There was surprisingly little bad fashion at Friday’s Critics Choice Awards in LA. I recapped the awards here – this post is just about the fashion. I guess most people aimed for cocktail gear, and that’s a pretty sweet spot for most of the nominees – the men wore suits, the ladies wore short, sparkly dresses and everybody seemed to get drunk and have a good time. I’m not going to try to do a full fashion recap, just because that would overwhelm me, but I’ll try to highlight my favorite and least favorite looks from the night. Nicole Kidman up there was actually one of my favorite dresses – still photos don’t do the dress justice, it moved beautifully and the detailing was gorgeous. Plus, Nicole can wear the hell out of navy.
You know I like Khloe Kardashian. She’s a giant, she’s funny, she’s pretty crazy, and she’s probably the smartest of the Kardashian women, not that it says much. But Khloe had no business at the Critics Choice Awards, and she had no business in this dress.
Amy Adams had another dress that looked better in motion. In this photo, the fabric looks kind of cheap and tacky, but on camera at the show, it looked very pretty. She should have done something different with her hair, though.
God, Annette Bening looks like a million bucks, doesn’t she? She and Warren dressed to the nines for this event, and they reek of Old Hollywood Glamour.
Sofia Vergara. Motorboat. Sorry, what? Oh, the dress. Eh. It’s okay.
Michelle Williams in a white mullet dress. Ugh. Hated it.
Mila Kunis in basic black. Nice, but not a stunning fashion choice.
Helena Bonham Carter, in what I’m sure is a recycled Vivienne Westwood frock, and what I know is a recycled purse. Still, she’s gorgeous and perfect.
Can we end it on Ryan Gosling? Mm… Gosdong.

OH gosh loved Annette and Warren. Makes you recall real stars and not these wannabes that pollute these event. WHY in the world were the Kardashins at this event. YOU showed Khloe (who is the only one I actually can tolerate) but forgot Kim in that peach thing she was wearing. Just wrong wrong wrong.
I KNOW people love Ryan G..but he looks stupid in that jacket that is too short and small. That pic makes his head look all kinds of huge; like a bobble doll. not a good look. Mila is beautiful, but the dress/shoes make her look way shorter the shoes cut her legs. She is too short for those ties on the shoes. Michelle will never be known for fashion. Everything just fits wrong and just never ever right. Glad this event was not televised.
From seeing the fashions alone it was boring..
Nicole, Annette & Mila looked great and I agree about Khloe, she looked awful and shouldn’t have been there at all.

@ lisa- it was televised, on VH1. So barely, but it was. This was one of the better awards shows, because they kept the pace brisk and handed out the awards with little fuss.
Michelle Williams looks so stupid in that white nightie. Why can’t she wear a sexy little dress? She’s got the body for it.

Nicole’s dress looks like she’s wearing the curtain from my breakfast nook. Chloe looks cheap and tasteless, like all Kardashian spawn. Amy looks like a tired new mother and kind of like Pam from the Office. Annette and Warren still look good together. Silver is a terrible color on Sophia and that dress looks like molded plastic. I’ve over Michelle, she looks freakish in every picture since the nose job. She always looks like she has to work at getting her nose to let her lower lip close her mouth. Mila’s cute as usual and makes it look so easy, damn her. Love Helena, she can do no wrong. She looks cute and comfortable in that getup. I’m over Gosling too, the shaved chest and the form fitting smoking jacket killed my turn on. And his head looks too big for his body, ew.
I’ll agree Annette is gorgeous and a great actress to and so is Amy
Sophie Viagra (sic) looked pretty good and while Mila’s dress wasn’t stunning she is.
WTF were the kardashians there for? Im gonna lose all respect for the REAL hollywood if they allow them at the golden globes or oscars. EWW!

I have not seen any media sites post a picture of Khloe or comment on her look from the Critics Choice awards. It doesn’t matter what Khloe does, she NEVER gets any attention.

Khloe & Kim presented an award, but I can’t even remember what it was anymore. What I do remember is how funny and sadly budget and tacky they looked in a room of Hollywood elite. You could tell just by their dresses and makeup that they’re just two cheapass celebutards crashing the upper crust party. It was kinda sad and pathetic, actually.
Yeah, Nicole wasn’t her usual stunning self, but she still looked pretty, age appropriate and elegant. I think the cut of this dress is particularly weird.

Ugh, I hope the Kardashians get black-listed from the Golden Globe and Oscars after parties, like Paris Hilton did. Famewhore reality stars are not and never will be true Hollywood stars.
I love, love, love Mila. And she did look amazing. But I wish she wouldn’t wear so much black. She has the most amazing eyes and I’d like to see her find a color that really plays them up!
Speaking of famewhores, did you all hear Bethany Frankel from Housewives of NY did a movie, she was the star of a low budget horror movie and it’s recently resurfaced.
I thought she was a chef. Oh how she bragged about her real job vs. Kate Plus 8 mom. Instead she’s a failed actress who found a way to give birth on t.v. herself.
These reality show people are failed entertainers, and we don’t want our guilty indulgences at the real events for talent. They can go to the next Comedy Central Celebrity Roast and sit at a table in the audience but nothing more. It’s a turn off, I won’t watch any award show with them there.
Can’t believe Annette really tamed Warren for this long. She looks great.

Annette Bening looks awful- she IS a beautiful woman and usually looks great at these events but, c’mon…granny glasses? And her hair is blah and the dress does nothing for her shoulders/neck area. I loved Katherine Hepburn, too, but she always looked like a college professor instead of a Hollywood star.
Mila Kunis and Annette Benning both look stunning, for their respective ages, status, and the movies they are promoting. Both are beautiful and talented women. (Warren looks good, too).
Annette looks glamourous and tasteful, quite lovely. Sofia still looks hot to me.

Chloe isnt funny, smart or attractive. Crazy yes- huge- yes! She is an vile gold digger like the rest of the Kardashian women. She married a man she KNOWS cheat on her because he is rich & famous & got her her own reality show. She looks the other way because it was an arranged by her mother business marriage. Michelle Williams i like and think she is a decent actress but this dress and the one she wore to the Golden Globes are terrible.
I guess those Kartrashians slid in on the tails of there waste of air-time show. I wondered why the Beebs was there too,just to walk the new “It Girl” out,it seemed. I thought it was so ridiculous that Annette got the award rather than Julianne (even she was looking like at her like,no way). Annette had a supporting role,she was not in it that much.
I love Julianne but the movie was so boring,frankly I don’t think either one deserved an award. I thought Annette was quite snooty and I have never thought her “old man” was attractive in the least. The last of old Hollywood BS.
