Octomom: “My last nanny just quit,” “No idea how to get out of this situation”

octomomfooter2
Yesterday we heard advance details from Octomom Nadya Suleman’s In Touch interview. She supposedly said she hated her babies and was disgusted by them, that she often spent hours locked in her bathroom, and that she contemplated suicide. We were relying on The Daily Mail’s account of the interview, which included the quote “I hate the babies, they disgust me.” However, in the print edition which I just got ahold of, she did not say “the babies,” she simply said “I hate babies, they disgust me.” That’s quite different in that she seems to be referring to babies in general, not her octuplet babies, who turned two on January 26. The Daily Mail also suggested that Suleman is on public assistance again, and she very well may be but there is no mention of that in the article. Here are all the quotes from her In Touch article. I’ve cut out some of the filler, but her quotes are all here.

“I am utterly overwhelmed,” the mom of 14 admits to In Touch, in a painfully candid interview at her La Habra, CA home. “The only way I can cope is to lock myself in the bathroom and cry. Sometimes I sit in there for hours and even eat my lunch sitting on the toilet floor. Anything to get a moment’s peace and quiet.” She adds, “I hate babies, they disgust me…”

Meanwhile, chaos reigns outside. “My older six are animals, getting more and more out of control, because I have no time to properly discipline them…

“My last nanny just quit, and I have no idea how I am going to get us out of this situation…

“This month, I have absolutely no clue how I am paying for anything. My bank account is overdrawn by $300, and I have no money to pay for the children’s school, food or the mortgage,” says Nadya, who’s signed up for the new HDNET dating show, Celebridate – despite the fact that she’s never dated and says, “all men are perverts and pedophiles.” [Ed note: she should know]

“This is actually the first time I have dated in my life…

“I have been celibate for 12 years and before that I have only ever slept with two men: one was the sperm donor of the children and the other was an ex boyfriend.” [Ed note: she was also married]

“I have always been aware of the effect I have on men. Ever since I was little, I was aware that men wanted me – and the hardest thing was keeping them all away.” [Ed note: yeah right]

Sidebar with more quotes
“For the first year, I didn’t even bond with my octuplets; there were just too many to love.”

“Some days I have thought about killing myself. I cannot cope.”

“Obviously, I love them – but I absolutely wish I had not had them.”

“They attack and bite each other, and I just don’t know how to stop them.”

“Pretty soon, all our money will have run out. What will we do then?”

[From In Touch, print edition, July 11, 2011]

Many of you said that you heard Octomom on the Howard Stern show this week and that she sounded fine and not at all despairing as she’s made out to be in this interview. I mentioned yesterday that another new online interview with her shows her acting as if everything is ok and she’s coping, as she’s maintained all along. This woman is clearly delusional, she would have to be to get in that situation in the first place, and she also seems manic as we’ve seen in her interviews on The View and Oprah. She similarly has a very slippery relationship with the truth, and her story has changed several times. I could easily imagine her saying these things, and I doubt that she was misquoted by In Touch. Is it as dire for her as she makes it out to be? It probably is in the brief moments she faces reality, but she also seems to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now that she’s doing more media appearances and bringing in money. She says she has no nannies left, but someone must be caring for these kids if she’s going off to the east coast to do celebrity boxing tournaments. It’s probably that mother of hers that she openly despises and regularly lies to.

Radar confirms that Suleman’s house is about to go into foreclosure, as we’ve heard rumors of for the last couple of years. Only this time the bank is foreclosing on her, not the owner who sold it to her. That man seems to have felt sorry for her and to have been covering for her (after the owner of porn company Vivid paid off the $450k balloon payment she owed), but he’s thrown up his hands at this point. Nadya has a past bankruptcy and her parents last home was foreclosed on also. It was a dumb move to sell her a home in the first place, but the guy who did it is more than aware of that now. As for what she’s going to do now that her money has predictably run out, Suze Orman told her exactly what to do over six months ago and it’s clear she didn’t hear a word. TMZ reports that Suleman made $28,000 in June doing paid appearances, but you know she’ll blow through that in a month tops.

