Jennifer Aniston on fitness: “It’s simple. Run, work out every day”

jennifer_aniston_dinner_08_wenn5517611

Here are some photos of Jennifer Aniston out last night in London. According to the Daily Mail, it was “all work and no play” because she went out to dinner with her publicist instead of “a night out on the town with some friends.” Okay, is it just weird lighting or the design of the dress? Or does Jennifer look like she peed down the front of her dress? It looks wet down the front. Maybe she spilled something? (Urine?) Did she meet up with John Mayer?!? Maybe it’s just the design?

Meanwhile, while Jennifer was promoting her fragrance (“Aniston: The Perfume”), she gave an interview to The Daily Mirror, and she ended up pulling a GOOP and discussing her diet and exercise habits in detail:

It takes a brave star to stand before their tone-perfect, heavily airbrushed publicity shots. But Jennifer Aniston proved she is every bit as lean and glamorous in the flesh, as she posed beside posters for her new perfume campaign yesterday.

Sadly for women everywhere, she also revealed the secret to her toned size six figure – hardcore gym workouts SEVEN days a week.

Looking stunning in a beige, bow-detail minidress, the actress, 41, spent an hour chatting to fans and signing autographs at Harrods, promoting her new scent, Jennifer Aniston: The Debut Fragrance.

Asked about the secret to her honed bod, the American star told us: “It’s simple. Run, work out every day. I do a lot of running – exercise is so important. Plus it’s all about balance. Work, exercise, diet, you need balance.”

“I am, perhaps, fortunate in that my career, the public awareness it brings, gives me a certain freedom in this way. But, of course, there are positives and negatives in any career, it’s not all going to be perfect.”

As she met fans, who had all bought her perfume starting at £23.50, on the fourth floor of the famous department store in West London, the Friends star sipped mineral water – through a straw – from a large wine glass.

She then doused herself in more perfume, which was two years in the making, and spoke about joining celebrities including Kylie Minogue, Jennifer Lopez and Victoria Beckham in bringing out a scent.

“Firstly, I knew how I didn’t want it to smell,” she said. “There are a lot of bad scents and I wanted this one to be right so I was very involved in it all.

“It is fresh, it’s sexy, it’s natural and there’s a hint of ocean which reminds me of home. I am really proud of it.”

[From The Daily Mirror]

I don‘t understand the sentence, “I am, perhaps, fortunate in that my career, the public awareness it brings, gives me a certain freedom in this way.” Is she saying that because she’s a celebrity, she’s more aware of how she looks, or that celebrity means she focuses on her “balance” more? Or that exercise is freedom? Sorry to nit-pick, I truly didn’t understand that.

  1. hanh says:

Yes, its the design of the dress.

Her perfume pictures are totally airbrushed. She’s way skinnier in them than she is in real life with more washboard abs than she really has. She has a great figure normally, but the perfume pictures are ridiculous.

And she forgot to mention that in addition to the crazy gym workouts, she diets like a fiend and smokes like crazy.

  2. di butler says:

She sounds a little GOOPy, but whatevs. She looks awesome. I sure don’t have that kind of discipline.

  3. lem says:

i really thought she was more around a size 2 rather than a 6. but props for owning up to her real size– most celebs do not do that.

  4. jones says:

In other words, fat people, put the super-size cheeseburger down and buy yourself a work-out video and don’t let it collect dust.

  5. Praise St. Angie! says:

it’s def the fabric of the dress that give the impression of “spillage”.

the fabric is somewhat diaphanous so it shows the layer underneath. (though the Mayer reference was funny!)

re: the quote…I think what’s she saying is that, because of the nature of her career, she has the time/money/opportunity to keep that “balance” better than a lot of people are able to.

  6. Rachel says:

A UK size 6 is a US size 4. Condsidering The Daily Mail is a UK publication, I’m sure they’re talking UK sizes.

  7. Lisa Turtle says:

British sizes run differently than American sizes. A size 6 UK is like a 0-2 US.

Since she gave this interview to a British publication, I assume they used UK sizing.

  8. horizonte says:

it means that her career allows for a lot of free time to exercise seven days a week, etc, whereas she can see other people are more pressed for time and wouldn`t be able to.

