Lindsay Lohan advised to fire her mom as her manager (ha)

One of the most startling things I learned from reading Lindsay Lohan’s Vanity Fair profile last month was that Dina Lohan is still taking her “manager’s cut” from everything Lindsay does. Dina gets a cut of Lindsay’s leggings deal. Dina gets a cut from all of Lindsay’s “crackhead modeling” work. And if Lindsay ever films the Linda Lovelace bio-pic, Mother Crackhead will be there to take her cut of that too. You’d think that since Lindsay’s once-bright star has faded to the point of inky crackhead blackness, that it would be very obvious that new management was in desperate need. Not so much. Apparently, Lindsay’s therapists/sobriety managers are trying to convince her to fire Dina as her manager, just because Lindsay needs Dina to be a mom right now, and she needs for Dina to have nothing to do with the charred hulk of Lindsay’s career. Lindsay is refusing, however.

Lindsay Lohan is being advised to cut mom Dina loose from her business empire and acting career if she wants to remain sober, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

“Dina needs to no longer act as her manager, or work for her daughter in any capacity,” a source close to the Hollywood wild child told RadarOnline.com.

“Lindsay needs Dina to simply be her mother. Lindsay’s treatment team at Betty Ford has emphasized this to Lindsay, very, very strongly. Lindsay feels the financial burden of taking care of her entire family. It’s enormous pressure for any person in their twenties, let alone someone that is battling with addiction.”

The source added, “Lindsay and Dina don’t have a normal mother-and-daughter dynamic because of the length of time that Dina has worked for Lindsay.”

But according to the source, Lindsay, 24, has not yet accepted the advice.

“She is strong enough to tell Dina that she doesn’t want her to work for her anymore,” added the source, who has direct knowledge of the situation. “It’s partly because it has been the norm for so long and Lindsay doesn’t know what her career would look like without her mom’s involvement.”

Lindsay’s next project is the biopic of porn star Linda Lovelace’s life, Inferno, although filming has been delayed until the starlet is released from treatment.

“Lindsay wants to get back to work, with the view, the sooner the better,” said the source. “However, her treatment team is asking that she commit to at least another 45 days of treatment.

“Lindsay has done several 30 day rehab stints and almost every time, she has relapsed. We really believe that the longer she stays at Betty Ford, the better for her odds of success.”

[From Radar]

“Lindsay doesn’t know what her career would look like without her mom’s involvement.” Ugh, there’s nowhere to go but up, Linds. Through your mom’s management, you’ve been in rehab five times, been in and out of jail, been dragged into court kicking and screaming several times, and your big career comeback role is as a porn star. What do you think would happen WITHOUT Dina?

Honestly, though, I think Lindsay doesn’t want to fire her mommy because in her mind she’s just a child and if she has to hire someone professional, she won’t have her every crack shenanigan enabled.

P.S. If this Radar report is true, how long do you think it will take before Dina has the Betty Ford clinic “fired”? Oh, it’s coming.

  1. Diane says:

Get ready for Dina raising hell.

  2. Kelly says:

I never cease to be amazed and horrified by Dina’s faces – the last pic is the best one ever. She looks like a horse snorting! For someone who’s photographed so much, you’d think she’d at least practice her Zoolanders in the mirror so that she doesn’t look so hids all the time.

  3. mln says:

I honestly think it would be the only way to reform her in the public’s eyes. Especially if she stays in rehab for an extended period 6 months or more. That was actually one of the steps that Drew Barrymoore took(at a much younger age) that helped her get on track.

  4. Lucky Charm says:

Dina should be fired as her mother, too. And LiLo’s stay in rehab should be at least 6 months, not 45 days. This “family” really needs to take a break and get out of showbusiness for a while….

  5. Tia C says:

Kaiser, you always find the best (i.e. least flattering) pix of Dina and I so enjoy them!! If true, this sounds like excellent advice from the Betty Ford Center. Doubtful that Lindsay will take said excellent advice though. If she did, it’s likely her career would rebound with proper professional management. As you said, it really couldn’t get any worse.