This woman either needs to be neutered or put down. She is like animal herself having litters of children. Selfish, selfish woman.

  2. Eugene says:

She sholud have thought about the consecuences of having 14 children before! I feel so sorry for those kids

  3. J says:

She had her plumbing removed , thank god ! Take the children away ! She obviously can not care for them . There are millions of childless couples who want children . She thinks all men are child molesters ? She’s going on a dateing show ? Why would any man want this ugly sick bitch ? Why do we even have her in the news ? She should not be rewarded for destroying 14 peoples lives .

  4. fabgrrl says:

See, if it were me, I would just do the pr0n, then disappear. Yes, I would feel dirty and ashamed inside, but I would feel *more* dirty and ashamed if I let my babies starve or lost our home.

  5. Fox In Socks says:

My favorite part of the Howard Stern interview was where she denied a tummy tuck and said her stomach just “bounced back” after the octuplets. Umm… no. And she insisted she just has unique facial features because of her mixed ethnicity. She must come from Bruce Jenner’s people.

  6. Quest says:

I really despise this woman there should be a law against people like this.

  7. ladybert62 says:

I have such strong negative and hateful feelings about this woman – she is a leech to society and she is creating 16 little monsters who will some day be released from her custody into society as a whole – I feel sorry for the kids as it is not their fault and I do wish child protective services would step in and take them from her.

  8. bored says:

Those poor innocent children. Why does she not give them up to homes better equipped to give them the individual love and attention she so freely admits she is incapable of?

  9. Madisyn says:

We’ve seen this ploy numerous times. The “I’m destitute” one minute and then on TMZ today, she’s all but bragging she’s flush with cash.

Until I see photos of the Sheriffs Department hauling her shit out of the house, I don’t believe she’s being evicted.

Every few months, we get the tabloid interview about how she can’t pay the rent, then miraculously, we hear nothing. Rent has been paid by her or her begging is paying off. Then several months later, when the tabloid money is running low we get another interview, like this one, crying poverty.

“My last nanny quit”? I don’t buy that either. The mother is elderly and quite frankly, doesn’t want to be bothered long term.

I hope CPS takes those kids away, stat.

  10. SEF says:

I know so many people looking to adopt . . . at this point wouldn’t that be the best option for everyone involved? Give those kids up for adoption to willing and able parents, to give them a fighting chance for a better life?

  11. Hanh says:

I feel sorry for these children. They are going to grow up emotionally damaged by a selfish delusional and obviously mentally ill mother. I hope she does have nannies and that they protect the children from her.

  12. Laurie says:

One day she is broke, the next day she has plenty if money (with her kids in 12k a month private schoo!). Flip flop, flip flop, flip flop – Psychiatric evaluation needed ASAP!!!

  13. Obvious says:

@SEF i’m beginning to think that like Lohan these kids would be better raised by a pack of rabid wild dogs. they couldn’t do any worse!

  14. Cheyenne says:

@SEF: If she doesn’t want to give up the kids for adoption, how do you plan to get them away from her? Take her to court? Lots of luck with that. She may be a nut case but so far there isn’t a shred of evidence that any of the kids has been neglected or abused. And the courts require a hell of a lot more than a shred of evidence before they will take a child away from a parent.

  15. - says:

    She’s just disgusting

  16. Melinda says:

She is clearly mentally ill. Why haven’t the children been taken away from her?

  17. Mary K says:

My heart feels for the innocent children..she on the other hand needs psychiatric help!

  18. Blue says:

Lol she was only celibate because no man wants to sleep with her crazy ass.

  19. velourazure says:

    ROFL at comment #1.

    so totally true.

  20. Cheyenne says:

Melinda: Why haven’t the children been taken away from her?
    ==============================================

Because nobody has been able to make a case for neglect or abuse that will hold up in court. That’s why not.

