Tim Gunn blasts Kirstie Alley for “lying deceptive shell game of vanity sizing”

wenn5719479

Last week, Kirstie Alley made her runway debut at NYFW, wearing some terrible blue ensemble. After disappearing for a little while (probably to get some kind of Xenu-audit, or whatever Scientologists do when they mysteriously disappear for weeks at a time), Kristie was BACK, with a vengeance. “Back” being some kind of code for Kristie’s continuing adventures in delusional numbers. I won’t even get into Kristie’s history of claiming nonsensical things about her size, because we’ve got a whole new interview to make fun of:

Kristie Alley has majorly slimmed down since her stint on the ABC show. “I’ve lost 100 pounds,” she told Entertainment Tonight in an interview that aired Tuesday.

“I feel like I’m back in my element,” the 60-year-old said. “I honestly didn’t even realize what I looked like.”

On Tuesday, Alley strutted her banging body on the Zang Toi catwalk in NYC. Clad in an elegant-yet-dramatic royal blue, rhinestone-adorned gown, she wowed the audience as she closed her designer pal’s Spring 2012 show.

“Before Dancing with the Stars, I bought these dresses from size 14 to 4,” she explained. “[They were] all the same dress, and I said, ‘You know what I really want? I really wanna be in this dress in a 4!'”

So does the actress — who says she is indeed now a size 4! — want to follow up her weight loss with a little nip and tuck? “I haven’t had plastic surgery but here’s the reason: People do plastic surgery to make you look younger,” she said. “I don’t think it makes you look younger. I like it can make you look weirder.”

Alley’s trim new physique might attract some more male suitors, but they should be prepared: she’s not looking for anything long term! “This is what I think about sex,” she said bluntly. “I think its fun to hookup every night for six months… Then it’s time to move on!”

[From Us Weekly]

100 pounds? But Kristie claimed she was a “stretchy size 8” when she began Dancing With the Stars, and now she’s maintaining that she went down to a size 4. A 100-pound weight loss does not equal a drop from a size 8 to a size 4. Plus, I don’t think she lost 100 pounds. I think she lost maybe 40 to fifty pounds, and went down from something like a size 18 to a 12. That’s what Tim Gunn thinks too (sort of), and he’s calling Kristie out for being insane:

When Kirstie Alley revealed in an Entertainment Tonight clip that she has lost 100 pounds since being on Dancing with the Stars and is down to a size 4, Tim Gunn raised a perfectly groomed, silver eyebrow.

In an interview with Tampa radio station 98.7 FM, the Project Runway star shed some light on the actress’ size claim saying, “There is a phenomenon out there right now that I call the lying deceptive shell game of vanity sizing. In fact a 4 is really a 6 or an 8.”

The chief creative director for Liz Claiborne explained his theory, which was based on an experiment he did at Parsons.

“We took a size 8 dress from 1980 one from 1990 and one from 2000 and compared them — the difference between them was two and a half inches in the waist alone!” said Gunn.

As for Alley’s true size, the fashion guru guesses that she’s between a size 8 and a 10.

“But she looks fabulous,” he added. “People are too size conscious.”

[From Us Weekly]

Okay, Tim was a lot nicer than most people about Kristie’s delusional sizing. Here’s the thing, though – I don’t think Kristie is being “fooled” by vanity sizing, meaning that the designers are to blame. I think she’s so crazy that her assistants probably sew in new labels to her size 12 or 14 clothes so that she can maintain this idea that she’s a “size 4”.

  1. Rita says:

I think it would’ve been niffty if Kristie had accessorised the blue dress with a crystal ball and a magic golden staff while flowing down the runway on roller skates…just a first thought.

  2. Kimble says:

It’s a shame that she can’t just celebrate the fact that she looks fabulous for 60!

She looks a bit heavier and lumpier than me (especially the legs) and I am a 14 in strictly NON-designer (read High Street) togs. I think we are roughly the same height. I definitely have a few more wrinkles – especially on the forehead and I’m only 49 😉

  3. Jen says:

I think she’s going with the “If I say it enough times, it will be true!” line of thinking.

    Size 4, my ass.

