advertisement. Hudson is their spokesperson and she’s obviously taken her position seriously. She told Good Morning America in April that she’d lost weight with the program and that “I can follow the plan no matter where I am, still enjoy my favorite foods and even use the iPhone app to track my points.”

I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve lost 25 pounds with Weight Watchers and exercise so far this year. (Weight Watchers hasn’t contacted us or comped my membership or anything, but they’re welcome to.) I’m an online member and use the application on my iPod. It’s been extremely helpful. The other day I was at a Bob Evans when I ordered something like a small chicken salad with pecans and cranberries. I looked it up and a small one was 15 points! (I get 20 points total per day, plus overages. 15 points is very high in calories.) I changed my order to a small chef salad at just 6 points. Chain restaurants should at least include calories next to the salads as I almost got duped into eating one with more calories than a burger.

I have some gripes with the way that WW calculates points, because I don’t get enough calories if I don’t use all the additional points per week. Overall it’s really helped me lose weight without gimmicks or limiting the types of food I can eat. I’ve tried a lot of diets and this is the one that seems to work long term, although we’ll see.

Anyway congratulations to Hudson and I’m so glad she’s promoting Weight Watchers! It’s a business like all of the other diet programs, but it seems to be a reputable one and I know it works. Oh and People doesn’t have their cover story online yet but once it’s available we’ll update this story.

Here’s Hudson in Cannes this week. Credit: News Pictures/WENN.com. She’s also shown before, in the large picture below.

    she looks fab.

  2. Morgs says:

What deal did Sandra and Jesse strike with People to get her her 10 page spread with the baby and now he’s got a mea culpa piece in the same publication….I bet they get back together on the DL.

  3. Jillian says:

    She looks great!

I’ve lost my baby weight by counting calories. It’s a pain at first, but it gets easier.

  4. lucy2 says:

Wow, she looks fantastic! Good for her.

  5. Danielle says:

I don’t see how she’s a size 6 though. I wear a size six, barely, and I am smaller than she is.

She looks great, I’m just sayin’.

  6. Jeri says:

She looks great. She was one of the very few that could carry the extra weight prior to her weight loss also. She deserves a lot of happiness.

  7. Zeit says:

you’d better watch out with that People magazine cover… you wanna get another C&D e-mail from Time demanding you pay them $1500?

  8. Loraine says:

Danielle, totally agree. She looks great, but more like a 10 than a 6.

  9. Celebitchy says:

I would say she’s a size eight but sizes can run larger so maybe she fits into sixes too.

  10. Lil says:

    She is a fighter!

    Love her!

  11. dread pirate cuervo says:

She looks great! Glad she didn’t try to get down to a 0 or 2. She looks healthy & happy.

  12. Roma says:

Sizes do run random. I’m anywhere from a 4 all the way up to a 10, depending on the cut of the clothes.

    She’s 5’9. I bet she’s rocking a 6 in a dress and slightly larger in pants.

But either way – good for her, she looks amazing!

  13. denise says:

Jennifer looks good, but she needs to stop where she’s at. She is starting to look like a bobblehead.

  14. original kate says:

she looks great! i am also a size 6, but i have clothes that jump about from a 4 to 10! most women take the average size they can fit into and use that as their guide, so i buy she is a size 6/8 and probably has varying sizes in her closet, too.

  15. jessica says:

She probably had a tummy tuck and gastro-bypass.

  16. zen says:

She looks great, and ww is one of the few diet programs i do support b/c it helps educate you on the calories of all the foods which helps keep the weight off in the long run.
As far as sizes, Ive always been a 6 but Im noticing the 6’s are now bigger and baggier than what they used to be. It also depends on the clothing line but I think today’s 6’s are more like an 8’s b/c my body hasnt changed but now i wear 4’s or 6’s depending on the line.

  17. Vi says:

never heard a bad thing about weight watchers. it seems the most reliable non-faddy diet going. she’s still not a six though

  18. Carey says:

I feel disappointed by these comments. Can we please celebrate the fact that she is a beautiful woman who worked hard to live a healthier lifestyle? We are always pining for society to stop pressuring our young girls to look a certain way..we women have an obligation to stop the catty behavior and support each other in our small victories. BTW…I’m a size 6, and she looks better than I do!

  19. Y says:

Congratulations on your weight loss CB, that’s a real achievement!

  20. Katija says:

Sorry, J-Hud. That’s not a size six. You’re a lovely, slender size eight, but that’s just plain not a size six.

  21. KJ says:

There was one picture of her on Perez Hilton where she just looks absolutely stunning. She’s always been a stunner, beautiful face and nicely proportioned full figure, but she really does look incredible these days. I love that she’s promoting healthy and sane weight loss, and I love that she still has awesome curves. She’s steadily climbing the charts on my celebrity body inspirations.