  21. jover says:

I want to know who are the idiots that would pay to hear this narcissistic moron babble; one good thing; at least in our low brow celebutard pop culture, she has kind of disappeared so i guess there are some standards however minimum and negligible; and wtf with suzie orman having her as a guest. I like suzie are her rating declining?

  22. the original bellaluna says:

Yep, her kids act like animals because that’s what they’re being raised by: a being who functions on basic biology and breeds like wildfire with no regard for her young or the consequences.

  23. KsGirl says:

OK, so no comments or refutations from her camp re: the In Touch interview, makes me think it’s real. And that…wow. There is at least some kind of personality disorder going on there, and maybe worse. She either means what she says in the interview and is telling the truth (bad) or she’s saying it to be dramatic and OTT (also bad because it indicates some disordered thinking, imo).

Those poor children. It seems like the older ones have already gone feral.

  24. original kate says:

she is an unstable woman who had about 400 children to get attention; now the kids are here, the attention is gone and she’s looking for a way back in the spotlight for another 15 minutes. i really hope she had her tubes tied or the good people of CA may be supporting more of her kids in 9 months or so.

  25. Cheyenne says:

@SEF: If you want to get the kids away from her, try proving in court that she’s a bad mother. Good luck with that.

  26. Stubbylove says:

She needs a swift, hard kick in the crotch and then take a long walk off a short dock. Take those children away. End. Of. Story.

  27. Amanda G says:

I don’t feel sorry for her at all. I do feel bad for the kids though. I don’t know how Nadya will get herself out of this mess…if she’s even in this mess at all. I tend to believe that she’ll say whatever will get her paid.

  28. Cheyenne says:

Oh boy. I am going to post this one more time, in big caps, so maybe some of you will finally catch on:

YOU CANNOT TAKE THE CHILDREN AWAY UNLESS YOU CAN
PROVE IN COURT THAT SHE IS NEGLECTING OR ABUSING THEM. End. Of. Story.

Never mind that you don’t like her, you think she’s a slut, you think she’s crazy, etc. etc. You have to PROVE IN COURT that she’s an unfit mother. And the deck is stacked in favor of the birth parents. So rotsa ruck.

FWIW I think she’s crazy as a loon on crack, but from what I can see in the photos, the kids don’t look like they are being neglected or abused. If she is not sending the older kids to school and if they are not being home-schooled, a case could be made for educational neglect, but that would not effect the younger children who are not school age yet.

Twenty years experience going to court has shown me over and over again just how hard it can be to remove children from a bad home — and this is in situations where you have more than a gut feeling that something is wrong. The courts don’t like to break up homes.

  29. Bonnie says:

She wants the courts to step in and take the kids away so she can get some rest. That’s why she gave this latest interview. It’s disgusting has she is asking, no begging, for sympathy with all her woes. I think the whole lot of them need to be put down. That way the gene pool ends.

  30. anne_000 says:

didnt she spend a LOT of money on cosmetic surgery, not just to her stomach, but her face & maybe other parts of her body?

maybe she didnt really need duck lip fillers & a nose job, but could have saved that money for basic necessities instead.

i have a feeling that once she gets incoming money, she thinks primarily about what she could spend it on for herself.

  31. buguiii says:

Police is all day around Lindsay Lohan childish acts but they do nothing about this crazy woman…

  32. Kim says:

Give them up for adoption! There are plenty of lovely people who have the time, money and love she cant give them. BUT she wont because they are her meal ticket as far as getting press. Without the babies she wouldnt get media attention & she knows it so shell never give them up.

She thought she was going to be famous a la Kate plus 8 but that didnt pan out and NOW she is realizing what a mess she got herself into. What a joke! If she really loved those babies she would give them to families who can offer them much more loving and better lives. She is unstable and i am concerned over her raising 1 child let alone all these children with no help or money.

  33. Maritza says:

Child Services needs to give her a surprise visit to check the kids.

  34. Cheyenne says:

Maritza: Child Services needs to give her a surprise visit to check the kids.
    =============================================

They won’t unless someone phones in a complaint, and they have probably received so many fake complaints already that they won’t be in any rush to investigate.

