Stevie Nicks on Lindsay Lohan playing her “never going to happen”

Lindsay Lohan has made it known that she wants to play Stevie Nicks at some point and announced half-assed plans to buy the rights to Stevie’s story about two years ago. Back then, Stevie said that Lindsay would play her “over my dead body,” but seemed to think there was some wiggle room there. She added “She needs to stop doing drugs and get a grip. Then maybe we’ll talk.”

Two years later and Lindsay is still strung out and she’s in even deeper trouble with the law. In an interview with CNN, Stevie was asked again about whether she would consent to having Lindsay play her in a movie, and she basically repeated what she said before – that Lindsay needed to clean up first:

“In Your Dreams” isn’t just the title of Stevie Nicks’ first solo album in 10 years – it’s also what she’s saying to Lindsay Lohan, who reportedly wants to play the iconic Fleetwood Mac singer in a movie.

“She’s never going to,” Nicks told CNN. “That’s never going to happen unless she cleans up her life and becomes the great actress I feel she can be. Everybody thinks I hate her, and it’s not that at all.”

Nicks, who went to rehab twice (the first time for cocaine addiction, the second for pills) earlier in her career, said: “I just want her to get it together.”

“I was completely messed up for a long time and I got it together,” she went on. “She’s a very talented girl … if she could get it together, she could have a really big career and she could do great things.”

[From CNN]

As you know, Lindsay was sentenced to 120 days in jail for violating probation and still faces separate theft charges. Kaiser covered her braless appearance at community service, for which she was sure to notify the paps ahead of time. And as Kaiser reported yesterday, Lindsay may skate by without doing any jail time whatsoever and might simply have to wear an ankle bracelet and be confined to home. Lindsay’s people seem to be feeding a lot of stories to TMZ, though, and I’m hoping that someone will finally throw the book at her entitled ass. One thing is for sure, she’s a long way, if ever, from playing Stevie Nicks, especially if she expects to fund the project herself somehow.

Go Stevie Nicks! I love her. She is an amazing singer. I am so glad that she is stating that she will not allow Lindsay to do something, and I completely agree with her. Hopefully,if enough people tell her NO, she will realize that she is not all that, and nobody really cares about her, anymore. Since the law is not really holding her responsible for her actions, hopefully other people will, otherwise she will never learn. Especially when her mother seems to think she is entitled to whatever she wants.

  2. lucy2 says:

Good for Stevie for making it clear rather than dancing around it. Except I don’t think Linnocent has any intentions of ever cleaning up.

  3. dorothy says:

Thank god someone that knows better that messed up girl in a movie. Too bad the producers of the Gotti movie haven’t wised up. Guess they’ll catch on when they start filming and the trouble starts or realize no one will pay to see it.

  4. Quest says:

Take that in your droppy bongs and smoke it La Lohan – good for Stevie

  5. Ell says:

I hope it never happens, even if Lohan does get her act together. I’ve loved Stevie Nicks since I can remember, even called one of my cat’s Stevie Nicks….that cat used to be trouble! Anyway I’m sure there’s some lovely actress out there with the looks and the voice who could do a better job.

I was listening to tracks off her new album on youtube the other day, it sounds fab, especially the duet with Kate Bush. But doesn’t come out until the end of June in the UK:(

  6. the_blonde_one says:

not a baaaaaaaa-d statement ms nicks! I <3 Stevie and REALLY respect that she’s obviously not a sell out and obviously not afraid to say what’s really going on.

  7. mln76 says:

I love Stevie Nicks she’s a really smart lady. I hope that if there is a movie they pick someone with actual talent and charisma I think even a sober Lindsay would ruin that story (which is juicy as rock star bios go).

  8. You don't say says:

Stevie Nicks speaks from experience. She nearly messed up her life with drugs, then she got it together. She has talent and a mind of her own. Good on her!!

  9. Magsy says:

That’s right Stevie. She needs tough talk. You know mama ain’t giving it to her. Lindsay could play Courtney Love instead and wouldn’t even have to kick drugs. Or dye her hair and play Amy Winehouse.

