Mariah Carey gave birth to her twins today, no names yet!

mariahheader

Yay! Mariah Carey gave birth to her twins just a few short hours ago. Guess what today is? Mariah and Nick’s anniversary! Only Mariah’s uterus would have it planned this way. Now Nick and Mariah get to celebrate their love all over the place on April 30! Aw, I’m really, really happy for Mariah and Nick and the babies. I love the way Mariah handled her pregnancy publicly, although I know not everybody enjoyed her TMI. I thought it was wonderful – she wanted us to celebrate. So, YAY!

April 30 is double the pleasure for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Not only did they welcome twins, but the couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary, too!

Carey, 41, delivered the babies Saturday at 12:07 p.m. EDT at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles. Carey’s representative, Cindi Berger, confirmed the births to The Associated Press, saying the baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 18 inches long; her brother was next, at 5 pounds 6 ounces, and was 19 inches.

And it was just as Cannon predicted. “I’m not trying to be a psychic, but we renew our vows every year so … It’s probably going to be in the hospital this year. I can feel it,” Cannon said Thursday when he guest-hosted The Talk. “We got the minister coming in, so this gown will not be a wedding gown, but a hospital gown.”

Berger says they were listening to Carey’s “We Belong Together” after the children were born.

Long before the births, the couple made no secret of their desire to have children. Last October when they first made Carey’s pregnancy public, Cannon said that “the greatest gift on earth is a child.”

Throughout Carey’s pregnancy, the parents-to-be were cautious about revealing too many personal details since the couple had a “long journey” to parenthood, Cannon said in December.

That the singer was expecting twins was chattered about for months before Cannon finally confirmed it in December.

As for the origin of their babies’ names, Cannon told PEOPLE in January that the couple had aimed for unique but not wacky. “They won’t be crazy names like Carburetor or something,” he promised. “But they’re definitely unique.”

[From People]

Well, congratulations to them, and I can’t wait to hear the names. You know that Mariah’s idea of a “not wacky” name is totally different than our idea. Fingers crossed for some variation of Sparklepony, Blueberry, Princess Glitter, Nickalicious, Butterfly Sequin and/or various gemstones. Ruby, Sapphire (for a boy), Diamond, Aquamarine, Emerald, Garnet, whatever. Congrats, MIMI!!

On their wedding anniversary! How sweet! I was just about to email you about this!

And why am I always in mod? 🙁

  2. lrm says:

um, didn’t she have c-section with the twins? and most likely it was planned? so did they schedule it for this date?

  3. DGO says:

I love her, and am happy for them. Best wishes to the new family!

  4. Zelda says:

“Carey was set to give birth Friday, but demanded doctors intervene with use of a “super-vagina-cork”, so as not to be overshadowed by the royal wedding.”

  5. Devon says:

That’s exciting that they were born on their anniversary. No better way to celebrate the day that you were married than with the biggest expressions of love. I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised by their names! Congratulations!

  6. courtney says:

congrats to the new family greatest gift in the world is healthy children. who wants to bet that the girls middle name will be either elizabeth Or Patricia for one of their mothers and the boys middle name could be morgan for Mariah’s older brother

  7. Zoya says:

Fucking finely a post unrelated to the royal boring ass wedding. Thank you Jesus.

  8. Ellaeve says:

Awwwww congrats to the happy family! 😀 This warms my black cold heart. Yayness all around!

  9. teehee says:

I find that darker pigmentation in a stripe so odd…. I know its normal but its just to peculiar that it happens!

  10. Nanea says:

    Dem Babies are here!

    Congrats to the happy family!

    *tosses sparkly butterfly confetti*

  11. Kiska says:

It seemed like she was pregnant for an eternity. I’m really happy for them.

  12. wenderwoman says:

Has anyone noticed that she must have one nasty bellybutton? In the “dem babies” picture, it has a couple of bandaids over it. And in other photos it’s been photo-chopped. Congrats on the babies!

  13. the original bellaluna says:

I absolutely LOVE the pictures of them together with her pregnant belly! I’ve always been a sucker for those types of pix.

Congrats to both of them, and I hope the babies are healthy and happy!

@ wenderwoman – Some preggers mommies-to-be just can’t deal with their “innie” becoming an “outie.” I’m pretty sure that’s what the band-aids are for, though that level of “modesty” should be done-in by then. There’s absolutely NOTHING more modesty-destroying than pregnancy and childbirth.

