Kristen Stewart wants to be taken seriously as an actress, so she’s going to sex it up

wenn5506317

This is an interesting little non-story for those of us who are not obsessed with being Bella Swan. For those people (young and old) who think that there’s a very special sparkly vampire out there, just waiting for you, well then, this story is going to be a big deal. So, you know how the Twilight series is all about grinding and kissing and sniffing necks and never, ever penetrating anything ever? All c-ockblock and no release, ever. Well, Kristen Stewart is tired of playing that. So she took a role in On the Road, and it looks like lip-biting Bella is going to get some harsh lessons in threesome etiquette. Life & Style got their hands on the script for On the Road, which Kristen is currently filming in Canada, I believe. Anyway, the script calls for Kristen (whose character is 16 years old) to act out a threesome, plus she has to watch two people having sex…? All to “break out of the mold.”

Life & Style has obtained the script for the Kristen Stewart’s steamy new movie, On the Road, based on the Jack Kerouac novel. Her character, 16-year-old Marylou, has a threesome with a couple of hotties, asks to watch two people have sex and brags about loving to perform oral sex.

Why the shocking change of pace?

“Many actors who are entering adulthood want to make their own mark and stop being seen as bubblegum, cookiecutter teen stars,” Ryan Schinman, media expert and CEO of the talent-branding agency Platinum Rye Entertainment, tells Life & Style. “Kristen likely wants to be taken more seriously as an actress — and show she’s not afraid to break out of the mold.”

[From Life & Style]

Well, good for her…? I’m kind of glad that Kristen doesn’t feel the need to twitch herself up like a Megan Fox or Ashley Green. That causes some people to call her a lesbian, which I think is the lowest common denominator of gossip: “She’s not wearing heels = lesbian.” But you can also tell that Kristen realizes that she needs some sex appeal if she’s going to have a long career – because let’s face it, she’s not her generation’s Meryl Streep (plus, Meryl does have sex appeal along with insane talent). Maybe Kristen will really go for broke and shock the hell out of people with her performance as a threesome-loving jailbait wife. Or maybe she’ll just bit her lip through every scene.

  1. Ally says:

What’s more serious than playing a sex object that performs porn type of sex and is handed from one man to another.

It takes “acting skills” to play a slut which she should know by now since most of her roles are anyway promiscuous.

  2. Michael says:

People call her a lesbian because everyone in her circle knows it and this fauxmance she plays is just to secure her career.
But continue keeping the Twihard’s fantasy alive.

  3. jen says:

I’m skeptical of a film version of On The Road, but I do like Kristen.

  4. Loser1 says:

    Aw, I like KStew & don’t get all the hate. I don’t think she’s a lesbian either.

  5. missmilly says:

Her eye makeup is WAY pretty on the first picture…sexy!

  6. Ted C. says:

There is no straighter woman on this planet but her. Not one.

She never hits on her female co-stars during interviews or DVD-commentaries.

    Trust

  7. Mia says:

Maybe she should stop flipping the paps off, shrug off the attention, and stop acting like the moodiest chick in the game today. She has a pretty sweet life for someone with barely discernible talent. Just a thought.

  8. Eileen says:

I can’t say I understand anyone getting excited about seeing her 12 year old boy body type getting naked or sexual at all.

  9. meme says:

Getting naked and pretending to have sex is NOT the way to be considered a serious actress. Ask Jessica Biel.

  10. Cam says:

If she wants to be taken seriously as an actress, she has to stop biting her lip and rolling her eyes, would that be possible?.

  11. She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named says:

I like her, just watched ‘The Cake Eaters’ and she was great, she’s talented.

So not being a total trashy, attention-seeking bimbo makes her a lesbian? I like how she’s supportive of other actresses during interviews, I don’t think that means she’s hitting on them ffs.

  12. Meh says:

Kristen Stewart is thought to be a closeted lesbian for more that just “not wearing heels”. There are myriad incidents, in addition to her mannerism and gait, which lead people to that conclusion.
I believe she is atleast bi-sexual. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

  13. Praise St. Angie! says:

“There are myriad incidents, in addition to her mannerism and gait, which lead people to that conclusion.”

can you be more specific on the “incidents”?