  4. sandra says:

    Of course she’s a size 10 or 12. She’s a silly woman.

  5. e.non says:

she appears even more delusional by insisting she’s a 4; besides, what’s wrong with 8 or 12… considering what she looked like just a few short months ago, she should be extremely proud of the weight she has lost.

i do wish she’d lay off the dark nail polish; it makes her hands look like claws.

  6. brin says:

    Team Gunn.

  7. searching4grace says:

She might be a size 4……if she buys from the same shops as Kim Kardashian.

  8. khaveman says:

Ok first of all, I’m not going to hate on Kirstie, even though she is cray cray. She’s a solid 10-12. There is nothing wrong with that. She looks great for 50-something and should be proud of herself. She’s a pretty woman.

  9. Girafe99 says:

@Rita are you from the UK, cos that imagery just says one thing to me Mystic Meg (without the roller skates)!

  10. Rita says:

    @Girafe99

I’m not from the UK. I’m just a midwestern housewife but because I don’t like to divulge to much personal information, I can’t tell you what country I’m from. Most countries have a midwest, you know. lol

  11. Cheyenne says:

Who is she kidding? I’m half her size and I wear a six.

  12. Nina says:

So not only is she delusional about her size but she’s delusional about plastic surgery. A 60 year old woman does not normally have a face like that. What she’s had done is tasteful and age-appropriate but still, work has been done.

  13. the original bellaluna says:

Delusional or not, she looks amazing for her age!

And I like that nail colour…anyone know the dets on where to get it?

  14. Lady D says:

“Tim Gunn raised a perfectly groomed, silver eyebrow.”
His eyebrows are nowhere near silver, and she looks huge in that blue getup.

  15. ahoyhoy says:

The WORST part about Kirstie’s delusion is that she is about to try and SELL Scientology as a weight-loss tool. Don’t fall for it, ladies!

I’m old enough to remember cult members—‘Moonies’— trolling parking lots for donations in the 70’s. Will today’s housewives know a MONEY-PIT-CULT when they see it?

  16. jc126 says:

Size 10, I’d say. She looks great, I hope she keeps it up.

  17. Carlotta Love says:

She looks like an 8 on the top, 10 on the bottom to me. Whatever size she is, her arms look super skinny in that blue, bejeweled housecoat, and much less so in the flesh. Interesting.

  18. Denise says:

Size 4 must be the new number; I am a size 4 and I am sick and tired of people like Alley and Kim Kardashian claiming constantly that they are size 4. Maybe she is, on planet Xenu.

  19. Original Tiffany says:

I’m her height and an 8 on bottom, 6 on top. She is WAY bigger than me. I’m guessing a 14. I was sick with thyroid disease and went to 235 lbs. I was a size 20. I lost 85 pounds, back to normal and dropped from a 20 to an 8. I want to know what drugs she is taking. For once Tim Gunn was generous with her size. My legs only looked like that when I was a 14 or above.
I like to call it Xenu body Thetan delusion. She is still remembering her days on Cheers, when she was probably a 6 or 8. Kinda hard for us Amazons to get into 4s. Most of us, at least. You tall, skinny girls…sigh.

  20. palermo says:

I think she lies about everything. Her top weight was probably closer to 280 if not more. She lied when she went on Oprah in tht ridiculous “bikini”. She was probably a size 24 and is now a 14. Size 4? She lives in her own imagination.

  21. tooey says:

I’d say she went from 18-22 to 14-16 range, maybe a “stretchy” 10-12. Women’s clothing sizes are insane and they always have been. When I was at my skinniest (loong time ago!) and looked absolutely great, I had clothes in my closet that were from 6-12 and they all fit. I was probably a “true” 10-12 and that was a great size for me. But no way was I a 6 and I was never delusional enough to believe that regardless of the label sewn in my skirt. Buy what fits and looks good and screw the numbers.

  22. DetRiotgirl says:

    I could maybe buy that she’s an 8. She’s definitely not a 4 though.

