Does no one care enough about this girl to commit her before she does herself in? Do the laws in the U.K. even allow a family to do that? She’s one big loud scream for help.
-
as long as she herself doesn´t hear the screaming, no “help” will ever help her.

when you are on as many drugs as her… you are bound to see a few things that are not there.

Addicts (as well as pathological liars and megalomaniac personalities) have the unique ‘gift’ of being able to justify just about anything in their mind. The addict is a unique case, in that they can justify anything and everything for a specific purpose, the ability to continue using without guilt/fear of consequences.
The scary thing about these people is that they’re truly delusional, meaning they tend to be able to actually convince themselves of things a logical mind would quickly dismiss. I bet she honestly believes that it’s demons, and not the drugs that are doing these things to her. As long as that scape-goat is present, as long as she can convince herself that it’s something beyond her control (very important), she can continue to keep using.
My big question is how the British legal/psychiatric community seems to be letting her down. Her behavior is clearly delusional, and her choices are causing physical harm to her person anyone can see - which would be grounds enough for a committal in most American states. Hell, here she would have been locked up for at least a week of observation after that ’stumbling through the street half naked’ fiasco.

I hate to sound like this but I honestly think this woman is hideously ugly. Especially with all that dark eyeliner, she looks like Morticia Adams.

My feelings exactly Scott F, and Anni if she’s dead there’s no hope. Sometimes all that can be done is to try and keep the person in distress alive and from time to time “safe” (ie. in in patient care) until they themselves can come to the point of facing their demons. Years ago we committed a friend not too unlike Amy. If we hadn’t she’d be dead today, o.d.’d or murdered. No, she didn’t get out of hospital to a rosy new life, it was a long road, but our actions bought her some time, and that much one can do.

I wonder what the underlying cause of her addiction is. I know alot of addicts get that way because they got in too deep after casual usage but I always felt like Amy’s using is a self medication or her way of dealing with some deep seated issue. She’ll never clean up if she doesn’t address what drives her not just to use or drink but to time after time in one way or another engage in such destructive actions.
I honestly think that even if she got clean she would find some other way of hurting herself, whether it was cutting, sex, abusive relationships, dangerous hobbies, etc.

Oh, this woman really gets to me. As a fellow addict, I am totally rooting for her and as an admirer of her music and her amazing voice I am hanging onto the hope that she will be able to climb out of it, but……. It’s hard right now, because my sister is just going down the same tubes and she’s always been my best friend.

Off topic but, her dress + gloves would look great … if she got rid of that, strange, waffle-grill pendant and the tattoos.

Under the UK Mental Health Act:
Sectioning Procedure: two doctors must confirm that
(a) the patient is suffering from a mental disorder of a nature or degree that warrants detention in hospital for assessment (or assessment followed by medical treatment) or at least a limited period; and
(b) she or he ought to be detained in the interests of her/his own health or safety, or with a view to the protection of others.Amy’s father tried to get her sectioned but couldn’t get agreement from the authorities (in this case, doctors) who felt she wasn’t a danger to herself.
Sobering and tragic.

Hey guys I would not be surprised if she has AIDS……thats what people in Africa start to look like when the disease sets in ….all skinny and your skin goes like that.
Drug needles……..etc.
-
Geronimo, I couldn’t agree more. Her arms are covered with cuts, she’s delusional, paranoid, obviously not eating and all the rest of it. WTF is up with these doctors?
One can only hope Mr. Winehouse keeps trying and soon succeeds. -
Breederina - This is as bad as she’s ever been. If the psychosis - and that’s what it is - doesn’t stir someone into intervention and immediate professional attention, she’s a goner. No joke.
