Amy Winehouse to buy country retreat… to live with Blake

Amy Winehouse’s dad has admitted that his daughter plans to live in a country estate with her now-incarcerated husband, Blake Fielder Civil, once he’s released from jail. Blake is serving a 27 month sentence after pleading guilty to witness tampering, but the Daily Mail reported that he may get credit for the nine months he’s already served and could be out in just four in a half months on good behavior! That’s about two and a half months away.

Plans are underway to purchase the home for Amy, a $1.3 million 150 year-old farmhouse on three acres in quiet Suffolk, about an hour and a half train ride outside of London:

The troubled pop star is said to be days away from exchanging contracts on the 150-year-old farmhouse.

The hideaway, in a sleepy Suffolk village, boasts seven bedrooms, three sitting rooms and a conservatory.

It also includes three acres of land, stables and a garage for five cars.

A detached barn in the grounds could be converted into a top-notch recording studio.

And there is an airfield within easily travelling distance, which 24- year-old Back to Black star Amy could use to fly in and out whenever she wanted.

A source said: “Amy has been looking for something in the area — and this particular place really is the ideal location.

“It is a really quiet, hidden spot where she would be away from the chaos of her life in London and could concentrate properly on getting her life back on track again.”

The house is being sold following a liquidation and the price has been slashed from £995,000.

It is also convenient for visiting Amy’s junkie husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL, 26, as he serves a 27-month jail sentence for ABH and perverting justice.

Amy’s dad Mitch was in favour of the star’s proposed new country home.

He said: “I hope she will be very happy there.

“When Blake comes out of prison the two of them are going to need somewhere to live together.”

[From The Sun]

Amy didn’t show up for her husband’s sentencing hearing, but the woman widely considered to be his new girlfriend was there and was seen crying afterwards. You would think her family would work to get her sober and keep her away from Blake, he’s only an enabler and she doesn’t need him in her fragile life at this point. There have been several stories about Blake trying to extort money from Amy, and he’s even thought to be behind the release of photos of Amy in sexual scenarios with him (which were thankfully not published) and a controversial video of Amy singing a child’s song replaced with racist lyrics, which he filmed. What is her dad thinking by announcing that she needs a place to live with Blake? It’s a decent idea to move her to the country to try and get her sober, but the last thing she needs is to get back with that guy. Still, she’s bent on destruction whether he’s with her or not.

  1. Yeah, that’s JUST what Wino needs - to be bored and isolated in the middle of nowhere with her pond-life of a husband…

Why does her father keep coming out with this crap? It gives a whole new meaning to denial. He said recently that she can’t wait to start a family and plans to have five children with Blake. HELLO??? She can barely stumble out of bed to find her crack pipe, never mind care for a kid. What she needs is 12 months in rehab, sectioned against her will if that’s what it takes.

    Strawberry In Disguise:

I feel sorry for the 150-year-old house.
Amy’s flat here in Camden is such a mess and she treats it without respect so I guess after those two lived in the Suffolk home it will need a bulldozer.

  3. I’m going to be an optimist (or naive fool) here and take this to mean she is actually going to sign up for treatment at Focus (the rehab place close by which she was reported to be planning to attend about a month ago.)

  4. Carrie and Strawb took the words out of my mouth. I feel sorry for the house too. And wtf is “I’m bored, I’m young …” wino going to DO with 7 bedrooms? At the moment it’s probably going to be one of your nicer crackhouses, until somebody sets it ablaze. The stupid cow can’t even staple on her beehive anymore and wears 4 bras at a time. Very pitiful. I’m losing my compassion for her repetitive destruction.

  5. Is it just me or does her had look reattached in this picture?

I don’t know, maybe if they get some horses and cows (and a farmhand so the animals don’t die of neglect)perhaps focusing on living creatures aside from kittens and baby mice my be a good tonic for her soul.

However, I am not optimistic, sad to say.

  6. I had just really hoped that during Blaaaake’s incarceration they would somehow come to an end as a couple and get a divorce and then she’d wise up and clean up her act, but it’s just not happening, is it?

  7. that country house is probably a Johnny Walker factory or something, and the re-sale value of the place will probably $0.00 when she gets done with it…. I mean, who’d want to buy a garbage pit. maybe someone just threw a cardboard box into a field, and Amy thought it was country house. Besides i only give ‘em about a month before they kill each other or go crazy….well i guess they’re already that!

  9. @Starla - there’s a country song to that effect, something about “Gonna Hire a Wino to Decorate Our Home”. David Frizzell and Shelly West, about 20-25 years ago. Great idea for Amy and Blaaake.

  12. OMG the WORST thing in the world for an addict is to be isolated, bored or lonely. What a disastrous move. I’ve seen this happen where a couple I know moved into a fairly remote country area and they both spiralled down into their addictions and alcoholism so badly that the place is now in foreclosure. It’s a miracle that both of them are still alive.

Also, the idea of them having children fills me with absolute horror. Her dad really is losing his grip if he thinks this is a good idea. She probably couldn’t even conceive in her present condition. Let’s hope not. Fetal alcohol syndrome anyone?

I still feel badly for her because I think she was a genuinly nice person.
