Katy Perry’s pink hair and matching pink dress & coat: fun or boring?

fp_8038753_barm_katyperry_0
Here’s Katy Perry out with her mother-in-law, Barbara Brand, outside Nobu restaurant in London last night. The two went to a showing of the musical Ghost on the West End and were caught by paparazzi after their dinner together. I think it’s so nice that Katy is holding hands with her MIL. Mrs. Brand is so pretty and nicely dressed without looking plastic or showy at all. In terms of Katy’s look, it’s not her worst. She’s still trying to work that cotton candy hair she’s had for the past few weeks. It all looks so matchy-matchy with the fuchsia jacket and dress, but it was obviously what she was going for and the result is kind of humorous and sweet. At least she’s covered up for a night out with Russell’s mom and her tits aren’t hanging out all over the place.

Katy Performed on the UK’s X-Factor on Sunday night, but I guess it didn’t do much to boost the show’s ratings. People were gossiping that she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring, but maybe we can assume that things are ok between her and Russell since she wore it when she went out with his mom the next night. Or maybe that’s what Katy is hoping we’ll think. Here’s more:

On Sunday night, the 26-year-old pop singer belted out an acoustic version of The One That Got Away on the X Factor.

Taking to the stage with a guitar in hand, her wedding ring was nowhere to be seen.

This instantly fuelled gossipmongers on Twitter, claiming the significance of her ring missing must mean there are troubles in paradise for the Brands.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘Katy Perry wearing no wedding ring. Shame cos they had a lot in common. He kissed girls and liked it too. #Xfactor.’

Another added: ‘Katy Perry- no wedding ring and singing about the one who got away…subliminal messages?? #XFactor.’

Russell was unable to make Monday night’s girly trip as he is currently touring Canada with his comedy show Russell Brand Live.

However, Katy’s message couldn’t have been clearer as she didn’t stop beaming in her mother-in-law’s company and made sure to flash her ring finger to the paps to show its absence was most likely just a wardrobe decision on Sunday night.

The two ladies clearly had a good time in each other’s company and after the theatre headed to London’s trendy Nobu restaurant.

I tend to believe that Katy and Russell are having trouble. He looked kind of dazed during their appearance at the VMAs and she recently changed her tune about wanting to have kids. At least she’s trying to make nice with Russell’s mom while he’s far away touring. I wonder how long they’ve been apart for this time.

Um, are her roots like that on purpose? Please tell me that was not the goal.

Call me over the hill – but I have never liked pink (or orange or green or purple or striped or polka dotted) hair.

The rest of her outfit is nice and she looks good.

Nice to see her getting along with her mom-in-law!

    There’s nothing like a good get-together/outing w/the mother-in-law to make good w/her hubby.

I think this pairing is going to be doomed eventually, but they should try to have a good time while it lasts. Methinks Russell and Katy have too wide an age gap & they don’t have all too much in common.

And yes, I agree w/Celebitchy…it was very respectful, thoughtful and nice that Katy decided to give the boob flashing a rest on the night out w/the mother-in-law!

Cute outfit – and the hairstyle and makeup are great. She’s a beautiful girl.

But the pink hair is juvenile and overplayed.

Nothing screams look at me like pink hair. Moving on Katie…

Over rated and talentless. Her pink hair and hideous black roots are the least of her worries.

She’s adorable. Don’t care for the hair but the lips, the dress, the jacket are great!

The outfit looks good. The hair looks ridiculous.

Mom-in-law looks better than she does.

She looks great. She can lose the pink hair, anytime. Not wearing your wedding ring once in a while means absolutely nothing.

The pink hair is childish (as is the blue hair). And the exposed natural-colored roots make it all the more hideous.

Funny couples are cute, so I can only wish the best to the Perry/Brand household. Katy is 26, not 46. Let her have some fun, even if pink hair and clothing is involved.

Don’t know about you guys but I, much like Katy Perry, always try to co-ordinate my lipstick and outfit to match my hair. As a brunette, this poses many issues, such as being mistaken for a wooden pole, but dammit it’s a look I can get behind.

