Emma Watson in red-pink Valentino in London: the best she’s ever looked?

We haven’t heard or seen much of Emma Watson since she began “studying abroad” at Oxford University last fall. After much consternation and name-calling (on my part), I was so happy to see her go back to school and avoid the pitfalls of becoming a child-star-turned-party-girl (see: Lindsay Lohan). I was also happy to Emma go back to school because it’s given me a chance to miss her. These are our first photos of Emma since the UK premiere of My Week With Marilyn last November, and at that point, Emma had already “disappeared” for several months too. This is smart – only make one appearance every few months. Let people miss you. Let your red carpet appearances become an “event”. This is the path that Emma Roberts should be following – but she isn’t.

Anyway, Emma was the hostess of a Lancome-sponsored pre-BAFTA event in England yesterday. Emma is one of the faces of Lancome, a decision I wasn’t happy with, but whatever. This is maybe the best Emma has ever looked, right? I’m not imagining things? This red-pink Valentino dress is perfect – sexy, young, girly, feminine and not saccharine. There’s a peek-a-boo effect with the lace that adds an interesting dimension, and I’m pretty sure I’m seeing the shadow of a nipple. Is that trashy? Or does it add some mystique? I kind of like it – it’s not overt, like she’s falling out of her dress or something. She just needs some nip-tape. Overall, I think this dress and Emma are a perfect fit together – small-busted girls get to wear all of the CUTE stuff, damn it.

I also love that her lipstick doesn’t perfectly match the dress too – it complements the dress, but it’s not too matchy-matchy. And how great is it that she’s growing out her Bieber hair?

    She looks very lovely

    • HA! says:

She looks LOVELY indeed! Trailer trash chipmunk Cyrus should be taking notes about how to be a classy, sassy, flawless young lady with brains and goals for the future like Emma. Instead of banging and bonging and buying her clothes at a good will store with ill fitting 80s reject pieces of clothing.

  2. Asli says:

She looks great. Alot of people in Hollywood could really learn a thing or two from her. Let people miss you, dammit!

Kaiser, do you usually post on Saturdays or is it just this time? Just want to know because mostly there aren’t any new posts on Saturdays. Thanks. 🙂

  3. UniqJazz says:

I love her legs. She has such healthy legs. I also love her style. I want those high heels. She really seams like good hearted person.

    • Amy says:

I was just going to say the same thing. I love her legs! They’re lean but…substantial? She looks strong and healthy.

  4. Marianne says:

The dress is cute, but not her BEST look IMHO. I really liked this dress…http://celebrityhotness.com/wp-content/gallery/watson/Emma%20Watson%20Green%20Dress.jpg

  5. Vanden says:

i think she’s girl-next-door pretty. But not stunning or beautiful. She seems like a nice enough girl and the dress is ok. Always feel ‘meh’ when it comes to Emma Watson

    • sandra says:

Me too! She looks like she just served my Cinnabon at the mall. Great beauty? Pretty girl, but come on. Nothing that stands out there. I think people have an affection for the HP movies, hence all the love for her.

      • P says:

Agreed. I never really got why people are so starstruck over her, she seems like any other girl who comes and goes through the street. Nothing special really, and yeah, people really love everything about HP, which I don’t understand either.

    • Ally says:

Agree. And clearly Hollywood does, too. Even the Jean Seberg-Mia Farrow haircut hasn’t worked to get her serious young actress parts like it worked for Michelle Williams, Mia Wasikowska and Carey Mulligan.

I think that’s why Watson jumped on the perfume ad campaign — as a desperate reminder to casting agents in every magazine on the newsstands.

She should grow her hair out (in hope of second-banana girlfriend parts) and go back to college.

      • Abby says:

I admire her for working at all. Girl never has to lift a finger for the rest of her life thanks to Harry Potter. Who cares if she’s a superstar?

That being said, I love this dress, the shoes and her makeup. I wish she’d grow out her hair though.

      • *Roxy* says:

Even the Jean Seberg-Mia Farrow haircut hasn’t worked to get her serious young actress parts like it worked for Michelle Williams, Mia Wasikowska and Carey Mulligan.