  9. jen says:

“there’s a hint of ocean which reminds me of home.”

Haha! Reminds me of Kramer’s Beach Cologne.

  10. Heidi says:

Size six my tushie. Try size zero. I don’t appreciate the Daily Mirror trying to report that she’s a size six, like that lie (which is so obviously a lie) would make other women like her more & feel better about themselves. Especially not when that assertion is coupled with the claim that she works out SEVEN days a week accompanied by pictures of her very thin body. I’m not bashing her size by any means, or even what she does to get/maintain it, but I am bashing the Daily Mirror for their patronizing, very obvious lie. She’s a size zero. Done & done.

  11. She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named says:

I read it to mean, because of people’s awareness of her (her popularity) she makes money, and because of that, she has a lifestyle that allows her the luxury to go to the gym every single day of her life if she chooses to, and she does. Every. Single. Day.

Wow, now that’s dedication to a cause!

  12. Bubbling says:

this woman is on drugs I can’t run seven days a week!!!!!

  13. Dejasade says:

I don’t think it’s good to work out every day…your muscles need time to heal and grow. My work out regime is mon, tues off wed, thurs, fri and maybe 1 weekend day.
Her diet is probably ridic though….
    it’s 70% diet…

  14. LondonLady says:

Dejasade, you are totally right. Not healthy to work out that much, bad for the bones and the joints and a fast track to arthritis. However, I am sure her trainers are top notch and organise her schedule so that she does a mix of cardio and other work so that it is not so demanding. But some kudos due for fessing up to the fact that having a killer bod requires some serious work, its just fact.

  15. Me says:

She has an amazing body, and of course she works hard for it. At least she didn’t say, “I have great genes.”

  16. melina says:

I don’t really understand US and UK sizes but wouldn’t size zero be skeletal thin?
I believe UK size 6 is US size 4 and European size 34, right?I don’t think she is skinny, she has meat in her body, she’s just very toned. So I don’t doubt that she is size 6.
About her quote, I don’t understand either the public awareness mention, but I guess she means that she has the time and money to take care of her body. That’s refreshing, she acknowledges that she is luckier than the rest of that in that matter

  17. Jessi says:

It’s the fabric of the dress-a type of mesh, and it doesn’t look like she peed, you couldn’t think of anything else to write? Sometimes it’s better to say nothing.

  18. RHONYC says:

maniston smokes, so i don’t see how she can….

    whoops. i stopped caring.

  19. Karen says:

I was about to add my own two-bit analysis of the quote but all of you have already done a great job. I will agree with #16 (sorry, can’t read your nickname) that she literally has worked her ass off to get that body and she didn’t chalk it up to her “crazy promotion/filming schedule” or chasing after her god daughter Coco Arquette.

I’m not a huge fan of Jennifer Aniston but I won’t begrudge her right to exercise like a fiend to maintain her figure so that she can squeeze into her upteenth neutral coloured or black dress for the red carpet!

  20. Andrea says:

I used to smoke like a fiend, and weighed about 112 lbs. I quit about 10 years ago, and now weigh 150. A reformed smoker still has that need to put something in their mouth (minds out of gutter, folks).

Anyhow, my doctor told me it’s easier to fix a weight problem than lung cancer, so I can live with that. Jennifer (as well as other actresses) better think of this, because they sure as hell don’t make designer hospital gowns!

  21. Lydia says:

She definitely doesn’t look a six or a four. Probably a zero or two. She really has a great toned body.

  22. Miss Thang says:

She is *at least* a four. I have a girlfriend who is a 2 and a girlfriend who is a 0 and Jen is not that small. Jen Lopez has said she’s a 6, and that butt has to be a size bigger than Aniston’s. So 4 gets my vote.

  23. Victoria says:

Oh I hate it when people with no kids and all the money in the world to spend on diet and excercise (blah blah blah) talk likes its the easiest thing in the worl! I hate the “it’s simple” comment. I have no kids and I just lost about 30 lbs by dropping a lot of sugar from my diet and sticking to excericse which is aerobics 3 times a week (not 7 is she nuts?!) and walking my spaz of a dog every day. I think this weight loss would have happened slower and been a little more trying if I had kids.