  6. hatsumomo says:

Ever heard of Carl Tanzler and Elena de Hoyos? When police finally found Elena’s remains ‘mummified’ by Tanzler, her death mask bears an uncanny resemblance to Dina Lohan’s living face.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Tanzler

  7. tripmom says:

Fire Dina as her manager? Duh. Shame she can’t fire her in the role of “mom” too.

  8. Jean says:

It disgusts me how this leech of a woman is living off and through her children.
What’s her official job title? Pimp? Enabler?

  9. Jeri says:

Lindsay & Dina and all their vices are so intertwined I don’t think either of them can imagine an existence without the other.

It’s a sick sick relationship, just as sick as the relationship her father keeps claiming as his love for his daughter.

They only have their illness’s, vices & money to represent love in their lives.

That makes no sense and neither do any of them.

Time for Dina to sink or swim on her own.

  10. PLEASE FIRE DINA AND GET AS FAR AWAY AS YOU F*****G CAN LINDSAY! X_X

Seriously, i like Lindsay, she is tallented and i do think she doesn’t deserve ALL the hatred thrown at her but please, anybody can see that if she just stayed in rehab for 6 months and kept away from Dina and her “family” she would have a shot at an amazing comeback, everybody loves a comeback so get on it Lindsay FFS.

  11. hellen says:

OF COURSE Dina is still taking her manager’s cut! What else do you think that woman lives on? Mom cashes checks at the Bank of Lindsay. And I am sure Dina reminds Lindsay often that if she didn’t “help” (ie: support) them, she and Ali would be living in the street.

  12. Sigh. says:

The OOOOONLY way Dina would EEEEEVER be “fired” would be if a “middle man manager” is then hired for appearances’ sake/Lilo’s professional reputation, but Dina still will have say in every decision made under the guise of being one of the few people in this world who will always only have Lind’s best interest at heart…or some such

  13. Kitten says:

..but then she’d have to find a new drug buddy…

  14. anoneemouse says:

Love that cracked out look on her face! Love it! If we ever wondered where Lindsay got it, wonder no more.

  15. Malice says:

If everyone can view this situation impartially and see a young woman who has NO support from her primary family. Both her parents have used their children for financial gain and fame. The pressure this puts on a child is immense. Everyone has a way of coping and Lindsey chose drugs and alcohol. Although, I don’t agree with Lindsey’s behaviour, I also feel deeply for her too.

  16. Sassy says:

Firing Dina as her manager, wouldn’t be enough. Lindsay would have to can her as her mother, too. Even then I have serious doubts that Lindsay could stop her crackie behavior.

  17. TQB says:

Finally, something we (those who rag on Linds and those who defend) can totally agree on. FIRE DINA. This needs a website.

  18. Hautie says:

Well it is not as if Lindsay has to stopped giving her Mother the 10%.

If she wants to hand over the cash, then let her.

But stop the Mother from handling any of her business affairs.

If Lindsay had a legit manager for the last decade, she probably would not be in the financial free fall she finds her self currently in.

Though I thought Lindsay had hired two new people to straighten out her career. (Lou and Larry?) Is that true?

  19. Riley says:

I think she looks like Michael Jackson.

  20. smith says:

Same same with Kim K and Kris Jenner. She is a nightmare mom/manager.

On second thought, eh don’t change a thing. All is as it’s supposed to be. Freaks.

  21. Ruby Red Lips2 says:

Betty Ford want Dina to be a ‘mom’ not a manager – hello! I don’t think Dina knows the meaning of ‘mom’ let alone how to act like one

  22. Cindy Kennedy Highland says:

Dina has an awful nose job. They made her nose way too small. Like Michael Jackson’s. She is so fake looking.

  23. NayNay says:

As it is, Dina is already shopping around a reality show about Lindsay’s rehab stay. Her mother is only out for the money. She does not care for her children, at all. If the money dried up, certainly she would have no use for Lindsay. Lindsay doesn’t stand a chance for survival, if left in her ‘so called’ mother’s care. I’ve said it a million times, but it’s worth repeating, Lindsay needs to get herself emanicipated from both her parents. Hey, Drew Barrymore did it, and look how terrific she turned out.