I’m afraid it’s the other way out – Michelle Williams, Mia Wasikowska and Carey Mulligan don’t need to change a haircut to make everyone believe they can act! 🙂

    • Lee says:

      The hell you say.

  6. Aqua says:

Even though I find her fashion to be hit and miss sometimes I find her beauty to be simply flawless.

  7. duncecap says:

She put on a tiny bit of school weight. Which I think flatters her. Her skin looks amazing.

For some reason I think she’s one of those types that needs to carry an extra 5lbs. or so, when they get older. In 10-15 years she’s gonna be one of those that has to choose between her ass or her face. Don’t ask me why I think this. Just a feeling.

  8. paola says:

    she’s lovely top to toes

  9. Eleonor says:

I love her nailpolish! And yes she looks great, I think very few women could wear that dress without resulting too much sugary.

    • Bubbling says:

Me too! 🙂 I don’t like the dress, it’s somewhat promy, but hair&make up, shoes and nails are spot on

  10. Jack says:

must be so weird for her not to be filming Harry Potter right now, she’d be right in the midst of filming. She looks lovely, i noticed the nip though aswell even though I wasn’t looking! Def needs some tape. She seems to like being a bit risky though.

    • miriam says:

She hasn’t filmed Potter for almost two years. She was actually the first one to finish.

I think this is too attention seeking, and she always looks smug. She’s poses too much as well. Can’t she just be natural?

  11. akku says:

Grace Kelly reincarnated. Why is there nobody like her in hollywood? Perfection, perfection, perfection. Only actress that has beauty and class. She is just flawless.
Plus point is this girl is academically a genius too
    BEAUTY AND BRAINS

  12. I.want.shoes says:

The dress is ok. But I would’t have picked those shoes to go with that dress.

  13. aprayerforthewildatheart says:

I hate lace! But, she’s pulling it off well, the color is lovely on her. She’s a beautiful young lady, and smart to boot.

    • pinns says:

I agree, this dress is horrible! I’m feeling itchy just looking at it!!

It hasn’t been cut well around the shoulders/armpits, the neckline is cheap looking, and it needs more lycra (or a smaller size?) cos it’s wrinkly!! Orange red is a horrible colour and Emma doesn’t suit it, especially the lippy!

  14. podzol says:

She’s a lovely girl but the ensemble + makeup remind me a bit too much of (a classier version of) Dancing with the Stars or Strictly Come Dancing.

  15. Nanea says:

Emma is looking good in these pics, and I especially like # 4.

  16. Katie says:

Emma looks fantastic! I don’t love the lipstick color, and the shoes are a bit heavy for the dress, but those are minor infractions. She is what girls her age should aspire to be, not Miley Cyrus.

  17. duncecap says:

Never thought she had Bieber hair. Emma’s short hair always reminded me more of Twiggy or Mia Farrow. But now that I think of it you could probably say the same of Bieber

    • SG says:

I think people are starting to confuse short haircuts with Beiber hair, right?

I actually love Emma’s look with short hair. I thought her HP hair made her too bland.

  18. SG says:

I don’t know what it is, but she just looks SO smug all the time (ok, not all the time. Maybe 85% of her pictures are smug).

But she does carry off lipstick very well (and so smugly).

    • Yup says:

      Agreed.

She seems nice enough and certainly has more class than most Hollywood starlets, but there’s something about her posing and facial expressions that I find unbearably smug.

Also, I seem to be in the minority in that I hate this dress.

      • Allons - y Allonso says:

The dress is meh – i wouldn’t have paired it with those shoes. I like the lipstick but she has too much makeup on. Her skin is too nice to cake it with makeup. A more natural look would look great.

  19. sarah says:

She looks great. But I have to disagree that only a small chested girl could wear that dress. I don’t see why someone who is small but with a bigger chest couldn’t wear that dress. just saying.

  20. fd says:

meh. I don’t think that’s a good color for her and the hair is too severe for that dress. don’t like the shoes either.

