Olivia Wilde wants to be the next Megan Fox so badly

cockburn3

Olivia Cockburn (Wilde) is the next big thing. She’s got a bunch movies either already out or coming out soon. She’s on hiatus from House, hoping to get this film career started and take over the role of “Megan Fox-esque hot girl who says dumb crap”. Except no one says dumb crap like Megan – and Olivia is trying to impress us with how smart she is, a sure-fire way to prove the opposite. Anyway, she’s in the new issue of Details Magazine, and I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is that this is the first interview I’ve read where she doesn’t mention that she’s a princess while also mentioning that she “rarely” talks about how she’s a princess. The bad news is that for the photo shoot, she’s either wearing hot pants or flashing her nipples. I mean… if it was Salma Hayek, I would want to look, over and over. But Olivia… I don’t know, she’s so completely unsexy to me. Anyway, those NSFW images are at the bottom, in the thumbnails. Here’s the full Details piece:

“Sit here,” Olivia Wilde says, patting the seat next to her. We’re at a hip café she’s chosen near her Venice, California, home and she’s already claimed her favorite table. She’s wearing tight jeans, a disconcertingly sheer white top, and a hat. Not just any hat—an ugly, straw, Kid Rock-looking fedora. It’s a classic fashion power play , the kind of thing beautiful women do because they can.

Wilde, 26, who plays the terminally ill Dr. Remy “Thirteen” Hadley on House, is having a breakout year on the big screen, with roles in the Paul Haggis-directed crime thriller The Next Three Days and the hotly anticipated CGI spectacle Tron: Legacy. In the 1982 original, Jeff Bridges gets sucked inside a computer and engages in a cheesy, futuristic Ultimate Frisbee-meets-Rollerball battle. In this December’s reboot, Bridges returns (sporting a Dude-like beard), only this time there are way cooler special effects, a killer Daft Punk soundtrack, and a secret weapon: Wilde as the cybervixen guide Quorra.

The role required that she squeeze into a skintight rubber suit woven out of neoprene and something called electroluminescent lamps. “It was so beautiful that I didn’t need to play the character sexy,” she says. The first time she laid eyes on the get-up, however, she freaked: “I saw the boobs on the suit and I said, ‘Oh, hell no. I’m doing kicks and backflips in this thing?’ ” She describes Quorra as a kind of warrior ninja: “We modeled the character on Joan of Arc but with the hair of Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. But still a total badass.”

Wilde, who was born in New York City and raised in Washington, D.C., has never been precious about her profession. “I loved the Police Academy movies and Saturday Night Live,” she says. “I was totally into slapstick humor.” When she was 10, her parents took her to a taping of SNL. “I went to the after-party and met Chris Farley,” she recalls. “All the cast members were drinking and celebrating, and Chris came up and challenged me to a brownie-eating contest.” (He won. Wasn’t close.) Her first big breaks were both, strangely, porn-themed—Jerry Bruckheimer’s short-lived 2003 TV series Skin and the 2004 Elisha Cuthbert comedy The Girl Next Door. And then there was a stint on The O.C., playing a bisexual teen who famously kissed Mischa Barton’s character.

None of which is to suggest that Wilde isn’t serious-minded. She works with the ACLU and the nonprofit Artists for Peace and Justice, and, along with fellow actress Maria Bello, she’s producing a documentary about the construction of a movie theater in a refugee camp in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It was her work as a board member for the ACLU that inspired artist Shepard Fairey, the man behind the iconic Obama “Hope” poster, to create an image of Wilde draped in an American flag, striking a Lady Liberty pose. “I was honored to do it,” she says, downplaying her initiation into an elite fraternity that includes the president and André the Giant. “It’s unbelievable,” she concedes, “the amount of power people in Hollywood have. I feel like I’m in a really good place.”

[From Details]

One thing I’ll give her, she does put her time and money where her mouth is, and I admire her activism work. Other than that, meh. She’s a crappy actress and all she has to offer are making out with chicks on camera and… that’s it, apparently.