Also stop me if I’m wrong but I thought pink hair was strictly the property of teenage girls trying to be rebellious when piercings seemed too painful, tattoos too permanent and blaring My Chemical Romance just wasn’t cutting it anymore.

I think there are times in a girl’s life when, if it’s pink hair she wants, it’s pink hair she should have.

I love everything about her look. I like watching her have fun, and I adore her music.

this chick has an idiotic style. like the sheltered christian kid who just rebelled from her parents and wants so fervently to be cool. also, I know there’s some natural prettiness under there, what’s with the horrible caked on 2hr sit-in makeup on her?

  15. Kim says:

Liz – I agree with all you said except the natural prettiness. There is none hence the 20 pds of makeup. Weve seen her without it and she is not a looker. Terrible dye job. It looks sprayed on. She is an adult who dresses like a kid for schtick. So lame!

Katy please go back to black hair and-or extensions. Pink is not your best look. I hope KP doesn`t have to pay RB hush money when they get a divorce.

I love the dress. The hair needs to be redyed, the roots may or may not be intentional but the ends are fading.

  19. gg says:

Ugh – the pink hair has always looked like a mistake covering up another mistake; i.e., trying to bleach out the black dye leaves your hair orange. And now the roots!? Just awful. Colored hair + 2-inch roots = homeless teenager.

Why on earth is she not just wearing a nice wig, especially on a fancy night out with her mo-in law?? She wore a lot of wigs before, and now that her hair is looking its absolute worst, she won’t wear one. ?

I like pink or blue hair, but not that crappy pink lipstick. She just sucks. Her talent is so wafer-thin, her voice seems so manipulated. It sounds different on every damn song.

maybe a bit too 2003 for me, but crazy colored hair is never exciting to me since it’s done all the time.

I agree with gg: there are so many beautiful & fun wigs out there. Punk colors + cuter cuts! And if you must choose pink, go with the hair OR the outfit. Not both. Poor Russell. I give them 6 months before they splitsies!

  23. CA says:

When you dye dark hair it’s never good to put bleach on or near your scalp you’re suppose to color 1/2 inch away or she could have a sensitive scalp. I do and it’s the pits I can never fully bleach my hair or I’ll end up with blisters galore on my scalp. As for the rest of her look, I think the dress would look better without that cape like material and the rest is pretty damn cute

  24. Lindy says:

I think she looks pretty cute here, pink hair and all. I have always wanted to be brave enough to go for electric blue or bright pink (especially after I saw Kate Winslet rock it in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).

I don’t really have a good reason for it, but I am kind of rooting for Katy and Russell.

Shankat i hate to disillusion you but it’s not her “music” it’s written for her by her corporate label/producers/professional writers – if she wrote arranged and produced it then it would be her “music”; she’s so talentless I don’t think she could actually write a song above the grade school level to save her life. Check the credits on her cd’s.

Have been to her gig in London last Friday and she was AMAZING! You can say all you want about her, but she truly can sing. Don’t let a poor TV performance (like the American one you guys are always mentioning), ruin you opinion of her. I went to the gig expecting nothing, and instead she really surprised me! And she definitely wasn’t lip-sinking (I’m a singer and can recognize certain things..).

  29. Wez says:

God, she looks like such a drunk bimbo all the time. Using Brand’s mother as a prop to demonstrate their marriage is OK? Gross. Doesn’t the UK already have Katie Price for this tacky shite? Katy always looks like such a desperate attention whore. All these losers saying she can sing she can sing? She is a singer. That is what defines her. The point is that there are thousands that can sing better and do and are not given a thousandth the money or praise this whore gets. People who are not brain dead are allowed to question that. Enough. She is crap on a stick and you are tone deaf and know nothing about actual music. Take your thumbs out of your mouths go play with your glitter and my little ponies and such on your pixie sticks. Embarrassing. I wish her are her pervert sh*t stain husband would disappear.