Here’s the link to the Perez article: http://perezhilton.com/2010-05-18-jennifer-hudson-looks-stunning

I wouldve linked another blog because I despise Perez but this is the only place I could find this particular pic.

  22. Q says:

I don’t care what size she is. I care that she’s healthy and radiant and chose to put her fame behind a program that has been around forever because it WORKS. WW teaches you about food and how to eat at very reasonable prices, with flexible programs. Nutrasystem, Jenny Craig, etc., charge you an arm and a leg for engineered food that will help you shed pounds but teach you nothing about why you were overweight in the first place. How does that help you be healthy? Everyone is different, we come from different cultures and have different tastes – WW helps you learn to manage your own life.

  23. Tia C says:

@ jessica: That’s what I was thinking. Wasn’t this dramatic weight loss awfully sudden?

I agree with all the posters who say that does not appear to be a size 6. Of course it’s hard to tell from a photograph, but she does look more like a 10.

This is a gossip website, called celeBITCHY. If you don’t like cattiness, go visit the Hallmark website. 😉

  24. linda says:

how the hell do you guys know what number is printed on the tag in her clothes??? damn just be happy for her and keep all the extra shit to yourself!!

  25. snowball says:

She does look great, but it struck me that isn’t appearing on the cover of a magazine talking about how much weight you lost via a sensible eating and exercise plan the kiss of death for that weight loss?

Carnie Wilson, Kirstie Alley, Maureen McCormick – I know there have been many others that have bounced up and down. It’s certainly natural (been there, done that), but after the Oprah incident toting that wagonload of fat on her show, I don’t think I’d want to make a big fuss out of how much weight I lost.

She probably does look thinner in person, but if you look at her head size and think of her height, she’s stretching it with the 6 business. And it matters because she’s fibbing.

linda, if we all kept our shit to ourselves, forums would be pretty dead, eh? What would you have to bitch about?

  26. Cheyenne says:

@Katija: ITA. She looks terrific and she’s a great size 8 or 10, but she is no size 6. I’m a 6 and I am way thinner than she is.

  27. Spring says:

She looks lovely, but she’s absolutely NOT a size 6. Someone’s lying to her, or she’s lying to herself.

Great that she looks so good and healthy though!

  28. fizXgirl314 says:

a 10 really? you guys have size dysmorphia or something… that is NOT 10… pretty impressive btw…

  29. samehatingshite says:

Damn, there are some silly fillies up in here! Agree with Linda,Carey,Original kate and Roma.

The rest of you thirsty, angry nitpicking felines need to STHU. You sound so ignorant, arguing about the girl’s size.

  30. Victoria says:

I was actually going to say she’s a size 10. I wish this country would get over it’s obsession with THIN being size 0-6. There is NOTHING WRONG with being a size 10! She’s looks WONDERFUL and my even fit into a size (gasp) 12!

  31. benny says:

It’s called “vanity sizing” — clothing makers appeal to women’s vanity by making sizes larger than they used to, so women believe they are buying a smaller “size” and feel better about themselves (and spend more money).

So I don’t doubt that her dress says “size 6” on its tag. I also don’t doubt that without vanity sizing, that dress would be a 10.

But that’s our culture. In a few years, the “size 6” will be even bigger than it is today (which is already inflated). The clothing industry will have to start using negative sizes to address the really thin women.

And don’t get me wrong, I think she looks great. I prefer women with some curves on them.

  32. Novaraen says:

Yeah…she’s not a size 6. But good for her anyway.

  33. Lola says:

when you look like a pez you will not stay thin. Period.

That is not her natural state of being. Nor should it be she was gorgeous just as she was.

  34. keirelle says:

Haha– that is definitely not a size six. She looks GREAT… but that is not a 6. And I am sorry, but there is no way in hell someone can lose 25 pounds and still go down that many sizes. That’s not even logical…

  35. susan says:

I just think she is so beautiful. Her skin glows, she has big, gorgeous lips and bright eyes. I’m really happy that she got healthy. I know girlfriend has an Oscar she does not deserve, but I like her.

For what it’s worth, she could pass for a 6 to me.

  36. RHONYC says:

this is no surprise to me.

honey, have you seen that baby-daddy of hers…. david otunga (or whatever) from ‘i love ny’?!

he’s cut like a damn dc comic super hero!!!

i figured he would have her in the gym in no time gettin’ in better shape.

    good for her. 🙂

  37. Cath says:

Honest to God, she looked better with a little extra weight, IMO. Maybe not size 16, but she looks too skinny now.

  38. Linda says:

    She’s doing good but I don’t think it’s a six.

  39. TB says:

I lost my weight on Weight Watchers too. It a great program. Good for her, she looks great!

  40. catie says:

Who cares what size clothing she fits into? She looks fab-u-less! Absolutely lovely!