  35. Hakura says:

@Bored“Why does she not give them up to homes better equipped to give them the individual love and attention she so freely admits she is incapable of?”

Isn’t it obvious? The cameras will follow the children right out the door. For someone who wanted fame badly enough to be implanted with 8 embryos, losing all that attention would feel like the end of her world. She’s deranged, & obviously has manic states if she goes from doom & gloom suicidal-hating-her-kids to cheerfully ‘totally fine’. It sounds like bipolar, but those symptoms apply to other mental problems as well.

But if it ever came to pass, I wouldn’t doubt for a second that she’d try to pitch a reality/documentary show revolving around her decision to surrender her children for adoption.
    —-
@Obvious“i’m beginning to think that like Lohan these kids would be better raised by a pack of rabid wild dogs. they couldn’t do any worse!”

At least in a pack of wild dogs, the children would have a stable family environment & the attention they need. (They’d probably get fed more reliably, too).

  36. Laurie says:

    @Cheyenne
What does the state do in an instance where a parent is potentially mentally ill? Does the state wait for the children to be injured first before action is taken or can they take steps in an attempt to make it a better living environment? I’ve seen the videos of the tups in covered cribs with her simply tossing bottles inside, one of the older kids stomping on the head of their younger sibling, bruises on their faces in photographs, and I saw the photo today of one tip sucking on drywall. It’s such a shame but I understand what you mean in terms of the state cannot just take kids away without a high level of proof.

  37. Laurie M. says:

Nadya admitted on Oprah (with Suzy Orman) that she made enough money after the tups were born to take care of the entire family FOR LIFE. She wasted money like a drunken sailor and still expects a handout. She even spent something like $8000 for Christmas the first year after the tups were born. This shows a pattern of bad decisions & choices the is still continuing.

  38. Vesper says:

I fail to see why it would be difficult to prove neglect in court based on: 1) her interview comments, 2) a psych evaluation, 3) interviews with the kids as well as objective evaluations of their lifestyle and developmental progress, 4) the situation in its entirety. The woman is about to lose her home, does homelessness not qualify as neglect?

  39. Trashaddict says:

Poor, poor Nadya. Sigh. (plays teeny tiny violin)…

  40. Cheyenne says:

    Laurie: Key word: Potentially.

I repeat what I said before: You cannot remove a child from a home as a preventive measure unless you can prove that the child is at serious risk of abuse and/or neglect. Example: the parent beats the hell out of one child and CPS removes all the children from the home. In that case you have a demonstrated instance of abuse. In the case of the Octomom, she may act nutty, but as far as I know she has never abused any of the children nor has she been diagnosed as mentally ill to the point where she is incapable of providing adequate care to the children. Bruises on the kids faces aren’t evidence of abuse unless you can show that the parents put them there. The parents claim the kids fell down, or were fighting, etc., and the courts tend to believe these claims unless the medical evidence proves otherwise (e.g. multiple healed fractures, many scars, etc.)

@Vesper: You’ve obviously never been in court on a termination of parental rights case. I’ve been in dozens of them, and believe me, it’s not easy. The courts side with the birth parents unless you can show conclusively that the parent is unfit. Her statement “I hate my kids” would not in itself be taken as evidence that she is a bad parent; the courts recognize that any parent, in a moment of extreme stress or exasperation, may say something they don’t mean. You don’t know what “the situation in its entirety” is, any more than anyone else who is not closely connected with the family. It would take an investigation by a trained social worker to make a determination of whether or not the kids were at risk in the home. And no, homelessness is not evidence of neglect. If it was, hundreds of thousands of kids whose homes were lost to foreclosure would be taken away from their parents. Homelessness can happen to the best families.

Bottom line: People hate this woman. They think she’s a slut, a parasite, a psychopath, a welfare queen, a fame whore, etc. etc., but to date, nobody has proved that she is a bad parent. The octuplets were at the highest medical risk of not surviving their first weeks of life. That all of them are alive and healthy two and a half years after they were born is a miracle. Somebody was taking good care of those kids.

