I wonder if Americans and Europeans understand the analogy differently. I – being European – wouldn’t understand her comment as being totally happy about this waving, but rather feeling a little bit awkward and uber-friendly, as if it was a sensation seeing someone in their driveway – which clearly is something totally normal.

I’m shocked that Posh looks so pretty in yellow – that’s a really lovely color on her, she should wear it more often.
Of course we wave at her – Americans are some of the friendliest people on earth. Of course, we’re also a nation of violent sociopaths, but friendliness usually wins out.

Posh turns my stomach w/ all of her silly poses and her thin lips trying to pout like a sex goddess. As for her hubby-sorry, don’t see what all the fuss is about. Plus his girlie voice is a huge turn off.

Well, I do a lot of yard work and whenever my neighbors pull in or out of their driveways, we always wave at each other. It’s a bit rude not to, actually.
It’s funny that she thinks they’re getting some special celebrity treatment. Here in rural Georgia, it’s just bein’ folksy, ya’ll.

Lol, they are kind of like Disney characters, David especially. But I know what she means. Sometimes, when I’ve been in America, I do feel slightly like I’m actually in a film, something a little bit surreal about seeing things in 3D that you’ve grown up seeing in 2D on screen.

All they do is waste money on PR campaigns so that they somehow stay relevant.
How about Posh first develop some sort of talent, start eating so she would be able to smile or have a facial expression and then we would be able to have something to talk about (like actually doing something!)

Kaiser, really true, the surreal thing. US police, for eg. seem completely unreal. Got stopped while driving in NO once and it was thrilling!! Difficult to explain but I felt I’d been there before I ever went there and the reality is just so…well…real!! America is kind of like one big ongoing movie.
And yeah, extremely friendly, warm, generous people (even the violent sociopaths.) My sis is married to an American, they live in Georgia.

@Geronimo – Of course the violent sociopaths are friendly – we have to get you in the car somehow.
But I understand what you’re saying – the first time I went to NYC, I didn’t feel any different. Then I went to the financial district, and all of sudden I felt like I stepped onto the set of “Working Girl” – all of the buildings, all of the bustling people in immaculate suits. Amped-up reality.
@Diva – For me, two Sudafeds make everything really dreamy… not really like a movie, just seems like everything is softened, frayed.

Give her a break… after the love the Poms give her, a friendly wave by a neighbour must feel like adulation. I’ve been in the US 6 years and have been sucked into the waving at neighbours bit… even ones I rarely say boo to. Very strange.

Posh, not so much. Her boobs look totally bizarre on her scrawny bod, and she always has a freakazoid look on her face, very off-putting, not at all attractive. Their kids are very cute, though.