What a beautiful woman, and there is a lot more going on between those ears than ego!! She has a gorgeous baby, a voice from heaven, and a lot of joy in her life to make up for the horrible tragedy that befell her family. Best of luck to you Jennifer, you seem thoroughly deserving.

  41. N says:

@benny – spot on, as any American woman who has tried clothes on in Europe will tell you….it is depressing to see the sizes (much more accurate) on the labels of the clothes you fit in over the pond!

  42. fizXgirl314 says:

how can any of you judge someone’s size from a picture? This shit is bizarre to me…

  43. Moops says:

She looks like a 6 to me. To all you people saying, “I’m a 6 and I look smaller than her” – no, you don’t. You just think you do.

  44. Sarah says:

She looks awesome, but given how curvy she is and how tall she is, there is no way she is a 6. More like an 8 or 10. I am shorter than her by about 2 inches and am less curvy, though I have a bit of an ass. I was a bone rack in my teens and twenties, and basically wore an 8 then. Occasionally I wore a 10, and *very* occasionally I could wear a dress or top in a 6, but it was super rare.

  45. June Bug says:

The more expensive the clothing, the smaller the size.

If you’re saying she’s a size 10, you’re going by what you know: cheap, mass-produced clothing.

  46. Ron says:

Here’s the thing, every woman I know bases her size on the absolute smallest digit size in her closet. For instance, my mother is pretty much a size 14, However, she has a pair of pants in her closet that are a size 8. So she, quite obviously is a size 8. And you better not tell her otherwise!

  47. Ecru says:

If you buy your clothes in the mall at lower end chain stores she is likely an 8 or 10, however, if you buy designer high end clothing, she is a six. Regardless, she looks beautiful. She has a lovely baby, lost her mother, sister and nephew and has the power to move on in a positive way. Congratulation JH. I wish all of us on this site the same spirit

  48. onyx says:

maybe a size 6 when she is standing on her head.

  49. canadianchick says:

She looks great and I think she deserved her Oscar with that voice of angel and some great acting. Also loved her in the flick Secret Life of Bees-great book also. I’m so glad she’s doing okay, she’s a strong, hot momma.

  50. guesty says:

@kj…gorgeous pic of her. so agree ’bout ph. lol.

  51. DDD Cups of Justice says:

She looks absolutely amazing. I don’t think that sizes matter too much (I am trying to lose weight also and being forced to shop around for new pants all of a sudden shows that I can wear a 20 in most labels but in some labels I still can’t even pull a 20 on), but at the same time whenever I see weight loss articles (especially in People), the starting and ending sizes always seem to be off. The magic number for “starting” weights is always size 24 and the “ending” number is always 6. I just find that to be a very big coincidence, considering I’ve been a 24 and no where near the size of some of the “starting” weight women. I guess it’s all perspective?

  52. unipoo says:

Good for you (author of the post)! 25 lbs lost is nothing to sneeze at 🙂

  53. ~A says:

She looks fantastic. But that is *not* a size six.

  54. katie says:

    she looks great!

  55. sage says:

Its amazing how much larger sizing has gotten with the ‘growth’ of the nation. I’m one of these people who keeps all my old clothes that don’t fit because “one day” I’ll fit back into them.
So I’ve lost abt 8 lbs lately down from 145 to 137ish and I went to Dress Barn (why the HeLL could a corporation put the word “Barn” in a women’s retail clothing store remains light years beyond me…) I digressed. Anyhow, for the Sits and giggles of it I tried on some size 6 clothes-they were BIG on me?!? At 137?!? WTF?? My size 6s from a few years ago won’t even go over my thighs- while it was kinda fun to fit into a 6 “again” I think they are doing a dis-service really. At 137 I figure I should be somewhere between an 8-10. Having a 6 floating on me is just plain silly.

Oh- and jennifer G looks so pretty!

  56. mila says:

Is size 6 European size 36? If so, then she’s NOT 6, I’d say she looks more like EU size 38-40. Nevertheless, she looks great and I’m happy for her losing so much weight. Congrats to you Celebitchy as well!

  57. Snakebird says:

Does anyone know where her dress is from?

  58. Kali says:

I’m surprised about the comments saying her weight loss was fast. She looks like she lost 60-70 pounds. She had her baby in August and now it’s May. She lost the weight over 9 months. It’s healthy weight loss at a rate of 1-2 lbs. per week – do the math!

WW is a great program. If you follow it, it works and you can lose a significant amount of weight. Go to their website and read all of the success stories – it’s about ordinary people finding a way to eating healthy.

  59. RachelR says:

I’ve been on Weight Watchers for 2 months. When I started I WAS A SIZE 6 & I weighed 160lbs. I’m now down to 145lbs & I’m back into my old pants, all of which are a size 4. I do in fact think Jennifer Hudson is a size 6 there, people saying otherwise have very skewed idea of sizes apparently. She looks absolutely fantastic and very healthy! GO GIRL!!