But, just to say something nice, I’d like to add that I waited on her a few years ago and she was actually quite sweet. I felt bad because, when the other servers saw who was at my table, they all starting making jokes in the back of the house about how she must be ordering four brunch specials with a side of pancakes and were just making all kinds of obnoxious fat jokes. In reality, she ordered an entree salad, and split it with someone else at the table. She ate sensibly, tipped well and was generally really pleasant to be around.

  23. Hellen says:

“Stretchy size 8”? Depending on how much Spandex is in the fabric, that could cover a LOT. Some of those “travel dresses” are like expandable circus tents – great for when you have limited luggage space but want to eat your way around Paris.

I still say she got a lap band.

  24. Abet Ana says:

She really needs to shut up about her size. Why is it not enough for her to say “I lost a bunch of weight and I feel amazing, I love the way I look.”

Why must she go on and on about her size? Ugh

  25. BigHair&Pearls says:

By UK sizes I would say she’s between 14 and 16, leaning more towards 16. I’ll have to look up what that is in American sizes!

  26. Nicole says:

I do think she lost 100 lbs. As someone who’s lost 50, you do know what it looks like. What she’s not telling you is that she was probably a size 22/24. So reducing yourself to a size 10 is more realistic.

  27. laylajane says:

She’s not on drugs, she had the lap-band like everyone else lately. She has always been crazy, that’s her normal state. She knows damn well she’s not a 4, she just isn’t gonna tell us that.

The reason she wants just a booty call is because that ex-hubby of hers took her to the cleaners. I’m sure she doesn’t want to go through that again.

  28. Blue says:

I’m so sick of vanity sizings. Makes it so hard to find a bra. Few years ago I bought bras from a store which fit perfectly. 2 wks ago I went back and I could barely get my boob in a cup size bigger. Different store a few months apart and the sizing are different also. Ugh they need to get some universal sizings. Even buying shoes and stuff for my daughter is difficult. Too big, too small or just perfect.

    Oaky rant done.

  29. atlantapug says:

    Yeah, size 4. Bull.

I love when you get the People Mag. size issue and obviously thick people (who still lost a lot of weight so congrats) claim they are now a 2 or a 4.

I am thin. Tall and thin. And I wear an 8. I am waaaay smaller than Kirstie Alley.
You Go Tim Gunn! LOVE YOU!

  30. atlantapug says:

oh, and no size 4 would wear that hulking bag of bedazzled curtains that Kirstie calls a dress.

  31. nemera says:

She is a size 12 or 14… I wear a 10, my legs and ass are not near her size. and I actually think I’m bigger than other people say they think I am.. I’m 5’8 1/2.. my biggest was a size 14 and even then my arms and legs and thighs were smaller than her. I know some people carry their weight in a different way. I’m lucky that my top and bottom halves match.

Sick of all the size stuff.. but even more sick of celebrity women jammering on about what size they wear.. Kim, Jennifer Love, Kirstie.. I learned a long time.. the more expensive the cloths the bigger the size lie. She should be happy to be healthier.. not that her label is lying saying a 4. Because I’m a lot of things STUPID is not one of them.. she is not a 4 on planet earth.

  32. Turtle Dove says:

I’m glad that you covered this. I read it elsewhere and had my fingers crossed.

Tim Gunn brings up an excellent point with vanity sizing. It does exist. I have jeans that I’ve worn through various stages in my life, and I can still fit all of them except those from my teens. I am the same size, but the size on the label has gone down over the years. Here’s where it gets weird. I was small in my teens and I can’t fit into the clothes at. all. but I am now the same label size I was as a teenager. Not possible.

There is NO way Kirstie is smaller than a US 10. No way. I’d say 10 up top and 12 on the bottom, which is FANTASTIC for a woman of 60, but be real. I’d like her more if she were real about it.

Oh, yeah… did she have a little jowl work done. Looks good, but again… be real.

  33. lucy2 says:

She looks fantastic, and maybe not 100 lbs, but she’s lost a lot. She should be thrilled with that and quit talking about the sizing.

  34. Ginevra124 says:

I feel like in Hollywood, admitting to being a size four is just code for being fat. Well, not fat per se, just not being skinny. Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, they all do it. It’s like going on the cover of some women’s magazine with some declaration of how they “embrace their curves!” So it doesn’t really matter what their actual size is. It’s just the default answer for anyone who isn’t stick thin.