  21. Aiobhan says:

Emma will always be cute to me but will never be anything more than cute. I like her hair and makeup but I do not understand this new love affair that Hollywood starlets are having with the design team at Valentino. Their clothes all look like either the worst of the eighties trends or Italian grandma couture. I will admit that last springs show was overall very pretty but nothing to rave about and not red carpet worthy at all. The shoes are hot though.

  22. original sandy says:

she does look pretty good, i like the red on her, she can get away with this look.

  23. Sophie says:

Why isn’t anyone commenting on the fact that we can see her nipples through that lace?!?

    • Shay Kay says:

You are not the only one! Thanks for speaking up because I was wondering if I was imagining it! “How odd that no one else sees Harry Potter’s girl’s nipples! Must be magic!”

    • Bubbling says:

meh, titys, we all got them. Plus it’s not boob in your face situation, so I’ll let it slide…

    • The Bobster says:

      Because I can’t see them, dammit! 😉

  24. Jackie says:

    she looks great.

  25. Courtney says:

Emma is adorable here. Lovely make-up, hair, and dress.

  26. El Kiddo says:

I have to disagree. I think everything looks over the top. The dress seems a bit prom dress-y. But her face, her face is perfection. So pretty.

  27. shontay says:

She looks really good. I like that new line of lisptick she’s pushing for the brand. It’s pretty good stuff. I haven’t seen her in a film besides My Week with Marilyn. I never bothered with Harry Potter, so I have no real assessment of her talent or anything.

  28. whatthehell456 says:

I think she looks wonderful. Classy, age appropriate with just a hint of sex. Spot on, spot on.

  29. B says:

She looks too masculine and her dress looks like something you’d find at an ice skating competition. I love her and appreciate that she is such a classy girl, but she would look so much better with longer hair and a dress that looks less like a bodysuit from the ’90s.

That said, she could wear a potato sack and I’d have more respect for her than many other actresses in Hollywood her age.

  30. erin says:

the lip color looks great with her eyes.

  31. BK says:

    I think she looks stunning.

Very pretty, very clean, crisp. healthy look. Happiest she has looked in a while, it seems.

    Good for her!

  32. marie says:

A little girl in a baby doll prom dress. Awful.

  33. Samantha says:

That dress makes her look like she’s about to do a triple axle. And I hate the shoes with it.

That said, she’s absolutely stunning in it. Her skin is gorgeous.

  34. Kloops says:

Hate the figure skating dress, love the makeup

  35. Maya says:

    Don’t like it.
What is it with the Rooney Mara hairdo?

  36. Camille (The original) says:

I hate the dress and shoes but from the neck up she looks cute.

  37. Paulyp says:

I was waiting for her to look good and here she does; cute and she has a good pair of legs…..too much makeup though

  38. Tanguerita says:

Nice legs, awful ice-skating dress, too much make-up. Really don’t like her hair.

  39. ANON says:

This dress is an 80’s prom NIGHTMARE..

  40. manda says:

This is my favorite look for her: http://www.celebitchy.com/59240/rain_doesnt_dampen_fans_spirits_at_harry_potter_and_the_half_blood_prince_premiere/

I realize she’s growing hair out, but I want to see how that looks in the back. I have never had the nerve to rock the wet look. She looks good here, but nothing out of this world

  41. Micah says:

    She looks Gorgeous!

  42. sm255 says:

Ahhh, Ms. Watson is always a breath of fresh air for me.

  43. Koko says:

Wow, Emma Watson is just classy and beautiful! See girls! You don’t need to show your boobs to be sexy. Take notes please!

  44. Lisa B. says:

Emma is very pretty but this is not the best she’s ever looked by any stretch of imagination.

The skirt of the dress is really strange and the bow just gives it a cheap, tacky look.

I also don’t think this color is the best for her.

I just find a bit sad that she’s growing out her pixie. I was so proud to share a haircut with her, hahaha. But I understand her reasons.

Anyway, I like this girl a lot. She’s so classy and intelligent.

She could’ve been another Lohan, but she’s got a good head on her shoulders. And she’s getting herself an education, which is a wonderful thing.

    All the best to her.

  45. benny says:

She’s a cute girl, but I don’t like these figure-skating outfits that she wears from time to time.