  60. Emma says:

She looks absolutely fantastic, but I really, really, hope she doesn’t lose any more weight… she doesn’t need to and we don’t need another Zoe Saldona-skinny chick. She’s always been so beautiful just the way she is.

That being said, I don’t think she’s a size six, simply because she is so tall. A size six at 5’9 is skinny. Hudson is (thank God) not skinny. Maybe she can fit into the occasional six that runs large, but I wish celebrities would either own their ACTUAL size or not mention numbers at all.

  61. Fiona says:

    If she’s a size 6 I’m Oprah

  62. erika says:

I’m 5’7″, 133-139 pounds, about 36-29-38, and I am almost always a size 6 or 8. I think it has more to do with body shape than we think – weight is just a part of it. For instance, I’ve gained weight but stayed the same “size” since I started weight training – I assume the skinnyfat turned into muscle – and I have to wear a size larger in bottoms for my hips, but they fit better at the waist now. And my tops fit looser around my stomach.

Sizing is tricky – it’s not just weight. Shape and muscle/fat ratio play into it.

She looks wonderful, but I hope she doesn’t keep loosing weight. She’s got a build that looks amazing when she’s curvy.

  63. EMV says:

Remember the camara DOES add 10 pounds…she looks so healthy! it’s great.

  64. melissa says:

She definately is no size 6…and for that matter looked like a lot bigger than a 16 at her biggest…however, with that being said, she looks fantastic! Just beautiful at any weight. Good for her!!

  65. Shan says:

You have it backwards on designer izing vs. mass-produced brands. Mass produced brands run LARGER, not smaller. If you’re a size 6 (36) in a Dolce and Gabbana dress, you’re a 2 at Old Navy. Old Navy is the WORST of the vanity sizers. I can wear a 6 or an 8 at Old Navy, but I’m a 10 at the Gap and Banana Republic (which is funny, because they’re all owned by the same company) and it’s doubtful I could even fit into Dolce and Gabbana’s largest size at this weight. Guess I’ll have to cross that $5000 dress off my shopping list.

  66. Slymm27 says:

Why do you all go on and on about your sizes and height? Who cares? The girl runs btwn a 6-10. Good for her, she is beautifull and obviously happy.

  67. Vajayjay says:

A size 6??? I am a fan.. but she does NOT look like a size 6..

  68. Jag says:

@ Celebitchy ~ Grats on the weight loss!

She looks good, and more importantly, happy. Weight Watchers made an excellent decision to have her as a spokesperson.

  69. Stephie says:

It’s vanity sizing……. in highschool I was a size 8, now 20 years later I am supposedly a 0-2! (I am the same size as I was then).

  70. Hoagy1 says:

I agree with many of the other ladies. She looks amazing but I wouldn’t say she’s a size 6. I’m 5’10 and a size 4-6 (although I live in the UK so to us that’s an 8-10) and I would be confident in saying that I’m a fair bit thinner than Jennifer. However, as other say, this is actually irrelevant because she looks fantastic 🙂

  71. Natalie says:

I mean seriously, one person mentions that J. Hud looks bigger than a 6 & everybody has to jump on the bandwagon. Okay you made your point she doesn’t look like she wears a 6, SO WHAT! It doesn’t take away from her 25 lb. weight loss & all her achievements in life. She’s a beautiful woman regardless of what size she wears. I know this site is called cele bitchy but im starting to think some of you are this sour in your every day life. HATERS!

  72. Tilly says:

She isn’t a size 6. Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy for her, but there is no way.

  73. T Bettencourt says:

It does matter what size she says she is to all those struggling with weight loss and to the young girls out there getting mixed messages from these celebs…Jennifer Hudson, who has always been a beautiful woman n o matter what, initially proclaimed to the world size didn’t matter to her at all and that she loved herself. Now, she is proclaiming she is a size 6-no way. She once claimed wanting to be a role model to full sized girls…too many lies and misrepresentations.

  74. D says:

Not a six, not with those boobs and hips and butt. No way.

BUT I love this gal. Really, really do. Maybe it was an editing error or a way to stir up some controversy over her size by People. Makes sense, right? Controversy is good for these magazines.

If I were JH, I’d just say “I’m a ten and proud of it”. A size-ten is just fine.

  75. woooflipot78 says:

I’m impressed, I must say. Actually hardly ever do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you have got hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the difficulty is one thing that not sufficient people are speaking intelligently about. I am very glad that I stumbled across this in my seek for something referring to this.G)Z$N diet pills that work fast rcEF-

  76. noneya says:

She’s definitely a 6. When you’re tall your weight is porportioned differetly than average or petite women. She 5’o so she just may be a 6tall.
