Ashton Kutcher isn’t really denying Star Mag’s cheating story

As we reported earlier today, Star Magazine’s cover story this week is all about the dramatic confession by a 21-year-old LA random that she and Ashton boned one night when Demi Moore was out of town. I know some of you think that the rumors are crap, or that Ashton and Demi might even be playing around, trying to get attention, but I doubt it. I’m getting the same sick-to-my-stomach feeling that I got when I was writing about the first story in the National Enquirer about Tiger Woods and his little mistress a day before last year’s Thanksgiving. As in, gut-check reality: this sh-t is probably true on some level. Ashton is likely screwing around. Anyway, since the latest Star report came out, neither Ashton nor Demi has gotten on their Twitter accounts to mount some douchey, asinine defense. Instead, Ashton’s lawyer sent out a statement:

Ashton Kutcher’s attorney is slamming tabloid Star, which reports in its latest issue that he has cheated on wife Demi Moore at least twice. A 21-year-old girl is quoted as saying that she “made love on his living room couch while Demi was out of town.”

In a statement, Kutcher’s lawyer, Marty Singer, tells UsMagazine.com: “Star Magazine continuously publishes lies about Ashton Kutcher and many other celebrities. This is not the first, nor will it be the last time they engage in reckless conduct.”

It is the second story Star has run alleging Kutcher, 32, had an affair. Another article this month claimed he had a fling with “a sexy, young, 20-something.”

Kutcher quickly took to Twitter to refute that report (which Star has refused to retract).
“I think Star magazine calling me a ‘cheater’ qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees,” he wrote. “STAR magazine – you don’t get to stand behind ‘freedom of the press’ when you are writing fiction.”

Moore, 47, Twittered him back, “Excellent point my love!”

Kutcher and Moore, who first met in 2003, celebrate their five-year wedding anniversary Sept. 24.

[From Us Weekly]

Um… so the statement basically says Star is always full of sh-t, so why not with this story? Which it might be, sure. But if you’re going to have your lawyer release a statement, why not have it be an announcement of a lawsuit? If everything is such bullsh-t, why not sue? Instead, Ashton just paid his lawyer $500 an hour to release a pretty boilerplate denial – except that it’s not really a denial, since there is no mention of this one story in particular being false. It’s just about the history of falsehoods from Star Magazine. My gut check says there’s something there. My gut check says that this story is causing some problems between Demi and Ashton.

point of order: you never “make love” on a living room couch.

    I call BS.

  2. TQB says:

    I smell an open marriage.

  3. jzhz says:

You know, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with an older woman dating a younger man, and I don’t think the age difference is a reason/excuse for cheating. I also don’t think her looks or her age should matter. What matters is who he has access to – he is a “celebrity” who has money in Hollywood, any number of women would want to hook up with him (or men who would want to hook up with her). In this case, I think it’s all about opportunity.

  4. Rex says:

I don’t see what anyone sees in this guy anyway. I think their whole marriage is a sham.

  5. tiki says:

sure appears that mr kutcher is tired of gnawing on sinewy cougar meat and is feasting on tender kitten morsals. so who says one pu$$y is as good as another?

  6. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Isn’t it hard to sue American tabloids? Which is why celebs never do. I don’t know why its hard but it just is. No celeb that I know of has sued an American tabloid. I doubt Ashton will neither and I think its BS he would touch a skank like that. I mean goodness I should hope he have some higher damn standards. I am gonna put my faith in Ashton and not let another ass, Tiger Wood, change my opinion of Ashton.

  7. Rita says:

Non-denial denials usually mean “Yes, the horny little toad has been with her since he was 15 so what do you expect.” At least Demi wasn’t on the couch watching televsion while he was boning his tart.

  8. LittleFATMe says:

My, my. Another one bites the dust.

  9. la chica says:

i don’t think either of them have ever stayed away from twitter this long. heck they probably twitter in their sleep! my guess is that there is a colossal fight going down in that household right about now.

but how long did Demi realistically think she could keep him? i know that she is a striking-looking woman but he has always impressed me as being bored easily.

  10. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

I have long suspected this marriage was a big ol’ sham. They, imo, are the most repulsive celebrity couple out there.

  11. Ursaline says:

She probably prefers not to know if he gets attention from other women and with it being thrown out in the tabloids like this, it will force her to do something to save face.