It’s just that I also don’t get a gay vibe from her and I’ve never heard of any “incidents” that would lead me to think she’s gay.

  14. nan says:

Why do actresses feel they have to remove their clothes on-screen to be taken seriously? Either you can act or you can’t!

  15. original kate says:

i think she’s pretty, but i don;t think i’ve ever seen her in anything other thanthe movie where she played jodie foster’s daughter.and i don’t an “angry dyke” vibe at all. not really sure why someone would say that.

  16. Meh says:

@Praise – I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post links here, but:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFxZKgKfJnU

There are other similar things out there but I’m at the office and I don’t have time to search.
I also don’t care enough one way or the other.

  17. Praise St. Angie! says:

Meh, while I appreciate you posting that video, I’d hardly call that evidence of her being gay.

that’s clearly friends in a car getting silly with each other.

and you referred to a “myriad” of incidents like this, but I have yet to see even one that would be a good indicator that she is, in fact, gay.

honestly, if there were some concrete evidence that she were gay (like the “myriad” of incidents you refer to), wouldn’t it be OUT by now?

EDIT: aenflex, I didn’t think she was good as Bella, either, but that’s because my impression of Bella from the books was different. I just saw her in “Adventureland”, and I thought she was pretty good in that.

  18. aenflex says:

Who cares if she is gay? What’s that got to do with talent? What’s wrong with lesbians all of a sudden? Jeesh!

Point is, she can’t act. I don’t know why people disillusion themselves into thinking that she can. Unless it’s really just me, which could very well be the case. So I guess I should say that personally, I think she sucks as an actress, every emotion is forced, every expression just a little off key and not befitting the emotions of the character she is supposed to be playing. And no I don’t just mean Bella, though I think she sucked at Bella too. Also think Meyer cannot write worth a poo but that’s another story.
Here’s to hoping that she gets better, cause it doesn’t look like she’s going anywhere soon.

  19. hmmm says:

She’s considered a lesbian because she played one in a movie. She took on Joan’s mannerisms (no pun intended) extremely well and had a hard time shaking them. Since she did such a great portrayal of a lesbian, she must be one?!? If she’s a lesbian we should hate her?!?

A girl who would rather wear jeans, had her hair cut short, played a lesbian, is non-Hollywood, is dating the hot guy that anyone would date is going to be cut down in any way, shape or form. People will continue to find new ways to throw barbs at her.

It seems petty. It reeks of jealousy when people rip on her. When someone like Lohan gets ripped on, I understand. But Kristen Stewart? I just don’t get it.

By the way, using ‘she’s a lesbian’ as an insult is pretty lame. Are people really that ignorant?

  20. Denise says:

I don’t hate Kristen because I’m jealous of her or because she goes against the typical Hollywood stereotypes; I cant stand her because she’s always twitching and complaining. She constantly complains about the paparazzi she should know that she can either get over it or do something about it . But instead she decides to sit around and cry about it. She complains about everything even though she’s the one that chose this life no one forced her to be an actor. She needs to grow up!

  21. mollination says:

Well I thought The Runaways was great and I she wasn’t bubblegum in that. I don’t actually understand why Kristen didn’t get more credit for her role in that — I think people didn’t want to admit that she did kind of an amazing job as Joan Jett and want to push her down a little bit more. She’s talented and lovely, and I adore her non-sexually agressive personal style.

  22. Jane says:

She could be a lesbian, straight or bi. Her casual style and manners etc don’t really lean one way or the other. She’s just not one of the girly lollypop heads who feels they have to have make up on all the time and wear whorish clothes to get her pic in the paper. She’s laid back and easy going. I wish more up and comming actresses where like her. I am looking forward to all the twilight insanity being over, so she can continue to show her real acting skills, or lack there of.

  23. lucy2 says:

Haven’t seen Runaways, but she was pretty good in Adventureland. The problem is her Twilight role is too big (and lame, IMO), that’s all she’ll be known for, at least for a while. Slutty roles aren’t going to change that.

  24. Riley says:

My gaydar doesn’t go off and I have spectacular gaydar. Though in these pictures she does look a little like Clea DuVall (who does make my gaydar go off WAY off (in a good way;-)) Anyway, if K Stew is gay she just got a whole lot more interesting and I may need to start watching those twilight films.

