I’m not a Lindsay fan by any stretch, but she definitely made the right decision. If her lout of a father really cared about his family — including his own dad, whose death Michael’s using for his own fame mongering purposes — he’d keep this entire matter private. Even Dina seems like a saint compared to this shithead, and that’s quite a feat.

Well, who could blame Lindsay? It was so obvious that Michael “the sleaze” Lohan was using his father’s funeral as a publicity stunt. Disgusting.
I wonder what he planned to do if Lindsay DID show up? Stage a big huggy-kissy reunion for the cameras? Pose her with his same-age fiancee? Write a nice article for OK! magazine detailing how he tried to guide her into decency and righteousness, and she (ungrateful spawn) did not listen??
Maybe by now the negative backlash towards Michael Lohan’s media antics will be convincing him to keep his mouth shut (at least for a while).

Am I the only person in the world that sees this as disrespectful of her grandfather? Who thinks that, even if you want to skip the funeral, it might have been nicer to have stayed home out of sight during the short time it was occurring?

I think she did the right thing. Which is more respectful? Letting the funeral be dignified and a proper place for the family to say goodbye or turning it into a media circus and photo opp for the attention-whoring Michael, denying the other members of the family their right to grieve in private?
Not only that, but I wouldn’t allow that man to manipulate me via the media either, if I were her. I could see her attending if he had called her up and invited her but to make the comments that he did and expect her to show were beyond belief.

I don’t think it’s disrespectful to not attend a funeral when the obituary was announced in OK! magazine. (Well, not the actual obit – you know what I’m saying.)
Besides, if Lindsey’s grandpa is in anyway cognizant of this earthly realm, I’m sure he understands the circumstances and appreciates her and her family’s private reflection and respect. And if he isn’t cognizant, what does it matter?

We dont know what her realionship with her Grandfather was like. She may not have gotten along with him,if he was anything like his son, who could blame her for staying away from the media circus it would have turned into had she gone.

I’ve got no problem at all with her skipping the funeral, that probably avoided a media circus. It’s just the giggling, giddy shopping spree at the time that’s disrespectful. Some people (maybe 10 or 12) still see her as a role model.

Usually a sad event like a funeral allows people to put past issues aside and realize what is really important, sad she’s not mature enough to see that.
