Sarah Palin’s son Track got married (her oldest, not Tripp, not Trig)

sarahheader
Sarah Palin’s 22 year-old son, Track, just married his high school sweetheart in a small private ceremony. They’re going to have a big ski trip weekend blowout for friends and family to follow this Winter. I would normally float some conspiracy theories about how they needed to have a shotgun wedding, but if they’re having a ski weekend in about seven months that doesn’t make sense. At that point the bride would presumably be ready to pop or would have just had a baby. Still, she’s wearing a really loose top in the photos on People.

Sarah Palin’s eldest son, Track, 22, recently married his high school sweetheart, Britta Hanson, 21, in a small ceremony in Hatcher Pass, Alaska.

“Our families couldn’t be happier!” the Hansons and Palins tell PEOPLE in a joint statement. “These are two hard working, humble, active, studious young adults who grew up together. We’re tickled that after two decades of friendship we proudly witnessed their marriage, knowing their new life together will be blessed.”

The couple will have a larger wedding celebration this winter at Alaska’s Alyeska Ski Resort “when extended family and friends from the Lower 48 can travel north for a long ski weekend,” says the statement from Sarah and Todd Palin and the Rev. Duane and Elizabeth Hanson.

Britta and Track have been dating since high school. When Track was stationed overseas in 2008, Sarah Palin used to joke that she hadn’t heard from her son since his deployment, though his girlfriend had.

Track is now an Army Reservist who spent a year deployed in Iraq with a Ft. Wainwright Stryker Brigade. He plans to study at the University of Alaska after the commercial fishing season. Britta is a nursing student at the University of Alaska.

“The Hanson and Palin families are ecstatic and proud that Britta and Track married in one of our favorite spots in America, spectacular Hatcher Pass, Alaska,” says the statement. “It’s a site we’ve all shared fun memories of skiing, snowboarding, hiking and snowmachining.”

[From People]

Now that I’m reading about Track’s service record, I’m reminded that he’s the one who is rumored to have had a problem with drugs, particularly Oxycontin, before he went off to Iraq. Hopefully he’s cleaned up his life and is ready to settle down. Not a lot of 22 year-olds are.

They love alliterative names in the Palin family and Sarah’s youngest, three, is named Trig while her grandson from daughter Bristol is Tripp, two and a half. When this couple has a baby, probably about six to seven months from now, what are they going to call it, Truth? That’s a generic name that could apply to a boy or girl. Plus Sarah Palin thinks she corners the market on it.

I don’t see how it would matter if it was a shotgun wedding, unless he’s been preaching about abstinence like his sister and mother.

  2. werty says:

when will their reality show be announced?

  3. Ruby says:

What about her other kids Tick, Tack and Toe? Nobody ever mentions them.

  4. Jackson says:

WTF is with those names? LOL @ Ruby!

I’ll put a dollar on her being pregnant. And two dollars on ‘I don’t care either way.’

  5. Quest says:

I call “shot gun” wedding, as for baby names.

Hmmm maybe they will call the baby something like – “Tramp, Trance, Trail, Truce” since her son’s are Track and Trig and grandson is Tripp

  6. Praise St. Angie! says:

one named after a water filtration system and one named after a runner’s arena.

best of luck to them, but they’re awfully young to make a move like that…unless, as you said, she’s knocked up.

whoa…I just looked at the People pics…did he really get married in jeans and a fleece? to each his own, I guess, but the rushed feeling of this wedding makes me think you’re right about her being preggo.

  7. Kristen says:

That screengrab of SP up top is pretty much the funniest thing ever.

  9. fabgrrl says:

Eh. This boy seems alright. Dabbling with drugs in high school and then getting your sh*t together in the Army is what my cousin did, and he’s turned out just fine. Awfully young to get married, but I’ve known plenty of high-school sweetheart couples that have done the same, and it works for them.

  10. jc126 says:

Pregnant. Count on it. Not that it matters, of course.
    Kid’s name: Tripe.

  11. Jules says:

How can someone’s total obnoxiousness come through a photo as well as Palin’s does?

  12. OXA says:

If its a girl in keeping with the T’s they can call her Trollop.

  13. Mizz Tickles says:

The title of the post gave me a chuckle. It could be that the lady is 4 months along so the baby will be out by the time they have their big hoe down. And Track is a nice looking dude.

  14. MikeyAngel says:

They are a nice looking couple. The chick looks a little goopy, no?

  15. ladybert62 says:

Loved everyone’s suggestions for names! Very funny!!!

  16. Harper says:

Track and Britta? Seriously? What the hell is wrong with people up there!?

  17. TaylorB says:

Considering that this does look a bit like a shotgun wedding maybe they will name him Trapped.

  18. Iggles says:

Track and Britta? Seriously? And the same people have the nerve to judge names “LaShawn” and “Sharmelle”! It’s all same, really.

  19. serena says:

    Trapp, Track, trick, trig. LOL

  20. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Are you sure those are their names that you’re reading and not instructions for tonight’s barn raising, English?