  24. Victoria says:

    @Andrea

“need to put something in their mouth (minds out of gutter, folks). ”

WHA HA HA HA HA!!!! Hey we wouldnt automatically go there! Would we?

No no I get it, it’s an oral fixation right? I knew a guy in college who was either drinking, smoking, chewing gum or had a mint in his mouth.

  25. dread pirate cuervo says:

It’s not good to work out 7 days a week. I do 5/6 days but my workouts are so varied that some days it takes 40 minutes & some days it takes 5 minutes. Rest is essential. & I don’t think she runs everyday b/c she would have that really wiry runner body whereas Aniston has the best body in H’wood.

  26. wow says:

It’s simple, get your roots done doll!

  27. Praise St. Angie! says:

re: the working out 7 days a week…I’m sure there is a varied consensus out there…most trainers/doctors I’ve asked about that say it’s OK to work out 7 days, as long as you are varying your workout each day.

as in, you do cardio/running a few days a week, and you do weight training on different parts of your body the other days. You are essentially “resting” the part of your body that you’re NOT working out on that body part’s “day off”.

I’m sure other trainers/doctors would disagree, but it also depends on how long you’ve been working out, FOR how long you work out, age, body type, etc…what works for Aniston might not work for others.

to Victoria: I don’t see that Aniston is saying that it’s the easiest thing in the world…she clearly acknowledges that her lifestyle allows her to have the freedom to work out that way. And I don’t think the “it’s simple” comment means it’s simple to work out…just that there is a simple way (that is, it’s no secret and an OBVIOUS way) to lose weight and stay in shape.

the METHOD is simple, the execution isn’t necessarily as simple.

  28. xxodettexx says:

    @andrea: too late! i have a gutter-mind!

    :)

  29. San says:

Why do people try to pretend she has a body, she’s just skinny. No hips no butt no boobs. She should cut her workout to 5 days a week to put some weight on. Cindy Crawford heidi klum naomi campbell . Supermodels from back when had/have bodies. Brooklyn decker and Halle those are bodies. Having a hot body doesn’t mean being skinny.
Madonna works out 5-6 days a week, that’s a bod.. A tight butt and hips she has.

  30. Lindsay says:

Victoria- I think she means its simple in terms of knowing what you have to do. Eat right and exercise are the only way to lose weight in a healthy way. Knowing what to do is simple, doing it is hard. Congratulations to you! Cutting out sugar can be really hard.

Jessi- I have been thinking that more and more whenever I read Kaiser’s articles. There seems to be an increasing amount of vulgarity that isn’t necessary or funny.

  31. Lindsay says:

  32. truthSF says:

    She’s definitely bigger than a 2.

I’ll be 30 this year and i’m still a size 1, size 2 is still 2 big for me. Hopefully when i’m 40+ I’ll be a size 4-6, being skinny is so not pretty for me. but I sill have way more hips and ass than this flat chick.

P.s. I’ve just realized that any article or blog about this woman is usually about her body or who she’s dating. Nothing about how she’s a great actress or how she’s making a difference to ppl. Is there really nothing else to talk about with this woman?

  33. Sugar & Spice says:

Sure it’s simple. Between the 11 hours a day I’m either commuting or at work, not having a maid to clean my house, not having two chefs to prepare all my meals, and having kids to take care of, I don’t have time to work out several hours every day. She has all day to work out since she doesn’t have any of the rest of it to do, so of course it’s simple for her. Give me a break.

  34. Angelina says:

Aniston has a great body but it is covered in alligator skin. That is why happens when you lay out in the sun and smoke. She should concentrate on sun damage correction and quit smoking. And the highlights are so ’90′s! I don’t know how she got a perfume deal because in reality she is a has-been sitcom actress.

  35. LindyLou says:

@sugar & Spice – I was thinking the same thing. Having millions of dollars and people to do everyday mundane things for you makes it easy to have the time to totally indulge in whatever you want. I’m so jealous! :)

  36. Crash2GO2 says:

I vote for a size 4. She’s my height, and I’m leaner than she – a size 2. Thinner arms and legs, etc.

I’d still never stand next to her in a bikini.

  37. Angelina says:

TruthFS and Sugar & Spice – You hit the nail on the head!!!

