I haven’t really formed an opinion about Reese Witherspoon newish boyfriend Jim Toth. This is the guy she started dating about two seconds after she and Jake Gyllenhaal split – and I think they’ve been going out for maybe most of the year…? Like seven or eight months. There has been no gushing, no big famewhore moves, no formal roll-out in People Magazine. They are photographed every once and a while and seem to be enjoying a very low-key relationship. So it wouldn’t surprise me whatsoever to learn that they are going to be engaged soon – In Touch Weekly reports that Jim has been shopping for rings:
Nearly eight months after he started dating Reese Witherspoon, agent Jim Toth has been spotted at several high-end jewelry stores in Hollywood — and he’s been shopping for the perfect engagement ring!
“Reese wasn’t with him, because he wants it to be a surprise,” says a friend of Jim’s. “But he knows her style. The ring will be classic and beautiful, just like Reese herself.”
The pal says the couple has been talking marriage constantly, and In Touch recently reported that they have undergone religious premarital counseling together.
“Still, he wants the proposal to be unexpected,” says the insider, adding, “It will happen in the next few weeks.”
It will be the second trip down the aisle for Reese, 34, who split from Ryan Phillippe in 2006 after seven years of marriage. She dated Jake Gyllenhaal until 2009, but Reese “never considered marrying Jake,” says the pal. “She loved him, but wasn’t passionate about him. Jim is her ultimate guy.”

From what I know of this Jim Toth dude – an agent, a behind-the-scenes power-player – he seems like a good match to Reese’s self-professed anal-rententiveness and near OCD. She’s Type A all the way, and the dude she’s with better be too, or else be willing to put up with it. It might be nice to see her with someone who gets her out of that Type A shell, but I think that’s what Jake was to her, and that didn’t turn out well in the end. And I really respect that Reese is the kind of woman who doesn’t need to date “up” or date “famous.” She found a dude who is happy to be behind the scenes and they seem really tight. Good for them.

Ahh, that’s the first pic I’ve seen of him. I think he’s cute. And I know a lot of people can’t stand Reese, and I’d probably want to run away screaming if I had to be around her all of the time, but she seems nice. Grounded. Not full of the famewhore so, eh, I hope she’s happy!

Well rumour has it that Reese & Jim were secretly dating almost the whole time she was bearding for Jake. So the relationships not as new as some think so after 2 or 3 years, I can see them being ready to get married. She just got tired of hiding the relationship (or maybe Jim demanded it or he’d walk)so she kicked Jake to the curb when the relationship was no longer beneficial to her.

I don’t think Jake is gay .I think the whole rumour started because he was too good in Brokeback Mountain and he likes to go to basketball games with his friend. Just another reason why Ted C is an epic A hole. But about Reese and Jake he is better off because she is a control freak. She should be with someone who isn’t famous and has something else in his life, and this guy might be good for her.

Actually Sumodo1, my dad bought my mother a lovely new set of china and stemware. He picked it out himself, and he is far from gay.
Just because a man may do things other men don’t does not make them gay.
Odd, so many bashing the Enquirer for calling out Travolta as being gay, but no one has a problem with Ted C or anyone here speculating on Jake’s sexuality.

Who cares if Jake Gyllenhaal is gay? Hollywood is homophobic still so if he did come out, his career would go down the drain like a lead balloon.. Like name five leading male actors who are openly gay. I can’t think of any. Once someone “outs” themselves, audiences find it hard to see them as “straight”. I’m not saying its fair, but that seems to be the way Hollywood works.
I think Jake is really sweet so people should let him get on with his own life whether he’s gay, bi, straight..like whatever.
And I don’t get the hate for Reese. She prob is a type A personality but so what? She’s successful and seems to be a good parent to her two kids.

I have no facts to support my antipathy for this Toth guy but he raises red flags for. me. I don’t like how she dresses like him when she’s with him, and how she appears to cater to him while he scowls. I smell an emotional bully in this guy.