  24. dorothy says:

This should be interesting. Dina would have to get a….oh no wait for it…wait for it….. JOB.

  25. Annabelle says:

Aw. I feel kinda bad for Lindsay. It must be confusing and scary to be in her position. Yes, she has put herself there, but sometimes people don’t realize the gravity of what they are doing – addicts especially. Making big changes to your life, even though they are for the best, can be scary. So I imagine she is scared and probably just realizing the gravity of what her life has become. I think she can come out of this and really thrive, if she listens to the advice she is being given. Sounds like good advice to me!

  26. Liana says:

Lindsay is an adult. There is no need for emancipation. She simply has to say “mom, no. Dad, piss off.”

  27. Sakota says:

Some parents aren’t like that, who will go away with a ‘piss off.’ Some parents are determined to have a deaht grip on their kids if they have something to offer or are simply dependent on the child. I think that her parents need to be forcibly extracted and kept away via restraining order.

  28. shueler says:

Accepting that your parents may not truly have your best interests at heart is excrutiatingly painful.

Linds is the Queen of Denial. She believes what she WANTS to believe, instead of what’s proven.

It’s still early. She will come around or die young trying to scratch a career out of Hollywood & NYC. (I see Marilyn Monroe parallels.)

  29. Sakota says:

Sometimes I think that death would be a mercy to her. I hope she lives and makes a comback, but really, she is in desperate need of God and a hug. Would be hideous to see her drop and then we have another story of another dead celebrity to read about.

  30. cantbelievethis says:

At first glance I thought the pic was of Leann Rimes!

  31. cantbelievethis says:

There really should be a rule that parents cannot manage their kids career. Minors should have an objective party overseeing things.

  32. albeli says:

One of the most dysfunctional Hollywood families ever.

  33. lucy2 says:

Cutting both parents off would be a good move, no question.
I don’t know if it’s as one sided as all that though – with her enabler mother, Lindsay has been able to do whatever she wants. If she gets a real manager, she’d probably be forced to behave, show up for work on time (if she ever gets any again), etc. It’s not like she’s trying to get away but can’t, I think they’ve both been quite happy with their sick little arrangement as it is.

  34. Churchston Winsthill says:

Oh yes, her mother has “managed” to drive Lohan’s “career” straight into the dirt all for the sake of trying (and failing) to take another year or two off her very odd-looking face between cocaine binges.

  35. bagladey says:

If Dina was willing to do any- and every thing that was good for her daughter she would sincerely and graciously offer to relinquish her position as Lindsay’s manager to an approved individual, and even insist, if that’s what Lindsay’s doctors and counsellors advise is best for her, so that her daughter would not have to feel guilty about letting her go. I’m honestly feeling badly for Lindsay having been placed in this position by her family. It’s awful.

  36. bubbles says:

here is what I don’t get: if Hollywood is wrecking your life to the extent that you are an attention startved drugriddled loser that can’t hold a job to save your life, even if it’s handed to you on a silver plate, maybe it’s time for you to look for the meaning of live somewhere else. ever heard of the word spirituality? how about moving away from these fucked-up enabling environments and starting over? or maybe everyone prefers to wait for her corpse to turn up somewhere to say ” I told you so”.

  37. Liana says:

I think she should totally get a restraining order against her father. I understand that he wants to be part of her life, but why? I don’t feel like either of those parents do anything without there being some financial gain for them. They are disgusting.

  38. abbizmal says:

That is good advice. She needs to distance herself from that crazy mom of hers or she’ll never be clean. Wonder what Ali has been up to. Can’t be good.

PS – love the photos you posted of that woman. I love my normal mom.

  39. Liana says:

@abbizmal: doesn’t Dina make you want to hug the stuffing out of your mom? Every time I read something about Dina, I call my mom and tell her how much I love her normality.

  40. lin234 says:

As much as I dislike this family, I can actually understand why it would be hard for Lindsey to fire her mother.

