Some people think Jessica Simpson still looks good. Really? True story. I am not one of those people. Of course, I’m not going to rag on her weight – I don’t care about her weight. It’s her style that consistently pisses me off. Not just the bad clothes she wears, but the hair, the makeup, the vibe. If I didn’t know better, I would think Jessica is a 40-something Texas hooker. She wears too much makeup, the hair is always jacked, and her clothes are always too tight. Why does she always get it wrong on red carpets? Does she have no one in her life or her “team” that will just sit her down and tell her – “You look like hell. Don’t go out like that.” And does she have a mirror? Why doesn’t she look at herself and just say, “Actually, I don’t need this much makeup.” There’s something I’ve been feeling about Jessica for a while – she has drag queen style. Tragic, but true.
Meanwhile, we got sent this strange email from a dude named Alex Astilean who sued Jessica because she didn’t fulfill her contract to promote Speedfit, a workout video. Allegedly, Jessica showed up to the promotional shoot drunk, and then Astilean and Joe Simpson tangled in the press. Joe tried to get the video banned from release, and Jessica ended up getting sued. The dude said that she was “hurting the fat people of America” and later said that her weight gain was “karma”. He later lost the case in arbitration. Now he’s claiming that Jessica “lied under oath” in her deposition and he can prove it with some “smoking gun evidence”. I didn’t want to delve too deeply into this stuff, just because, at the end of the day, how difficult is it to catch Jessica in a lie? Did you see her on Oprah? She’s so dumb, it’s a wonder she can function in society.

I use to be a huge Jessica Simpson fan, back in the days of Nick & Jessica. However, I do believe that “karma” is happening to her because she ended her marriage to Nick. Jessica has had no good luck since then. She cannot sell cd’s, make movies or have a hit reality show.

To much botox in her forehead but i think she is a pretty girl. She has always ahd that masculinelook and the over botox is making alot of Hollywood women look tranny because its gives the cro magnum man forehead. Brooke Shields has same thing.

Too much hair and especially makeup. She gets the most compliments when she is dressed down. You would think it would sink in to KEEP IT SIMPLE. But noooo, red carpet after red carpet of overdone everything. Another thing that bothers me especially in the past year is the alcohol issue. It keeps coming up. Jessica’s bloated appearance seems evidence of alchol issues. Her “heaviness” seem more like alcohol than food gain. Get REAL help, Jess.
I think she looks good. I like the weight. And people get divorced all the time I dont know why she’s the only one who gets crap for it. She deserves bad karma for leaving an unhappy marriage? Then so does everyone else who is divorced.

I agree with you jc. I’ll never criticize Jess for the divorce. Jessica and Nick were NOT happy. People need to stop romanticizing that relationship.
It must really piss her off that now her sister is in good shape and the pretty one, plus she is married and has a kid. Jessica still is pretty but a little overweight.
It’s comments like the header of this story that makes women feel bad about themselves.
It’s either they are too heavy/drag queen or they are ‘scary thin’. The media needs to take the responsible way of the high road (or at least be more mindful of what is printed).

I think when women get heavier they sometimes tend to try and distract from that fact with more makeup, more hair and ‘more’ clothes. I honestly think that is what is going on here. Her eyes are starting to disappear into her puffy flesh, so she needs more eyeliner and mascara to make them pop. Same with her vanishing (vanished) cheekbones. She is pretty – always will be. But this weight gain is not healthy.

Her face has filled out a little bit, that’s what I think has changed up her look – not her makeup. Her hair hasn’t been my fav lately and she’s got to seriously get a new stylist. I miss her with Nick. I was the BIGGEST Newlyweds fan around.

Um, I think,honestly, that her ‘look’-ie, alot of makeup to some,and tight clothes-is very ‘fashionable’ in many parts of the US. The midwest, parts of the east coast, etc.
To some others of us, ie, myself,in so cal, it is not a good look. And you are right, it’s not the weight-it’s the whole ‘vibe’ and ‘style’, or lack thereof.
So, I think it may be that she’s got a regional look going on, that doesn’t appeal to some of us….she definitely doesn’t have that J. Crew heroin chic look, that’s for sure. LOL

Look, many celebs hav ethe same issue as jessica. Eva longoria, Jenn Aniston [on the red carpet only in her case,tho’-she usually looks okay out and about on the street]-they dress drag queen like, with sparkly vanna white dresses.
It’s not fashionable or fashion forward, and is kinda of tacky, to me. But I think it does appeal to some factions of our country. Probably a demographic that spends alot of money on the same look. Women who tune in to desparate housewives, and/or anniston rom coms. They are key consumers.
Maybe Jessica is dressing for her demographic fan base?
I think this commentary on JS is way too harsh. She doesn’t look like a drag queen, nor is she fat. She has ups and downs in life like everyone else — though she is a celebrity. Cut her some slack! I think the past few years have matured her and taught her some tough lessons….

The average woman is 5’4″ and 164 pounds. Jessica Simpson is about 5’2″ although she claims to be taller. I am the same height as Jessica and used to be overweight though not as large as she is. Comparing her build to mine, I would estimate her weight at 140-150 lbs, so yes, she still weighs less than the average American woman but not by much, and she is definitely heavier than the 135 lb. average for women her age.

Crash2GO2, you totally nailed it. Ladies in their 30s have to realize they can no longer eat like teenagers and have to work out more to maintain a slim figure. Your metabolism slows down in your late 20s, so a diet composed solely of Cheetos and BBQ no longer leave your shape unchanged.
Lady D, Dolly Parton is also an amazing songwriter & has managed her career/money successfully (except for having way more surgery than she needed). Dolly’s a feminist hero, which sadly JSimp cannot claim (nor would ever want to, I’m sure).
I have known her stylists and they say that she insists on wearing things how she wants. She’s a trainwreck.

Well now I sort of feel badly for what I said. I have a dear friend who struggles with her weight and is every bit as beautiful and sexy as Jessica, although also incredibly smart and funny. She doesn’t overdo the makeup, however, and dresses better for her figure. However, if anyone were to say anything to her like we have said about Jessica, she would be crushed. I think our problem is we have Jessica as Daisy Duke stuck in our minds and that is just not who she chooses to be right now. And from now on, I will choose to respect that.

More than the weight gain, it is the poor clothing choices that turn Jessica Simpson and Mariah Carey into entertainment media fodder. Stuffing themselves into outfits that are too small only make them look even heavier. The implants add unneeded volume to a plump figure.

The hair would be cute if she wore a pale color with a sort of laid back vibe, ditched the earrings, and wore nude/california girl makeup. Then the hair would be in contrast to everything else and look hot – I could have done a pun there because it’d probably look at least a little more “haute” than this nonsense here.
I think she’s gorgeous. Her style, when dressing up for the red carpet or an event tends to be very “Texas”, and she’s a Texan. Ask any Texan and they’ll cop to the local tendency toward big hair, jewelry, lots of makeup and flashy dresses. It’s just the style there (everything’s bigger, etc.). Seems to me that Jess, like most women, reverts to what she knows on an important occasion. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not to my taste. She’d be lovely in simple, draping pastels.
I totally agree with Maya. I used to be a big fan of Jessica. But she’s gone downhill since her “Newlyweds” days. Ever since she divorced Nick, she’s had not the best of luck. Karma is a bitch!
All she ever did on the show is fart and drink. She was drunk almost every episode of the last season. She admires her own turds and shows them off! No class and stupid to boot. I don’t know how Nick could ever marry her.