  41. Cherry Rose says:

@Cheyenne – Sad as it seems, you are right. And let’s not forget that Nadya has nannies to help take care of her children as well. I’m quite sure if they saw anything that even remotely looked like abuse or neglect from Nadya to her children, they probably would have reported it by now. As much as I think Nadya is crazy and selfish, I really feel like she would never hurt her kids physically.

I’m not quite sure if her last nanny truly did quit, or Nadya is looking for sympathy. However, making $28,000 a month is more than a lot of people make in a year. And of course, if things are so bad, she could actually, you know, work. *GASP*

Which reminds me, has Nadya EVER worked since she’s had kids?

  42. Lady D says:

“I think the whole lot of them need to be put down. That way the gene pool ends. ”

Well that was a horrific start my day.

  43. Cheyenne says:

@Bonnie: That was an absolutely despicable thing to say. I hope to hell you don’t have any kids.

  44. Cheyenne says:

This is a very good website for parents of kids of all ages. Check it out:

    http://thestir.cafemom.com/toddler/122477/octomom_nadya_suleman_hates_her?next=1

  45. anonymoose says:

And yet she has time to talk on tv. Priorities!

  46. Judy says:

If babies disgust her, why was she repeatedly implanted? She belongs in a psych ward.

  47. Hakura says:

@Lady D – “Well that was a horrific start my day.”

God, I completely missed that comment. Just… no words. Yeah, will have to stick with “horrific“.

@Cheyenne“People hate this woman. They think she’s a slut, a parasite, a psychopath, a welfare queen, a fame whore, etc. etc., but to date, nobody has proved that she is a bad parent…. …That all of them are alive and healthy two and a half years after they were born is a miracle. Somebody was taking good care of those kids.”

I’ve never thought she was a ‘slut’, but I do believe she’s a parasite. Having high risk children in a completely unnatural manner purely by irresponsible choice… She did it for the fame-factor, without a thought to how it would affect the 6 children she already had (or the fact that her own health risk was high). I suspect the ‘somebody’ who took good care of the children were nurses & nannies, probably practically raising them.

But back to the legal issue… If someone believes a parent is mentally ill (in such a way that it could be negatively affecting her children), are CPS able to investigate? (or ask her to take a medical/psychological exam)? You’d think they’d see that as a risk, & want to at least look into it.

  48. Spiffy says:

Just to be clear, her 450k house note was NEVER paid off, by ANYONE. CPS needs to step in and get mandated reporters in her house, and some help. When the mandated reporter sees abuse, then CPS can move to remove the children until the living conditions and other problems are solved. There’s a picture in the In Touch magazine that shows one of the Octuplets EATING DRYWALL. Something needs to be done before one of those kids are killed!

  49. Callumna says:

Why isn’t her doctor getting drummed out of the business?

This unnatural, doctor created disaster is total malpractice that federal and state taxpayers are forced to pay for.

Not even going to ask why an owner of a porn company paid her house balloon payment. Too confusing. Just take away the doctor’s license and adopt out the victims before she harms them. She’s threatening suicide and talking about how she hates babies on t.v., that’s more than enough in any state to get a mental evaluation. In fact, if state authorities don’t do it at this point they’ll be negligent.

Nadya needs to figure herself out on her dime for a change. By, ummm, working as the young and able bodied among us all have to do.

This story is so Frankenstrange. Mad scientist doctors and all.

  50. Cheyenne says:

@hakura: CPS would certainly investigate a creditable complaint. Keyword is “creditable”. Let’s say you call CPS and ask them to investigate the home situation in the Suleman house because you think the mother is losing it. The first thing CPS will ask you is, based on what? They will ask you for specific, concrete examples of bizarre or dangerous behavior that you have seen with your own eyes. If it sounds like the kids are at risk, they will check it out. What they won’t check out is a phone call based on third-hand information, never mind a story you read in a celebrity tabloid, not to mention one that has a lousy track record for veracity to begin with. The complaint has to be creditable for them to start an investigation.