  35. snapnhiss says:

She looks a lot like Fergie in the face in those photos. I agree about her having plastic surgery, there’s no way a 60 year old could pass for another woman that’s in her mid 30s.

  36. taxi says:

She looks great. She’s a healthy size 14 in US sizing, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Too bad so many women are hung up on a number. Clothing manufacturers adjust from a uniform sizing standard in order to flatter our vanity.

  37. Hautie says:

I actually believe she did loose 100 pounds. But I am not believing those she can squeeze into a 4. I would need to see her in person to actually make a call on her actual size. But I am leaning towards 10-12. Her top being 10 and her bottom half being a 12.

But she looks great. And the swelling in her calves and ankle’s have finally gone down.

Yet I don’t believe she has screwed with her face. If you see her in profile her neck/under her chin is still soft.

And for the record why is it the general public believe that women just fall apart? We turn 35 and our faces crash? There are lots of great looking girls out here roaming around with great faces… who are well over 40.

  38. Cheyenne says:

tooey: Women’s clothing sizes are insane and they always have been.
    ============================================

Oh God, you ain’t woofin’. That’s why I have to try everything on before I buy it. Years ago I had six dresses in my closet, size 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9, and every single one of them fit perfectly. I’ve tried on size 4’s that were too big and size 6’s that were too small. Where’s the consistency? It drives me nuts.

But Kirstie’s no size 4, no matter what she fantasizes.

  39. Hootie Hoo says:

Who cares what size she is? As long as she is healthy for her height and frame it doesn’t matter what size her clothes are? Women sizing is all over the map anyway.

I love Tim Gunn by the way!

  40. Original Tiffany says:

Oh, AtlantaPug, thank yo for saying you are tall, skinny and an8! You made my day. I always feel so big (maybe left over in my head from when I was big, I always think I am fat).
Now I feel tall, skinny and an 8. I love you:)
And yep, we are WAY smaller that KA.

  41. Turtle says:

Good! I’m so tired of Kirstie Alley and her weight issues. She needs to just accept that she’s a big girl who will always have to work to keep her weight down. She’s 60 and still hung up on being a particular size, and that’s sad. I’d be surprised if she wasn’t a 10 or 12, which are totally fine sizes. It’s a shame she thinks she has to lie about her size even after she’s lost weight.

  42. Mrs.Krabapple says:

    That’s a size 18 if ever I saw one.

She looks good. But what’s sad is that by LYING about it, she’s telling the world that it is tremendously important to be skinny (like a size 4) and that there’s something wrong or shameful about being her true size. That’s the sad thing. So many times — whether it’s celebrities who starve themselves, or do the vanity-sizing thing like Alley — I think what they really need is not a better diet, but better therapy. Of course, being a Scientologist, that probably won’t happen.

  43. macey says:

Im just glad someone is finally blowing the lid on these ridiculous vanity sizes. The whole 0 and 00 sizes are insane, there is no such thing. its really something between a 2-6. They make it impossible to buy anything online any more.
Im lucky Ive managed to stay the same size/weight for over 20 yrs (give or take 5 lbs here n there) but my clothes sizes seem to go smaller and smaller even tho Im really still a size 6 and my body hasnt changed. always cracks me up when i hear Kim K and others say they’re a 0 or trying to be a 0 or 2 when really even that is a 4 or 8. Nothing wrong with either one or even a 10-12. thats still slim by most standards except the mags that print articles based on celebs sizes.

  44. JennJennM says:

“I’m her height and an 8 on bottom, 6 on top. She is WAY bigger than me. I’m guessing a 14.”

Agreed, Tiffany. She is AT LEAST a 14. One of my best friends is tall and built like Kirstie, and she presently wears a 14. She shrunk down to a size 10 a few years ago before piling the pounds back on. Remember how trim Oprah looked in her size 10 jeans? That’s how my friend looked. Even this extravagant, flowing dress cannot camouflage Kirstie’s smaller but still heavy figure. Kristie has probably lost about 40-50 pounds and looks great. No need to pad her achievement by lying.