  14. nnn says:

I am happy for them! Mariah is a great aunt and im sure she’ll be a great mum too.

I like her with Nick. They seem to bring the best out of each other.

    • i am very happy for both of them and they do bring the best out of each other and i am so happy they have there babies . i wish them only the very best of everything. now for a update i know nick is in the hospital with a kiddney problum and i am praying for him mareah he will make it alright i have had a problum off an on an today they have things that can always do wonders god bless all of you cannons my love and my heart gos out to all 4 of you pattiesalles

  15. KLO says:

    YAYYY LOL
I’m happy for them too. Can’t wait to see their pretty little faces.

  16. PrettyTarheel says:

@the original bellaluna and wenderwoman: the bandaids could be due to the fact that her belly button is extremely tender. The skin in your belly button is never exposed to fabrics or chafing, and so is extremely tender and vulnerable when it pops out. Protecting it, with either band aids or gauze and tape, and keeping it healthy if it gets chafed, are important for comfort. You’ve got enough going on with a baby’s head on your bladder and feet in your ribs to deal with one more uncomfortable feeling.

  17. filthycute says:

Her belly looks like a giant tit.

    Why am I moderated??

  18. sue says:

Mariah was trying to upstage the royal wedding! Ha! Scheduling her C-section on her anniversary is pretty lame. She’s such an attention _hore. Those pictures say it all….look at me….guess what, Mariah, it’s no longer about you….doubt she will ever get it. She needs to disappear with her children and money and stop looking for attention like some desperate has-been.

  19. MeriJaan says:

The girl will look more African American and the boy will look more Caucasian….u watch, mark my words. 🙂

  20. Berry says:

Happy to see my ‘ we belong together’ artiste turn to a mama. She just added to her Responsibilities.

  21. lucy2 says:

    Congrats to them!
Does he seriously have her name in a giant tattoo on his back? Man, he’d better hope they never break up!
I can’t imagine having photos like that on magazine covers. Just seems weird too me.

  22. courtney says:

Nick did the tattoo of her name on his back after their wedding and she’s got a butterfly on hers. when she did the butterfly painted on her belly while she was pregnant she taped her belly button down so the paint wouldn’t smudge. they love each other so much that the twins will only add to that can’t wait for the names betting on Nicholas Alfred David & Caroline Elizabeth Marie {Alfred after her late fateher and Elizabeth after his mother Betty

  23. OtherChris says:

Good for them. He really does seem to love her; it’s so darn sweet. Could have done without those photos though, but I kind of a hate all of those half-nude arty preggo photos.

  24. carrie says:

happy for them: she tried since many years to have kids and i guess the kids will be spoiled

  25. Isa says:

Aaaah I didn’t even think about her having a c-section and scheduling it for this day! Doh!

teehee- It is weird isn’t it? I was sooo shocked when it happened to me because I had honestly never seen it before on anyone else! I understand how it happens, but I still find it odd. At least the darkening of the nipples has an actual reason!

  26. jc126 says:

Finallly!!! Seems like she’s been pregnant forever. I do think she probably insisted on a C section on her anniversary, but okay. I think the names will be atrocious, not sure HOW – whether something made-up and pretentious, or ancient Biblical and ugly.
I also always feel like poor Nick Cannon must be exhausted every night with the way she must work him and need to be catered to.
    Congrats to them!

  27. Stephy2585 says:

    I’m a sucker for pregnant belly with husband/kids photos…

But personally speaking, I wouldn’t agree to have it done by a magazine that sold for $1.96…Just sayin…

  28. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I agree with those of you who said she scheduled her C-section for their anniversary.

@teehee that dark line, the linea negra, doesn’t appear on everyone. I didn’t get it with either pregnancy. However, my friend got it and it never went away. ITA that it is a strange side effect of many pregnancies.

  29. S says:

I am SO naming my first child Carburettor. Ha!

  30. tess says:

yes, definitely, if the kids were born at the same time, it was a c-section. twins born v@gin@lly would be a few minutes apart.
totally agree she scheduled the section for this date.
the twins are a good weight, congratulations to the new family…let’s see how this pans out!

