Victoria Beckham schedules her C-section in America, for the 4th of July

fp_7234754_barm_westminsterabbey_rw_34_44

Good news, America! Posh Beckham is going to gift us with a very special Independence Day surprise. A BABY! Apparently, Posh is due in early July, and there are reports that she’s scheduled a C-section IN AMERICA for the 4th of July. Five bucks says that the name the little girl something like “Founding Father” or “Independence” or “Jefferson”. Actually, there was a rumor going around that Posh and Becks would name the baby girl “Atlanta” – which is completely random. Posh’s rep denied that, though. So Lala is still in the running, probably with Angel, Malibu, San Fernando (why not?), Santa (of course), Los Feliz (sure), Independence, Firework, Jefferson, and Philadelphia (duh!).

They might be one of Britain’s most famous couples but the Beckhams are honouring the U.S. by choosing to have their fourth child Stateside. And Victoria Beckham is said to have booked the date of her Caesarean section for the 4th July – U.S. Independence Day, according to reports.

The decision was made to acknowledge Victoria and David’s four years in America but the couple have rubbished reports that they’re naming their daughter Atlanta.

A spokesperson for Mrs Beckham told MailOnline: ‘It is no secret that Victoria will be having her baby in the U.S. – we will not be confirming the date although early July is correct. David and Victoria have a shortlist of names and once they have met their daughter then they will decide – Atlanta is not on that shortlist!’

Mrs Beckham is said to have preliminarily booked her C-section at a London hospital, but instead opted for Los Angeles as the place of birth. The Sun has reported that the 37-year-old will have her baby in LA and has hired a house near their home for relatives to stay in.

A source said: ‘Vic and David love America, its culture and her people, who have welcomed them with open arms. The most important thing is the health of mother and baby and things can always change last minute. But if it’s possible for the baby to be born on Independence Day, Vic and David will be thrilled.’

[From The Mail]

You know Posh is truly aiming for the 4th of July. And I can’t blame her, honestly. I’m saying this as a daughter of an immigrant: immigrants friggin’ love American holidays. Truly. My dad always loved the 4th of July in particular. The history of it, celebrating your adopted country’s freedom from tyranny, the fireworks, the grilling of meat. I would imagine it’s the same for Posh, kind of. But mostly she thinks that if she gives birth on the 4th of July and names her little girl “These Truths To Be Self-evident,” Anna Wintour might give her a cover.

In additional to the baby, Posh and Becks also added a new puppy to their family. A French bulldog puppy named Scarlet joins their English bulldog Coco. Posh has been tweeting photos for days. Scarlet is such a cutie!

Well whatever name they pick out, it’s sure to be unusual! I remember when she had her first kid and learned that she had named it Brooklyn!

  2. brin says:

How about Liberty? Anything but Kalamazoo! The puppy is adorable!!!

  3. Mia says:

    Aww…Scarlet is adorable.

I thought she wasn’t due until August. Why would Atlanta be in consideration? Did she get knocked up here?

  4. Lucy says:

    #2: good guess!!!

My guesses are not realted to 4th of July. But here they are: Santa Monica? Laguna? Hollywood?

  5. Lucy says:

    #2: good guess!!!

My guesses are not related to 4th of July. But here they are: Santa Monica? Laguna? Hollywood?

  6. brin says:

@Amy…yeah wasn’t that because they did the deed there? Uh oh….hope this kid won’t be named Golden Gate!

  7. MeMyself says:

I heard long ago that Victoria really liked the name “Luna.”

And is it possible to actually have four c-sections? I actually didn’t know a woman could have so many. And what’s wrong with a natural birth?

  8. anti says:

she is totally the blind item from earlier in the month…

  9. S says:

I quite like the name Jefferson for a girl, actually! That’s my new top pick.

  10. constance says:

@Memyself: Nothing is wrong with natural. Its just not convenient to celebutards’ busy work schedules. Money trains can’t stop just because you want to portray yourself as a wholesome everyday family.

Ugh. Can the US settle that immigration law which says not all children of “visitors” can have their kids qualify for full citizenship? Just in case they want to be HK “trendy” and make one of their kids a native Yank to entitle them to things their parents can already pay for. LOL

  11. gee says:

    Love this boss bitch.