  10. Kasey says:

I think Nicks’ statements were wise and even potentially helpful to LL. However, I can’t help but feel that if this DOESN’T go as LL wants down the road it’ll be all about that awful Stevie Nicks and how she doesn’t like her, has it out for her and was being so horribly mean to her-and for no good reason that she (LL) can think of. It’ll all just be so unfair and so terribly unkind.

  11. jover says:

Our young overrated pop tarts need to take lessons from Stevie. Class and talent; I remember Mike Myers on one of his old SNL Wayne and Garth skits saying that everyone was issued Rumours (sic) as a rite of 70s passage. That album still holds up today; can’t say the same for beyonce’s, swiftys, katys, etc. stuff.

  12. NayNay says:

    @lucy2:

I agree. Why would she, when she is never really held accountable for her behavior. So, honestly, why would she change. We need more people who have some balls (pardon the express), and tell this self-entitled little girl NO!!!!!!

  13. Miss Marie says:

Steve Nicks looks like a soccer mom – why don’t these folks from yesteryear hang it up before they look desperate. Probably no money left, so they have to tour. How humiliating!

  14. tmbg says:

Lindsay needs to spend some one-on-one time with Stevie (if Stevie would have her). She would probably improve by leaps and bounds if she had someone supporting her, but giving it to her straight at the same time.

ETA: What? Stevie looks like a soccer mom? Damn, if that’s what a soccer mom looks like at 62 or whatever, I’ll gladly take it. Stevie tours for the enjoyment of it, and she has plenty of fans who want her to, myself included.

  15. brin says:

Yay Stevie! At the rate Lindsay is going , she won’t be able to play anyone younger than 80.

  16. Hakura says:

At least someone is putting their foot down. (& who better?) Stevie is the example of what Lindsay could be if she’d pull her head out of her own ass.

  17. harfang says:

Stevie’s the only famous person I’ve known of who had to recover from full-blown addiction to Klonopin (clonazepam), which is the anti-anxiety medication I take. In small doses it is quite safe, and less addictive than Xanax; but if you have the physical addiction tendency, or take too much, it is unsafe on multiple levels. It was part of the OD cocktail that killed Heath Ledger.

Going through 2 bouts of rehab and then having the tenacity to move forward sober gives this revered artist every right to tell LiLo where to stick it. Like Stevie, I agree that Lindsay has genuine talent that she is squandering. I hope Lindsay reads and understands that part of what Stevie is saying. If the admiration is so great, maybe Lindsay will thus learn something from Stevie’s words.

Also doesn’t Stevie look gorgeous, with her beautiful body and her beautiful real face and her totally badass expressions when she’s on stage?

  18. Marie says:

Why does it look like Lohan’s stomach is bloated in the profile view of her? What’s going on there? As for Stevie love her!!

  19. Shelley says:

On what basis/which movies does anyone think she has any talent? I just don’t get it. She did OK in ‘Mean Girls,’ but it was a good role in a reasonably well-written movie – many actresses would have done as well or much better. She was horrendous in the equally awful ‘Georgia Rules.’. She is really much ado about nothing.

  20. ladybert62 says:

I am glad Stevie took Lindsay to take a hike! Stevie has worked hard to get where she is today in sharp contrast to lazy-ass Lohan!

  21. MJ says:

I’ve come to the conclusion that Miss Marie is just a troll. Stevie Nicks looks amazing for her age and she still rocks it.

  22. Nancy says:

Stevie Nicks looks so pretty in that interview and lol to Lohan playing her.

  23. MarenGermany says:

@shelley agree! always thought the same about Lindsays acting-skills.

playing a cute, sweet highschool-girl at the age of 16 is not that much of a challenge, is it? she came across pretty natural, no doubt about that, but come on.
cocaine fucks up your brain, no way in hell, after all these years of addiction, could she just expect to be sober for a couple of month and go back to starring in a movie role.

