Hollywood supercouple Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem were married in a private ceremony in the Bahamas earlier this month and we’re just finding out about it now! I love the fact that these two were able to keep everything so quiet. As much as I’d like to see photos of Penelope in her gown I really hope that none are ever leaked. These two have rarely been photographed together and while they’ve attended events together it’s not like they’re posing holding hands on the red carpet. I have a lot of respect for the way they’ve been able to keep their relationship out of the tabloids. Here’s a little more about their wedding, and there aren’t many details:
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem have always kept their romance under the radar – and their intimate wedding was equally low-profile.
Cruz, 36, and Javier Bardem, 41, exchanged vows in front of family members during a small, private ceremony held at a friend’s home in the Bahamas earlier this month, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.
The bride wore a gown designed by designer John Galliano, a longtime friend of the actress.

So who was there? I’m sure there were family members, but was Salma Hayek there with her billionaire husband and genius daughter? I have to reconcile my curiosity with the fact that it’s better for the Cruz-Bardems that their ceremony remains private and special. You know that they want it that way.
I kind of love that they made the announcement on a Tuesday night, just a smidgen too late for this week’s tabloids. The wedding won’t be in the supermarket mags until next week, at which point it will be old news. They’ll probably add some pregnancy and baby rumors in there to spice up the leftovers. Congratulations to Penelope and Javier and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness together! This news is so nice to hear.

The photos only show up when the paps are called which is the case in 90% of those “accidental/caught” pap photos.
She earned herself that Oscar by playing the beard for certain actors: Tom Cruise, Matthew Mac…..(can’t spell that name). And the rumours about her own interest have been too many to ignore which makes me think of Bardem. Hmm?

It’s sad that I am so ridiculously happy about this – both that it happened, and that we didn’t hear about it. I agree, I will content myself with imagining how spectacular they both probably looked and hope to never see a picture. Love what you did there, lining up both their Oscar photos, hehehe.

They can keep it private because the tabloids do not care about them – not big sellers. I know that I sound like a cynic but it is true. I don’t think that they have anyone after them much. If they had 30 paps living at their house like some stars they would not be able to do anything private.

Congrats to them both, though Javi was suppposed to marry me! I really doubt Javier would have his people call the paps for photo ops, the last ones I saw of them on a beach it looked like as soon as they spotted the photographer they booked. Private couple, makes me like them more.

@Guest While I agree with you that if the paps aren’t interested then it is easy to be private because no one is following you, I also think that they don’t court the paps attention. I am sure we would be seeing lots more of them and Johnny Depp and family if they wanted the paps to be around but they don’t. And look how secretive Sandra Bullock has been these past 6 months, I know the paps would have loved to have been around for that and they weren’t. I think it is all about the PR machine and famewhoring celebs.

#20 (Guest) is right. People don’t care, that’s why it was under the radar. They are not big stars. MOST people probably couldn’t even identify him, or identify her movies. She’s a product of pr, not a good actress and literally looks like a mouse. She’s also a pedo-loving Polanski petition signer and dropped in favor because of it

I’m going to respectfully disagree with no paps because they are not big stars. The world is actually bigger than just the USA and they are actually stars in other places. While I concede you have a point in here, the Spanish tabloids would have paid a lot for the wedding pics and then by extension we would have seen them.

She is a huge star in Europe, and she is an awesome actress. Have you ever seen any of her movies with the the famous director Pedro Almodovar? You should, and then you can appreciate her range as an actor.