  12. Erika says:

Scheduled C-sections creep me out. Unnecessary C-sections creep my out. I know natural birth has its downsides, but how can it not be preferable to having a doctor SLICE OPEN YOUR STOMACH?

    Gaahhhh.

  13. Samigirl says:

I don’t see how a C-Section is more convenient? I had my son naturally, with complications, at 2:28 pm. I was walking at 6:30 that night, after the epidural had worn off. My sister had a C-Section, and couldn’t even hold her daughter until the next day, let alone walk.

  14. Hautie says:

Well with the c-section Victoria can have her mandatory tummy tuck done at the same time.

Less time down if it is done right after delivery. Versus waiting till later. I know many girls who had them done.

And I am still surprise Victoria didn’t poke out anyone eye with that hat.

  15. Scarlet Vixen says:

I’m a huge fan of natural birth, and think that the c-section rate in the US is super inflated. But, most ob-gyns don’t do VBACs anymore, so if she had to (and I use the term ‘had to’ loosely) have a c-section with her first, that’s probably why she’s had all c-sections. They do get more dangerous the more you have, tho.

It could, of course, be a vanity issue. But I’m trying not to judge. LoL

  16. Kloops says:

I don’t think she’s that subtle. I think she’ll get straight to the point and call her America.

  17. jc126 says:

Yes, it will be something obvious like America or Freedom. Something corny.
BTW she just seems so irretrievably shallow doing stuff like this.
It’s funny they have bulldogs, bulldogs have to be delivered C section.

  18. Mika says:

HA! Those bulldog are hilarious! I can just see little Romeo dressing up in designer jacket and casual ascot to take Scarlett and Coco to the park. They are the FUNNIEST family.

  19. Embee says:

I’m guessing the “Atlanta” speculation has more to do with her tweeting photos of Scarlet (Gone With the Wind) than any real consideration of the name. That, and it’s akin to son Brooklyn.

  20. Elizabeth says:

Her face looks so frozen in those royal wedding photos. Too much botox?

  21. Lisa Turtle says:

If it’s July 4th I think they will name her Liberty and call her “Libby” which is actually quite a cute name in my opinion.

  22. bluhare says:

OMG, Beckham looks like Ricky Gervais in your header shot. I’m going to have to poke my eyes out with toothpicks.

And that little poopy is too cute. The older dog does not look amused. S/he is only sitting there to get that treat away from that interloper!

  23. dread pirate cuervo says:

O..M..G!!! Puppy!!! I love the Frenchie! Too cute. I say they name the baby Angela after Los Angeles.

  24. L says:

Yea, having a VBAC is pretty rare in Britian/US-so if she “had” to have one for her first (and like ScarletVixen I use that term lightly), then most OB-GYN’s won’t let her do anything but. Hell, even the Duggar woman hasn’t done a VBAC in in a while.

And the scheduling thing is also pretty common for c section 2/3/4 etc. If I remember right, it puts less stress on the baby

  25. dada says:

i call liberty belle if this is true.

  26. the original bellaluna says:

@ Kloops – Took the words right out of my mouth. America is my guess, too.

I LOVE the picture of the two dogs together – ADORABLE!

  27. GradStudentEatingHotPockets says:

Betsy. Or any form of a name that was signed on the declaration of independence.

  28. Kerri says:

Although i am not a doctor, generally speaking once a woman has a c-section, i don’t believe they can go back to a natural birth after. Also by the third c-section, it is usually consiered to be an extremely high risk and the possibility of severe complications can arise. If this is in fact her fourth c-section, which most doctors advise against (three being the most they usually allow) i hope she has a safe delivery and both she and the baby are healthy.

  29. Jeannified says:

I LOVE her fascinator! (I am from Atlanta, so I like that name too, if she chooses it.)

  30. Justaposter says:

Scarlet Vixen, do you have children?

I am just curious. And hopefully you safe deliveries =)

Look gang, a vback is desired, however not always able to be done. And the risk of trying to do a vback after 2 births (c-sections) can become tricky, with scar tissue.

I had 3 c-sections, the first one was this close to becoming an emergency c-section, (I could never progress and things were getting really tricky really quickly) and with my 2nd one, my doctor wanted me to try for a vback, however my secon child was quiet large.

With my 3rd, there was no option for a vback, due to safty for me.