  38. ann says:

We’ll be hearing alot about her every day while tha movie Salt is playing.
Haven’t heard anything about her in months, but now Angie’s movie is out, she’s everywhere.

  39. coup de grazia says:

i have come to the conclusion that jennifer aniston is not terribly bright.

p.s. am changing my lil’ nickname cuz there are two andreas.

  40. Maritza says:

She has no husband and no children, the woman lives to pamper herself, she has all the time in the world to do exercises not to mention the money too. Plus her own trainer and chef. She is 100% dedicated to herself and her career. Jennifer is in no rush to adopt that’s for sure!

  41. Melanie says:

@ Angelina: Angelina is that you? Ha, ha, anyways if Britney Spears can churn out perfume with her busted weave and fat hillbilly body, well…….

  42. lrm says:

    J. Lopez is NOT a 6!!! she’s more like 8 or 10. I’m a solid 6, have been for years(since high school and i’m now 40)….J Lo, um, no. (Though J Lo has a hot latina body, for sure…she’s just not skinny or petite, for that matter)

Anniston looks like a US 6 to me-and sometimes a 4,depending on the day….but mostly, I am always struck by how she looks fit/toned and healthy, not like goopy or madonna [all gristly]or the myriad of skeletal creatures out there….I mean, JA’s arms look solid, decidedly not ‘skinny’.

She looks great, whatever she’s doing-she obviously has, in addition to time and money, the willpower to make it happen. I’ll give her props for that. Healthy, fit looking.

  43. The Hamm is My Dream Man says:

Sugar&Spice: In that bit that she said that Kaiser didn’t understand she basically says exactly what you are saying “gimme a break to”. She says she has the freedom and money and access to work out 7 days a week whereas people who aren’t in her position can’t.

The dress isn’t stained or peed on or anything else. There is quite clearly a sheer overlay on that dress. The first layer of her dress seems to be clinging to her legs a bit so the sheer part stands away from it, creating a void which the camera picked up as a dark spot.

I don’t know if you were joking or being serious, but that was kind of gross.

I work out 7 days a week at the Y and I’m fine. I run 7 days a week. But I change up the other things I do. I had gained some weight working at my new job (about 40 pounds in a year-eeeek!) but once I found balance and started working out again, I lost it all in about 2 months from eating right and exercising. Now I’m just maintaining-so I run about 3 miles a day and do yoga and toning classes.

  44. daisy424 says:

    She’s right.
    It’s obviously working for her.

  45. padiddle says:

I don’t think we can even accurately judge what size she is, because pictures and tv shows add at least 10 lbs to a person.
And that said, she could be a six. I’m a 6 (sometimes 4, with this wretched vanity sizing) but I work out a lot so I look pretty lean, and people usually think I’m a two. She may just be a toned six.

  46. irena NL says:

The woman is vapid. Repeats the same lines year-in and year-out.

  47. Angelina says:

    @Melanie – You made a VALID point!!!
    LOL

  48. Kiska says:

Running everyday is not entirely healthy. The body does need a rest to rebuild itself.
I’m sure you must switch it up. Yoga one day, run the next, pilates etc.
In any case, the woman has a well-porportioned health figure. She looks healthy.

  49. 6 says:

San- I totally agree (except Heidi doesn’t have a butt)! Women who are so skinny and look like stick figures in bathing suits do not have “nice bodies.”
I’m not knocking super skinny women (I have been there) but having a little fat looks good no matter what tabloids try to brainwash us with.

BTW-Aniston does make me ill with the “Its simple” comment. As others have said, factor in working full time, going to school full time and raising a family then talk to me about what is simple. Good for her if she is able to keep active but don’t be a knucklehead when you open your mouth. Of course who knows how the conversation came about to even start the conversation that led her to say those things.

  50. ctkat says:

    Hmm…here’s the thing.

When Goopy talks about her diet and exercise, I want to claw out her eyes because she is so preachy and sanctimonious about it.

When Gwen Stefani talks about her diet and exercise, I like her more because she admits that she is always hungry and she spends a lot of painful hours in the gym.

Jennifer Aniston’s quote is somewhere between these two, probably a little more like Gwen than Goopy.

So…I can’t hate on this comment.