  31. Louise says:

I haven’t seen the OK mag photos before. They are hilarious. As cheesy as they are, Mariah and Nick seem to really love each other. So I’m happy for them.

  32. paula says:

Mariah acts like she’s the only woman to have ever given birth…give me a break. Oh yeah, her pregnancy is sooooooo special. Barf. Stupid pictures. She really is an attention hoe.

Back to the royal wedding, please.

  33. Jb says:

Those pregnancy pics are…not for me. No way, no how.

  34. Lindy says:

Gross. I cannot abide her over-the-top, I have two brain-cells, famewhorey ways. Also, she really is a pretty mediocre talent. So she can hit high notes *and* low notes. Uh, wow. Color me excited. Those pictures are classless and way TMI.

  35. courtney says:

Uh no she didn’t insist on the c-section it was advised by her doctors when they discovered one of the twins was in breach presentation so had they attempted a vaginal delivery she could’ve lost her life giving birth.

  36. mln76 says:

In honor of the royal wedding one of these kids should be called Marmajesty

  37. beanie says:

Congrats to Nick and Mariah! They finally have their babies! Can’t wait to see the first photos!!

  38. ViktoryGin says:

I’ve got that dark line naturally, and I’ve never been pregnant. SMH. If I ever get pregnant, it’s going to look like someone attacked me with a black sharpie. Not cute.

Congrats to Mariah. And and Nick, too.

  39. John Wayne Lives says:

She did not give birth. She had them surgically removed. On a day she chose. On her anniversary. On purpose. God this woman is too fu@king much.
And I’m sorry, but I cannot see this woman “labouring” at all.
But I really like her nursery 🙂

  40. Kasey says:

Seriously if Kaiser/CB didn’t write at least ONE interesting un-British wedding related post before Monday (as promised) I was thinking of not coming back. I refused to believe that nothing momentous occured in the entire world save the Royal nuptials for TWO days?! I find that unbelievable.

Anyway…. Congrats to them this is exciting news! C-section or not I’m glad SOMEONE showed mercy on me and did something newsworthy this weekend! For this, the crazy Carey-Cannon family gets a future pass on EVERYTHING!

  41. yusuf says:

i wish to congratulate the whole world on the birth of MARIEH twins.she always a great singer, definately she be a good mother

  42. kiko says:

    congrats!!!can’t wait for the names!!

  43. Maritza says:

I can’t wait to see the baby photos.

  44. The bets one ever show for is reproducing yourself by giving to the world a baby. I am happy for them.

  45. the original bellaluna says:

@ Morticians & ViktoryGin – The “linea negra” usually doesn’t start happening until around the 5th month. It starts small and gets longer and darker as the pregnancy progresses. It’s also much more common in women with brown or black hair.

@ PrettyTarheel – I never knew that! I’ve been preggers 4x and never had that kind of sensitivity in my belly button – WEIRD! (And mine is a serious innie, so you’d think I’d have had the same problem.)

  46. TG says:

Nick Cannon reminds me of Danny Moder as long as their wives remain the center of their universe the star and they keep worshipping them their marriage will last. Mariah and Julia are both alike everything must be about them 100% of the time.

Can’t wait to see the pics of the twins bet they are cute certainly cuter than their gross mom.

  47. Stephy2585 says:

I can’t wait for the names!!

  48. Estella says:

These pregnancy photos walk the line between tacky and terrifying.

  49. TeeTee says:

    I’m happy for them!!

I’m so glad that she did not get all weird w/gain weight and considered the health of her kids first.

    go MiMi!

  50. Isa says:

I imagine if the baby was breach they would’ve known about it for some time. I think she held out to try to have them on her anniversary and luckily she was able to last that long.

VictoryGin- Mine was noticeable before I got pregnant too. It got pretty dark and was really wide with my first kid. It fades pretty well after birth but I took matters into my own hands by putting a piece of dark tape down it and laying in the tanning bed a few times! lol. I don’t normally tan but I was desperate!

  51. Justaposter says:

“She did not give birth. She had them surgically removed.”

WHAT?! That is the dumbest thing I have ever read!

It doesn’t matter how babies are born, just as long as Mother and baby (or babies) are both healthy!

So according to you, I didn’t give “birth” to my 3?! *side eye*

Now onto more important things BABIES THE BABIES ARE HERE! YAY!