At the end of the day, who cares how a baby is born as long as both Mother and Baby are safe and healthy.

No one gets brownie points over the delivery, the end game is always healthy baby.

The one cool thing about a scheduled c-section is you can pick the date in the window they give you. Or most likely, you get to pick on days your OB does c-sections.

  31. ghoulish_moose says:

Sorry to burst everyone’s bubble but Victoria’s younger sister Louise already has a little girl named Liberty.

That would have been a lovely name though, very appropriate for Independence Day =)

Also, how cute are them doggies, eeeek! =D

  32. Kim says:

David Beckham (my fav man) AND a French Bulldog (my fav dog) in the same house! I think ive died and gone to heaven. Posh u lucky bitch! Congrats to them both – i hope they have a 4th of July baby!

  33. Kim says:

At Posh’s age any decent doctor would recommend a c-section ESPECIALLY if her previous births were c section. C sections do NOT get more dangerous the more you have – just the opposite.

I had a “natural” birth and my best friend always hated that she had c sections and said it wasnt natural and I said does it really matter what way the baby gets here as long as he/she is healthy? No. The important thing is what is best for baby & mom period.

  34. gg says:

Hey, my birthday is the Fourth of July and it’s an EXCELLENT day to be born! I was born in NYC which is more interesting than LA.

Since Vicky is incapable of normal names for her children, I vote she should call her “July” at least. I like Angela too.

  35. girl says:

Surprisingly I was offered a VBAC for my most recent baby (2 previus c/s, 3 regular births). It didn’t happen because of an emergency situation and baby was premature.

I think one of the Kennedy women who had something like 8 or 10 children (I’m not exactly sure of the number but many children) and all of them were c/s. I think it is pretty individual. Some women’s uteri (? what is plural for uterus) can tolerate that much surgery. Some cannot. It also depends on the type of incision on the uterus itself. I was a candidate for a VBAC before my most recent birth because I had a low transverse incision. My incision with this most recent birth is more like an inverted capital T (on the uterus itself, not externally) and I was told if I have more, they will want to start doing amnios to check for lung maturity starting at 36 weeks then get baby out as soon as he is mature enough.

  36. gamblea says:

plus with a c-section she won’t have to go full term and spread her hips or get stretch marks. Wasn’t that a nasty rumor about all of her births?

  37. painterspirit says:

I don’t see why she would have her kid here? But apparently Cruz was born in Madrid, so I guess anything goes. And she’s going to name is America Liberty 4th of July Freedom Beckham.

  38. loveyourwork says:

why not Kennedy? to be fully iconic in a traditional sort of way…

  39. Alix says:

A friend of mine has had FIVE c-sections — damn kids just won’t come out on their own. I keep telling her to get a Velcro strip installed.

I abhor “vanity” c-sections based on the parents’ convenience or whatnot. Generally (with some exceptions, like my friend) babies are born when they’re ready to be born, and you should fuck with that if it’s not medically necessary.

  40. Vee says:

Does she EVER smile? Why no, because then she would get wrinkles. This woman’s vanity is the WORST. I cannot stand her and pity her kids.

  41. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Not to start a firestorm, but was anyone else wondering if Posh had Becks sperm “sorted” to be sure an X would hit the mark? She supposedly has PCOS (as do I) and may possibly needed IUI in order to conceive. During the sperm washing the sperm can be centrifuged in order to separate the x’s from the y’s. I know she desperately wanted an girl, and may have wanted to improve her odds? After two boys, the hubby and I discussed this but quickly ruled it out.

    @alix, I also know someone who had 5 c-sections

  42. Camille says:

Not a fan of this couple at all, but best of luck with the birth.
I vote for something like America as the kids name too.

  43. Scarlet Vixen says:

@Justaposter: I personally have 2 children that were both natural births. (I’m not bragging–just wasn’t sure if that’s what you were asking. :-)) I’m also 1 of 6 kids, have 16 nieces & nephews, a mom who studied to be a midwife, a sister who was an OB nurse and childbirth instructor for over 10yrs, & a bf who’s an OB tech assisting in c-sections. The business of babies kinda runs in my family. LoL

I’ve read alot of material that says VBACs are completely safe, but also know that the increasing trend is no more VBACs. Many ob-gyns feel like if a mother required a previous c-section for a medical reason, they don’t want to run the risk of having to deal with the possibility of it happening again, so they just cut to the chase and do the c-section. Some women are candidates for VBACs, but they’re not as common as they were 20yrs ago.