  51. Mistral says:

It’s just the way the overlay material is catching the light. Obviously she didn’t pee herself. I think she is saying that she is lucky in that her career gives her the time (and that it is sort of, like, part of the job description) to get in shape, and provides her with the access to experts to do it well. I wish my job involved experts whipping my ass into shape and making my skin glow and carrying a fricken’ wind machine after me to make my hair blow just right.

  52. Bettyboo says:

I am a size 2 here in the US but a size 6 in the UK. I just returned from a trip to the UK and everything I purchased was a size 6.

  53. Kitten says:

I think she looks damn good. Also, I work out every day :)
    Just saying…..

  54. Anon says:

I think she is simply saying as always that she works out and eats healthy. People keep asking her what she does to maintain her figure because she is in fantastic shape. But the thing is, people want to hear some secret easy trick that she has figured out, when in reality it comes down to eat less, move more, which IMHO is why she used the words, “it’s simple.”

I applaud Aniston for always stating that she works hard and eats well to get her body – she’s not pretending it’s genetics or something equally moronic like some celebs. She also acknowledges, like here, that being fit and looking good is part of her job.

For all the posters complaining that she has the time to spend working out because of her money and staff – you’re not wrong. However, this is true for all celebrities. Aniston just has the willpower and discipline that many others lack. Having the staffs they do and working out and taking care of themselves as they do is part of their job requirements/qualifications.

  55. Jane says:

Good for Jennifer! She not only looks amazing but looks fit and healthy. I believe she is just being honest that to be healthy one must live an active life style, everyday. She is not saying anything more then what other celebs like Gwen or SJP have stated in the past. Also it is her choice what her priorities are in her own life. Being fit is obviously a prioritiy for her.

  56. Shanzy says:

obsessed with size much, commenters? I thought I’d find more women saying ‘who cares what size she is..’ yikes.

  57. Madison says:

If you want a body like that then yeah you do have to work out everyday and run. I have no interest in looking like that.

  58. lw says:

she spends all that time running away from her “stalker”.

  59. Cruisin Through says:

She looks great and good for her! Is her life supposed to stop because Jolie has a movie coming out #41? Ridiculous comment.

  60. Kitten says:

Holy moly even a harmless JA post and people get heated! Dang.

  61. Nibbi says:

yeah i usually don’t even bother to read posts about her (while i openly drool all over AJ) but i have to admit she always seems pretty grounded and cool and realistic about stuff. she seems like she’d be cool to hang around with, not overly neurotic or intimidating, which is weird cuz she um works out 7 days a week?! damn… but i like that she just outright says she works hard. i too hate that “oh i eat everything” bs as well as Goop’s crazy gimmicky expensive suction-cup stuff.

  62. Mairead says:

She is right though. And this is coming from an admitted lard-arse.

I heard recently that it is recommended to do a form of exercise 7 days a week (not necessarily a balls-to-the-wall workout each day). To me it makes sense as for someone with limited willpower, it becomes habit more easily. And it’s very easy to let those rest days increase in number very quickly ;)

  63. Sarah says:

Regarding the confusion of the size. This article is from the UK sizes there are very different. I think a UK 6 is a 2 in US sizes.

  64. Camille says:

truthSF & Sugar & Spice: : I know right! So shallow and vapid.
    RHONYC: LOL
San: I agree. Sure she has toned legs, but she has no bum & waist and has square hips.
I remember seeing a picture of her from behind once in very casual clothes; loose’ish jeans and sneakers and she looked like a man from behind.
Its all smoke and mirrors folks.

I hate those shoes, ugg and that very bottom picture looks weird, they elongated her torso or something, something about it looks really weird/off.

  65. denise says:

Jennifer is aging beautifully. She looks gorgeous.

  66. hmm says:

I’ll piggyback an earlier comment and just say that all articles on Aniston revolve around how she looks or her love life and that’s kind of sad. She looks great but in Hollywood is that really surprising? Demi, Halle, Uma, Salma, Sandra, all over 40 and they all look great. It’s harder to name women in Hollywood (at any age) who are overweight, so I’m not sure why her size is even an issue. She’s single, rich, and works for part of the year so she should be in fabulous shape.

  67. Crash2GO2 says:

Hmmm. Any links that I can find don’t take the sizes down that far, but say a US Size 6 is = UK size 8. Which supposedly would make a UK size 6 = a US size 4.

