These are some photos from a dinner for Karl Lagerfeld, held in Paris last night. Several of Lagerfeld’s girls came out to support him. Of course, there was Blake Lively, the newest (budget, cheap, mall girl) face of Chanel Mademoiselle handbags, as you may remember. Karl Lagerfeld has made Blake his special project – ever since signing her to the Chanel ad campaign, Blake has done several events with Lagerfeld, and has worn several Chanel dresses to prominent events (like the Met Gala). Even though the consensus around the majority of fashion people seems to be that Blake is a budget mall girl, Lagerfeld (and Anna Wintour) keep pushing Blake in our faces. As for Blake’s Chanel dress – well, when I first saw it, I thought she was just wearing a pom-pom, and that seemed right to me. Blake Lively: Making Couture Look Like Pom-Pom Dresses Since 2007.
Vanessa Paradis was also at the dinner, looking prettier than I’ve seen her in a while – she doesn’t look so sickly here, right? She looks healthy, like she’s eaten a few meals and gotten some sun.
And then there’s Rachel Bilson, trying desperately to be a Fashion Girl, trying desperately to have any kind of relevancy. Karl selected Rachel to star in the commercials he directed for Magnum ice cream. So, Karl gave Rachel a job. So she’s indebted to him. I wonder if made her wear that hat just to amuse himself.

Blake’s nose freaks me out.
I like Blake’s dress. It’s cutesie, and I can see how that might come off as cheap, but I don’t think so.
Why IS Rachel Bilson? What is her claim to fashion fame anyway? And while my opinion of Boobs Lively has never been good, I really think she’s looked fugly lately- just not pretty at all.

Oh, a Blake post. Looks like it’s time for my obligatory “Blake Lively’s got an unfortunate face” post. And boy she does. The mouth area, the whole package. What a butterface. That dress would be cute when worn by, say, ME, but as Kaiser put it…
Ahh… Is there something between Vanessa’s teeth? I like the gap..but it looks like there’s something there. Blake’s dress does look like a pom pom. Like something someone would wear when they never grew out of the cheerleader attitude?
Blake’s dress is interresting but when my eyes look her face, just one thing on my mind : cut it! More make-up or sleep or both !

Fashion fail. Blake’s dress looks like a whole load of torn-up and balled-up toilet tissue stuck together with soap, like you’d see on the ceiling of any public toilet in England. That, or the bird spittle nests they make soup out of in China. And normally you’d have to admit she does look rather fabulous, whether you like her or not!
Vanessa looks fantastic! Bilson is a why is but she looks better than Blake, who just looks cheap IMO. Her hair looks awful so maybe it’s just a matter of styling idk..
Blake is beautiful
Too much matte contour on Blake’s nose in an attempt to make it look smaller had the opposite effect, at least in photos. Poor girl. She really is perfectly nice looking, just shouldn’t be foisted upon us as if she were some goddess. I fear for her self confidence.
blake needs to wash her hair. vanessa looks good. i actually like rachels outfit (except for the heinous hat) but her clothes are more important than her so…yeah
Blake really looks like a dude in this pics. And what is up with her hair? It looks dirty and greasy. The dress is unfortunate, too. Looks like shredded trash bags glued together.
I think blake cheapens the brand.

I am not a huge B.L. fan, but at least she’s nice, smiling and has a healthy body type (something the vast majority of models don’t have)

Not the biggest BL fan but I will never understand the level of hate this girl gets when she seems like the most inoffensive creature (to the point where she’s actually boring). Do we just hate her because she’s tall and blonde and hot instead of classically pretty with the figure of a boy? Is that why she’s “budget”?
As for the pictures, the dress is very pom-pom and she should brush her hair but she looks healthy and happy so good for her. She really is much prettier in motion than in photos though.
For some reason I like Blake but not in these pictures. Her dress reminds me of my last craft project which involved a glue gun, a bag of cotton balls, and a high speed fan….but that’s a bit off thread.

Why won’t this girl do something with her hair?? It drives me nuts to see her all dressed up with her hair loose and pulled over her shoulder. STYLE IT for pete’s sake.

Blake looks cheap in that dress. She cannot pull off that style. She lacks elegance and a kind of tenderness.

Blake has a nice, sweet smile. Nice, healty body, but she does not use her assets wisely to make her look more attractive. The hair has always been her biggest problem, she shouldn’t smile so big, her fashion sense is just not there. She has potential, but she needs someone to put it altogether for her.
Blake, can I help you compliment your assets, so that you can become a show stopper.
ITA – BL seems to lack the elegance required for a Chanel look. She is pretty but it looks like she is being dressed in what someone else thinks she should wear so she can be who someone else thinks she should be.
I don’t hate Serena Van Der Woodsen, but she is SUCH A MALL GIRL, I have to shout it.
I hate Blake’s dress, but her smile is gorgeous, simply gorgeous.

Its funny but I find her character more appealing than her in RL. Her style is fug and there is something off with her face.
At least she looks happy to be there, not moody or smug like certain other starlets. But her hair, dear God why would you wear a couture dress and then leave your hair limp, greasy, and frizzy like that? Terrible!! Her hair makes her look more budget than anything else, well that and the fake tan…

for the love of god, will someone PLEASE teach blake how to properly pose? i think her styling and bad posing are what give off the mall girl look. if she fixes both, she’ll be much better.
after learning her sister was teen witch (one of my favorite cheesy 80’s movies) and that she’s good friends with florence welch (lead singer of one of my favorite bands), i’m starting to like blake. but she needs to work on some things.

Unkle Karl, your retirement villa is waiting.