I’m sure she’s financially supporting her mother but at the same time, her sister, and brother too. If she cuts Dina off, then what about her siblings? That’s actually a tough decision regardless of her mother. If she fires her mother, I’m betting she will still have to give her money so she probably thinks it’s easier to have her mother get a cut of what she does rather than pay a stranger a cut and her mother too.

  41. Camille says:

FUTURESTARdelux and Liana: I agree with you. Both of her parents are disgusting creatures. I hope Lindsay DOES fire her mother- from her life entirely.

  42. why can’t i post properly?

  43. nel says:

ahhh they are a gift that keeps on giving 🙂 la hohans are the best.

  44. nel says:

i wonder if dina took a manager’s fee from ali lohan getting some modelling work for lindsay’s fashion line.

so dina takes a cut from the sales (if any) from lindsay’s fashion line, and recommends ali to do the modelling work and takes a cut from ali’s paycheck from lindsay for doing the modelling work.
then she takes a cut from lindsay also managing the fashion business also, probably. damm bitch has her hands deeeppp in the cookie jar.

WOW right about now, satan has raised dina to the top of his list, to replace him when he retires.

  45. Jazz says:

You need to go away before you can have a comeback. She needs to go away now, for a looooooong ass time!

  46. Lucinda says:

I can actually see how Lindsay feels responsible for her family financially and how much pressure that could put on her since this is what she has been dealing with since she was a kid. She never got the parents she deserved as a kid. Instead she got Michael and Dina. Just because she’s in her 20’s now doesn’t mean you automatically shake off those unhealthy dynamics. It’s really scary and hard to do because it is all you’ve ever known. Those are really well-ingrained norms for her. It may be terrible, but it’s familiar and there is a sick kind of comfort in that. I actually feel sorry for the kid and hope that Betty Ford gets the chance to really help her out.

  47. alejandro says:

Dina hasn’t been her manager for years, she still gets her paws on deals for exclusive pictures and interviews, though. This is all a PR cleanup to make Lindsay seem like she’s actually getting clean and distancing herself from Dina.

  48. anoneemouse says:

I guess now we know why her mother never thought much of Lindsay going into rehab – all of the dirt on her (Dina) will come out of the closet…

  49. la_chica says:

My first instinct is from a business perspective, OBVIOUSLY the thing with Dina is not working out. But these people are so effed…

I love the quote “Lindsay has done several 30 day rehab stints and almost every time, she has relapsed.” That’s generous. It’s pretty clear that every time she has relapsed.

  50. original kate says:

dina keeps talking about how talented lindsay is, but one semi-decent movie (“mean girls”) does not a thespian make. obviously dina cannot be objective about her daughter/client/meal ticket, so she should be replaced by some tough as nails manager won’t enable lindsay and make excuses for her the way dina does. but i think lindsay’s career is a thing of the past; she isn’t hardworking or talented enough for a career comeback. except maybe a career in porn.

  51. Raven says:

Lindsay has a lot of talent and she lights up the screen. She has been supporting her family forever, though, and it has crippled her. It is very difficult for someone like her to fire her mother. I don’t think she has strong boundaries. That is why it is important for her to stay at Betty Ford for as long as necessary so she can do the work that she has to do to heal herself.

  52. Jeri says:

Lindsays also addicted to DRAMA and she gets plenty of that with Dina & Michael.

If Lindsay ever fired Dina, Dina would probably drop, sob & grab Lindsays’ ankles screaming “What will become of me? Who will support me? Don’t leave me!

  53. Francesca says:

It is definitely a good idea for Lindsay to get rid of her mom as her manager, but with it comes a lot of baggage. It will probably cause the loss of a lot of her families support, and as we all know Lindsay needs support, and if she fires her mom she will probably get a lot of resentment, and have to go through the added stress of finding another manager that she trusts. Lindsay’s family should really learn to just stop relying on her for money, the stress from that is probably what made her go crazy and ruin herself. Basically she just needs a manager and a family to support her and back her up – not to use her.