Geez.. She really does want to be the new Megan Fox. Its not happening. Shes pretty and she got a role in Tron, but she seems so bland. Shes most likely to go the Biel, Alba way

  2. L says:

Don’t forget she’s also going to be in that movie “Cowboys & Aliens” With Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. Which still makes no sense to me.

  3. David says:

Don’t be a hater. She is way hotttter than Fox!

  4. normades says:

Wow Fox really did crash and burn. Does she still have a career?

  5. devilgirl says:

I like her and I think she is a fairly decent actress. I find her extremely beautiful.

  6. lu says:

    @L
Thank you, such a dumb film, they have to work their ass on the acting cause there is no way that people would eat this.
cowboys and aliens don’t go together.
Maybe cowboys and zombies, but not aliens.

  7. aenflex says:

    nothing to her, imo.

  8. Sarah says:

I don’t see her appeal. I like her in what I’ve seen her in but I don’t get the sex appeal. Then again, I didn’t really get Fox’s appeal either so whatever. Next.

  9. The_Porscha says:

I don’t think she’s a bad actress, actually. I’ve especially liked her in House, and she was one of the few bearable people on The O.C. She should stop interviewing so much, of course, but her acting isn’t bad.

  10. Benny says:

I do NOT see the big deal about this girl at all. I give credit where credit is due…and i’m not giving her much credit in the looks department…..very plain jane.

  11. bellaluna says:

Well, she’s consistent, I’ll give her that. Kissing MB, kissing other chicks on House…what’s next, kissing CGI chicks in Tron?

  12. RobN says:

I like her and she was good on House. I’ve seen her in a few things and she’s always a pretty respectable actress. I also don’t know a single man who doesn’t think she’s crazy hot.

I also think you have to excuse the princess thing. I can’t imagine that every single interviewer doesn’t ask her about it so she can either answer and look like she’s got an attitude or not answer and look like a bitch. It’s a no-win.

  13. junipergreen says:

    I love her in House.

@RobN–I agree with you. She’s probably asked about it in every interview and has to answer one way or another. Definitely a no-win.

I don’t see how a direct comparison can be made between her and Megan Fox. Megan Fox is cheap looking and ugly. She cannot act at all and says the stupidest shit, even insulting every director she’s ever had. Olivia Wilde does charity work and did so before she was even an actress, is a decent actress, and is intelligent and well-spoken. I think this photo shoot was probably a bad idea (looks tacky), but she’s worlds away from a Megan Fox type.

  14. Stephy2585 says:

I’m hoping someone will be generous enough to answer my (possibly DUMB) question because I just don’t have the time or inclination to waste a good “google” on this one…

Is she really an actual Princess??

Cause hotpants and nipples are decidedly un-royal..

  15. di butler says:

Her acting-urgh. But she’s cute, so she’ll be around for a while.

  16. jover says:

Not impressed with her in anyway; gotta wonder whether her progressive causes are to deflect from her privileged background. She’s too predictably hollywood, and hollywood doesn’t have as much power as she thinks – much of the public pays little attention to the stream of 15 minute celebs hollywood produces these days.

  17. bellaluna says:

@ Stephy2585 – Apparently, she eloped with an Italian prince at the age of 18. *hangs head in shame* I actually checked it out on IMDB. Please don’t judge me; obviously the cold medicine is effecting my rational thought processes.

  18. 4Real says:

My teenager would BEG to differ! LOL!!

  19. nnn says:

Just want to say that being the Alba or Biel way is presently better than the Megan way career wise….

i mean all three are EQUALLY bland but Alba and Biel have succeeded in still be around at nearly 30 with a decade in the industry and keep on catering with a relative siccess a certain niche as they have kept minimum controversy, have a cleaner image and looks fresher while older with minimal or zero plastic surgeries.

Megan still have to pass that test and will have to reshape her image.

  20. Bodhi says:

Oh that was her? Shepard can do no wrong in my book. He is a brilliant & passionate artist who is extremely dedicated to his causes. While I wish that she left something to the imagination in these photos, the fact that she is bud with him gives her pass, at least for now

  21. bros says:

snore. this one is useless. another kinda pretty face.