I think as far as her ‘it’s simple’ statement, I think she meant it along the lines of ‘just do it’. I like that a lot better than these celebrities who go on this ridiculous juice ‘cleanses’ and weird detox retreats. Just don’t eat to much and get out there and move. Every day.

  68. Ruffian9 says:

    Heidi: Chill. It’s a UK 6.

  69. Ruffian9 says:

“Is there really nothing else to talk about with this woman?”

    No, there isn’t

  70. anon says:

@Ruffian9 “Is there really nothing else to talk about with this woman?”

    No, there isn’t

    :-)

  71. thinForDeath says:

    She forgot:

    - Stick your finger in the back of your throat and try not to get any puke on your shoes.
    - Have a specialist suck out any extra with a vacuum tube at $5k a shot.
    - Eat food that an 8 month old would eat.
    - Deny any eating disorder.

If this is true she is an effing hypocrite:

  72. Morgs says:

I love that people are on her (supposedly non-existent ass) for not having curves. The same people who drool over that flat-assed, no hips, anorexic looking scarecrow who walked the red carpet the other night.

  73. The Hamm is My Dream Man says:

thinforDeath: Did you actually read that article which you just posted?

  74. Christine says:

“I am, perhaps, fortunate in that my career, the public awareness it brings, gives me a certain freedom in this way.”
She is fortunate that, because her career allows her to be famous, she is free to make a perfume and expect that people will like her enough to try it and buy it

  75. emily says:

where did you guys read where she said what size she was?? am i blind?

  76. Morgs says:

Thin for death. You’re an idiot. Read the article you’re quoting as it directly contradicts what you’re saying.

  77. nelson says:

ive always had a love hate thing with ms anistopouloloposulus

but seriously, she has a great body, if i was a woman at her age id totally be happy with that body.

but what is her problem? cant she find a man? seriously, cant she like be a cougar or something or i dunno …something.

does she have bad breath or maybe she isnt “sexual napalm” like jessica simpson.

i mean, yes she is untalented, and doesnt deserve the A list status, but she is pretty and is loaded with moolah, she cant even keep vince vaughan (married with kid), gerard butler (no one can keep him down), brad pitt (well angelina enough said), john mayer and now that stalker dude.

sigh, jenny, i feel sorry for you but i love laughing at you.

  78. Chris says:

Do more eat less. That’ll be $1,500. Thank you.

  79. Deeley says:

For a woman who’s a plain as dishwater, and who can’t act, she’s done pretty well for herself. There’s no justice in the world.

  80. nnn says:

    #75

Well that supposed anorexic you are referring to has boobs, so she is actually curvier at the top at least…Not to mention that nobody dispute that she is skinny.

It’s just that some people think that Jennifer Aniston is getting skinny too compared to her bone structure who is heavier.

  81. Jane says:

Yes Daily Mail is a UK publication, therefore UK size 6 = US size 2 (trust me, I’m North American and live in the UK).

I love that people are on her (supposedly non-existent ass) for not having curves. The same people who drool over that flat-assed, no hips, anorexic looking scarecrow who walked the red carpet the other night.

@Morgs – I think the difference is that one has a beautiful face and other one is homely. Oh, and the other one has boobs.

Not all ocean smells are nice.
She seems so safe and boring. I don’t get the interest/appeal.

More generally, what the hell has Jennifer done to deserve such venomous messages?

Her appearance shouldn’t be subjected to such scrutiny and critism,

    It’s jealousy and it’s ugly.

  85. Egidio says:

She looks like an out cigarette out

  86. Sway says:

Of course she exercises every day. I bet it’s awfully like ‘all day every day’. What else is there for her to do? It’s not like she has a family or a life or anything…

  87. Zoe says:

@Vanda – What exactly is there to be jealous of? She has no career, no butt, no breasts and alligator skin. All she talks about is dating and how in shape she is.

  88. donna says:

Her perfume sounds good based on the description. I agree with what she says about the “other” fragrances out there, and can’t wait to try it.

  89. wanda says:

It’s obviously the fabric that’s making her dress look like that. It is curving inward at that spot so it picks up the light differently. Looks like a moiré fabric.
