Rachel McAdams & Michael Sheen are totally on, say Canadians

Back during the Toronto Film Festival, LaineyGossip had some interesting scoop on a would-be new, hot, interesting couple. Apparently, Michael Sheen and Rachel McAdams were all up on each other at an event at TIFF. They would be an unconventional couple it seems – Rachel is in line to become a go-to younger actress who would be expected (by the tabloids and fans) to date hot dudes like Ryan Gosling. Michael is an actor’s actor who has, in the past few years, found a wonderful niche as a go-to dramatic actor (with solid comedic chops). Anyway, Lainey claimed they were coupling up, and now the Canadian press (and Page Six) seem to be verifying it:

So, how’s this for the Commonwealth Games? In one corner: hometown fave and noted damsel in non-distress Rachel McAdams. In the other: Michael Sheen, a chameleonic force, that of the Welsh variety. Together, they’ve been providing a united front of late, seen all over town, doing the great decathlon of love.

It’s on, really it is. McAdams, who toyed with Sherlock Holmes on the big screen recently, and that gent who’s played Tony Blair (many times) and the white rabbit (in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland) and, oh, even Liz Lemon’s romantic snare on 30 Rock (but just passing through) are, by all accounts, together. So together.

“Their happiness is making my day,” is how an eyewitness actually put it to me, when he ended up having brunch beside them at Gilead Cafe, on the east end of Toronto, on Saturday. There was no dissenting evidence as to the state of their couple-hood, let’s just say. And the early stages of romance must do wonders for one’s appetite, because the thesps were seen not long before, in the same neck of the woods, at Le Petit Dejeuner, on King Street East.

Hands in clasp, they “stood outside,” another spy tells me, as there was a “lineup as always” at the popular spot. Both of them were topped off with cute hats to stave off the rain.

By evening, the centrifugal force that is love had led Rachel and Michael to the same dusk-till-dawn streets that had drawn out so many others in Toronto — the arty bacchanal known as Nuit Blanche! Getting into the spirit, they caught a few things, including the ah-isn’tthat-sweet? singalong that had been planned at the new Bell Lightbox. It was a singalong set to movie scores –how fitting was that?

This more-than-friends weekend comes, I should add, on the heels of the two meeting at Cheval, here on the west side, during the filmfest. A party it was then for Sheen’s weeper of a film, Beautiful Boy, and as the watchful Lainey Lui, of LaineyGossip.com,reported then, it was definitely sparks-ville. They were talking and “kept talking and not talking to anyone else,” is the way she put it. This is how things kinda line up, by the way: Sheen is 10 years our girl’s senior, has been burning up the stage in London for years before he was “discovered” in America, and happens to share a daughter with ex-wife Kate Beckinsale.

Rachel, meanwhile, upped her stakes by appearing on the cover of Vogue a few months back, spent most of her summer filming a movie for Woody Allen in Paris (and returns next to the screen in a curiousity with Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford) and is best known (romantically speaking) for her storybook (but ultimately doomed) relationship with Ryan Gosling.

I think it’s totally on. And I think it’s totally hot. Michael Sheen – while not my idea of a “Hot Guy” – is completely respectable and lovely and adorable, plus he’s really talented. Rachel is hot – very, very pretty, and she keeps her junk under wraps very well. They have the potential to be a very interesting power couple. I want this to be real.

Rachel Mcadams is absolutely stunning. Love her.

  2. Kitten says:

I don’t think I like this. She seems out of his league and I envision her breaking his heart in the end.

  3. Amanda** says:

I love him and stuff, but wasn’t he on a super long term relationship or something? Not long ago I remember seeing Michael on premieres with his daughter and his girlfriend, a girl he met after Kate Beckinsale dumped him. Anyway, he and Rachel make a cute couple.

  4. la chica says:

i hope he doesn’t get his heart broken again.

I don’t find him all that attractive, but I like him a lot and he’s a good actor. I like Rachel too. I think they make an interesting couple.

  12. aj says:

    What a pair of bores.

  13. LadyBea says:

Oh, I bet this bit of gossip pisses off Kate “Did You See Where I Left My Career?” Beckinsale.

  14. Persistent Cat says:

I can’t get past him being Wesley Snipes on 30 Rock. I agree with the others, he’s way out of her league, although I read somewhere once that looks aren’t everything. Might have been on a hipster’s t-shirt. You think that’s true?

I also hate the National Post. What terrible, cheesy writing.

  15. Kate says:

There is still that part of me that absolutely loves her with Ryan Gosling (despite never having seen The Notebook).