If she lets go of her controlling tendencies with him around, then it’s going to hurt her even more if he’s cheating. They’ve probably had some kind of understanding since the beginning, but I smell trouble brewing.

  12. guesty says:

    they are so over.

  13. Kaboom says:

Suing a tabloid over libel is like bitching at mud for swallowing your boot.

  14. Pretty1908 says:

im sorry but every man wants a kid sooner or later so him marrying her was just odd for me…. her eggs are gone rofl

  15. Leticia says:

Even if he did cheat, I doubt that Demi’s ego would allow her to entertain the thought that he was unfaithful to her. I think that she has officially entered the ignorance is bliss stage of life.

In some bizarre way, this is starting to remind me of Street Car Named Desire, with her as Blanche and with him as Stanley.

  16. Kim says:

Poor Demi that’s why she posted that pic of herself in bikini Desperate cry for attn from her boytoy

  17. Cam says:

    Again: It’s BS.

  18. PsychicEyes says:

As I had posted earlier my intuition tells me that these two are going to be splitville in the New Year. My premonition tells me that the gossip magazines will be releasing more stories in the upcoming days — what a terrible way to maximum newspaper sales. What I am feeling is that Demi opened up to much on this relationship from the get-go on how happy and solid they are. This only backfired because a) this set the gossip hounds looking for dirt, and b) it left her vulnerable in case of crap like this. Really sad.

  19. RHONYC says:

the lad doth protest too much. 🙁

  20. Annie says:

First of all, Lola- You made me blow my diet cherry limeaid out of my nose. ROFLMAO

Second- Every dick in Hollywood just went limp now that every Skankwhore has figured out they can get rich by calling the Cheaters out.TOTALLY AWESOME!

Third- Why in the world Demi would believe that some dude in his 20’s would stay loyal/true to her tired old ass is beyond anyone. Including Asston.

  21. dvz says:

    @loveangelina

Carol Burnett won against the National Enquirer. From wiki:

Burnett drew attention in 1981, when she sued the National Enquirer for libel after the tabloid newspaper described her alleged public drunkenness, purportedly with Henry Kissinger. Carol was particularly sensitive to the accusations because of her parents’ own alcoholism. The case was a landmark for libel cases involving celebrities, although the unprecedented $1.6 million verdict for Burnett was reduced to about $800,000 on appeal.

She donated a portion of that award to the University of Hawaii and University of California at Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism saying she hoped the suit would teach aspiring journalists the dangers of defaming individuals in articles. The money was used to fund Law and Ethics courses at the school. Burnett said at the time that she didn’t care if she just won “car fare”, and that the lawsuit was a matter of principle.

  22. Marjalane says:

Meh. He’d be screaming from the rooftops if he had anything to back up his innocence. Here’s a tip Ashton: If you weren’t such a douchbag, people wouldn’t be so happy to see you fall!

  23. Jeri says:

Must be a monumental issue if they are not twittering about it.

  24. Hautie says:

Could he really been dumb enough to let some random jumpoff in their home?

    Has he lost his mind?

And no I don’t think Demi has agreed to an open marriage.

  25. Bella1 says:

Have you ever seen him interviewed – he’s an idiot. I can see where they both would get bored with each other.

  26. spanks says:

Im guessing there’s some truth to this one since Demi hasnt twittered about it yet. There’s no way they would put this out there as a publicity stunt, Demi wouldnt have it that way.
I think she’ll deny this in the same way she denies all her plastic surgery.

  27. maggiegrace says:

I could care less….BUT look at EVERY picture of him. He looks like he showers, shakes his overgrown hair and is good to go. Could the man get a DECENT HAIRCUT??? He looks like such a punk — i’d be embarrassed if I were her, especially with daughters their ages. Surely she could do better?!?!?

  28. dvz says:

@Bella1 I agree, and she’s not particularly intelligent either. Maybe that’s why it has lasted as long as it has.

  29. koala says:

ugh. i’m picturing demi moaning in bed with that terrible tranny voice of hers.

    *shudders*

  30. Jezi says:

I’m with TQB, I believe Demi is well aware of Ashton’s inappropriateness. I don’t think she’s innocent either. I don’t think her and Bruce Willis were monogamous. I think she looks great, however, the bikini pic was a little childish. I had hoped they would stay together but nowadays things don’t seem to be working out.