  24. neelyo says:

Uh-oh. Stevie better watch it, because Dina’s going to come gunning for her now that Stevie’s attacked her poor, innocent baby.

  25. Amanda G says:

Love Stevie! One of the best female voices in the biz!

  26. dread pirate cuervo says:

    1) Rhiannon will be stuck in my head all damn day now.
    2) Stevie Nicks is a rock star, Lilo. You are famous for being a crackhead & dating Fez. Not the same thing.
    3) I like that Stevie laid it out in no uncertain terms: your drug use is fucking this up for you.

  27. TQB says:

As if I could find a way to worship Stevie Nicks a little more… God, she is awesome.

@neelyo, I’m sure you’re right, she’s signed herself up to be the New Target for Dina. She knew probably knew that and said it anyway. She’s had a huge career and major struggles and she’s still willing to stand up and say what no one else seems to be willing to say about stupid Blohan.

@Ell – I know like 3 cats named after Stevie Nicks! Why does it work so well?

  28. the original bellaluna says:

@ dread pirate – WORD! (My cousin & his “whatever” named their daughter Rhiannon.)

My initial thought on reading this: Well, THANK GOD!

  29. Lady D says:

MJ I believe you are right about the troll. How is this situation humiliating? She loves to sing, we love to listen, and greatly appreciate the fact that she still reaches out to her fans. Trolls, what a waste of space and time.

  30. Alarmjaguar says:

Woot, Stevie! Going to be seeing her in 7 days. Can’t wait!

  31. Angelina says:

She has also let slip that Kimberly Stewart is expecting a girl

Think Rod Stewart might be having a few words with her soon

  32. junipergreen says:

What was Stevie talking about Lindsay spending three months in the morgue? Morgue??

  33. Dani says:

Someone speaking common sense is so refreshing. Amazing how such a simple thing as telling the truth in an insightful and not mean way is so powerful. Too bad Lindsay hasn’t had this with her family and the court system who continue to enable her destructive lifestyle. Love Stevie Nicks. Thanks for being real.

  34. StevieFan says:

The morgue comment was in reference to the community service that Lohan will be serving by working in a morgue as the result of the court case.

  35. skeptical says:

can’t believe i just now noticed that’s shawn holley behind lilo in the doorway. i suppose shawn came along to make sure her precious fragile client didn’t have to do any REAL work in the shelter.

  36. Matt says:

“She needs to stop doing drugs and get a grip. Then maybe we’ll talk.”

Lindsay needs to have this tatooed on her forehead.

  37. Matty says:

I don’t blame a talent like Miss Nicks for not wanting a screwed up has been to play her.

  38. Bored says:

I don’t think she’s that great of an actress. I watched machete and she was terrible. Tbh, the whole movie was terrible.

  39. sammib says:

Ummm. Miss Marie. WHAAAAAT?? Stevie Nicks does not look like a soccer mom nor do I think she “needs the money”. She’s STEVIE NICKS woman. Like she said herself once, she’s not just famous, she’s like SUPER famous. Respect, ok?

  40. Ur Favorite Bartender says:

Stevie, I just love you even more now

  41. harfang says:

…Fair enough, Mean Girls and Parent Trap are a long time ago. I guess I don’t believe Lindsay is super-talented; it’s more that she has some talent and looks like an It Girl, I mean she is beyond stunning. Even with her crackface she’s unbelievable. A lot of it is how she carries herself. So it’s not so much that she deserves to do well; it’s more like, stop wasting yourself, you can have a career and I’d like to see you naked sometimes, please.

I also admit that I am biased by being grateful to her for having a public relationship with a woman while she (Lindsay) was still marginally respectable.

  42. Whatever says:

I have a life long love of Stevie! NFW can Lindsay play her, even clean. She is a no talent little strung out has been Disney chick. There is little to no talent there, sorry. I’d be pissed to see her play Stevie, even if she gets sober. No!

Also, Stevie looks damned amazing for almost 63 years old! I’d love to look that good at her age. She still rocks!
