Last week, LaineyGossip was the first site (to my knowledge) to point out a particular bitchy/hilarious/nasty RE-tweet on Elisabetta Canalis’s Twitter account. Canalis had re-tweeted this message (in Italian): “I’m flipping through the new Rolling Stone. Iggy Pop on the cover is the double of Jennifer Aniston.” Well… the sh-t hit the fan. I covered the story here, and many, many publications covered it as well, including Canalis’s later denial that she had done anything. Canalis wrote (in English): “I JUST RED ON GOOGLE that I TWEETED something bad about J Aniston,let me be clear,it’s a complete LIE,I would never do that!!” So, total denial. Except that now Elisabetta’s Twitter account has been totally cancelled.
LaineyGossip thinks that George Clooney “finally stepped in” because “Ely is trying to work in America now. And there’s no working in America right off the get if you piss on the MiniVan Majority’s favourite best friend. More importantly, George Clooney can’t afford to cut those bitches off either. So Ely is no longer tweeting.” Or it could have nothing to do with Aniston, and more to do with the sudden realization many of us had that Canalis isn’t all that bright. The whole incident reeked of a Lohan-esque shenanigan, and the veil was lifted. Of course, both George and Ely were smart enough to know that they both looked like idiots.
Of course, there is something to the theory that George and Ely were terrified of Aniston’s most rabid fans. The comments on this site alone went batsh-t insane with our two stories, and I imagine it was like that on other sites as well. Canalis made some lifelong enemies with that one little re-tweet.

i’m not sure what exactly happened, but i believe the big fuss after the nasty RT on Aniston’s look wasn’t the only reason she left.
i’ve been reading some of Canalis’ tweets recently and she kept saying she had been stalked by a woman. then, two followers of hers started “investigating” on her supposed-to-be stalker and posted some pics that should be hers. to tell the truth the photo was a profile image of a ‘clooney cookie crumbs’ italian user who just criticized canalis but absolutely was not harrassing or stalking her. luckily, the girl in the image wasn’t really her but just a slightly-edited Kristen stewart.
then the two EC followers got game to start insulting other people publicly on twitter, just as they are in connection with the so-called-stalker. the whole thing got too far and they dissed a minor alongside with writing her full name. as slander of a minor is a heavy charge in Italy, the victim and the italian website where she uses to comment started interesting in elisabetta canalis’ friends and what they posted on their pages. As EC is trying to get some consideration in the US, i think maybe being related to people with pending charges of slandering is not so cool for her public image.

It’s a law in certain countries that means you can’t be put in jail for what you say. It has nothing to do with people’s personal reactions to what you say when and if their feelings get hurt.

Comparing a retweet of an anti-Aniston comment to using the n-word is SO appropriate. And, I love it when a person lectures us about “PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY” for our words (all caps for EMPHASIS!) as she posts anonymously with a screen name skewering a celeb. How doubly appropriate. haha
Finally, Canalis. Since she didn’t say the words to begin with, it’s hard to determine how she interpreted them. So, everyone automatically assumes she is a mean-spirited bitch who thinks Aniston is Iggy Pop’s twin. Maybe, she thought they both have pretty hair? They both do have pretty hair. Who knows. A lot of hoo-haa about nothing if you ask me.
I totally agree with wisteria. she’s obvoiusly free to criticize everyone in the entertainment, but then she should have the guts to admit she endorsed the comment on Aniston and not just retweet it for an accident.

Agree with GraveDigger. I have a lot of family in Italy (mostly women, mom, sisters, cousins). They couldn’t stand this woman long before she hooked up with Cloon. Canalis is obviously low class and will do anything to be famous. Clooney must be going thru the mid-life crisis crazies to throw his lot in with hers. He could obviously do much better, snag a woman with beauty and intelligence and class, if he wanted.

Also, my wife wants me to address the “mini-van majority” moniker which she thinks applies to her for some reason because she’s a stay at home mom. It does seem to be thrown around in an insulting manner, esp by the rather vicious & strange Lainey. For the record, we have never owned a minivan and neither do any of our friends. Our kid doesn’t play soccer, and we have never gone to a movie theater to see a Jen Aniston movie, or a George Clooney movie for that matter. In fact, I think the only JA movie we have seen is the one about the guy that works in an office, it was pretty good actually. Its on tv a lot.

There is no Stalker, she is only trying to get back at a blog owner who has been calling her out on her sh*t for years by exposing their true identity on the internet. Unfortunately for the stupid Canalis the blog owner happens to be a lawyer.

The account was shut down because she started tweeting about George and what they were doing – the bike ride in Malibu, BBQ sundays at his house. And less than 12 hours later, the whole account is gone.
This wasn’t her choice. She was going to post pictures when she went back to Portland to shoot her next episode of Leverage and now she feels the need to shut it down. George didn’t care about her PR damaging herself – discussing him and his life, that’s a big no-no.
I think this is sad . Clooney is going to ruin his image over this gal .she is working him like a Bangkok street walker . He is totaly in love with her . I have seen them out in public . Zeitgeistyreport was the first site to report it. Lainey, who isn’t exactly the brightest bulb herself, likely found the story by googling Canalis.
The backlash against Canalis had been going on well before the tweet about Aniston. I have no idea why Lainey and others are assuming that the people who don’t like Canalis are all Aniston fans. People have been praying for Canalis to go away for months. I resent having her trashiness foisted upon the American consciousness.

DDRD, “minivan majority” is a term that refers to middle America type stay at home moms that spend their days ferrying large amounts of children around, hence the need for a minivan. It is similar to the “soccer mom” term. The term came to web prominence through Lainey Gossip, who uses it in a derogatory way whenever possible. Lainey makes no bones about not liking kids (& their moms), and she seems to be under the delusion that these mothers are keeping the careers of people like Jen Aniston & George Clooney afloat, and that they must always be on their toes not to offend the “minivan majority” or they won’t go to their movies. Of course, this is as laughable as it is untrue. My husband works for one of the major movie studios. The studios know damn well that stay-at-home moms and/or soccer moms rarely have the time or money to go to movies & when they do, its usually to take their kids. Movies are rarely marketed to these women, who are far more likely to watch movies at home. In fact, it is single people that are more likely to go to Jen A’s or George C’s movies, and make up their core fan base; or people in other countries.
btw, Lainey is one of Elisbetta C’s biggest fans, she refers to her as the “Italian Queen” & thinks she’s just fabulous. I used to read her site regularly, but am annoyed that she doesn’t allow comments; apparently, the only opinions that matter in her world are her own. Also, the writing here at Celebitchy is much better & I enjoy the threads. So thanks CB & friends!