  31. COD says:

I think he is doing this on purpose because he wants out and wants to find someone to have kids with.

  32. ghostbuster says:

thanks dvz! loveangelina got me thinking and i was wondering the same thing too. thanks for taking the time to do the research.
im not a big ashton or demi fan. i hope this isnt true just because it seems like a cheating epidemic. if they were the type of celebrities that try to stay out of the lymelight i would really feel bad for them to have all of this publicity over this. who knows maybe they planted the story themselves. they do come across a little spiedi-ish in the whole famewhore dept.

  33. DeanJolie says:

he looks young for his age. she looks like she’s his mom. i’d be skanking it up after five years fo sho.

  34. mercy says:

I used to like her (based on movies I’ve seen her in), and then she sent those twitter photos of herself in a bikini, and now I just think she’s an insecure egomaniac.

  35. mercy says:

He’s got a beautiful face … was excellent in “Personal Effects” with Michelle Pfeiffer, brooding and socially uncomfortable, which somehow made him so sexy. I don’t like his arrogance.

  36. 2centsnichols says:

she has to let him do what he wants. she’s going to be his grandmothers age soon. open marriage much….

  37. Mistral says:

Maybe he’s sick of denying the same story, recycled over and over, and feels that his statement calling everything they write “crap” pretty much covers everything they’ve ever said or will say about him?

  38. K.at says:

Totally believe it-these two seem like two of the most narcissistic, egotistical people in Hollywood(and ain’t that saying something?), and I think at this point, Demi is trying to save face. She used to be the role model for “cougars” but 7 years later, it looks like she is not as invinceable as she once believed.

Also, this is just a total sidenote-isn’t she supposedly sober? I remember reading a couple of interviews with her, or maybe Bruce Willis, where she stated that she was an alcoholic and had not touched alcohol in years. However, just a week or two ago, there were pics f her and Ashton at some party and she had a beer in her hand. So what’s up with that? Anyone know- is she cured?

  39. Juice in LA says:

I am 100% positive the reason Ass-mi are being mum on this one is that they are following lawyer’s orders and likely are fighting for retraction or gearing up for a law suit.

  40. Crash2GO2 says:

@Juice: Their quietness is certainly a red flag, because Lord knows that under normal circumstances these two don’t know when to shut up.

    Something’s up.

Whoever said that soon she will be his grandmother’s age is an idiot btw. He is getting older right along with her, and so is his grandmother.

  41. randel says:

yep he woke up before her one morning, looked over at Demi looking all of her 47 years old and thought to himself “damn, i need some fresh meat!” and he got some the very first chance he got. i know these things because i was once 27 dating a 40 y/o hot body cougar. you have a chance to take a close look when you’re done.

  42. buell says:

I’d be checking that couch with a black light if I were Demi….

  43. gemmaa says:

can i just give a *shudder* to all involved. Please and thanks.

  44. Marjalane says:

Ooooooohhhhh#38! (sorry can’t read your name)

I do remember Demi talking about being sober! I think her mother was an alcoholic and she saw herself going that way….this was way back in the 90’s. I thinks it’s a nice thought that they’re being quiet because they’re gearing up for a (cough) lawsuit, but these two are genetically incapable of discretion, soooooo no. I guess they’re imperfect like the rest of us.

  45. Camille says:

Totally buy that he is cheating. And yep something must be up if they aren’t shouting from the rooftops about it.

  46. 2centsnichols says:

@crash2go2 ever hear of sarcasm?? geez lighten up

  47. Maritza says:

I doubt those two will be together when she hits 50, there is so much she can do to look young and frankly her face is looking her age. Her chiclet teeth aren’t helping either.

  48. lisa says:

I don’t know much about them. I have never been a huge fan of Demi..I think she focused too much on her body and not making good film choices. she seems to think a good fit body will get you parts in a film..NOPE people can see fit bodies everyday in real life for free. It does not sell movie tickets, and Demi nor Ashton have either had a lot of success lately.. I don’t understand all the tweeting these two do.