  21. Sasha says:

Leave the Palins alone, a wedding is a happy occasion and you guys should let it stay that way. 22 and 21 may seem young but with the army youre kinda forced to get married young so your significant other can be stationed with you. as for it being a “shot gun” wedding: let the damn thing alone, their motives for a marriage is none of your concerns

  22. jc126 says:

I think their kids names are really, seriously stupid – it’s like if you played baseball, so you name your kid “Baseball”. Not even something to do with the city where you played, or the name of a famous player, or of the team or something specific. Just “track” because Sarah ran track, apparently. And Bristol and Willow for Alaska geographic spots; Piper for Todd’s Piper Cub airplane. Trig for – ?. He’s got a weird middle name, like Van Halen or something. Really, really dumb names.
I don’t know where they got Tripp, either.

  23. Kristin says:

    @Sasha:

Then why are you reading a gossip site? @_o

  24. TaylorB says:

    Sasha,

If the Palins want their privacy so badly then they should stay out of the public eye. No talk shows, reality shows, Dancing with the Has Beens, etc. Sadly, they intentionally put themselves out there and suddenly get peeved when they don’t come across as perfect angels. I have no problem with them doing the shows etc. but they need to grow up and understand that along with the good ($$$$) comes the bad, you can not make a living off of being famous and inserting yourself into the narriative and not expect to get burned from time to time.

  25. Nina says:

What’s wrong with the name Britta? It’s a fairly common Scandinavian name (my grandmother was Britta and my aunt is Ann-Britt).

  26. Lisa Turtle says:

I have NO love for Sarah Palin.

Still, I think this is a nice story. A veteran marries his high school sweetheart. They’re very very very young to be getting married. But other than this statement, they’ve been private and I think they should stay that way. Good luck to the newlyweds. May they be “truthier” than mama bear.

  27. De says:

What is wrong with everyone???? I think what each person names their baby is totally up to them!! Some people might NOT like Sally, Henry, John etc.!! If they want a casual wedding that is up to them!! And all of you that are throwing stones: Did you stay totally pure up to your wedding date?? I married at 19 and am still happily married 24 years later!!!

  28. the original bellaluna says:

    Shotgun!

@ De – But folks like you (who marry @ 19, married for 24 years, and still happy – God Bless!) are few & far between. Divorce stories for young newlyweds are far more common. Unfortunately.

  29. Louise says:

I forgot that these kids have some of the dumbest names. And people act like only Hollywood celebrities give their kids ridiculous names.

  30. Trillion says:

Her styling is just….I don’t know. All I can think of is that maybe it’s time for her to lipsync for her life and then sashay away….
Best of luck to the young couple. I don’t think that’s too young to marry. I think it’s pretty normal in rural areas.

  31. V. says:

Wouldn’t be surprised if they call the baby Trigger if it’s a shotgun wedding.

  32. Belle Epoch says:

    What #10 said!

My guess is a) the girl is pregnant and b) Palin did not want another unwed mother in the family at the moment. It was all over the news when Willow had a “pregnancy scare” because people are just WAITING for the next abstinence baby.

Don’t forget Palin was pregnant when she got married (and Track’s father allegedly is NOT Todd Palin).

Lots of Palin books coming out now. Maybe they will have some information we haven’t heard before.

  33. LunaT says:

She’s totally pg. If it’s her first kid, it wouldn’t be unusual for her to not show until into her 4th or 5th month of pg. Unless they were saving themselves for marriage and couldn’t wait anymore but still had dreams of a ski chalet themed reception, she’s pg.

@Sasha—I’m guessing you’ll be popping up on all the other posts on Celebitchy to tell people to be nice and not talk about celebrities. Since you’re all for standing up for the Palins, you’ll be doing it for everyone else, too, right?

@Belle Epoch— I did not know Sarah was pg when she and Todd got married. Too funny. I still love the story of Sarah not really being the bio-mom of her son w/Down’s Syndrome. Anyone else hear about that one?

  34. eternalcanadian says:

Definitely pregnant. For one thing, this was a wedding done fast. Look at their clothes!

  35. jhp2 says:

If Track had a drug problem in the army, the regular urinalysis would have detected it. Same if he was using when he went to MEPs. Silly rumor designed to make his mother look bad.

  36. saintdevil says:

In Germany, Donald Duck’s nephews are called Tick, Trick and Track.

    Just sayin’.

  37. LunaT says:

@jhp2—not sure how often tests are given in the military, but some drugs don’t take long to clear out of your system. Unless he was tested almost daily, he’d be able to skate by the tests and still use.

  38. the original bellaluna says:

@ LunaT – From what I recall, there was some flack about how the youngest Sarah-baby was actually one of her daughter’s baby that she was raising as her own to be “consistent” in her abstinence campaign.

@ Belle Epoch – LOVE the term “abstinence baby”!

  39. Able Baker says:

Liberal pukes making false allegaions about drug abuse! This guy is true blue American patriot!
