Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner prefer traditional baby names

No one knows whether Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are having a boy or a girl, but one thing’s for sure: the couple is not a fan of the trendy Hollywood baby names like “Zuma” or “Apple.” It’s obvious with the name they chose for their first child, Violet, that they prefer more traditional names. Sources are reporting that if baby # 2 is a boy, they may name him after daddy.

BEN AFFLECK and JENNIFER GARNER have rejected weird Hollywood names in favour of the traditional, for baby number two.

The celebrity couple, parents to two year old VIOLET, dislike the trendy names chosen by other celebs such as GWYNETH PALTROW, who named her daughter APPLE, and NICHOLAS CAGE, who saddled his son with KAL-EL.

“Ben put his foot down and said no way to trendy Hollywood names,” said a source.

“If it’s a boy, he likes the name Benjamin, not just because it’s his name but it’s that of his hero, Benjamin Franklin.”

Finding a name you can both agree on is one of the hardest parts of the pregnancy. Every time I come across a name I like, my husband poo-poo’s it. His biggest concern is finding a name that other kids won’t make fun of. It’s practically impossible to find a name that meets that criteria! After months of back and forth, and only three and a half months to go, we have finally whittled down a short list of boy names that we both like - but we still can’t decide. I wish Ben and Jennifer luck!

  2. I’m with you MSat - finding a name, especially for a boy, is much more difficult than I ever would have imagined! We decided to keep our list of potential names secret, because no matter what you end up choosing, people always seem to have their own opinions about it - even if they’re negative! So, everyone will have to wait until the little guy is here, and then hopefully they’ll keep their mouths shut if they don’t like his name.

  4. For that matter, just me, why isn’t Violet walking? She’s big enough to eat hay and pull a plow.

I like traditional names, too, although I’m not sure I’d call Violet a traditional name. Old fashioned, maybe, but still a little odd.

  5. I like the name Violet, very pretty. I think people analyze photos too much. I just see a happy family walking down the street….if they’re all happy, who cares who’s carrying who or if they’re smiling, or if or if….big deal.

  6. I’m surprised with names as plain as Ben and Jennifer that they wouldn’t want to spice it up a little more. How about Nutmeg? Or Cheeseburger?

  8. To the people asking why isnt Violet walking - She has no shoes on :P

Plus if my family was surrounded by strange assholes shouting things and taking pictures, i not sure I’d let my kid walk either.

  9. My fiance & I both like more traditional names too. But not common everyday names. If we ever have a boy we’re gonna call him Declan.

  10. I get the protective vibe from these pictures of him walking in front of them. I don’t know, but that’s my guess. Leading the way to keep the paps off of the girls.

  11. Jesus. If it’s a boy and they name him “Ben Junior” he will be teased 4 EVA as “B.J.” and “Beej” and “Yo, Fellatio!”

And then comes all of the oral sex references. I would never do *that* to my child. :?

  16. Actually, I like Franklin as a christian name.

CCM - put down the beer/bong and back away from the computer - De-feckin’-Klan indeed

Better call him Déaglán, Bodhi otherwise poor ickle CCM will be offended

But be warned, if he ever visits certain parts of Ireland it’ll be shortened to Decco and he’ll be forced to sound like Colin Farrell doing his “deadly buzz” accent and say stuff like ’story buuuud? 8O

(oh yeah and Natalie is played by Maria Doyle Kennedy who was also Catharine of Aragon off The Tudors  And the red-head is a very young Glen Hansard what won the Best Song Oscar )

  17. yeah my husband and I have been talking about baby names since we’re going to start trying soon and they only ones we can agree on are Jacoby Craig for a boy and Shea Lynn for a girl. I was really pulling for Shea Estelle but yeah… hubby was a poo poo head over that…

  20. Declan is lovely, so is Ronin. My current fave is Ruaidhri (Gaelic for Rory - pronounced RooRi) and my friend’s just called her baby boy Oisin.

  21. bodhi, best wishes on your engagement. Declan is a great irish name. I think Violet is a sweet name and you don’t hear it that often.

I see jennifer garner as much more the parent type in this relationship. But that is just me.

  22. Very interesting names Bodhi and the rest of you who have thrown out a few. I have always liked interesting names - not weird names like Apple, but interesting ones that stand out from everyone else. (You could never tell that from my generic screen name though :) )

TC - I got that same vibe. He’s walking in front to keep people away from his girls - she’s not walking two feet behind him for any reason.