  45. janet says:

It’s indisputable that she’s lost a significant amount of weight, but saying you’re a size whatever means nothing in the era of vanity sizing.

Talk in pounds (or kilos) – the scale doesn’t lie.

  46. Katy says:

So am I correct in assuming that sizes 6-8 are for fat girls nowadays? Kristie Alley is clearly full of crap, but what’s really offensive is that many curvy women keep touting they’re a “size 4” like it’s the magic number.

Zara has done the same thing. I went in to get a dress a few weeks back and the store was selling clothes in sizes 6 and 8 marked as “L”; I was so pissed off (yes, I’m a size 8 ) that I vowed never to shop there again!

  47. Shelby says:

She looks great but there isn’t a way in hell she’s a size 4.

  48. Sunshine Daze says:

Poster #1’s (Rita’s)comment was by far the funniest thing I’ve read all day!!! The other poster’s are also right… I’m 5’7″ and work out 4X week just to fit into some larger size 6’s and regular size 8’s. There is NO WAY Kirstie is a size 4. NO FLIPPIN WAY. Supermodels are size 4’s (and 2’s and 0’s). Either way, Kirstie looks great, but she would be better off being HONEST with herself and just accepting the fact that size is nothing but a gratuitous number that the fashion industry creates.

  49. wunderkindt says:

She has to be at least a 12-14.

    A 4? Dream on!!!

  50. Beatrice says:

Dumbledore called–someone took his formal robes. So sad that Kirstie keeps claiming to be a size 4–no way. Her assistants must just cut the 1 off of the 14 label.

  51. wunderkindt says:

    @Katy
If all the clothes are made in China, then yeah, a size 6-8 is probably marked as L!

  52. texasmom says:

Well, they have to size that dress she’s wearing at the show to be a 4 or 6 because the Disney Villainesses will CURSE your ass if you make them buy a 14!

  53. xxodettexx says:

i’m a size 00/0 1/2 3/4 depending on the designer/year/decade (i am also 4’11.5″ AND i have the tiniest bone structure, birdlike ive been told)… vanity labeling is so ridiculous and it doesnt help when i want to get something cute online and i havent tried that designer/style before; all we ask is for consistency!!

    /rant

  54. Carolyn says:

Kirstie had a LOT of weight to loose. It could be as much as 100lbs. Bet anything though she’s had weight loss surgery, lipo on the arms & legs etc etc. Losing that amount of weight is very difficult – I don’t think she’d have the dedication or patience to do it with exercise and healthy eating alone. She does look much better and healthier than before. Not going near the debate on what size she is…we all know what that’s about.

  55. Stephanie says:

I wish she would stop constantly talking about her weight. Exercise, eat smart, and let it goooo.

  56. KatScorp says:

The emaciated Ali Lohan is a friggin’ size 2! Kirsty Alley isn’t even in the single digits range, and I say that as a fatty myself. Kirsty is a size 14-16, MAYBE size 12 if vanity sizing in America is to the extent the commenters claim. Keep in mind the woman is wrapped in spandex.

  57. atlantapug says:

    @ tiffany…

    You’re welcome. We ARE skinny!
    lol

  58. Jang says:

who cares. tim gunn is an idiot. he’s covered head to toe in fabric. whatever. christy rocks it at 60!

  59. Kelly says:

I think she looks nice in the dress, doesn’t need plastic surgery. But she looks to me like a 14 and there is nothing wrong with that. A 4? No way.

  60. april says:

I think she lost 100 lbs. or close to it. My niece lost a 100 lbs. and is similar to Kirstie’s before and after. However, I do agree that she is at least a size 12 or maybe even a 14.

I don’t believe she had any plastic surgery on her face. There’s a few women over 55 who still look good without a facelift but not too many.

  61. JaneWonderfalls says:

I think Kristie Alley looks great but as I said in a previous post about this she does not look like a size 4. Good for Tim Gunn for calling it out. To many people have body deformation and perceive that this is how a size 4 looks and it doesn’t. Kristie is about a 6-8 period.