  25. Brooke says:

I fail to see what she could possibly bring to an idea already as ill-advised as doing a movie adaptation of On the Road. None of the above-described action occurs in the book, and frankly, her character is barely a blip in the story. This article makes me ever more fearful of how monumental this f-ckup is going to be. That book is one of the greats. 🙁

  26. Jeri says:

I like her & I think she does a good job of ignoring all the BS. That said, it’s a good idea to shake things up, especially WITHOUT going the RomCom route. That route is saturated enough older actresses (older then her).

  27. Kit says:

All the pretty little actresses do this when they decide it’s time to be seen as being “all growed up”.

They will play hookers, pole dancers, lesbians, slutty teenagers, or all of the above. The reasons for this are two-fold: These are more adult-type roles and, most importantly, they give the guys an eye full.
Guys want to look at t*ts, *ss, threesomes, and lesbian sex; and the “actress” who wants to announce that “hey, I’m of age and I’m pretty” will do what the men like.

Taking your kit off tells the world that you’re a Serious Actress. HAHAHAHAHA!

  28. gabs says:

I like her.I read she got that on the road gig way before twilight so I doubt its an attempt to “sex it up”. Look, the twilight films suck no matter who was cast. Shes good in adventureland, the runaways..i think people are too hasty with their “she cant act” stuff. I mean there are many worse actresses and when celebitchy posts about them, no one calls out their acting. I think its subjective but whatever.

I wear jeans and sneakears and shirts and no makup. Im straight. I think the reason everyone is like “shes a lesbo” is because were used to seeing pap photos of the vain bimbo celebritys with their heels and handbags. I think shes straight and the rpattz thing isnt fake. It isnt a Zanessa situation

  29. FMK says:

@Brooke. there is an unedited version of “On The Road” that includes real names and sexual incidents not in the copy you probably read in school.

and i doubt she took this role to take her clothes off. I’d want to be in On The Road if I were an actor. it’s a classic!

  30. Kaiser says:

BTW, and just FYI: I can’t catch every bad comment instantly, so when someone calls someone else an “angry dyke” that is the perfect time to report a comment.

  31. Madison says:

I think she’s a good actress but she needs to try other roles besides the slutty, naked ones because they are the opposite of Bella. The problem for her with taking on the slutty roles is nobody wants to see them, that movie she did where she was a hooker/pole dancer still hasn’t found a distributor and probably will go straight to DVD.

  32. Googe says:

This needs to be said: The word ‘lesbian’ is not an insult! However, ‘Angry dyke’is! Who even called her that? Even people who don’t have gaydar get a gay vibe from her. Shippers get over it. Everyone get over it. If she comes out as gay/bi I’d love her. Other than that I’m looking forward to this OTR movie even though the book has been an immense snoozefest.

  33. Iggles says:

    I agree with Googe.

I have *terrible* gaydar when it comes to women (with guys, I can usually tell). As a result, I’m usually surprised when female celebs come out. When Kristin does, I won’t be.

  34. e says:

perhaps learning to act would make people take her more seriously as an actress.

when she talks and acts the same as bella swan and as joan jett, just with different make up and costume, it really doesn’t make me think of her as a serious anything.

whether she prefers guys or girls…how does that tie in to her inabilities on the big screen?

  35. enviro says:

hmmmmmm, I agree with your comment. I don’t pretend to be objective as a twilighter — I’m too grateful to her for taking the role of Bella seriously. But I thoroughly enjoyed her in Adventureland and The Runaways as well. The notion she’s taking it to sex things up I think is absurd. But then again if you believe what you read in Life and Style you deserve what you get.

  36. mike says:

She is an excellent actress for her age, and yes, Kaiser, she very well could be this generation’s Meryl Streep, if given chance and experience.

Plus, Meryl took a while to break into the game and hit her stride, whereas Kstew has been a natural from the beginning. Really, could Meryl have done better job as Joan Jett as a 19 yr old? Maybe, maybe not.

  37. Annabelle says:

not afraid to break out of mold? um… getting more sexualized IS the mold. She is not breaking out of anything.

Its so disrespectful to women to say “i want to be taken seriously — I’m going to sex it up”

If you have to sex it up to be taken seriously, there is something wrong.