“At the end of the day, who cares how a baby is born as long as both Mother and Baby are safe and healthy.”

There are many more risk factors involved in a c-section (expecially elective) vs vaginal delivery, so I do care how a baby comes. Because the goal should always be a healthy baby and mother, not convenience. Yes, sometimes c-sections are necessary. But not nearly as often as they’re performed. I’m not by any means judging mothers who have had a c-section. I had provisions for a c-section in my birth plan for both babies. Sadly tho, many women aren’t informed by their ob-gyn of the risks involved, or that they have often have options.

  44. feebee says:

Can we go easy on the “natural” vs c-sections. Just because you’re able to deliver vaginally doesn’t mean it was all natural but good on you.

As a 3x c-sectioner, first one out of my hands, 2nd elected and 3rd for my medical reason, I’d like to stand up for them. And I could… later that night. Granted later than perhaps a regular delivery but everyone’s different.

I’m just surprised a doctor would schedule a c-section on July 4… most doctors schedule them on certain days and/because of being more than one hospital but still only regular weekdays. Ah… but this is isn’t Hollywood.

  45. jenni says:

Posh was the only sour thing about the Royal Wedding. ;/ But I take my hat off to her for having 4 c-secs. I think it’s very brave of her.In the US women have to really fight just to be “let” try after only one c-sec.

  46. Dana M says:

    My guess : America , Libertad, Glory/Gloria or Julia/July.

  47. jemshoes says:

Having had to have an emergency C last year I can’t imagine why any woman who had a choice would voluntarily choose to have this instead of a natural birth. It really is major abdominal surgery, and it hurts like hell post-surgery … and the recovery period is longer, more painful and more scarring. Obviously for some women, medical and/or health issues will make a C-section their only option. Don’t be afraid of vaginal delivery, girls. A C is WORSE! 😉

  48. islandwalker says:

I think a cute girls name would be “Citizen.”

  49. Hakura says:

Personally, I’ve never wanted children of my own. So I obviously have no experience in the arena of childbirth. I could easily see how Victoria *might* opt for a C-section each time, if it meant they could immediately do a ‘tummy tuck’ after the birth. She really does strike me as a person who’s be shallow enough to place value on that.

Someone above mentioned that once you’ve *have* a C-section, you can’t really go back to vaginal? It all looks horrifying from my perspective. xD Hopefully no matter what method, the birth goes smoothly, & the little girl is delivered without any problems =3

  50. tapioca says:

The 4th of July is their wedding anniversary – zOMG they’re so copying Mariah & Nick!!

And she does already have a niece called Liberty.

  51. Andie B says:

Are we just assuming all Victoria’s C-sections were elective? None of us know whether there are medical reasons why she requires C-section births. My only child was born by emergency C-section, and if it hadn’t happened that way neither of us would be here. I did not feel a failure afterwards. I only cared that my baby had arrived and was healthy. Lucky old Posh has people to do everything for her and the kids while she recovers, so that’s good.

  52. anne_000 says:

that royal wedding pic, with david smiling & showing his fangs…. doesnt he look like ricky gervais?

  53. wifeyskarsgard says:

I love this bitch, and the puppy is adorable.

  54. Belle Epoch says:

Personally, I had a c-section the first time (baby stuck), then tried for a VBAC the second time but ended up with another c-section (baby stuck again). I’m just happy to be alive and have my kids. 150 years ago I’d be dead.

“According to one estimate not a single woman survived cesarean section in Paris between 1787 and 1876.”

I do think people should go into labor instead of scheduling their surgery. The body knows when the baby is supposed to be born. Picking a holiday for your baby’s birthday is grotesque.

  55. Geewhiz says:

The phrase “too posh to push” started with her, you know.

  56. Tar says:

Becks looks like Ricky Gervais in these pics

  57. eternalcanadian says:

Strange. Five British in the family. Why schedule for a birth in the USA? Just curious. Maybe they wanted the baby to arrive before William and Catherine visited July 8? That would be crazy, especially if the baby is not full term?

  58. REALIST says:

    Frenchies are soooo cute!
