It took about a week after Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson’s separation announcement for the tabloids to begin pushing stories about Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. Bullock was friends with both Ryan and ScarJo – in fact, Ryan and ScarJo were supposed to be pretty close to Jesse James too, and when the couples were partnered up, it’s said that they all spent time together. Anyway, I have no idea why the tabloids are making it seem like Sandra is more “Team Reynolds” when she hasn’t issued one word or pushed any story about her friends. Perhaps the tabloids just the like idea of Sandra with Ryan… although I can’t think why. It seems like a horrible pairing. Or maybe Sandy is Team Reynolds… because ScarJo fooled around Ryan…? We’ll probably never know.
Anyway, PopEater has another story trying to make Sandy & Ryan happen. This actually makes it seem like they’re close to doing it:
Sandra Bullock has been spending a lot of time with Scarlett Johansson’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Ryan Reynolds, leaving many to wonder if the two are romantically involved.
“Sandra loves Ryan,” a friend of Ryan’s tells me. “They became very good friends when they filmed ‘The Proposal,’ but they are not a couple, at least not yet.”
For now, “They love spending quality time together.”
Adding fuel to the rumors, the two celebrated New Year’s together at Bess Bistro, which Sandra owns in Texas. New photographs show them sitting next to each other with three other friends — with Sandra dressed as a flapper.
“They are both newly single and leaning on each other for support,” an insider tells me. “Who knows what will happen in the future, but any rumors of them being together and splitting up Ryan’s marriage to Scarlett are false.”
My source adds: “Sandra would never get involved with a married man after what her ex did to her. She has way too much respect for Scarlett, Ryan, the institution of marriage and herself to do that.”

I’ll buy that Sandra is the only one with a healthy respect for the institution of marriage. I think she took her vows seriously, and I think she was faithful to Jesse, and that she was devastated when her marriage fell apart. Not so much for ScarJo and Ryan. But this gives me a chance to reprint the old People Magazine interview from last year where Ryan and Sandra are climbing up each other’s asses about how their marriages are so great:
People Mag: You and Jesse and Scarlett are all close. Why do you get along so well?
Reynolds: [To Bullock] I love that your marriage – and forgive the ineloquence here – is not for sale.
Bullock: We’re very similar in that way. There’s an honor and a level of integrity that exists in their home that I really admire … [To Reynolds] I’m just happy you found a good human being. They both take excellent care of each other and they’re honorable, beautiful people.

I don’t hate them together, either….mostly because I think Ryan seems to have a sort of awe-struck respect for her that would keep him on the straight n’ narrow. To get to nail someone you adore the hell out of on a regular basis does tend to keep someone in line………?

Oh no!!! I read elsewhere that there’s pics of them spening New Year’s day together at her restuarant in Austin. This makes me so sad. I can’t get past the feeling that Ryan is a class A douche and not the kind of guy Sandra needs. I know they’re good friends, but I’m starting to get suspicious especially with all the quality time they’re spending together. Why can’t she spend that time with Keanu Reeves instead? Sob! If there’s anything going on, here’s hoping it’s just a hot and heavy fling that burns out like yesterday.

I can’t believe how Ryan’s team is trying to sell this break up for every cent of publicity, especially after all his claims of being so private. At least Scarlett and her people are keeping their traps shut, which leads me to believe she’s the one who actually wanted privacy. They were young, they had a short marriage. I don’t buy for a second that anyone is “devestated” – its offensive to compare what Sandra went through to what Ryan is going through. Sandra had just adopted a child, she and Jesse had built a family together.

I think its great that neither one of them had to celebrate NYE alone. I for one am glad Ryan got out, he probably needed it. In spite of all of the divorce comments that are being made, ending a marriage cannot be easy for either one of them. Divorce is like death, it is a loss and it appears there is still a lot of love between them. They have tried the entire 3 yrs to keep off the public radar but we as fans would not allow that. Sandra can understand this, because she just went thru a public divorce. There is a comment from a person feeling like he is a class A douche, how would you like a public attack on your character like this. From every account I have read about this separation, he has been nothing but a perfect gentleman.

Sandra has a close circle of friends, look at how they kept her secret and guarded her pricacy with Louis thru all that Jessie mess. They could just be good friends. Let’s see if Ryan shows up on her N.Y. set when she starts filming her new movie with Tom Hanks.

I have a theory-Reynolds strikes me as a social climber and a little bit of a famewhore (see gossip rags for leaked stories of his ‘devastation and heartbreak’.)
Think about it: He gets with a more famous significant other and rides her coatails until she’s no use to him anymore.
Examples:
Alanis: She was the more famous then him when they were together and their relationship brought him alot of attention.
Scarjo- A serious upgrade for him, I mean she was the Sexiest Woman Alive, young and one of the most promising actresses at the time.
And now he’s angling for:
Sandra Bullock- America’s Sweetheart
Now I do think he had feelings for all of these women and I do think he has some talent but I also believe he benefited greatly for being with them also.

@Mimi – I actually see your point. It certainly does his image no harm to be ‘associated’ with Sandra as much as possible, she’s the reigning queen of hollywood and perhaps his team is hoping some of that would rub off on him too. Not that he needs it, he seems like a fairly liked guy. But vanity knows no bounds eh?
Btw, most of the reporting on this story has been taken down. The DM site has deleted it and some other sites have taken it down as well. Seems as if someone’s team (read Sandra’s) has been on the move. There was statement released by her rep (interesting that both times the romance stories have cropped up, it’s been *her* people issuing the strictly friends statement and not his). She does not want people thinking they’re more than friends. Also, the photos taken were clearly indoors, someone in the restaurant sneakily snapping away perhaps? I can’t help but feel his team is feeding the tabs with little suggestive tidbits about them, although that could just be my dislike for RR talking.
Of course, if later on it turns out they are/were hooking up, her people are going to look very silly and foolish indeed.