  22. Fit says:

Get your facts straight, idiot! She’s not trying to be “the next” anything. Olivia is unique and gorgeous. F*ck you, haters!

  23. heathen says:

She is very pretty but only a so-so actor. If it wasn’t for her good looks she wouldn’t get cast in diddly, so yeah, Megan Fox seems to be a likely career path.
And I think it is a huge problem that people in Hollywood have so much power –gah! I hate to sound so old (I’m really not THAT old), but kids today should have better role models than girls who show their nips in public, imo.

eta: @22 (can’t read name) — Is she your sister or something? If not, calm down.

  24. Raven says:

I like her but bellaluna is right. She appears to be typecast. Maybe she doesn’t care too much about her career. Maybe she’s just doing the acting thing as a lark.

  25. Fit says:

No, I just hate stupid headlines like this. People love to attack others lives because they wish they were the ones living them!

  26. Stephy2585 says:

    @bellaluna
haha! oooh yes, no one can be held responsible if cold medicine is involved!
thank you for sinking to imdb her! lol

  27. bellaluna says:

@ Stephy2585 – You’re welcome…just don’t tell anyone, okay? I don’t want to die of shame. And what do they put in nyquil, anyway? Dear Jeebus, help me. *head desk*

  28. Jacqueline says:

I think she is too smart to be Megan Fox and a much better actress as well. (However Michael Bay seems sexist because Mikayla’s character was the least developed so Megan actually didnt have a lot to work with either. I dont blame her for quitting.)

  29. Gymo says:

Lovely girl, good screen presence and growing into her craft.

Pix are not great but we all are entitled to some lapse in judgement at times, especially if you publicist suggested it.

  30. Liana says:

I like her. And the Cowboys and Aliens script is really fun. Looking forward to that film.

  31. Emily says:

At least she doesn’t have the same annoying little girl voice that Fox has. It is truly horrible. I haven’t seen Wilde in House, but I liked her in the OC.

  32. mslewis says:

I think she’s very pretty but really, she seems to be doing exactly what all the other “sexy starlets” are doing these day . . . porny pictures!! It’s getting really old to see these women with no clothes on because when they are naked they all look alike!!

Also, that Crowe movie was a big-time bomb at the box office so she can scratch that one from her list of the movies that will make her famous.

  33. AJ says:

Only implants could put her on the Megan Fox trajectory.

  34. Newbie says:

Honestly, I don’t know how she is as an actress. But as a woman, she’s really a knockout.

  35. hannah says:

she always does that a$$-up pose, trying to create the illusion of curves, but she doesn’t have any. not that there is anything wrong with that.

  36. Meadowmuffin says:

I think Olivia has a beautiful face, but her body is like a young boy. She is way too skinny!

  37. B says:

Hmmm…I don’t know much about her yet(aside from reading this post), but she’s hot, and seems like she like she might stick around longer than MF…

  38. rr says:

she is much better than fox.

  39. Kay says:

She’s always going on about how she’s a royal. That is boring. At least MF is down to earth. Though I do admire OW’s other good works.

  40. Stronzilla says:

Going on about being royal. Skinny bod and so-so face. Its Kate Middleton!

  41. Eleonor says:

Megan is over, this is the new version of her, plus charity work minus bad mouthing on directors and other actors. It seems Olivia has done her homeworks.

  42. mystified says:

She’s prettier than Megan (especially since it looks like her face is still natural) and probably a better actress. Not that I’ve seen her act. It’s just about every actress is a better actress than Megan Fox, except for maybe Natalie Portman.

  43. Nibbi says:

haven’t seen any of her dumb movies, but do think she sort of resembles carla bruni before she got into all the french politicians and cosmetic procedures. hope she stays natural, for the moment she’s lovely

  44. karen says:

Olivia Wilde is much better than Megan Fox, why would she try to be her?

  45. This is what good writing is made of; interesting, engaging, intelligent and well-written content. This is exactly what I see in your article. Thank you.
