Amy Winehouse punched a female dancer in the eye

Boy Amy Winehouse sure is running towards rock bottom at a sprint. The singer was widely reported to have ruined her 12-year-old goddaughter’s singing debut at the End of Summer Ball in London on Thursday night. She also tried to headbutt the event’s official photographer (according to another source she did manage to punch him). She looked absolutely wasted and out of it in all the pictures from the night – though something tells me that photographer wasn’t inclined to take the most flattering pictures after all that. Now the Sun has a report saying that Amy punched a female dancer in the eye at the ball. Because otherwise she wouldn’t have brought enough drama to the evening.

AMY WINEHOUSE faces arrest after allegedly whacking a woman dancer in the face. Sherene Flash, 30, said junkie Amy punched her in the eye after she asked to take the star’s picture. Amy then ran off, crying out: “Life can’t go on. I can’t do this any more.”

Cops were called to the £700-a-ticket End Of Summer Ball in central London, where Amy performed, and took a statement from Sherene. They are expected to quiz Back To Black and Rehab singer Amy, 25, later.

A pal said: “Sherene asked Amy if she could take a photo. Amy was OK at first, but when Sherene asked if a friend could get in the shot, Amy lashed out.” A source said: “She was getting distressed. There was a lot of grabbing and flashbulbs were going off. She was startled.”

[From the Sun]

Earlier this month it was reported that Winehouse has such severe brain damage from all of her drug and alcohol abuse that it’s brought on symptoms normally associated with schizophrenia. That – combined with the decent possibility that she was on drugs that night – could certainly explain Amy’s behavior. It sounds like she was in a real state of agitation.

Amy’s clearly at a point where she’s not just a danger to herself but to others. At what point does someone step in and do something? I seriously doubt the police will do anything besides giving her another caution. However she has racked up several of those for other assaults and drug infractions, so maybe she’ll actually get in a little bit of trouble. Nothing that’ll actually force her to change her behavior, I’m sure, but some token gesture to the public that says, “We’re sorry that Amy Winehouse is out and about, roaming around, and may lunge from a bush at any moment and attack you. And get away with it.”

britain is notoriously too lax on drug related issues (look at pete doherty). i have a feeling this will just keep continuing until (if) she decides to clean up her act. otherwise, people should probably start writing her off and then maybe she will see the damage her abuse is causing her and everyone around her…

  2. Danielle says:

Good God she looks so gaunt. At what point will people step in to stop this nonsense? She needs a straight jacket. Badly. She’s going to seriously maim someone.

  3. vdantev says:

    So classy.

  4. SolitaryAngel says:

@ JayBird: Normally, I love your flippancy and humor, but not with Amy Winehouse. She is no longer a laughing matter. 🙄

  5. Codzilla says:

When is somebody going to start punching back? It’s not like she’s Mike Tyson; even the slightest nudge would send her tumbling across the room.

  6. Alecto says:

Is her hair fake? I’ve been wondering if it’s actually a wig or something. As nasty and wasted as she always looks her hair is never oily. It gets 9 kinds of ratty but not oily. Can’t imagine how she could wash it or anything without having to brush out the nest. Not that she looks like she washes much. Plus as thin as she is with the drug use I would think her hair would be getting thin and not grow much instead of as long as it is. Hmm just wondering.

  7. Codzilla says:

Alecto: I think it’s a wig, but admittedly don’t know for sure. I agree with you that as unhealthy as she is, her real hair would likely be brittle and falling out in clumps.

  8. Lola says:

Goodness celebitchy, put up those sarah Palin interviews. That stuff is made for hollywood.

  9. Victoria says:

Hey CODZILLA and ALECTO…I saw a picture of Amy Whinyhouse, on JUST JARED.com, when her hair was wet and down after a brawl on a London street…It was thick and overly teased, but the top part looked layered. ( and dirty )Maybe she just teases the crap out of it, and that is why it looks damaged and disgusting..I did NOT see anything resembling a wig, unless it had fallen off, as I could see her scalp through the dirty teasing. But that does NOT mean anything guys..Just saying!!

lol I have nothing to say lol when is she going to put out her new single “wankin the wankers” I would so download that one lol.

  11. Mark says:

Will she just go ahead and die already? Tragically but die nonetheless.

If the British tabs are to be believed, this woman can barely function and is on the brink of death 24/7. Yet, inexplicably, many of these horrendous stories come from venues where she was on stage and performing. I don’t think an incoherent, drugged-up, stumbling madwoman could keep getting gig after gig like this. She would have been judged a danger to herself and others, and be locked up or involuntarily committed to a mental institution by now.

If the Sun and the Mail are to be believed, she gets onstage, grunts out a few notes, and then gets boo-ed off the stage by angry crowds. When you read comments made by people who actually attend her shows, they never sound so dire. Nobody would ever buy a ticket, or even show up to a free show, if she couldn’t finish a single song without passing out or getting sick on herself. Even people who enjoy freak shows and train wrecks would have had enough of her antics by now.

Yes, I’m sure she is a drug addict and parties way past the point of stupidity. However, she is also apparently capable of making plans and showing up for performance commitments, court dates, family social gatherings, etc.