But I think she and Michael make an adorable couple and I absolutely am rooting for them.

  16. Carrie says:

Very cute, interesting couple. They both seem to be really down to earth, talented people who stay out of the spotlight when they aren’t working.

Since I like them both, I’m happy that they seem to be happy together.

  17. Adilys says:

That first picture cracks me up. He looks like a frustrated leprechaun and she is adorable but just looks way too excited. Like she’s a kid sticking her head into someone else’s photo.

  18. Anti-icon says:

These two make perfect sense to me. What a cool duo.

  19. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

    National Post: Ugh, ugh, uggggggggggghh.
Now, there’s a publication that doesn’t even want to try the wipe the ex-owner Conrad Black stank off of itself. It could only hope to be as compelling as intelligibly-written as a gossip blog, for example, this one. But the fact that it tries to pass itself off as a credible news source as opposed to that thing in which you wrap your fish? Ick. I checked the source about halfway through the overly-effusive tabloid-style garble and just thought, ‘Who else?’

There’s a potential essay question on a citizenship exam: Explain in fifty words or less how hard Conrad Black makes you smack your head against a wall. Please include, ‘Oh, COME ON!’ examples regarding his very, very early realease from prison or, if possible, integrate the phrase, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me’ in regard to discussing his desire to snivel back into Canada after having routinely denegrated it and relinquishing his own Canadian citizenship on the grounds of not having been granted peerage for deeds that were, shall we say, ‘not performed’. Filthy cartoons will be accepted–with joy!

Oh. The topic. So they’ve found love, huh? That’s good. I haven’t seen much of what she’s done at all, but I was impressed when she held her ground with Vanity Fair (not that being photographed for that particular publication means anything). And I like him. ‘Wesley Snipes’ and his ‘dressing slippers’, ha.

Actually, maybe it bodes in her favour that she wasn’t photographed, as VF only seems to care about you if your name is ‘Kennedy’, ‘Grace Kelly’, ‘Marilyn Monroe’, or ‘Gretchen Mol’.

  20. Mairead says:

Ruh roh – I just saw that his twitter no longer says “partner of Lorraine” 🙁

Now, I totally envy Rachel as I find him incredibly attractive, but I don’t want her to be labelled a “homewrecker”

  21. buenavissta says:

Speak it, Mama Jo! The Nat Post a piece of crap. I have no comment on the actual story, sorry!

  22. HG says:

Oh give me a break!!! he is not her type!! i dont care how much charming he is…
am I the only one who sees thing as they are???? Rachel & Ryan are totaly in love with each other, why is that, u think both didnt have any other meaningful relationship since???(please don’t remind me the Jush lucas episode, its just because he reminded her of Ryan by his looks)
i willing to bet my life on it: Macgosling didn’t say there last word, nor last liplock!!!!

  23. Lola says:

I just saw this item on E, they show a picture of them holding hands and i have one thing to say: The only thing that will perswade me that she moved on from my man Gosling is if I will see her glowing again while looking at another man like she gloated looking at Gosling (I am still not over their MTV’s liplock…never seen such an electrifing animal attraction between a man and a woman!! God!!!!! they are HOT together, remember the reunion pictures from that coffee shop? in all there pictures apart, since, both look rather gloomy. also her Jush lucas effort didnt stand for long…I am telling u guys, they are still madly in love, the MacGosling.

  24. I love this says:

Ohh, the mcgosling monster rears its ugly head. MOVE on.

Rachel and Michael seem really cute. Hot couple.

  25. shockedandappalled says:

Love the idea of them. Jealous.

  26. Camille says:

I saw a pic of the 2 of them on E! News last night holding hands, so yes I would definitely say they are a couple.

And as much as I like Michael Sheen and I LOVE Rachel McAdams, I don’t really like these 2 together. Then again its not my life, so I wish them the best of happiness 🙂 .

  27. normade says:

those shoes in the last pic make her legs look heavy. should have worn stilettos.

  28. Kloops says:

Jo Mama are you also Dalai Mama elsewhere? There’s something familiar about you, but perhaps it’s just a coincidence.

  29. Pipa says:

Oh he wish to be loved like MacAdams LOVES Gosling..

  30. hjsplit says:

Amaze! Thank you! I constantly wished to produce in my internet site a thing like that. Can I take element of the publish to my blog?

  31. Helena says:

Okay, I’m getting a little sick of the Gosling stalkers. Get over it. But anyways, Michael Sheen is an amazing actor and a very charming man and they seem really into each other, so adorable! Gotta love this couple.
