OK! Magazine is claiming that Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are about to get engaged “any day now.” The pair have been dating for what seems like forever in Hollywood, and impending marriage rumors have been dogging them since day one. Well that, and “they’re not really a couple” rumors. And “he’s gay,” rumors. And “they’re just doing it for publicity” rumors. But the last three of those have faded away over the last six months or so, as the couple seemingly has no reason to stay together except that they’re in love.
Sitting in a cozy booth at the Hominy Grill in Charleston, S.C., on May 3, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal were the picture of happiness. Though the cheery couple, who arrived holding hands, brought their appetites, their minds weren’t on food. “They couldn’t keep their eyes off each other,” Hominy Grill manager Brandy Mangum tells OK!. “The entire time, he was so attentive. It was really sweet. They really do make the perfect couple.”
Friends of the pair say it won’t be long now before Jake pops the question to his lady love. “They’ve been talking marriage for a while,” a source close to Reese reveals to OK!. “They’ll be formally engaged any day now. They want to spend the rest of their lives together.”
But don’t expect these two to go down the route of so many Hollywood couples who move in together and start families before getting hitched. “This is a very serious relationship,” the Oscar-winner’s pal explains. “But Reese is very conservative and traditional. I’m sure she doesn’t want her kids to see her ‘living in sin.’”

From what most people say about Jake Gyllenhaal, he’s pretty conservative and traditional too. I never really understood why people thought Reese and Jake weren’t really a couple. Their timing was pretty coincidental, given the release of their movie Rendition. But they seem to make a lot of sense together, in many ways that Reese and ex-husband Ryan Phillippe didn’t.
Jake’s rep told OK! that there were no “immediate plans for a wedding.” Which is at least better than a no comment. And to me, that just says they’re not eloping next week. There has also been a lot of “Is Reese pregnant” gossip lately. I bet they’ll be getting engaged any day now.
It is REALLY hard to get a picture of Reese and Jake together. I’m not sure if they’re one of those couple that go out of their way not to be photographed together or what, but the best I could find are pictures of them 8 feet apart. Maybe that’s what led to some of those other rumors. Here they are out for dinner with friends on the Lower East Side in New York City on March 3rd. Images thanks to Splash.

I never bought any of those rumors from day one, cause they just seem to make sense as a couple. I’m not surprised to hear they might be getting married, but I am happy for them.

It’s kind of odd that she’s in Charleston hanging out with her current man, considering she married Ryan Phillippe here. (I live in Charleston now.) I mean, I guess if he’s here making a movie, that makes sense, but I don’t think I’d want to hang out where I started a failed marriage.

Reese Witherspoon is a big gentrifier. She definitely doesn’t belong on Sullivan’s Island, SC. That island used to be very low-key until all the rich people came along and destroyed it.

I kind of like them together! Finally, a couple that doesn’t shack up and start popping out kids before they’re married. They’re like the least trashy celebrity couple out there. I wish her the best.

I never understood why he was always rumored to be gay. They seem to work with each other. Ryan was her girl love and Jake seems like her grown adult love.

‘Gentrifier’ must be the 50 cent college word of the week, last week it was ‘misandrist’ and according to my automated spell-checker, they aren’t even PROPER WORDS.