I don’t know if this is true or not. I see the same stories week, month and year regarding certain celebs.. the thing is STAR put a face to this story. And now when celebs cheat the male/female comes out. There is money to be made.. Fame to seek. So now we have a face and a story. That makes it a bit different. This reminds me of Fergie and her husband (Josh? not sure of his name) but same thing.. But they are still together.. and the story went away along with the woman. No lawsuits just a denial and hanging with his wife. I to this day don’t know if that was true or not. But he stopped talking about it and it ended. Ashton is giving this story legs with all the speculation on lawsuits. The rags have printed WAY more nasty stuff about Brad/Angelina and they don’t sue or acknowledge. I think he should have said it is a lie and let it go. But now it is going to be bigger because people are waiting and weighing in on whether he should sue or not.

They have been married 5 years.. I actually for some reason thought it was longer. They need to rise above this sh*t and just live their lives. The best revenge is a long relationship.. which in itself calls the rags Liars..

sorry long post.. but oh well..

  49. PsychicEyes says:

One final comment on the tabloid mags reporting celebrities’ infedilities. My intuition tells me that the tabloid magazines are going to make huge profits in sales in 2011 because of the list of stories they going to expose. Sadly, I see the crap is really going to hit the fan for one particular young celebrity couple with two kids (don’t ask because I am not going to say whom). What some celebs fail to understand is that there is high price to pay when you market the hell out of your relationship and kids for profits while giving the appearance of a perfect couple. Folks, you have not seen anything yet — the nefarious vultures will be having a glutness feast in 2011.

  50. Melissa says:

@koala – I’ve always loved her voice! Very sexy – I wish I had a raspy voice like that!

  51. Bullett says:

Me thinks the end is near for these two…. I kind of see him as a worthless clown anyway….he would probably have a better career working as a waiter in a trendy restaurant in NYC. I mean, how much does he get paid per tweet? As for DM, I think she’s got talent, and in the past did some decent work. The problem is if you can’t reconcile being age appropriate in your life, how do people hire you for acting parts that would require you to play an age apropriate character and part? I wonder if she could handle a script where she’s partnered with a fifty year old? Given her extensive public persona, would she be taken seriously in that sort of a role? Given that, going forward she might be better off without him.

  52. Lynda says:

    What a douche!

  53. Lia says:

He’s married to a woman who is old enough to be his mother. That was probably exciting back when they married and he was immature. Now that he’s maturing, he’s probably looking at her more clearly. She’s old enough to be his mother. Ewww…

  54. lala in nYc says:

I don’t know. I feel like Ashton always looks very smug. And I’ve never liked his Punk’d show. In terms of karma, that show was really mean and hard for me to watch. Wonder how much equity he’s got in Hollywood and how many people he’s burned bridges with.

Do hope Demi doesn’t get hurt. I know what it’s like to date a younger guy. Never easy.

  55. Buddha DeCat says:

    Someone better tell those two Einstein’s that they have “freedom of the press” wrong: Star Magazine would have to have known the story was false AND published it with malicious intent. That is a very difficult burden to prove (and Ashton would have to be the one proving it). So, basically, you made no point, my love. {rolls eyes}

  56. aenflex says:

Of course he cheated. 10 bucks says she knows about it already.

  57. Xx says:

#38 you may be on to something. The bikini pics, the weird stage dancing video. Maybe signs of drunken regrettable behavior and the drunkeness may be from the stress of a dissolving marriage. I sense a downward spiral for these two.

  58. RoxnRoll says:

    @Buddha DeCat: ROFL!!!!!! 🙂

  59. John W Sharp says:

Ashton is a new and improved species of man. He has evolved. He seems so non- violent, so gentle: so laid back, relaxed, and comfortable in his own skin.

Ashton lives in a world where he does not have to defend himself. A place where there is no fighting, and men don’t have to be macho.

He is not arrogant; his polished and confident manner comes from
    his extaordinary self-image.

His masculenity is made up of the finer human qualities that set us apart from the animals.

  60. Anti-icon says:

#6 Love Angelina. No, it is not difficult to sue an American tabloid and win. Journalism classes all throughout America cite the Carol Burnett case as an example of a tabloid that said she was drunk in public; she was not. She sued. She won the judgement (which was much lower than what she paid to mount the defense). She donated the judgement to a charity.

This is how it should occur if your reputation is so important, then the celebrity should mount the defense and it can be played out in private to protect the privacy of the public figure. This is how the 1st Amendment works for public figures.

  61. ak says:

    CHEATER!