  52. Janna says:

There’s a few really ugly people on here. When you have to get on a site to post something ugly about the birth of twins to a couple who had lost a baby and had been trying and the mom over forty, so worried this miracle might never happen, well, that’s sad. What is this world coming to.

The birth of babies to a couple in love is beautiful. Much happiness to Nick and Mariah.

  53. PrettyTarheel says:

@the original bellaluna: Mine isn’t completely popped yet @ 36 wks, but it’s a bit shallow-er than it used to be, and very tender. It may depend on your skin, I have sensitive skin anyways, but from what I’ve read and what I’ve experienced, it’s nooo fun to have a sore bellybutton. It’s one of the things I never thought about until it happened to me. Lucky you for avoiding it.

  54. courtney says:

Janna you read my mind I was just going to say the same thing.and celebs have been baving kids over 40 for decades Male or female Audrey Hepburn had her youngest son Luca at Mariah’s age in 1970 and nobody fussed over it then and Mariah isn’t ugly by a long shot she’s actually one of the most beautiful women in the world and one of the kindest as well I should Know I’ve met her once. knowing what you want & how to get it and being self centered are two different things both Mariah & Julia are Legends in their chosen field of entertainetment and loved by most they come in contact with and Julia earns extra brownie points with me for her involvement with the Hole In The Wall Gang Camps and her close friendship with it’s founders Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward with whom she visits semi regularly particularly since Paul passed away nearly 3 years ago all that matters is everyone is safe & Healthy

  55. original kate says:

good for them and all but can we please never never show these photos again?!

ETA: mr. original kate just saw them and said they look like photos from the “awkward family photo” site. he’s right!

  56. Me says:

Fuck sakes what is with pregnant women and naked photo shoots. Gag!

  57. Stephanie says:

    Damn she was pregnant forever!

  58. Faye says:

Congratulations!! I bet they’re going to make such a cute family. I’m looking forward to hearing names and seeing a family portrait (which you know they’re going to release.)

  59. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

YESSS! Courtney managed another 6 degrees of Joanne Woodward! My day is now complete.

  60. Isa says:

MorticiansDoItDeader- I wish we had the option to “like” a comment on here! haha.

  61. Sumodo1 says:

@courtney: contrary! I was 20 and a fertility patient when Audrey Hepburn was pregnant, and her Swiss treatments were in the press a lot. I wouldn’t be here, myself, except for pioneering Swiss ob-gyns.

  62. okedusi thaiwwor says:

Am very happy for them.watin to hear their name.welcome to this whorld babies…….

  63. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@Sumodo1 don’t bother, Courtney refuses to believe any of her beloved stars may have had treatment for infertility. We had a discussion on another thread re: Mariah’s struggles with infertility and the possibility that she may have sought medical intervention. This was very offensive to Courtney. As the product of fertility treatments (and the mother of two boys who wouldn’t be here without such treatments) I was unaware that I should be ashamed of the means by which my children and I came to be on this earth.

    Isa ;P

  64. RHONYC says:

that picture of nick kneeling beneath her holding her tummy is HILARIOUS!

leave it to mariah to have her hubby down ON. HIS. KNEES. WOOOOORSHIPING her & their unborn spawn.

    such a mothaf*ckin’ diva. i LOVE it!

    😆

  65. adebowale says:

l am really thrilled for her newborns, she has reasons to renew her love for nick everyday, they are cute 2da and they will be lovely parents

  66. John Wayne Lives says:

    @ justaposer.
And I reserve my right to give the side eye to women who choose to have a doctor surgically bring their babies out of the womb on a scheduled day, instead of doing it themselves, unless there is a medical need for it.

  67. sugarwall says:

dem babies are here! yay! =)

  68. SolitaryAngel says:

Mariah said something once about childbirth (before she met Nick) that I will NEVER forget: she said “I don’t want kids because the act of having them–as in actual childbirth–would feel like I was being violated down there”. Gah..

  69. omer mairno says:

i wish to congratulate the whole world on the birth of MARIEH twins

  70. I have been exploring for a little bit for any high quality articles or blog posts on this sort of space . Exploring in Yahoo I ultimately stumbled upon this site. Studying this info So i’m satisfied to convey that I’ve an incredibly good uncanny feeling I found out just what I needed.
