High fashion Charlie Brown, right? That was what I first thought when I saw Carey Mulligan’s dress at the Never Let Me Go premiere last night. Where I preferred Carey’s dress at yesterday’s photo call, I have to admit, I prefer Keira’s total look for the premiere. Does it wash her out a bit? Sure. But the Chanel Fall 2010 Couture dress is gorgeous, the detailing is beautiful, and her makeup and styling is incredible. Now, I don’t really hate Carey’s Vionnet Spring 2011 deal. It’s actually one of the prettiest things she’s ever worn on a red carpet, which isn’t really saying much. I actually think Carey looks like Keira styled her – I bet you ten bucks that’s what happened. Keira came to Carey’s hotel room and picked out her dress and did her makeup and hair.
What’s-his-face looked nice too. Andrew Garfield. I can never remember his name. He may be extremely talented, but he’s very average-looking, right? I’ve known about ten different guys in my life that look like this.

Wow! GORGEOUS CHANEL DRESS!! What a pleasure to even just look at it. I actually like Carey’s dress too. FWIW – I am SO TIRED of micro-mini hemlines on dresses – especially when they’re strapless dresses. To me they look about as lovely as one of those towels you can buy that have a closure right near your underarm.

The length on Carey’s dress is awful she looks so frumpy standing next to Kiera which is saying alot because Carey is beautiful.

I also thought Keiras styled Carey. Lately Careys dressing the best she ever has at these appearances for Never let me go. Can’t be a coincidence. They both look great and I heard the movie is good too

Keira looks like a beautiful mannequin to me, too intent on posing, and basically lifeless.
I think Carey looks good by comparison.
About the book the movie is based on…I read it recently. The author, who also wrote Remains of the Day, is a Brit of Japanese ancestry.
The book is very unsettling. It portrays a very inhumane future— cold and chilling—where children are produced and raised in institutions solely for the purpose of harvesting their organs.

Keira’s dress is ah maz ing. Andrew Garfield played such a sweet character in “Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus” – I really liked him in that. Hopefully he continues to be successful.

love both dresses.. hate K’s shoes. These two look awesome. It’s just hard to see them together because the dresses are SO different. Carey’s is much more casual than Kiera’s.

I guess I’m not feeling either of those dresses. The dress on Keira just emphasizes how flat chested she is and Careys dress is too long and ill fitting. If both dresses could be tweaked, they’d be winners. And Carey’s shoes are so clunky looking. I’d also prefer a sleeker heel on Keira.

Meh. I like Carey’s look much better. Keira’s shoes are way too clunky and from the side, the dress really makes her look like she has a long torso and short legs. I also think Carey is much prettier – Keira’s face is so angular I feel like she might poke somebody’s eye out with that jawbone!

While Keira’s makeup is gorgeous, I thought English girls were taught posture. Her slumping is horrible and ruins the whole look. She’s nearly as bad as Ashlee Simpson in these photos with her chin thrust out at an odd angle over her slumped chest.

I LOVE the Chanel dress and the shoes which are a little different from the usual seen on red carpets. I don’t care for the other dress or the rest of Carey’s styling.

I think Carey’s dress would be adorable if it were much shorter-above the knee. Then it wouldn’t be so weighted down, and would flow nicely and look fresher and younger (not so dowdy). Oh, and different shoes, too.

Gorgeous Chanel. I agree the heavy, dark shoes with it are offputting. A nice stiletto would have been exquisite. Carrie looks cute but they do not look like they are going to same event. She just looks a little more casual. Both beautiful actresses.

That is an amazing Chanel dress and Keira looks terrific. A few more pounds on her (would give her some boobs!) and a different pair of shoes (too clunky) and she would look absolutely perfect!
And to gillie and Kaiser: here in Washington we have an AMAZING high-end second hand store (Texas Glad Rags — I think they have some other locations) and I have bought $300 cocktail dresses for as little as $15! I don’t go out often and at that price, I wear them around the house. Nothing like a pretty cocktail dress to make a woman feel beautiful — e’en whilst doing housework!
