Michelle Williams is sticking with white-blonde hair: tragic or lovely?

Michelle Williams has progressively been going for a lighter and lighter blonde for months now – and it has reached the point where her hair now just looks white. At first I thought it was merely a styling choice, in an effort perhaps to look more like cream of wheat. And then I wondered if it was just about the roots, because she was playing Marilyn Monroe – maybe there was some tricky wig-or-extensions drama. But that film is done, and Michelle didn’t get rid of the white blonde. If anything, it’s just even more white.

Here are more shots – these photos are from a London screening of Blue Valentine, which Kate Winslet attended. Apparently, she’s a huge fan of Michelle. Nice.

The color isn’t great but I love her with short hair. She is just so talented I can’t stand it.
Also, Kate Winslet is getting even MORE beautiful somehow? God, she’s gorgeous…

  2. gigi* says:

    she looks cute!

  3. dre says:

It’s tragic! The color ages her horribly. Kate Winslet isn’t looking too great either. Comb your freaking hair at least.

  4. Delta Juliet says:

I wouldn’t normally care for it, but I think it works for her. She looks cute.

  5. francesca says:

Kate looks kind of waxy to me…

  6. Tess says:

Not good. She looks like a Q-Tip.

  7. devilgirl says:

I think she looks horrible. The color ages her to about 1o yrs. The cut accentuates her not so good features, and mind you, I have always loved her. I just think she looks terrible at the moment.

  8. gobo says:

Oh God no, It makes her look like Renee Zelwegger with that page boy do. Bad move.

  9. Riley says:

I love her with short hair too, and she is a beautiful beautiful woman. The color however ages her.

  10. Siren6 says:

    Cute!

  11. anti says:

i like the length but the color is too light… makes her look a lot older.

  12. Heather says:

    Awful hair!

Kate Winslets makeup has improved, questionable outfit though.

  13. Megan says:

I am not sure that it is the color itself that I hate, or the fact that her eyebrows are too dark for the hair color.

  14. Cel says:

I like her with short hair, but the colour is very wrong with her skin tone and eyebrow colour.

She should go for a colour close to what both Kate has.

  15. Ashley says:

I agree with megan. Its those brows. If those were lighter it wouldn’t be so harsh.

  16. tina says:

love the cut but the white hair and dark brows make her look washed out.

  17. bellaluna says:

Please, do something with either the brows, the hair colour, or both. She looks God-awful with her skin tone, that cut, that colour, and those dark brows all combined. And I really like her! But she needs a new stylist, STAT.

  18. Henriette says:

    Dreadful hair.

  19. danielle says:

don’t like the look. to me it reminds me of an older woman desperately trying to look young and hip. But then, I’ve never been a huge fan of Michelle’s.

  20. SamiHami says:

    BAD!

  21. Donna Wingfield says:

    I don’t think she’s at all attractive.

  22. Ruffian9 says:

She’s adorable; but I don’t think that colour (lack of colour?) works well for anyone. I do like a pixie style cut on her though, as she’s quite petite.

  23. dread pirate cuervo says:

Michelle Wimmiams? I thought that was Renee Zellweger who for some reason was doing her Molly Ivins on SNL!

  24. Samigirl says:

ITA with EVERYONE who mentioned her eyebrows. The white hair isn’t TERRIBLE, and it makes her skin coloring look GORGEOUS,but her brows look positively black…not a good look.

  25. benny says:

She has a pretty face, but I don’t like that hair color on her.

And Winslet hasn’t look good ever since she did *something* to her face earlier this year (I think I first noticed it around February?). She used to be one of Hollywood’s beauties, but now I can’t look at her new face without comparing it (poorly) to her old one. Such a shame.

  26. The Hamm is My Dream Man says:

Tragic. Is she trying to look much older?

  27. serena says:

OH please Michelle, get rid of that colour and haircut. It’s terribile. It doesn’t compliment your face at all, it only makes you look old.

  28. original kate says:

it’s much too harsh on her.

  29. Green Is Good says:

Not remotely flattering in any way.

  30. Jeri says:

I’m sure she’ll get bored with it eventually. Hopefully sooner than Rhianna and the orange hair.

  31. Bopa says:

Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if her eyebrows were a little lighter.

  32. Louwho says:

Too light – it’s rather harsh.

  33. HakuraChii says:

Everything is just *one* color, I think that’s what’s hurting this look. The cut is great on her, but there’re no ‘tones’ to create movement and contrast.

She probably should’ve picked a slightly darker blonde, then used the very light color for all-over (throughout) highlights. That way the brows wouldn’t look so odd, and her hair would have more shape.

  34. Sue says:

andy warhol biopic in her future?

  35. Mairead says:

I do like her with shorter hair, but this colour does her no favours. It’s far too light and washes her skin out. A warmer, more honey colour would be beautiful. I really like her, i think she’s a decent actress and, to me, was the only remotely decent thing about the angsty dreck known as Dawson’s Creek.

@Sue, did you know that, somewhat ironically, she played a character inspired by Edie Sedgwick in the Bob Dylan “biopic” I’m Not There.

  36. KateNonymous says:

I’m not crazy about the color, but it would be a lot worse with any different cut (I’m looking at you, Rachel McAdams and Kate Bosworth, even if your color isn’t quite so extreme). The cut is so good on her that Winslet looks a little raggedy in comparison.

  37. Persistent Cat says:

Ew. I didn’t realize she was that unattractive.

  38. Matt says:

Love Kate Winslet. Love Kim Cattrall. Love Michelle Williams, but the hair colour IS ageing on her face.

  39. Trippin says:

She looks like a young Dianne Wiest or could be her daughter. Odd little face.

  40. Bitter fruit says:

I think it would look better with a decent haircut. That bowl cut isn’t working at all.