  38. Chris says:

Listen up to anyone who doesn’t realize this yet, the Kristen is a lesbian thing is mostly said by the same people who want Rob to be single under any circumstance. Did anyone say anything about her before when she had a steady boyfriend for 3 years? No. Get a clue people and stop making these people seem legit.

  39. Anj says:

Patty is Gay. Kristen is lesbian.
There is nothing wrong with that.
    but thats the truth.

  40. Lenore says:

I suddenly feel really old because, you know, I remember the days when a young actress starting out had to do nudity because she wasn’t famous, just to get work, and then when she’d made it, she got to keep her clothes on and tell producers “no nudity”.

When did it start working the other way around? When did onscreen nudity become a sign that you’re a Serious Actress?

If Kristen Stewart wants to be taken seriously as an actress, maybe acting lessons would be more useful than tits?

  41. Vicky Cathay says:

In order for her to be taken seriously as an actress, she is going to have to:
    1. learn to deliver an intelligible line
    2. learn to act
Gay/straight, pretty/not, who cares? It’s time people who call themselves “actors”, learn to, instead of riding the hype their handlers drum up to distract us from their deficiencies, in order to make themselves more money.

  42. catherine says:

She was the sister in Zathura. She was frozen in most of the movie so cant assess her talents (or her sexuality).

  43. NO!! says:

The dress in the first photo is the black version Amanda Seyfried wore a couple months ago.

  44. JaNa'e says:

i just don’t think she can act, and maybe its just me but when i see pictures of her the word trailpark ALWAYS pops in my head

  45. CB Rawks says:

    Yeah, The Montana Fishburne Theory.
Kristen probably thinks she’s the first to try the idea too. Even Molly Ringwald went there.

  46. marisol says:

people are acting like kristen is “acting out” by taking the role. Do any of you realize who the f*ck Jack Kerouac is? Or what “On the Road” is? Or who Coppola or Salles are? I mean, this isn’t rocket science, this isn’t about Kristen “acting out” and pulling a MIley. This is about KRisten being offered a very enviable role for a project that is 30 years in the making. You tell me what actress in her position would turn down the iconic role of Mary Lou(the ONLY female character who is given any sort of memorable qualities and can keep up with the boys) because ewww….there’s some sex scenes in it? She’s 20 years old, for crying out loud, it’s not like she’s 16 or something.

  47. Dee says:

To begin with, KS has been in enough movies to say “she can’t act” We are not being too hasty. She has the same mannerisms in every movie. 2nd, OTR is a big sleepfest, can’t imagine sitting through 2 hours of that movie. MaryLou is not a large part of the book…perfect part for KS. She needs to embrace the co-star characters, because she cannot open a movie. Once the Twilight Saga is over, I think she’ll fade into low budget Indie films.

  48. serena says:

I just hate those teens who think : “I’m sick of my present so I will shock everybody doing something pervert, idiotic, dirty, to change my image.”

    Really, who cares?
It’s not like doing a threesome will let her gain fame.

  49. marta says:

Kristen did not take on this role to “sex up” her image. On the Road is one of the most iconic books in American literature. It is also one of Kristen’s favorite books. She has mentioned this many times in interviews.
As for the gay labeling? Um, she was in a 3 year relationship with a guy before she became involved with Pattinson. Interestingly enough, no one ever made these claims before Twilight. Now that she is Rob Pattinson’s steady girlfriend, all the loons who want Rob for themselves are now screaming she’s a “lesbian.” Not that it matters what her sexual orientation is in real life, but I have never seen anything that even remotely suggests she favors girls over guys.

  50. kstewfan says:

    #46 Marisol,

You said everything I wanted to say. The rest of you need to do some research on the book, the author, the movie project, the director, the producter, the script, etc.

The people behind this film are some of the heavyweights in hollywood.

Every article I have ever read about Kristen with comments from her Directors, Producers, and even fellow actors have praised Kristen, her ACTING abilities and professionalism. There are directors lining up to work with Kristen and took projects because she is in them.

They are the people who count, not people who post on the internet.

Did everyone forget that there is a director who tells the actors what they want them to do?

Kristen was fantastic in The Runaways. I loved her in Adventureland also.

I cannot wait to see Kristen’s future projects and how she matures as an actress.
