Nick Lachey has to pretend to be his own assistant

You have to feel a little bad for Nick Lachey: he finally gets engaged and all anyone wants to know is how he feels about Jessica Simpson.

To add insult to injury, he has to pretend to be his own personal assistant, according to In Touch Weekly.

The Sing-Off host Nick Lachey has found his future wife, but he’s still missing another kind of partner — a personal assistant! However, the singer, who proposed to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, 30, in November, still seems to want to keep up the appearance that he has his own staff.

“We get calls from Nick Lachey’s ‘assistant,’ who sounds very much like Nick himself,” a business associate of the star, 37, tells In Touch. “Funny how he and this assistant have the same exact voice!”

Maybe he’s just trying to save money for his upcoming wedding. Nick hinted that he and Vanessa may wed on New Year’s in Tuscany. Hopefully he won’t have to pretend to be his own best man.

    Awww, give him a break…he’s not phoney, he’s a down-to-earth guy.
I’m sure his brother Drew will be his best man.

I totally agree. I have such a soft spot for Nick, and he seems like a really good guy. I remember on Newlyweds that he did a lot of stuff on his own (and with Drew) that he definitely could have hired someone to do. It just seemed like he wasn’t raised to have people waiting on him.

I remember from Newlyweds that the running joke was how cheap he was. So, not surprising to me… I still think Jessica has a lot of regret over ending it with him.

  4. guesty says:

remember how drew always called him a cheap bastard on newlyweds???!!! lol.

if he’s doing that it’s kinda funny with a touch of ‘how lame’! can’t hate on him tho.

I have an imaginary best friend/publicist.

She’s not speaking to me at the moment.

Also she keeps trying to seduce my husband.

    Such a bitch.

this reminds me of my job – i am a personal assistant and when my boss takes calls when i am away, and he is in a certain mood, he pretends to be my assistant. he has an alias and he covers for me very well. who knows, mabe Nick was playing a joke!

  7. brin says:

I think Eric is Jess’ fiance/personal assistant….#1 function: keep her upright.

  8. Karen says:

@Sarah – Hilarious! It seems as though you have a great boss. And I can’t hate on Nick either…much happiness to him and Vanessa Manillafolders (as MK calls her over at Dlisted).

  9. meg says:

    LOL @ Smith.

I can’t hate on a guy that was at the top and now has to pull stunts like this-all without being b*tchy. It’s kinda cool.

  10. Pix says:

Eh…good for him. Why pay someone to make reservations and arrange for a car service for you when you can do it yourself?

  11. lucy2 says:

He does seem like a nice guy.
If this is true, I’m sure he’s not the only one to do so. At times it’s probably just easier.

  12. The Truth Fairy says:

    Was this REALLY worth posting???

  13. bagladey says:

Love Nick; I wish him well.

I never really cared for Vanessa but I have always thought Nick seemed like such a cute, sweet, down-to-earth guy. Jessica should never have let him go. She might seem all happy now that she’s engaged but deep down you can tell she’ll always think of Nick as the one that got away.