  62. ViloDeMenus says:

She’s delusional, and she weighs somewhere in the 180’s to 190’s, if you have eyes and know clothing you can see she’s still VERY LARGE. It makes her look stupid, when she was at her biggest she weighed over 300lbs, and was morbidly obese. This woman is still around a size 18, just because you put a tag in something with a random number doesn’t mean that is your size, except to her. It’s crazy, she’s crazy and it makes women who see this nonsense crazy. Most people who are the right size for height and weight work at it very hard, diet and exercise, not her manic bouncing up and down, which will lead to huge health problems not that far down the road. Diet, exersize, and portion moderation, being healthy emotionally and the desire to feel great everyday is how it’s done, not a fake tag to make some ego maniac feel good. Shame on Tang Toi for going along with this nonsense.

  63. Abby says:

You can only go by measurements people. A size 4 at chico’s is a size 12 at other stores. You’re being really ignorant. The dress maker could have put her in a dress that says “4” especially if that dress maker has to make dresses for really tiny people that go to size 00. And the article said she said she’s a size for. It’s not in quotes. If you don’t know that a “size 2 woman” can be a size 6 woman in other store than you are either ignorant and/or don’t shop. I’m very tiny (by measurents, my waist is 24) and I range from being a size 2 at Macy’s to a size 8 at H & M. The sizes are dicided by the companies, NOT by some national code of measurements!

  64. atlantapug says:

@ Abby, I get what you are saying, but the only store that offers a size 4 that Kirstie Alley can wear is the one in her dreams.

  65. irishserra says:

Ugh! I think it’s this attitude (Kirstie’s feeling like she has to lie about her size) that makes it harder for normal 10/12 girls out there! At my slimmest, I’m a 12, maybe a 10 in a good week and I couldn’t possibly lose more if I tried! I never would have had a complex about it but for the stories of people like Kirstie, Mimi, etc. who have their assistants “re-label” their clothing, and the subsequent debates over it. I admire that the woman lost a lot of weight, but I’d have deeper admiration if she were completely up front about her struggles.

  66. Original Tiffany says:

@Janet, I don’t know if that was directed to me, but I am 5’9″, and 145/150. That’s an 8 bottom in the US or a size 30 in designer jeans.

Kirstie Alley couldn’t even wear a designer jean, they only go to 32. She’s a bit crazed when it comes to the size thing. I don’t think anyone’s vanity sizing comes close to what she is talking about. They don’t vanity size a 14/16 to a 4. I’d be a 0, which is patently ridiculous!
Her jowls Do seem smaller, right? Tweaked?

  67. Erinn says:

Haha, I love Tim Gunn. He’s a lovely man.

It’s disgusting when people make themselves seem like they’ve accomplished way more than they have. Why not be happy that you lost a ton of weight and look pretty darn good at 60 when a little while ago you were huge? I personally weigh too much for my 5’3″ frame… thank you genetics, but I do not look anywhere near as big as Ms. Alley. I actually weigh a lot more than I look like I do, which is nice I guess, still in the process of changing my diet/exercise plan but whatever. At the end of the day Kirstie looks a lot bigger than I do, but claims to be multiple sizes smaller. She makes it really annoying for people who are trying to lose weight, who never let themselves get to the point that she let herself.

  68. dorothy says:

    Love Tim Gunn.

  69. janet says:

Original Tiffany – I didn’t even read your comment, so no, mine wasn’t directed at you. To reiterate what I said, it makes more sense to talk numbers on the scale as opposed to sizes — a pound is a pound is a pound, but a size depends on the manufacturer & designer.

  70. Jane says:

I think you are right, Kaiser, she is crazy. I also think she is just plain lying about all of it. She is just so desperate about wanting to say she is in a single digit dress size that she will say it even if isn’t true. I also don’t believe for one minute that she hasn’t had plastic surgery or something like injections. I find her pretty pathetic actually because she refuses to face reality.

  71. april says:

Abby – you’re right. Chico’s size 4 is a size 12 in other stores. Excellent example of vanity sizing.

  72. Callli Pygian says:

Whatever the numerical size, her weight loss is dramatic- as in LAP-BAND SURGERY.

Which technically isn’t cosmetic surgery, but bariatric surgery, used on the morbidly obese.