Unless she actually gets arrested and jailed for something, I’m not going to believe any more of these stories about her. I have plenty of tales I could tell about the ridiculous alcohol-fueled situations and fights my friends and I got into during our 20-something years. Many of them did recreational drugs on a regular basis, as well. We all turned out fine. 😀

  13. Kat says:

They are waiting for her to kill somebody, she pleads insanity, and they put her away. We don’t see her for a long time until she is a little old wheezing lady, with a gray beehive.

Agree with Solitary Angel. Not even vaguely funny, not when someone is as plainly chronically ill as Amy is. Seems the rules have gone out the wondow as far as Amy’s concerned – surprised and, sorry to say, disgusted at the lack of compassion and judgement here.

That’s the bar people must clear now? They show up? You do realize that every entertainer on Earth has ‘handlers’ right? People who’s entire existence is centered around nothing more than making sure these people show up where they’re supposed to be at least 4 hours or so on either side of the time they’re supposed to be there.

Really, I’m not trying to single you out, but I’ve seen this argument about her enough that it’s started to get on my nerves. Now, I applaud anyone who questions the crap these publications put out, but this is one case where exaggeration or indeed sensationalism is simply not necessary.

What part about these incidents don’t you believe? If I remember correctly, at least one, but possibly more, of them have been caught by photographers. As far as her ‘showing up’ at her concerts, that seems to be ALL she’s doing. Read a few more stories on this very site about her and you’ll see a lot of people who’ve been to her recent concerts complaining that she was barely coherent at most of them.

My point is – she makes none of her own plans, there is likely a team of people just for that purpose alone. The one thing she’s actually required to do, which is to perform, she’s screwing up.

The only reason this irritates me is because it’s yet another example of how celebrities are granted a special status under the law. If you or I went walking down the street drunk or stoned out of our mind, taking swings at people, we’d understandably be arrested. I think it’s about time we stopped trying to help Amy, and start trying to help her victims.

  16. geronimo says:

@miss_kitteh – everything is relative. On the very rare occasions this year when Amy actually managed to force out a lyric or two in the right order, it was regarded as ok by die-hard Amy fans because the bar has been set so low. What her management is up, God alone knows.

Scott – She’s sick. This is chronic addiction. She’s not in a position to make any judgements about anything. The only REAL outrage here is why she hasn’t been sectioned by her family. She’s now a danger to both herself and others – the criteria for involuntary sectioning here – and yet her family/management continue to enable her to die on stage as, no doubt, a rehearsal for how she’ll most likely die in the near future on life’s stage – the front pages of the tabloids.

  17. Why do people keep hiring her to do gigs? She is a walking disaster.

Her family should be ashamed of themselves for being enablers. 😐

  18. Orangejulius says:

The anorexia alone is enough to change her brain chemistry, rendering her incapable of logical thought, not to mention all the other stuff she’s taking. Physiologically, she is not functioning properly. It’s no surprise she’s erratic and volatile.

    It sucks.

Every other day, we read another article or see another news blip about how Amy Winehouse has hit rock bottom — no, seriously, this is it! Rock bottom!

And then the next day — wait, we were wrong! There’s more! And now, for sure, this is ROCK FREAKING BOTTOM!

And then the next day — okay, okay, so we were wrong, but this has GOT to be rock bottom! Seriously, could it get any worse!? She’s got to clean up her act soon, right?!

And then the next day…well, you get it. I don’t know what kind of warp hole Winehouse has jumped into, but apparently there’s no bottom. It just keeps getting worse and worse and worse…

  20. geekazoid says:

It’s called PITY people, they aren’t doing anything because she’s not asking for help. They’re only allowing her to roam about out of pity.

The celeb of this day and age are all on some kind of substance and are on a distructive path. It’s not out of the blue that this happened if you all look back at her life you can practically target the EXACT moment her life began it’s desent into darkness.

The same with Britney Spears, Heath Ledger, River phoenix, Kristen Dunst, L. Lohan, Shia Leboulf, Hogan Jr, ect it’s quite a list that goes on and on.

There is a moment, an instant that flings these already fragile sensitive people off course. The end result is death. But if you look into it, it’s all avoidable. The answer is L.O.V.E, as cliche as it may sound it’s true. Unconditional love.

Call it what you will but that is my belief.

  21. Kylie says:

I just hope she cleans herself up soon. She has a long and hard road ahead of her.
Mark – what a dumb thing to say. Shame on you!

  22. fee says:

If she hit me for no reason I’d lay the bitch out! Wasted on drugs, mentally ill…whatever, you dont go smacking strangers and get away with it!

I say this as a fan: it’s time for the tranquilizer gun. Trank her and put her in a forced detox, lockup. She’s clearly not able to make adult decisions. Or hell, any kind of decisions. If you saw this creature on the street panhandling, you wouldn’t bat an eye, because she looks just like a coked out street living panhandling bum. In one pic you can see dirt all over her arm. What the hell, people? She looks like she lives under a bridge and drinks out of a paper bag. Do her parents SEE this????

  24. Jeanne says:

Why is this chick still running loose and not locked up in a jail, or rehab, or a hospital? If it was a male rock star/pop singer he’d been locked up a few times already. What are they waiting for?