Good for her. But damn, she needs to change that hair color.

  73. SueAnn says:

She looks fabulous! To loose any weight at her age is a big accomplishment. And I totally get the whole “I didn’t know what I looked like” thing. I was 220 before I found out I was diabetic and I am now 170 and when I look at pics I am floored I was that big!!!

  74. gobo says:

Her hair… it looks oddly luke strips of Bacon.

  75. DarkEmpress says:

I want to know what that thing on top of her head is! I would guess it is a hairpiece but it looks like it has the texture of melted kraft singles.

  76. Amanda says:

Agreed. She is not a size 4. I am 5’3″ on a good day and my weight fluctuates between 105 and 115.I’m also small boned. That usually means I am a 2 or 4. I find for every 10 pounds I gain or lose I go up or down a size. Like others have said, sizes have changed over the decades – I was smaller in high school than I am now and wore a 6 or 8 back then. I am glad Kirstie is taking some weight off – she does look much healthier, so for that I applaud her. I hope she keeps it up!

  77. Kelly says:

@Jen, my very first thought upon reading this article was, “SIZE 4, MY ASS!” Great minds think alike.

I wish to god “celebrities” would stop talking about their weight. I know they’re photographed all the time, blah blah, but the more you talk about it, the more you draw attention to it. Women in my workplace talk about their weight constantly and I wish they would shut up – it’s so undignified and TMI.

  78. NeNe says:

I think that she looks great, but there is no friggen way that she is a size 4. I am much smaller than she is, and I’m a 6-8. She should just fess up and state her true size, and just be happy with the fact that she has lost so much weight.

  79. txvxf says:

She definitely could be a size 4 in Chico’s sizes. They’ve expanded their sizing up. (To give you an idea, I can wear size 16-18 pants from Target, but I’m in a size 3 – 3.5 at Chico’s.)

  80. clare says:

Proof that $cientology doesn’t soothe the soul of its celebrity flock of narcissisists.
Everything about her is “ME – ME – ME.”
    She is like a child.

  81. Krista says:

Tim is just being nice, she’s definitely not an 8 or a 10, probably more like a 16/18. Who cares? She’s obviously lost some weight. I dunno why she feels like she has to lie about it.

  82. It is ME!! says:

Why can’t weight loss (or weight gain, depending on your situation) be about good diet, exercise, and feeling your best and healthiest? Who cares about the size on the label if you have more energy and feel great? Those feelings come whether you are a 4, 8, 12, or 16…..Kirstie should focus on THAT.

    That being said…TEAM GUNN!!

  83. Stubbylove says:

Love the Gunn – tells it like it is. I agree with him about being so damn size obsessed – who gives a crap – dress well/appropriate for your size and be confident – nothing else really matters – you’ll look fabulous. She’s delusional – but that’s kinda why we like her (if you do). I think the bitch looks friggin’ great for 60 but that hair in the runway pic is for the crazies.

  84. G says:

K, that dress makes her look like a boat.

I think she looks good. but no way is she anything smaller that a 14. Nothing wrong with being a 14 and I thank Tim Gunn for adding some reality to this discussion and confirming what we can all see with our own eyes.

BTW, I love vanity sizing. I just don’t think that we need any XXS’s though. LOL.

  85. smh says:

    She is pathetic. nuff said

  86. aummer says:

@Amanda, we’re the same size. I’m 5’3″ and usually within a couple pounds of 110 lbs. I’m a size 4 in pants and 2 in tops. I bought my first size 0 suit a couple years ago. I haven’t gotten smaller, it’s the sizing.

No way is Alley a size 4, unless she’s going by Jennifer “I’m a size 2” Hewett.

  87. Jane says:

What really bothers me about these celebrities that lie about their size and weight is that young girls that don’t know any better believe them. They start comparing themselves to them and think, if she’s a size 4 and I’m a size 10, I must really be a cow. I had a friend who died from anorexia. She was always reading about celebrities weights and feeling that she wasn’t thin enough. Look at that Celebrity Fit Club show, those were the fattest 130 pound people I’ve ever seen. All celebrities lie about their weight or else they are all only 4 feet tall.
